Unable to print to officejet Pro 8000 on home network from other computers on network

Trying to set up the printer to print on the home network.  Running Win XP on a mainframe with the printer connected to it.  I can find the printer via a search, but when I install it and try to print to it, nothing happens.  Tried installing the 64-bit version of the driver on the laptop, which is running Win7 64-bit.  But it will not locate the printer.  Used to run Win7 32-bit and it worked, now that seems to be out of sync also.  Print sharing set up on both computers.

Hello denvershadow1, You may want to take a look at this  Link, and see if there is any useful information to setup your printer for network use.
You would need to install the software/drivers for the printer on all the systems that need to use the network printer.
Since you mentioned some of your systems have Windows7 and also Windows XP,  Here  is the link where you can locate the needed drivers for the different Windows operating systems.

  • Unable to Delete Older Printing Presets -- Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless Printer with OSX v10.6.4

I find that, after upgrading to the latest Officejet Pro 8000 A809 (989005) printer driver, I am not able to delete Presets that were created with earlier versions of the Apple/HP supplied printer driver.  I am using OSX v10.6.4 and v2.0.3 of the HP Printer Driver.
When I try to print from an application the Presets that had been previously created appear on the menu, but 'Delete" is not available as an option for any of those older Presets.
If I create a new Preset, it appears in a section of the menu listing below the Presets created by earlier versions, and the Delete option is available to remove any Presets made with v2.0.3 of the driver.
I would like to delete the earlier Presets, since are no longer necessary given the changes that have been introduced in the latest versions of the HP printer driver.

If you have HP software for pre-10.6 Snow Leopard, you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option.  Also, you do not need the hp software at all - both print and scan drivers are built into the OS.  I'd recommend uninstalling, but make sure to do it this way:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Restart your Mac
    Now, run a Software Update.
Next, remove and re-install the printer in System Preferences, Print & Fax.
You do not need the software now since Snow Leopard has both print & scan drivers built-in. Scan from Preview or Image Capture apps. Scanning from the front panel of the printer does not yet work.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Duplex printing with officejet pro 8000

I am using this officejet pro 8000 to print up some newsletters.  When printing a two sided copy (duplex printing) something happens which changes my border setting.  Printing the exact same document, but electing one-sided copy renders a perfect border.  I would not have a problem copying just one side, then re-loading those in order to make two-sided copies, but the friction caused by the ink on the pages causes mulitple sheets to feed at the same time, jamming the printer.  Has HP ever come up with a fix for this?  I have seen this problem on the net, but the best folks have done (that I have seen) is to upload drivers for older machines.  This has rendered good borders on duplex prints, but diminishes the quality of the print copy.  Whatcha think?

Since updating to Snow Leopard, I have had serious problems duplexing. Under the print dialogue window, there is no option to duplex. H.P. blames Mac. Mac blames H.P. I can duplex by going to "layout" and where it says "duplexing off" selecting "long-edge binding" will work. How dumb. Mac Help senior customized my settings by adding "duplex printing" to the "Presets" list.
Are you using the latest drivers from HP? If I set up a printer with the HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809 Series PPD, I can see Two-Sided to the right of Collated if the HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplexer) is checked in the Print & Fax -> Options & Supplies -> Driver tab. If this is not checked, Two-Sided won't appear.
MAC HAS TO CREATE A PATCH TO SIMPLIFY THIS SNOW LEOPARD ERROR!
Apple doesn't write the HP software.

  • Muddy dark prints HP Officejet Pro L7780 + Vista Home

When I print in Lightroom 1,1 or Elements 5.0, my prints are dark and muddy. If I print from any other software they are fine. I can only find two HP icc profiles and they make it worse. I managed to install a sony profile and it is much better but still not right. I can not seem to install any other profiles.
I have calibrated my monitor and when I send the files out for printing the prints are perfect. Any suggestions or any links that will give me a step by step method of getting the printer to work better.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 A809 printing line feed page after every job

I've searched and I have found this is a known issue - that there is supposed to be an update to fix this. I can't find this update anywhere for the HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809. It is connected to the computer via a USB cable. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, changing the print heads, doing diagnostics on it, ..., and I still get the line feed page printing after every print job. Help!

