Unable to re-install iTunes ... help !

Hi,
My iTunes was giving me trouble of late (freezing my Mac, etc.). Went about removing it as per HT1224. Downloaded iTunes from the Apple site but the installer crashes during the installation process.
Any ideas ?
TIA !!

  • Unable to fully install itunes due to error message

I have been trying to install itunes and when I get about three quarters of the way in an error screen pops up telling me that I have an error writing to the file C:/Documents and Settings/All users/Application Data/.../GEARAspiWDM.inf and telling me I need to verify that I have access to this directory. How do I find that file and fix this problem so that I can fully install itunes?

Quite often those messages are caused by disk/file damage rather than a genuine permissions problem.

Do you have any special soft to remove QuickTime??

Installing I-tunes could be easy if you just read thestep by step instruction carefully.Anyway to remove Quicktime,if your are using Windows OS or Windows Xp,try the "add-remove program" found in Control Panel. You will find the list of software you have in your pc.Then try to remove it there.Anyway theres another way to organize your Ipod Mini, try using other Music software organizer like MediaMonkey.A good software simmilar to I-tunes.But have differant interface & other features.hoping this tip will help you,Good Luck!!!

  • Apple will not let me install ITunes - Help

ITunes would not start - error Quicktime needs to be reinstalled. So I removed quicktime through the control panel and then went on the Apple site to reinstall Quicktime. Website kept saying "Thank you for installing....". So, I uninstalled ITunes too thinking that would help. Went back to Apple website and tried installing ITunes. Same thing, "Thank you for installing..." My computer does not have either program in it and the website will not let me install it. I do not know how to get it back on my computer. Please help

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 80070002, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?)

  • Unable to update/install iTunes on XP

All I wanted to do was upload songs to my iPod. However, no matter what I did, iTunes refused to recognize that my iPod was plugged in. Stumped, I noticed I was running an older version of iTunes and tried to update it.
Upon trying to update iTunes, it completely deleted itself from my computer without a trace to be found. Everytime I try to redownload iTunes from apple.com, it appears to successfully install but at the last minute, completely removes itself. There is NO message telling me the installing was unsuccessful. It acts and looks as if the installation went completely fine. I watched it download to my desktop, saw the iTunes folder appear and then inexplicably delete. Not in the recycling bin; no where to be found.

  • Cannot Install Itunes - Help Please!!

I have just got my first Ipod (Touch) and I have downloaded iTunes for windows when I try to install it I get this exact message:::
Unable to install the GEAR driver set at this time. The
GEARAspiWDM service used by the GEAR driver set is
scheduled to be deleted during the next system
reboot. Please reboot the system and run iTunes again.
When I reboot it just says exactly the same. Anyone any ideas????
Laptop running Windows XP SP2 (cannot seem to be able to upgrade to SP3 either)

When you get this message you need to manually remove the Gear drivers before installing iTunes.
    See this Gear Support thread:

The second post contains a link to the removal method.

  • After trying to install last update my itunes now doesn't work- have tried reinstalling and it gets struck saying mobile device not responding. Itunes says unable to successfully install itunes.

After a message on my computer to install an update a few days ago- I now can't open Itunes and have a message saying a module isn't working and I need to re install Itunes. However when I try to reinstall Itunes I keep getting an error message saying mobile device not working and then a message saying unable to install itunes.  Any clues- Is apple stuffing up agian or is my computer mis behaving?

Try a more recent version of my advice. The "for older video cards version" may work when the default version doesn't.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • How do you install itunes helper ?

what is the itunes helper ? how do i install it correctly ?

If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

After I download it, a message pops up saying Apple Mobile Device failed to start and to verify if I have suffient privileges to start system services. Then when I press ignore, it gives an Error 2 (Apple Application support was not found).

  • I am unable to successfully install itunes 10.5. I can download it, but when I go to install the program it says that a program could not be run and it won't give the name of the program. I have the vista 64-bit system.

I cannot install iTunes 10.5. I can download it, but when I go to install it says that a program cannot be run and it won't give the name of the program. I have the Windows Vista 64-bit system.

That would be my first guess.  You might be trying to install the 32 bit version of the program.
Update the thread with more info on your apple software etc if its a 64 bit install you're trying to perform.
