Unable to publish web site

Help. I have been trying to publish my blog from iweb to my mobileme acct. Each time I try, and it says it is published, I try and visit the site but then i get the message "We're sorry but we can't find the iweb page that you have selected"....or I get an "error on publishing the site...please try again later". Any suggestions? It's really getting frustrating.

Hi,
I'm having the same problem. Been using iWeb '09 for a couple of weeks, all with no problem. I added comment boxes to my blog and podcast pages and have been trying to upload the site changes since 9.00pm last night. No joy at getting them published to my mobile me account and still no luck this morning Maybe the server is down? Have tried to publish just the changes and the full site, still no luck, any help anybody? It says to check if my internet connection is OK, all is working fine, just can't publish my new site content.
Jules.

By default iWeb keeps its data in (user)/Library/Application Support/iWeb in a file named Domain. Without this file you cannot proceed (other than by recreating the site from scratch using the published version as a reference) so you need to locate it on the original disk.
To confuse matters, Apple have hidden the user’s Library folder in Lion and Mountain Lion to casual viewers, in an attempt to stop new Mac users messing their machines up. To access it, in the Finder go to the ‘Go’ menu and hold down the Option (Alt) key; the Library folder will appear as a choice.

  • IWeb 3.0.4 problem under Lion X: Why are my movies unable to play after publishing web-site?

No problems with the above running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Under Lion, I can place movies during the edit phase, set up quicktime to autoplay, and test it and it plays.  After publishing the site, the movies do not play.  Sometimes a note saying that "a plugin is not available" appears in the movie window.  Could this be a Quicktime problem?  The movies were placed in iWeb using iTunes from the Media Display and are .m4v files edited in iMovie. The web-site works on iMacs running 10.6.8, and on PC's.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Thanks QTKirk. Tried the web site under firefox 5.0 and the movies played!  Not sure about the DivX extension for Safari.  There is something called 3ivx on my machine that has something to do with Mpeg.  Could you give me the steps to remove this from Safari, assuming that it is the extension you were talking about?  How would I see what extensions are in Safari?  I'm labeling your response with the correct answer to my problem because either way --- I can always use firefox if I can't get Safari straightened out.  Many thanks!

  • Adding meta tags to published web site

I have created my website using iWeb and subsequently downloaded the RAVE SEO tool and used it to add for meta tags to my sites (description and keywords).
    I followed this procedure:
    1) I published my site from iWeb to a local folder on my iMac
    2) I added the meta tags using the RAVE SEO tool
    3) I tried to publish the site to my webhotel with tags added using the ftp tool in the RAVE SEO tool.
    PROBLEM:
when I publish from the SEO tool, it is the old sites which are published. In my local folder where I started out publishing the web site to, I can see that the tags from description and keywords have been added. But the site which is published does not contain the tags.
I have a feeling that the SEO tool is looking in a wrong foder, but I cannot change the folder using the "FTP Details" funktion in the SEO tool.
Do anyone have a suggestion for what to do?
    Thanks,
    Klaus

I have a feeling that the SEO tool is looking in a wrong foder, but I cannot change the folder using the "FTP Details" funktion in the SEO tool.
When you click publish and choose FTP you can create a new setup or use an existing one.
And if you do not know which folder to publish to, click browse. You decide.

  • Unable to Access Web Site (with same name) outside of Local Network

    Hi everyone,
I have my web site (and some other services) hosted outside of my network by my hosting provider, but handle all other items using OS X Server on my network (i.e. Wiki and so forth).
The problem is now that I am unable to access my website at www.mydomain.com from within the network. I have external DNS set up for www.mydomain.com to point to my website, while mydomain.com points to my OS X Server (static IP address). Internally in OS X Server's DNS settings this used to work when I had www.mydomain.com resolving to the IP address of my web host, in addition to the default domain settings that OS X had set up. For some reason this is no longer working, and I am unable to figure out why.
Using latest version of OS X Server 3.0.2.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Update: this ended up being a redirect issue on the web host. I added another subdomain that was hosted externally, and it worked fine. For some reason my web host is redirecting www.mydomain.com to domain.com.

