Unable to re-install my HP3050A wireless printer

I've had my printer working for a couple of years now fine.  In the weekend we had to re-configure our wi-fi, since this we have not been able to connect to our wireless printer.
I un-installed the printer settings and then downloaded the drivers to re-install.  The printer cant be located by the computer, it then prompts me to connect the printer and the computer by USB to setup the wireless connection.  I connect the two and nothing happens - it states " you will be prompted to disconnect the cable after the wireless network setup is complete".  Nothing happens.
Plaese any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @MontyBroun  , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you are experiencing problems connecting your printer through the software.  I would like to assist!
I'd recommend starting with a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

looks like this is your network connection settings problem, you'd better only keep one network adaptor online and linked, if you do not understand how to setup windows routing, this is completely not firefox problem. buddy. wish you goodluck.

  • How do I install a non-wireless printer (Photosmart 3210a) over a network?

I have just reported a problem to HP following downloading installation files as follows: With a new Pavilion system unit running Windows 7 Professional, to which is connected by USB a Photosmart 3210a, I wished have full access to the printer from a networked laptop running Windows XP.  This had been perfectly possible when I was using the previous system unit which also ran XP.
The downloaded files for 7 installed without problem, the printer being detected straight away.  When I downloaded the updated installation files for the laptop the software would not find the printer on the network since it seemed it was suitable only for a wireless enabled printer, and could not detect the printer attached to the system unit.
Whilst I appreciate that the majority of printers now available are wireless enabled, I find it slightly underhand to effectively disable an otherwise perfectly satisfacory and well-appointed piece of equipment.  I would have thought that there ought to be a fix for this omission.
I should add that the original installation disk would not run, and required me to download an updated file for the XP OS.  It was this file which caused the problem

I connected my Brother printer via USB cable.
You posted in the support forum for the Apple wireless routers.....the products shown below. Although you do not mention that you connected your printer to the USB port on the Apple router......we assume that this is what you meant to say.  Would that be correct?

  • Trying to install Deskjet 3054A wireless printing with brand new Mac Book Pro

    Hello,
I am trying to set up the wireless printing function on the Deskjet 3054A with a new Mac Book Pro, but not having any luck. When I connect via the USB the printer shows up, but once disconnected there is no communication. I tried to get the updated driver on the HP site, but nothing ever downloaded and it kept taking me to the setup page.
Is this All-In-One compatible with the new Mac OS 10.10 for wireless printing?
    Thank
    Scott

    Hello Sabuff,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some connectivity issues to you Mac 10.10.
Just so you are aware, the printer does not have a full feature software and driver package available for the Mac 10.10 operating system.
You can however try the HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X.
Please feel free to write me back with any other questions or concerns.

  • HP3050A - wireless printing fine but eprint wont connect?

I've got my HP3050A printing wirelessly from my laptop, but eprint wont work, when I go into the eprint menu on the printer its telling me that it can't connect to the internet...?
I've run a network confoguration page which says everything is connected fine, the printer display is showing the wireless facility is connected with a full signal strength.
    Am I missing something obvious??
This is a printer I've had for a few months, which was previously working fine both wirelessly and via eprint, right from the initial setup everything connected fine - however, today it lost the connection and I had to set it all up again, which this time took a couple of attempts.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks in advance.

    hopelesscase,
It sounds like you need to set a static IP for your printer. Sometimes when you lose connection it has trouble connecting right back for ePrint. Here are the steps to follow to set a static IP and Google DNS using the printer settings:
    - Print a Network Configuration Page from the front of the printer. Take a look at  the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to open the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab at the top. then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you should click the radio button for the option that says "Manual IP"
    - Then underneath the empty boxes you should see a box that says " Suggest Manual IP" click it
    - This should fill in the empty boxes. Now go down to the DNS section.
    - Here in the primary or preferred section insert the numbers 8.8.8.8 in the fields
    - Then in the secondary section insert the numbers 8.8.4.4 in the fields.
    - Go down to the bottom of the screen and click on apply.
Give it a few minutes and then power cycle the printer. When you power the printer back up go ahead and try to connect to web services now.
Let us know if you need any help with this.
If I helped you at all it would be great if you clicked the blue kudos star!

