Unable to Print with Adobe Reader 9

I just installed the free Adobe Reader 9. After opening a PDF document and attempted to print, I received an alert from Adobe Reader stating that there are no printers installed.
This is not the case, there are several network printers installed and I'm able to print to them using other applications, such as Word, Browsers, etc.
Anyone have any ideas before I uninstall this beast of a reader?
Thanks!!

My machine has been fine since I last reinstalled adobe reader 9. Tried to print a large pdf file today from my inbox in outlook express and machine again experienced the same problem. Was not able to open my printer and faxes window and unable to print anything else. I resolved the problem by taking the following actions:
Opened Administrative tools in control paneland went to Component Services and clicked on Services(local).Scrolled window down to Print spooler and highlighted Print spooler. Tried to Stop the service. After some time received an error 1053 indicating that the service could not be stopped successfully.
I then Tried to restart the service. This appeared to work correctly. at this point tried to reopen printer and faxes window and could now see my printers briefly before getting error msg indicating spooler problem again. When clicking on my printer icon I could see the document that I had tried to print when I experience the original problem in the printer queue. At this point decided to try and find the file in question. Found a file in C:\windows\system32\spool\printers directory with an filename of xxxxx.spl. This is the spooler print file. I then tried to delete this file but was not allowed to do so by the system. I then used a program called unlocker assistant and deleted the file. Hey presto all printing is now restored and working well again.
It appears that the spool file generated was corrupted and the spooler could not handle the problem. Am not sure where the problem is created. It could be with adobe 9 or it could be a windows spooler problem.

  • Unable to Print with Adobe Reader....HELP

When I go to print the dialog box comes up, I select Print and then the Save As box comes up and tries to save in a different format and am unable to print.

That worked.  Thank you very much.

  • Users are unable to print from Adobe Reader X

    Hi,
Multiple users in our environment report that they are unable to print from Adobe Reader X. They receive the following error messages (translated from Dutch) Document cannot be printed. There are no pages selected.
We are using Reader version 10.1.3
What we have tried to resolve the issue (without any positive results):
    - Repair the installation of Adobe Reader.
    - Update Adobe Reader to the latest version for Vista (x86) (10.1.7)
    - Created new user profile for the affected users.
The documents can be printed without any errors from Foxit Reader.
At the moment we use the following workaround:
Open the document in Internet Explorer, and then print the document from there.
Does anyone have any idea how we can resolve this?
    Best regards,
    Duncan

    James,
I'm sorry to hear that you were having the same problem under 9.5.  I had recently updated to Adobe Reader 10 under Windows 7 and yesterday my "default printer" simply disappeared from the options on my control panel.  I re-installed my printer, but today whenever I would open a PDF document and try to print it, the document would simply close with no further ado.  After a bit of trial and error, I ended up uninstalling Adobe Reader 10 and going back to Adobe Reader 9.5.  Now everything is working just fine.

  • Barcode printed with Adobe Reader XI cannot be recognized by barcode reader

    Dear Support,
We are generating barcode and convert it into pdf using Crystal Report for .NET Framework 2.0.
The pdf is opened with Adobe reader XI / FoxitReader 4.3.1. And it is printed with Avery Dennison AP 5.4 300DPI.
When the pdf is printed with Adobe reader XI, the barcode cannot be read with barcode reader, but when it is printed with FoxitReader 4.3.1, barcode can be read with barcode reader.
I've compared the two printed barcodes and found Adobe printed the lines thicker and the characters wider. Thus, two lines sticked together and become 1 line. As result, it cannot be recognized by barcode reader.
Could you explain why did this occur and how can I fix it in Adobe? Are there any settings I can change to solve it?
    Thank you very much.
Operating System: Windows Xp or Windows 7
Application: Adobe reader XI or FoxitReader 4.3.1

    Thanks Pak,
    I've attached the pdf on:
    https://files.acrobat.com/preview/47dde05c-4835-4bdc-881f-c406f8056f01
As the problem I've described in the post only occurs on specific printer, I've found a way to reproduce the barcode problem in most of the printer.
From the pdf I've provided, you may print it with Adobe and Foxit, using a printing scale of 190%.
For the Adoble one, you may observe some white lines in between the labels, and the Foxit, there are no white lines.
I do believe that two problems are related. Do you have any idea on that?

