"Unable to read configuration"

I recently moved and am sharing a wireless connection with my neighbor, who uses static IP and 128 bit WEP. I've been able to configure all my computers, including my iMac by wiring it to a bridge.
The only thing is my AEX doesn't work, presumably because he has DHCP turned off and it doesn't have an IP assigned in the correct range. SO, I've been trying to configure it by plugging in the AEX to the bridge via ethernet and resetting.
The base station shows up in both Admin Asst and Admin Utility, with an IP address (wrong range) and everything; and the green light is on. WHen I click on "configure" in Admin Utility, it spins for a while then asks me for a password - I have entered a few different ones (I don't know if I ever gave it one), it spins some more, then says "Aiport Admin Utility was unable to read the configuration of the slected base station. An error occurred while reading the configuration." Admin Asst gives me a similar response.
How do I can get in and what do I do from there, just assign a new IP address and the SSID and voila?
Any help would be vastly appreciated. FYI I am using it to stream Airtunes to my stereo; it worked brilliantly on my old setup before moving.

First thing you need to do - ask your neighbor to provide you with a unique IP address that will work with his router.
Then temporarily cable the Airport Express directly to the ethernet port of one of your Macs. The Airport Admin Utility will now "see" and allow you to configure the Airport Express. Under the Internet tab, select to "Configure Manually", then enter the IP address and subnet mask your neighbor provided. Under the Network tab, uncheck the box to "Distribute IP addresses". Update settings to the Airport Express. You can now cable the Airport Express (and the Mac) back to the wireless bridge - and if you run the Airport Admin Utility again, it should now be able to access the configuration of the Airport Express.

  • PI 7.3 - AEX "unable to read configuration data" and login problems

    Hello Friends,
    after installation of AEX, i'm facing some problems.
    1.I'm not able to login with any user, i created during installation wizard. So i cannot check any user in NWA -> User Administration.
    2.Once more, while opening http://<host>:<port>/rep or http://<host>:<port>/dir, i get the following error message.
    Can somebody help me?
    I think, there is a problem with the users, which have been created during installation. How can i check this? Is there any chance?
    Second, if i'm able to login, i have to import the exchange profile again. This should solve the problem. Or is this wrong?

    Hi,
    I have built a 3750 switch stack (8 switches) and every now and then (random) when i do a "show run" or "write mem", i get the following error message
    NVRAM: Unable to read configuration. Try again
    It doesn't happen all the time, its a random thing. I'm currently using c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-53.SE2.bin.
    I have checked the memory and there's a lot of free memory. I am the only person consoled onto the stack. I did reboot the stack but its an intermittent problem.
    Anyone encountered this issue before?

    I have noticed the same problem when working on larger 3750 and 3750X stacks on several different code levels.  I applied the "DEBUG CONFIGURATION LOCK" command and was able to duplicate the problem.  I shut down and unused interface and tried to write the configuration and got the messages below:

  • Unable to read Configuration of AEBS

    My AEBS n has worked for about 9 months, with any problems i've had being user error or windows/mac issues. Now i've got one that I am pretty much unable to find any information on. I am able to use the internet, print, and share information from my NAS to my MacBook, MBP, Mini, and WIn7 desktop. I am unable to access the AEBS from Finder, can see but not read the configuration from any machine (MB [snow leopard], MBP [leopard], Mini [leopard] all wireless, Win7 wired), and cannot use USB drives attached to the hub attached to the AEBS. I'm thinking that the AEBS isn't functioning properly, as opposed to some configuration issue, since the issue happened pretty much out of nowhere. My MB time machine uses a drive attached to the network, which it was no longer able to find, which is how i noticed the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    "Using the AirPort Utility, I can view the very basic details of the AEBS (IP, etc), but when I double click for more detailed information, it hangs on "Reading the AirPort Extreme configuration" (I have gotten at least two different error messages, -6753 is the only one I have written down). I get the same result from three different machines."
    Temporarily, connect an ethernet cable from your computer to one of the LAN<-> ports on the AEBS. Open AirPort Utility and see if you can read the device configuration that way.
    Likewise, you can do this individually for your other devices as well

  • WorkStation 11 shared VM's suddenly get a red X and "unable to read configuration data"

    This will usually follow a re-boot of the host machine, running Windows Server 2012.
    I can then REMOVE the machine(s)
    And open the .vmx file from the file manager ...
    After which I can again share the file.
    What can I do to prevent this?  Has anyone else seen the problem?

    Highly annoying!
    Update: Restarting "VMware Workstation Server" service seems to solve it. Tried setting the service to Automatic Start (Delayed), but that didn't help.
    Update2: For now I've implemented a script (based on http://csi-windows.com/toolkit/csi-vmwsautoshutdown) that restarts the service with some delay after system startup (Scheduled Task) and forcefully starts all VM's. This seems to help ensuring the VM's Auto-Start.

  • ASDM is unable to read the configuration from ASA.