  • Unable to set static IP to wireless printer Officejet 6600

First sorry my poor english, still keep trying  We do have an HP Officjet 6600 Printer for about 6 months. This printer has USB and WLAN, but no LAN port. We used the printer until 2 weeks ago. At that time, **bleep** starts ...As long as we used the printer, he was connected via Automated WLAN (DHCP) and everything worked fine. The printer was connected to our WLAN Modem which assigned the DHCP IP Adress automatically. Then, our Internet provider updated our cable modem, which is also our WLAN router, and since that time, the printer does not work anymore. He always shows an error after booting, and told us to restart the printer, and all lamps of the printer are continously blinking. There is no way to access the printer menus on the printer. After a long and intensiv internet research, i found out that the cable modem is responsible for the printer error! It looks like the WLAN DHCP Server of the cable modem sends DHCP messages, which the printer cannot use correctly. If I shut down the modem (with the integrated WLAN router), the printer boots normal without an error, but I cannot use him becaused he is not connected to WLAN as because the modem is offline. So I wanted to set the printer to not use DHCP by assigning static IP to the printer. But this does not work! I tried 10 times or more to assign static IP, Subnet, Gateway and DNS-Server, no way, the printer always show "IP not set" (same for the others). Can anybody tell me why I'm not able to set static IP, Gateway etc. to the printer?!Thanks for every suggestion.

Hi , Thanks for reaching out to the HP Forums. I understand you are having some difficulty modifying your network settings. Since you now have a new cable modem, let's start with a more basic approach. Please use the following document for instruction to reset the printer to your new network settings: Connecting the Printer After Changing Your Wireless Network.  You may notice, when you open the link, that the full title mentions the Photosmart B209a, the instructions presented apply to your printer to so please don't be alarmed. I hope this helps.

  • HP Software finds the printer, but then "the printer was unable to be installed over the network"

I have tried to search for a similar issue, but haven't had any success yet.  I doubt I'm the first with this problem!
The computer is XP SP3, the printer is Deskjet 3050A, and it's a WPA-PSK WiFi.
The printer confirms that it is connected to the WiFi.
When I run the setup tool on the computer, at the Network Check point, the setup software finds the printer at the correct IP address.  It is the only thing it discovers.
I click next, ànd after a minute or two, I get the error "the printer was unable to be installed over the wireless network"  Click Retry to try installing the printer over the network again, or click Cancel to return to the connection options.
This just cycles with no progress.  I have turned off the Windows Firewall and also disabled the AV.  No change.
I can browse to the web interface of the printer - but still can't install the printer.  It is listed in the Printers and Faxes as being Offline.
I'll try once again removing it, and re-adding it - but has anyone come across this problem before, please?
    This question was solved.

I am having a similar problem as well.  The printer is recognized (most of the time) when I run the HP Network DIagnostic Utility.  However, when I run the Add a Device setup program to install my wireless printer, it is NEVER recognized.  I have even tried to use the advvanced serach to locate it using the IP listed in the Diagnostic Utility without any luck.  As an aside, I was able to add the printer through windows just fine and am currently able to print to it, but would really like to add it using the HP installation so that I can configure the "scan to" settings again.
To make matters worse, I no longer have the USB cord that came with the printer because the device has been connected wirelessly for over a year now with minimal issues.  Any help getting this brick back online and connected to my network would be much appreciated!

  • Am I safe using a wireless printer on my secure network?

Just installed my first wireless printer on my laptop through my network.   Seemed to go ok.  Is there a security risk using the WPA button where other users could also connect to my network. I ended up using the connect to my computer option when it failed.  Is there any risk to using my printer to print online bank statements? Basically, How secure am I.
I do figure its risky connecting to an un-secured network such as a hot spot or hotel network when not at home.
If this is a repeat question I don't want to be a nuisance.  Please let me know the link and I'll read through.  I'm new to these wireless hardware hookups other than bluetooth speakers and such.
I spoke to one knowledgable person and he said unless someone knows the key they can't access it. At the same time he said to make sure the software is always up to date for the most protection.  Why do I need protection if it can't be accessed???
    Thanks
ps what's this about message tags??? Can you tell that I'm new