  • Borderless printing with Adobe reader or acrobat and HP Officejet Pro 8100

    Hello,
When printing borderless with my Pro 8100 the printed pdf moves about 2mm to te left on the paper. (White vertical strip on the right side is the result and on the left side something is missing!).
What causes the problem seems to be that the HP Pro 8100 printsoftware makes the A4-format a littlebit larger (214,55 x 300,91) than an actual A4-format (210,00 x 297,00) when you choose borderless printing.
Therefore, I suppose that the pdf shoud be centered before printing. Adobe reader doesn't seem to have the possiblity to center the page however.
    Any tips?

The borderless printing option is intended to print photo's on photo paper.  When printing borderless the print is slightly oversized to eliminate (or reduce) to chance for white edges due to media skey.  Depending on your operating system you may have a setting in the Advanced tab of the driver for Overspray, set this to minimum and see if it helps.

but on the paper (happens also on different printers) all printed text (chars and numbers) are increased by 1.
    this meas:
    1 will get 2
    2 will get 3
    A will get B
    a will get b
    etc.
when i print it again this does not happens.
does anyone know this problem / have a solution for it?
    regards, johannes

    >Has anyone come across a similar scenario?
Yeah, it's come up in the forum before. Usually older HP printers with old firmware. If newer firmware is available, I would try that. Otherwise you'll need to use the PCL driver.

  • Printing with Adobe Reader in Windows 8?

I am using Windows 8 which automatically took me to the new version of Adobe Reader. You know, the clean screen with no toolbars. However it's not apparent where to go to print the document that autoloads in .pdf format. The hidden toolbar that comes up at the bottom doesn't have a print icon. Thanks for your help. Drinian256.

No point in me starting a new thread.
I have yet to find another one on the same issue - but i'll keep digging.
Installing adobe reader for Windows 8 seems to force us to install as an app.
I am unable to find anyway to print from this app.
    Any ideas?

  • Error in Printing with Adobe Reader 11.0.2

I just upgraded Adobe Reader from X to XI on my older Windows XP desktop. When I opened a PDF file and tried to print it, I got a pop up box saying: Prop Res DLL Not Loaded with an OK button. I could not get rid of the error mesage until I closed down Adobe Reader repeatedly. Version X worked correctly so I uninstalled XI and resinstalled it from Adobe's Reader Web Site but stiull get the same error. Any suggestions?

I did go to the HP website, downloaded the latest drivers, and corrected the problem. Thanks for the help.

  • Unable to print with Adobe Acrobat Pro - latest version 10.1.10

    Hi,
I have installed Adobe Acrobat Pro on my mac book air version 10.9.2. but am unable to print. When I print a PDF, it shows up in the printer icon as complete but when I go to the printer, nothing is there? Can someone help?

    Hi Frank,
This type of error usually occurs when two or more than two programs are accessing the same file at a point of time.
Does this issue occur with that specific pdf or with other pdfs too?
How about if you make a copy of that pdf and then try deleting pages from that copied pdf? Do let me know if that works.
If possible...Can you mail me that pdf file at [email protected] so that i can check this issue at my end?
    Regards,
    Rahul

  • Can't print with Adobe Reader 9.4.1

I have an Apple Computer.  I can't print any PDF documents with Adobe 9.4.1
For the last couple weeks, I get the error message (from my Epson printer) says:
pstopdffilter/pstocupsraster failed with err number 13
This has never been a problem before.
    I use Snow Leopard 10.6.5
    Any help please.

Now it prints one page at a time, but for longer documents it's a drag that you have to click print for every page. This happened when I first installed Adobe Reader 9.1 in my MacBookPro and then was solved by Adobe via an update, so I guess I'll wait it out. Thanks everybody!