Hey there @tjkalb, I hope you are doing well
I read your post about how a "line feed" page prints after each print job from your Officejet 8000, running Windows 7. I have some steps and questions for you to try to get started. Afterwards please get back to me with the results and we will go from there if needed.
    1. Does the "line feed" page print after print jobs from all programs, or are you finding it prints when you print from somewhere specifically?
    2. Try a Clean Boot on your PC, restart the PC, and try printing from Notepad to see if the line feed prints.
    3. Print a Print Quality Page from the printer and examine it for any defects and to see if the line feed page still prints afterwards:
    source
    4. Click here and try download the "Updates" for this printer: HP Officejet Pro 8000 Printer - A809a
    5. Create another User Account profile on your computer and try printing from there to see if the line feed page prints from another profile.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809

after installing Snow Leopard I have been getting error messages saying the software for the printer was installed wrongly. I am then invited to authenticate, and it runs off and 'repairs permissions' then prints.. Doesn't say what permissions and the time taken is too short for it to be a full permissions repair.
The printer software, aside fom the initial install with Snow Leopard and the variousO.S. updates, was installed through the Software Update sub menu. I assume it is not a matter of  user privileges though I nearly always run in a non admin and authenticate. I have a few times had issues with apps and only got by them by installing in root, but that seems not what is involved as a set of 'permissions' was apparently being repaired.
Incidentally I have just been ploughing through an 11 page posting on HP printers where some seemeed more intent on propounding canaon law than helping, so don't bother with a recitation of  dogma such as on not using root.
I have just taken a download of the HP drivers from the Apple site so could delete the `hp drivers (If I can track them down) though I would like an opinion on the best way to then re install them. By the wy my OS is now 10.8.3

  • Officejet Pro 8000 paper feed (top or bottom)?

I've gotten conflicting answers from HP sales chat.
Does the HP Officejet Pro 8000 feed the paper from the bottom of the stack of paper or does it feed from the top?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

From the top. Tested by printing a page, putting it back (printed side up) on the top of the stack, then printing the same page again. It duly appeared on the other side of the same sheet.

  • No wireless connection to Officejet Pro 8000 printer

This used to work, though occasionally the connection went down. Now nothing at all. I have Windows 7, trying to connect to an HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless printer. Neither has been updated recently as far as I know, and there has been no reason for network or firewall changes that I am aware of.
The printer will produce its three page report, and everything passes ("No problems found", connected to correct network, etc.). I can connect to the printer via USB and print out fine. I have tried rerunning the connection software; it finds the printer (presumably via the USB connection), but then says:
"Your computer is unable to communicate with your printer at 192.168.1.73. This may be caused by firewall software. If you are using firewall software, verify that UDP port 427 is unblocked for both inbound and outbound traffic.
Your PC can not communicate with your printer at address 192.168.1.73. Check all cable connections. Check that the printer, PC and router are powered on and connected to the network."
My Windows firewall is set to "display a notification" when it blocks something, and that has not happened when the software is trying to connect, so it does not seem to be the firewall (and the software should set that up itself anyway). There are no cable connections - I am connecting wirelessly. Everything is turned on. The PC (192.168.1.67) can connect to the router (192.168.1.254) fine. I have tried pinging the printer from a laptop also on the network, and that fails too.
I have restarted both the printer and the PC.
The wireless network has WPA-PSK authentication, but the password has not been changed.
I have tried running the  HP Print and Scan Doctor. It tell me my computer is connected (thanks, I already knew that) and that to connect the printer I need to run the "wireless setup" software (thanks, I already knew that). So that was a waste of time...
When do I go from here?

From what you describe it is possible that the router has a network firewall which is blocking the communication with the printer. I am going to include a image which contains the ports which have to be open on that firewall, you may have to contact the router provider to achieve this.
Another thing to note is that sometimes you get better network success through installing the printer with the USB cord and then performing the USB to Wireless setup witch directly borrows the authentication of your computer.
Let me know how that goes and I will get right back with you!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 Printer series - A809 Slow Response to Word Print

    Hello,
When I try to print from a Word Document the HP Officejet Pro 8000 Printer series - A809 Printer takes on average 1:24 to respond and print. When I go into the printer's settings and print a test page the Printer takes about 3 seconds to respond and print the document. The Printer has a Dual Side Printing add on and the optional paper tray.
Do you know what could cause such a long delay for the printer, especially when it only happens with word and other Microsoft Works Programs?

I would also like to add that I am on a Mac OS X Version 10.6.4 with plenty of processing speed and Memory in case that would be useful in helping me

  • Tutorial: Print index cards without removing paper from tray for Officejet Pro 8000.

The HP Officejet Pro 8000 and Officejet Pro 8000 wireless do not have a slot for inserting index cards and envelopes.
If you are wanting to print index cards without removing the paper from the tray, follow these steps.
The steps below are for 3 x 5 index cards.
    1.) Open Microsoft Word
2.) Go to the Insert tab and insert a rectangle shape
3.) Draw a rectangle of any size
4.) Right click on the rectangle and select "Format Autoshape..."
5.) Under the Size tab, enter 5" for the height and 3" for the width (make sure "Absolute" is selected)
6.) Under the Layout tab, select "Center" for the horizontal alignment
    7.) Click OK
8.) Use the keyboard up arrow key to move the rectangle to the top of the page.  Make sure the top edge of the rectangle touches the top edge of the document.
9.) Print this document on plain 8.5" x 11" paper
10.) When you want to print an index card, place this 8.5x11 document in the paper tray printed side face up.  Then place an index card over the rectangle and align with the border of the rectangle.  After you print the index card, remove the 8.5x11 paper for the next time you need to print an index card.
Note 1: This are USA instructions.  If you live in the UK or other countries you may have different paper size standards.