I am in Texas and cannot get to that site either. Do you know for sure the site is up and working? It could just be down (for days, a site I support was down for almost 4 full days a few weeks ago due to a virus problem).
This may (again, may) be your problem: I see you have a173.48.x.x (you really should x-out the last two octets of your IP address for privacy reasons), I am on a 173.74.x.x address; I know some people have had problems with getting to some sites now that they have a 173.x.x.x address. I think Verizon obtained addresses in that range and some of the addresses apparently previously belonged to spammers or some malicious folks. Some sites (web sites, intermeidate routers, etc.) blocked those addresses, and may not have updated their filters to remove the block on those addresses because they don't know that Verizon now owns them. If this is the problem, eventually those filters will get updated and you will be able to access the site, but this could be a fairly long time.
If you know how to contact that site I suggest you email them about the problem. You can also try turning off your router overnight and when you turn it back on the next day you may find that you have a different address (one that doesn't start with 173) that will allow you to get to the site.
I don't think there is much Verizon can do to help, it is not their site that is blocking your address (at least I don't think it is).
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to open web site

    Hi
I am unable to open www.asx.com.au (the Australian Stock Exchange web site).
www.isitjustme says it is ok and it's just me and one of my friends confirmed they were able to open the site.
I have rebooted and also booted in safe mode and disabled AdBlockPlus and in safe mode the virus scanners appear to be off.
I haven't been able to find the site listed anywhere on the iMac as being blocked, but am unsure where to start as this has not happened before.
The problem cropped up earlier when I tried to open a spreadsheet in ApacheOpenOffice Calc and the links to import external data from their web pages failed. So I then tried to open the web site and can't open it. I have tried using Safari, Opera and Firefox. All other web sites are ok.
Oh dear.... I just tried on my iPhone and that also failed to open the site.
.....So does this mean that I need to contact the ASX tomorrow by phone or is there another possibility that I need to check.
I though maybe the action of the spreadsheet upset them, but is has been fine for a long time, though I haven't opened it for a few weeks.
Could it be the modem.... a NetComm NB9WMAXX
    Thanks
    Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:    iMac
      Model Identifier:    iMac7,1
Processor Name:    Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:    2.4 GHz
      Number Of Processors:    1
      Total Number Of Cores:    2

      Bus Speed:    800 MHz
      Boot ROM Version:    IM71.007A.B03

Just rebooted modem and now able to connect. I notice that the ASX web site has undergone a face lift so all the links in the spreadsheet may be broken and caused a bottleneck for me I suppose ????
no replies thanks as is fixed now.

The directory/path is the path to the root folder and, in most cases, should be left blank...

  • Moving Published web sites from old mac to new mac

I published a web site using iweb on my previous computer and would like to be able to make updates to it using my new mac. How do I transfer the sites from my old mac to my new mac?

Simply copy and paste the file. iWeb by default uses the following file:
    /Users/Username/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites
If viewing thru the Finder, you won't see the extension. Also, it is not imperative that you keep the file in that location. Move it to where you want, then double-click it to launch iWeb. It will then know where you are keeping it and automatically open that file in that location when you launch iWeb the next time.

  • Publishing web site-platform

I am about to buy hosting for a very simple web site I created with iweb and in the plan options it says "Platforms Windows and Linux", before buying this I want to make sure that it will publish ok and it is compatible with the Apple platform.
Also, is there any other thing I should take in account before paying for the hosting?
If anyone can answer me these two questions, it would be great
    Thanks

Reliability and good tech support are important. I would also make sure that the hosting service offers all the facilities you will need.
If your hosting account doesn't have WebShell installed I would look elsewhere. This makes handling the files on the server and stuff like password protection a lot easier.
The other thing to consider is how many websites you will want to publish. Make sure the account offers enough dedicated IP addresses for your future needs.

