Unable to print to Xerox Phaser 8200

Hello All. I support a dual-platform (Windows/Mac) environment, and I have a single user on a MacBook that is unable to print to a networked printer. He's running OSX 10.5.4 with the latest software updates. He's able to print to all other networked printers, as well as a wireless one here in the office. I've tried removing the printer, installing drivers from the company's website, testing from a known working network port/cable, and rebooting, all to no avail. I've got a similar configuration to his and I'm able to print to this and all other printers just fine. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

What kind of network setup does it use? This might be a subnet problem.

  • Unable to print from xerox phaser 3100MFP

    Hello,
I bought a new printer today. Xerox phaser 3100MFP.
So I found driver on xerox.com page, downloaded and installed it (Mac OS X GDI Printer Driver - GDI PowerPC-based GDI printer driver for Macintosh systems running Mac OS X 10.3) Then I used Printer Utility to add printer. I found printer in default browser list (Connection is USB). So I clicked on it, but it did not find driver automatically, so I choosed in menu "Print Using": Xerox and then I found "XeroxPhaser3100" Model.
Then I tried to print some random text, but it said "Opening conection", than "Printing page 1, 60..98 %" and then "Printer not responding" I found out that I get same thing even I do not have printer connect to USB port to my iBook G4 (OS X 10.4.11).
How can I print on my new printer? What can I do to make it work?
    Please HELP me.
If you did not understand my english, please feel free to ask me, I am not native english speaker

Hi Martin, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Did you actually get a 10.3 driver? That may not work on 10.4.
    Her's a list of drivers I see, and includes a 10.4 driver...

BTW, I'd never have guessed that english was not your native language! Very, very good, just one tiny mistake... far less than most native speakers!

  • Photoshop CS5: error when printing to Xerox Phaser 7750

    Mac 10.6.5
I get the following error when I print directly to my Xerox Phaser 7750 from Photoshop CS5:
    "Error: /Library/Printers/Xerox/Filters/pstophaserps failed"
All the other CS5 apps (plus Photoshop CS4) have no trouble printing.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Something doesn't add up since PS CS4 works ok. What's different about CS5? 64bit?
My guess would be that Photoshop is the only app you use that prints PostScript through the Cocoa drivers, and thus the only one hitting that particular part of the driver software.

  • Mavericks won't print to Xerox Phaser 6300.

Mavericks has my printer in the list of available devices, but tells me that the printer is not connected and won't print. Xerox only has updates to Mountain Line in their driver downloads.
Anyone else having a similar problem?

    Update:
Checked the printer Settings to confirm the Printer's address. When I use the Setting to check the Wi-Fi Settings, I get a message saying "This computer appears to have a working Internet connection, but can't find Phaser 6300DN (00L00:aa:95:47:31).printer._tcp.local. You may have typed the address incorrectly.
The address is 00:00:aa:95:47:31 so I don't know where all the parenthetical data is coming from.
The network setting seems to be at the heart of the issue, but I'm not sure how to resolve them.

  • HAVING PROBLEMS WITH OS 10.6.8 PRINTING WITH XEROX PHASER.  MacPro crashes when printer warms up. Does anyone have a solution? 6360 DN

I've been using Macs since 1984.  Have been using Xerox Phaser printers for ten years.  But with the last update to OS 10.6.8 last summer, I've had problems with crashing when printing.  My MacPro crashes when printing via ethernet prot with Xerox Phaser 6360DN or when the printer warms up.  Worked fine with OS 10.6.7.  Internet postings suggest this is a common problem for all Mac users with Xerox Phaser printers.  Apple put out an update to 10.6.8 to address the problem.  I downloaded it but it did not solve the problem.  Have tried all the Xerox drivers along with Apple drivers.  Can't solve the problem.  Xerox says it's an Apple problem.  Does anyone KNOW how to solve the problem?

sorry, just saw that i was accidently in the snow leopard section....i reposted under the correct section. here's the link.