  • Can't printe with Adobe Reader 10.1.2

I recently downloaded Adobe reader 10.1.2 and can no longer print single pages. In particular I can't print 1 page documents. I select print and then click "Print",  the print dialogue box comes up but it does not change from 0%, the box closes and nothing comes through to my printer?? If I print multi-page document then it prints OK. I had no problem printing with previous versions including 10.1.1 and can't go back to previous versions whenI try to re-download. Has anyone else had this problem?

Please try the solution provided on: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/928/cpsid_92870.html
    That should fix things.

  • Unable to print in adobe reader x

I have windows xp and i recently updated to adobe reader x and now am unable to print. i have tried to print 'as an image' but I don't see a option for that on my printer ( I have a HP Deskjet D1420). I also tried uninstalling this version and putting an older version back on my comptuer but it downloaded this one again. I have many things I need to print, and I have no solutions. This is very frustrating and I'm disappointed that you would release something without the print function!! Please help.

I have the same problem.  Upgraded to Adobe Reader X v10.0.1 and now I cant print to my HP Laserjet 2600n over a network connection.  Haven't tried a direct USB connection.  Strange, because Adobe Reader can print to my other laser and inkjet printers, and other applications can print to the color laserjet in question.  I am going to try to go back to a previous version of Adobe Reader until this problem gets ironed out.  Hope it works.  If anyone is looking for a previous version, you can download v9 from Adobe's website at

  • Printing with Adobe reader produces blurry fonts

    Hello,
I've recently bought a Canon Pixma MP220, installed and updated with the latest drivers for OSX 10.4 from the Canon website.
When I print pdf documents with the Adobe reader (8.1.2), the printed fonts are really blurry and the speed of the printer is slow, even for black/white text-only documents.
The same document printed with Preview looks fine and the printer is faster than the previous case. Note that the printer configuration is the same in both cases.
Other applications, such as Word 04, print fine; so it seems an Adobe related configuration issue. Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Vittorio

I was thinking this part onward...
    "Adjust resolution for copied images
Image resolution is always an important consideration when copying and pasting data and when viewing images on screen or on printed pages. Screen resolutions are optimal at 72 pixels per inch (ppi) at 100% size. If you zoom in to a 72-ppi image, you quickly see image degradation. If you want to print documents containing images, 72 ppi is insufficient for almost every printer. You need higher resolutions in order to print images that look satisfactory.
You may want to copy images or page data in Adobe Reader at higher resolutions than the standard monitor view of 72 ppi. Adobe Reader has a special setting that lets you capture data at different resolutions.
To capture data at a user-definable resolution:
    1.
Open the Preferences dialog by pressing Ctrl/Command+K.
    2.
Select General in the left pane. In the Selection pane, check the Use fixed resolution for snapshots box (Figure 4).
    rdratimages_4int
Figure 4: Check the box for Use fixed resolution for snapshots.
    3.
Change the number in the Resolution box. Type a number—like 300—that might be used for printing images at better quality.
    Note:..."

  • Can't print with Adobe Reader

I got a new update to Adobe reader. When ordered to print, the printer goes offline. Only happens with Reader.
I'm running OS10.6.8 and I have an HP 1022 printer. The printer driver is up to date.
This happened a year or so ago and then cleared up.
Any suggestions? Or is this Adobe sabotage again?

Which reader? Both 10.1.5 and 11.0.01 print here in all three OSs.

  • Printing with Adobe Reader?

Am having difficulty printing with a new version of Adobe Reader. When I go to print the pdf from the web it appears blank. I know it has text on it but it won't print as though it does. It also saves as a blank pdf.

Seems to be a bug of some sort in the latest version of the Acrobat Reader web browser plugin. It happens in Snow Leopard, too. The solution is to NOT press Command+P to print the document. Instead, click on the printer icon you see at the top left of Safari's window.
You'll get a completely different looking print dialogue (below) presented by Acrobat. That one will print correctly.