I can't tell you how much I HATE this printer.  I will never buy an HP product again.  BROTHERS printers are simply and easy to use.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless Printer - A809n.says it's out of ink but has new cartridge

about 6 monhs ago the printer stopped printing stating it was a out of ink (black) after i replaced the cartridge it stopped again after about 10 days. i contacted HP and they basically told me to get a new printer. i decided to try a new cartridge again and reboot etc, etc. it still would work i use my other HP printer before looking to buy another. i read on the internet that this was a frequent problem with the HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless Printer - A809n. and it might be an printhead problem. i replaced the printhead and any low  or outdated ink cartridge. the printer worked perfectly for 4 weeks. now i am having the same problem. this sticks. it is leaving a bad taste . i have been a loyal HP user  i feel HP has made a questionable product and is not standing behind it.

  • Officejet pro 8000 and HP Home & Biz print app

I have an Officejet Pro 8000 wireless that, according to HP's list, is compatible with the HP Home & Biz print app for the iPad 2.  However, the app does not find any printers on the wifi network.  I am running Win 7 and the printer is shared and works fine with printing wirelessly from the computer.  I followed the steps in the app to auto find any printer connected to the wifi, but it does not find anything at all.  The way I understand the app, it allows non-eprint capable printers to print using the app.  Am I missing something?

    Hi,
As you have mentioned the printer is shared from Windows 7, is the printer connected to the PC by USB?
In order to use the HP ePrint Home & Biz, the printer must be connected to your router by ethernet cable and then the up should detect it.
Please make sure both the iPad and the printer connected to your network.
Follow the steps below to access the printer EWS page:

  • Officejet Pro 8000 slow to select for color prints

I just installed Officejet Pro 8000 and immediately noticed how slowly the printer is selected in printer options box when I am doing color printing. It takes about 30 sec-1 minute to finalize the selection of this as my printer for the job. I have a networked color laser jet and a networked b&w laser jet also installed that are immediately selected when I choose them from the list.
I have been testing this in Word 2007 and have noticed that when I select the officejet, the bar at the bottom of the word screen says "connecting to printer" - this seems to be the source of the slowness. I have the latest driver installed and I do not have this problem when printing regular b&w docs on this printer.
Is there a problem here or is this normal <SLOW> color print operation?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the advice to contact HP tech support!
I have tried in multiple ways since November 2009 to contact HP, when I got the first (of 4) printers. The first 3 printers was subsequently replaced.
Finally in late June 2010 I got the message that there was coming an firmware update for Windows, but not for Mac's. The firmware should improve among other things the paper pick up (load paper issue) and the print-heads life.
I have applied the Windows firmware on the printer from a pc, but still seems to have load-paper issues, even using HP Bright White paper, when printing from Mac's. I have not tested the printing from a pc, but assumes that a firmware upgrade the printer, and are not specific to a certain OS.

  • Network: limit printing access ( hp officejet pro 8000 )

    Hello!
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809 connected to a LAN with approx. 100 PC's. It's not possible to attach it to my PC, because I want to share it and my PC is not running all the time.
Is there a possibility to restrict the access to the printer (MAC-filter, password) so that not everyone may print on my device? I have no access to the DHCP-Server or any other LAN facilities.
I already disabled WS Discover and WSD Print in the networking settings, but i would like to get some more security...
    Any suggestions would be appreciated
Edit: Some additional information about the current situation
    - Printer is accessed from 2 Win7-Notebooks and my Ubuntu 11.10 desktop
    - Printer is plugged to the LAN, has a fixed IP adress and is working correctly

  • About printing from hp officejet pro 8000

    Hi,
My question is on technical side. I don't know I should ask it in this forum or not, Yet I am going to ask.
I am using officejet pro 8000 printer in my project. I connect it to my machine and send the test report data to printer. Report is printed successfully, but after printing the report the power LED is blinking continuously. It means that printer is still waiting for some data to print.  So please tell me that which character should be sent to printer to specify "END OF DATA TRANSMISSION".

I wanted to share what I found in case someone else has the same questions.
    Microsoft 2008
    Go to Print dialog box
Choose the "Layout" Submenu (I think this menu defaults to "Copies and Pages")
There is a "two-sided" option, and you can choose "off", "long-edge binding", or "short edge binding"
Once I did this and saved the settings, it also worked for Excel and Adobe.
The only issue with Adobe is that you have to follow these steps every time you print. If I just hit print without following the below steps, it will not print duplex. The steps are at the following link.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/print-double-sided-acrobat-reader.html#main_Ma c_OS_print_double_sided
I expected the same dialog box that appears on the web brower to also appear with my other applications, and that is not the case.