  • Duplex printing on Xerox Phaser 6125

Hi all, I am having trouble duplex printing on my Xerox Phaser 6125 which has a manual duplex function. At least in Windows XP, where it works flawlessly. The Duplex choice in the printing/layout screen is greyed out, with whichever Xerox driver I install. Xerox Europe Ltd claim it's the Mac OS which causes this.
Before I decide to switch from XP to Mac: is this true? Is OS Lion resolving this issue?? Such a simple thing which works flawlessly in antiquated XP should surely work on a superior OS, right?

Hi, I faced the same issue, migrating from Windows to MAC and facing this issue in the driver.
I found a workable solution, involving even more manual tasks but works...
Here is how, inside Adobe Reader, but imagine that it would work from other printing apps also:
    1. Select Print, select Booklet
    2. From Booklet subset, select front sides only
    3. Print.
3a. transfer pages into feeder, no turning, flipping, just pick up en in the drawer as they were
    4. Select Print again, under Pages to Print, select More Options
    5. check Reverse Pages
    6. From Booklet subset, select back sides only
    7. Print and a booklet should appear.

  • Safari no longer printing to Xerox Phaser

This week, after some time of working well, safari stopped printing to my Xerox Phaser 860. The job seems to spool, but the printer doesn't print. However, pages print as they should in Firefox and Explorer.
    Has this been reported before?

Try repairing permissions, try the latest security update, try recreating your drivers from scratch using the latest drivers on Xerox's website, try using open source drivers*, or recovering your old copy of the previous operating system from your backup and disabling Java.

  • Printing with Xerox Phaser 3124 printer in leopard

The Xerox Phaser 3124 printer will work with Leopard you have to download and install the

Update Acrobat 9. I think you need at least 9.2.2 for Windows 7 compatibility. Upgrade to the latest 9.3.4.

  • Wireless Printing to Xerox Phaser 6180...does it work?

Is there a list of compatible printers for the Airport Express? I want to wireless print to a Xerox Phaser 6180

jmchugh, Welcome to the discussion area!
You only need to worry about compatibility if it is connecting via USB to the AirPort Express (AX). If it connects wirelessly, it is just like any other wireless client.
If it is to connect via USB, check out iFelix's list.

  • Upgraded to OSX 10.6.8 and now cannot print to Xerox Phaser 6180DN

Since upgrading to OS X 10.6.8 on 23rd June I have found that printer reports as "paused".
If you click "resume" it apparently accepts the command but then comes back immediately as "paused".
Any advice would be appreciated (though I suspect it is a glitch in 10.6.8.)
(I have seen a similar report on the Xerox support website)

Apple clobbered the PS drivers - the fix for this has been poseted - see:

  • Xerox Phaser 8860 on Network-How to turn off popup print job confirmations?

I recently upgraded to OS 10.6.4 and as expected I needed to reinstall the drivers for a few peripherals. One of which was the Xerox Phaser 8860 which is on the network. Everything works, but now after each print job prints out a window pops up in the center of the screen notifying me that ::Job### has printed on Xerox Phaser 8860::. It causes no serious problems, but it does knock me out of what ever program I am using. Which can get extremely annoying when I'm drawing and I repeatedly get halted mid (pen/brush) stroke. It stays up on the screen for about a minute and a few times it has remained up. There is an option to close, it simply gets really annoying after the 30th time. Common sense would suggest to not draw while a file is on it's way to the printer, but my work day is a constant flow of drawing, printing, color tests and editing. It's not practical or good for deadlines to stop drawing to wait for a print job to come out and the pop up window to go away.
I tested printing from the other computers, which are PC's using various versions of windows and they all come up with the same pop up window (though theirs come up at the bottom right of the screen). They do not receive confirmation windows from the other printers not on the network.
This suggested to me that this was a setting with the Xerox software. However, I spoke to the technical support for Xerox and they said that the pop up window had nothing to do with their software and claim that it had to be generated by the Mac OS 10.6.4.
I am regularly printing from the following programs:
Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Word, and Excel. The pop out window has acquired while printing files from all of these programs. I doubt that has any relation but I thought I'd add it, just in case.
I would very much like to know how to turn this confirmation notification off in OS 10.6.4. Or if anyone has an thoughts on what software could be the culprit.