  • Unable to access web sites

A couple days ago I was having trouble accessing my long-time email web site bookmarked on Firefox and assumed their server was down which happens. Then I discovered that I also can't get to my local bank. The message I get is some version of "Server Not Found" or it just hangs. Then my husband discovered he could get to all of them easily on his Dell.
I tried other web browsers like Safari, downloaded Firefox again, deleted cookies and caches and downloaded Opera with no luck. I can access all my other web sites and bookmarks through any of these browsers. There have been no crashes or major events.
We are in Tajikistan now (Central Asia) with the nearest Apple Store several countries away! We use a dial-up modem but have had great internet success--especially with my iBook--since September. We leave for home in a couple weeks but would like to clear this up now since I use the internet often.
The odd thing is that we live in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and the two web sites I can't access both start with "Williams". You don't think it's some sort of cryptic message that they don't want me back, do you? Or have I been in Central Asia too long?
    Thanks, Kathryn

Hello Kathryn & Welcome to Apple Discussions!!
Could you paste the links here of the sites you can not access, so we can try them?

  • Unable to open web sites.

I can't seem to open any websites or the App Store on my MacBook Pro. I have internet connection. I know it's not my internet because I'm able to access websites on my tablet and phone using my wi-fi. What could be wrong with my laptop.

    Hi NotafanofAPPLEproducts,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has some steps you can try on your MacBook Pro to see if you can successfully view websites:
    OS X Mavericks: Solve problems
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14374
    Problems connecting to the Internet
If you can’t connect to the Internet, there may be a problem with your cables, your devices, your network settings, or your Internet service.
First, try using Network Diagnostics, which can diagnose and resolve most problems.
If you have a wireless network, make sure your Mac is communicating with the router and that the router is connected to the Internet.
If your router is an AirPort Base Station, open AirPort Utility, then choose Help > AirPort Utility Help.
If your router is from a manufacturer other than Apple, refer to the router’s documentation.
Make sure all cables are firmly connected.
Make sure all external devices such as modems, hubs, and routers are plugged in, turned on, and have started up completely. Try resetting these devices by unplugging them for a couple of minutes, then plugging them back in.
Check indicator lights to make sure your modem or router is registering a connection to the network and to your Mac. If an indicator light does not come on, see the documentation that came with the device or contact your ISP.
Make sure you have the correct settings for your type of connection. Open the Network pane of System Preferences and check the status of each network service, such as Ethernet, Bluetooth, and AirPort. The network service you are using should have a green indicator and the word “Connected.”To view more information about your network service, click to highlight it. For additional help, click the “Assist me” button.

  • Deploy Web Site Error:Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies

I have created a ASP.NET web Site (not Web application), using Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate and "SQL Server Compact 4.0 Local Database" in my C# Code.
I am able to successfully compile & publish the website to another IIS Web Server, with Operating System Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. I can even test, successfully, this website on the machine I developed it in.
I am publishing the website, from within Visual Studio, to a Network web server running IIS.  To Publish I am using Build-> "Publish Web Site".  In the Publish Profile, I am using Web Deploy Method. Even though I am using, successfully,
"SQL Server Compact 4.0 Local Database" in my website, the "settings" (in Publish Profile) does not detect any Databases in the project. Which may not be a problem.
When I try to bring up the web site on the IIS Web Server machine I get the following error..
Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies .
As my project is a Web Site, not Web Site Application, I do not have a references node in the Solution Explorer. I think the System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll, which is type GAC in my project, is not getting published to the webserver, which is causing this Error.
Can I copy this .dll over manually ? If yes, where to put on the ISS Web Server ? I do not see any bin folder.
Any help to resolve this error will be appreciated.

Hello.. I went ahead and created web application project and have gone past that error. But I have a new error now
System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeException: Unable to load the native components of
SQL Server Compact corresponding to the ADO.NET provider of version 8876.
Install the correct version of SQL Server Compact. Refer to KB article 974247
    for more details.
Compiling and Publishing (Deployment) are both successful
In my project, when adding reference to SQL Server Compact Edition , there are 2 possible locations to reference the DDL from:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v4.0\Private
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v4.0\Desktop.
I have tried both. I get the same error as shown above.
Interestingly, in My WebConfig, I do not see any reference to System.Data.SqlServerCe.
Yet, the Website works when I click on Ctrl+F5