    Hi,
You dont have to fiddle around with the wireless channel and calling your isp and all, i install these every day to my customers, when i get any issues i follow these three methods, one of them works
    HP Printer Wireless Setup
HP Automatic Wireless Configuration or (HP Auto Wireless Connect)  HP printer Wireless Setup, includes Auto Wireless Connect technology that allows connecting the printer to the wireless network automatically without having to connect any cables or enter wireless network settings such as wireless password or id. All new HP printers will have this capability during the software installation process. In some cases computers or the network configurations are compatible with HP Auto Wireless Connect. In these cases, an alternate wireless setup method will be offered. To be compatible with HP Auto Wireless Connect, the following conditions must be met: Your computer uses Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.5 +. Your computer uses a wireless connection to your network and the operating system is in control of the wireless adapter so that the HP Software can retrieve the computer’s current network settings. Your computer is connected to your 802.11b/g/n wireless router over a 2.4 GHz connection.
NOTE: HP Printers are currently not compatible with 802.11n 5.0 GHz networks.Your computer does not use a static static IP address. Your printer is in HP Auto Wireless Connect mode. The printer will be in this mode for one hour after it is first powered on during installation before it is connected to a network. If your printer has been powered on for more than one hour and the software has not yet tried to connect the printer to your wireless network, you can reset this mode by using the Restore Network Defaults option from the printer control panel. Refer to your printer documentation for how to perform Restore Network Defaults. Other environmental and technical factors may also affect whether HP Auto Wireless Connect is offered.
If HP Auto Wireless Connect is offered during the installation of your printer, it is the recommended setup method. Part of the setup process requires your computer to be temporarily disconnected from your wireless network. During this time you will not have Internet access. Be sure to save any online work and/or downloads before continuing with this setup method. To use this option, install the software for your printer and follow the onscreen instructions. When prompted, select the “Network (Ethernet/Wireless)” connection type and then choose “Yes, send my wireless settings to the printer (recommended)”. That’s it! The HP software will do the rest. If HP Auto Wireless Connect is not offered during the software installation or if it is not successful, you will be guided to use another wireless setup method.WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) – WPS has two modes to connect devices together over a wireless connection. One is called “pushbutton” and the other is called “PIN”. Pushbutton is by far the easiest method. We will describe how to connect using the WPS pushbutton method, but not the PIN method.
For instructions on starting WPS on your printer consult your printer’s manual. However there are some conditions that need to be met in order to use WPS pushbutton mode:
Both your printer and wireless router must support WPS pushbutton mode. Consult your printer and wireless router manuals. The wireless router must have a physical WPS pushbutton available. Your network must use WPA or WPA2 security. Most WPS wireless routers will not connect using the WPS method if WEP or no security is used.  Most WPS wireless routers will not connect using the WPS method if you are using the manufacturer’s default for the network name and no security.
To connect your wireless printer to your wireless router using WPS. Start the WPS pushbutton mode on your printer. For instructions on starting WPS on your printer, consult your printer’s manual. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your router.HP Printer Wireless Setup – The Wireless Setup WizardThe Wireless Setup Wizard, which you run from the printer’s control panel. Make sure you know your network name and your security password (WEP or WPA). On the printer’s control panel, press the Setup button and then select the Network menu. The Wireless Setup Wizard displays a list of wireless networks in the area. Note:  The Setup button may appear as a wrench icon. There are differences between product models. Select your wireless network’s name from the list. If you don’t see your wireless network listed, you can enter your network name manually by scrolling to the bottom of the list. If you enter the name manually it must be exact, including upper and lower case characters. Enter your WEP key or WPA passphrase. You must enter the key or passphrase exactly, including upper and lower case characters. Your printer should connect to your wireless network. If it does not connect, you are given the opportunity to print a Wireless Network Test report that will help you find out what may be wrong.USB Setup of WirelessUSB setup of wireless – Some HP wireless printers can use this wireless setup method during the printer software installation. During this process you’ll temporarily connect a USB cable between the computer and the printer. It’s important that you connect and disconnect the cable only when prompted by the software, which will guide you through connecting and configuring your printer’s wireless connection. In some cases the software may automatically find your wireless settings for you.To connect your wireless printer to your wireless router using USB setup of wireless, proceed to Installing Printer Software.

I have been using wireless printing from my Macbook Pro (running Lion OSx 10.7.2) fine until yesterday when it just stopped working out of nowhere. I do have an entry for 'iTunes.Application.1' (below). However, I'm sure there are many more registry entries related to iTunes. In other words, adding this entry will probably not be sufficient to restore the COM functionality.

  • HP Director software won't work since I installed Linksys Wireless Print Server

I have an HP 5510 Office Jet all in one.  It comes with bundled software called HP Director that enables scanning, printing, and faxing.  The software worked fine while I had the printer connected to my pc with a USB cable.
To give myself flexibility I installed a WPSM54G Linksys Wireless G Printserver.  There is no direct connection between my printer and pc anymore.
Printing still works fine.  This is being handled by the Linksys software.
The HP Director no longer can find the printer.  When I try to scan (for example) using HP Director, I get a message that "an error occurred communicating with the printing device...".  It presumably is looking for a direct USB connection, and not finding one.
I can't find a fix on the HP site, but I imagine there must be one.  Wireless print servers have been around for quite a while.  Is there a download that will solve this problem?
    Thanks for your help.