In CWIS go to Properties > General > Printer Defaults and disable the Startup page  As for garbage prints, That sounds like a PS error. And they are almost always due to improperly embedded fonts. Have all your users switch the following in their drivers (Picture is the global driver, but the regular driver will have the same option.) Essentially by default the printer uses its own locally stored fonts on the jobs, but when the fonts are misunderstood, or unknown it winds up printing wingdings.

  • Make Xerox Phaser 6110MFP  work with OS 10.6 (SOLUTION SUMMARY)

The following steps are needed to get the printing working with OS 10.6:
    1) Navigate to Applications > Utilities and open a Terminal window.
    2) Type the following command: sudo chown -R root:admin /Library/Printers/Xerox
    3) You will be prompted to enter your password.
    4) Install Rosetta from Snow Leopard DVD:
+ insert the snow leopard install DVD
    + select optional package
+ select rosetta only from the list of optional packages
+ click install and follow instructions to complete installation
    + no need to reboot
    5) Reset Printing System:
    Goto: System Preferences> Print & Fax> Xerox Phaser 6110MFP
    Right click on the printer
    Select Reset Printing System
    6) New Install printer (without removing the driver)
    Goto: System Preferences> Print & Fax> Xerox Phaser 6110MFP
select +: add the available Xerox printer

I'm informed that "The printer software was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall the printer’s software or contact the manufacturer for assistance."
This is an issue with permissions of the installed driver.
To correct the problem perform the following steps:
    1) Navigate to Applications > Utilities and open a Terminal window.
    2) Type the following command: sudo chown -R root:admin /Library/Printers/Xerox
    3) You will be prompted to enter your password.

  • Deafult Printer won't "stick" XEROX Phaser 7760GX

When I set the XEROX Phaser 7760GX IP networked printer as default in system settings, it has reverted to "last used" next time I i look. I have downloaded and installed new printdriver since upgrading to Leopard and it prints fine but won't stick.
It might be the same problem but in the Adobe CS3 InDesign Print Presets [Deafult] I'm unable to select the Default Printer (Greyed out)

I have another idea on how to use the old driver. NO guarantees.
For all who may be reading this -- this is for Yosemite -- it reduces security by relaxing sandboxing. It is a workaround, not a permanent fix.
Use the Terminal utility to run the two commands below -
sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
    sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
(sudo means superuser do - this is your admin user on OS X. It asks for your password - but it hides it from you when you type - for security)

  • Pages won't print in color on Xerox Phaser 6110

For some reason, I have to print as pdf, then use preview to print the pdf version if I want the document in color. If I try just going from pages to the phaser, I get a black and white document instead. I've been trying to find a setting in pages that might limit the color, but haven't found it. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

For some reason, I have to print as pdf, then use preview to print the pdf version if I want the document in color. If I try just going from pages to the phaser, I get a black and white document instead. I've been trying to find a setting in pages that might limit the color, but haven't found it.
In principle, if the imports colour photographs and creates colour page geometries in Apple Pages, then these objects will be colour managed to the digital graphic display, the digital graphic printer, and the digital graphic press. The colours will match provided the digital graphic devices have correct ICC colour space profiles and provided the conversions are configured correctly.
A digital graphic device that is capable of colour can be addressed in 1 bit (off/on without tone), grayscale (tone) and colour. How a digital graphic device is addressed cannot be defined by Apple Pages, it is defined at the device driver or at the device interface whether as a colour managed or colour blind command.
Apparently, the Xerox device driver is addressed differently depending on whether Apple Preview is rendering PDF or Apple Pages is rendering. If you can't find any setting in the Xerox device driver to change from grayscale to colour, the simplest solution is simply to save out PDF from Pages and print from Preview probably until OS X 10.6 is out.
To check the settings for the Xerox device driver, one place you might have a look is Print > Printer: (Xerox Phaser), Presets: (check that there is no preset for grayscale), scroll from Copies & Pages down to check ColorSync and also check if any application features and printer features that are able to affect a conversion to grayscale.
    Hope this helps.