    Earlier today I was configuring the Cisco ASA (7.2(2)) using the ASDM, but after a reboot of the appliance I now get the following:
    ASDM is unable to read the configuration from ASA.
    This happens shortly after ?Loading running configuration from the device? appears in the ASDM status window.
    I have tried restarting both the appliance and my workstation, but the issue persists. I have also tried clearing the ASDM cache, but that doesn?t help either. The issue occurs whether I used the Cisco ASDM Launcher or the web interface.
    SSH access to the appliance works fine.
    Thanks for any assistance (why is it that Cisco?s GUIs always have issues?!?).

    I have exactly the same issue , SSH works fine but ASDM and Web interface reply with that error message "ASDM is unable to read the configuration from ASA".
    My ASA is a 5520 ver 7.1(2) with ASDM 5.1(2)
    Could it be something related to Java ?
    Thanks for any hint.

  • Unable to read task sequence configuration disk

    Target Server is an HP ProLiant BL460c G5
    I'm trying to load my reference iso via the iLO connection, mounting the image to the CD drive.  I used the same process to create the WIM file on my Source Server and it worked fine.  I boot from the CD, it loads windows files, then comes up to

    Any ideas what's going on?

    In my case I had the same error using SCCM boot media in a USB 3.0 port. Solution was here to use a USB 2.0 port to solve it.

    Dear Colleague,
    I received the following error:
    WUC-6: Unable to read WebUtil configuration file
    c:\OraHome_BIForms\forms\server\webutil.cfg
    In the meantime, I have verified that my default.env file contains the following path definition:
    # webutil config file path
    WEBUTIL_CONFIG=C:\OraHome_BIForms\forms\server\webutil.cfg
    What is wrong here? Does "unable to read..." mean that the file security settings do not allow read access to the webutil.cfg file?
    I would appreciate any advice you can give me.
    Thank you and kind regards,
    Randy

    In the meantime, I have figured out the solution to my problem.
    The webutil.cfg file was not in the directory that was being pointed to in the path parameter.

    I'm using a relative path to my .pfx file for both the transportServerCredential and licenseServerCredential in the flashaccess-tenant.xml and my password has been scrambled using the Scrambler.bat.
    Also, when I verify setup using http://<LicenseServer>:8080/flashaccessserver/flashaccess/license/v2 I get the message 'License server is setup correctly.'
    Any ideas of why the Validator.bat can't read the configuration file?

    I agree with you that if I can successfully playback content the license serve is setup successfully. Here is what I've tried and how I've set things up:
    I have my license server setup (its the Protected Streaming version).
    I'm using Adobe Media Server as my content/packaging server. I successfully served Vanilla PHLS sample streams to the sample Adobe Access player on iOS devices.
    I have configured the Adobe Media Server to point to the license server and certificates as per the documenation and this Adobe Dev article (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/adobe-media-server/articles/content-protection-using-phds-phls .html). Since I am using a trial version of Adobe Access my .der files are the same for transport and packaging.
    I am using the local key mode to remove one more variable (I have setup a remote key server as well).
    I have placed a copy of the 'vod-policy.pol' policy file from the reference license server resources directory in my Adobe Media Server 'creds' directory and used the relative path '..creds/vod-policy.pol' in the httpd.conf file.
    When I attempt to load the sample stream http://<mymediaserver>/hls-vod/sample2_1000kbps.f4v.m3u8 using the Adobe Access sample player on my iOS device I receive the following errors in the player:
    DRM error Major[3363] minor:[0] NSError:(null)]
    From my knowledge of working with the Adobe Access Objective C library to create a PhoneGap plugin it appears that a decrypted playlist is not being returned by the Adobe Media Server. Additionally, I can find no information in the Adobe Media Server or Adobe Access logs that pertain to my setup.
    I would love to have someone from Adobe speak to the problems I am having. I find the documentation to be hit and miss and most of my successful results during this proofing process have been from piecing together disparate pieces of information and trial and error. Information on using the Adobe Media Server with Adobe Access is limited to one Devnet article (above) and the help in Adobe Media Server that doesn't explain pathing to the license server or Java policy files in any detail.

  • TcpListener not working on Azure: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

    Hi Everybody,
    i'm playing a little bit with Windows Azure and I'm blocked with a really simple issue (or maybe not).
    I've created a Cloud Service containing one simple Worker Role. I've configured an EndPoint in the WorkerRole configuration, which allows Input connections via tcp on port 10100.
    Here the ServiceDefinition.csdef file content:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <ServiceDefinition name="EmacCloudService" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ServiceHosting/2008/10/ServiceDefinition" schemaVersion="2014-01.2.3">
    <WorkerRole name="TcpListenerWorkerRole" vmsize="Small">
    <Imports>
    <Import moduleName="Diagnostics" />
    <Import moduleName="RemoteAccess" />
    <Import moduleName="RemoteForwarder" />
    </Imports>
    <Endpoints>
    <InputEndpoint name="Endpoint1" protocol="tcp" port="10100" />
    </Endpoints>
    </WorkerRole>
    </ServiceDefinition>
    This WorkerRole is just creating a TcpListener object listening to the configured port (using the RoleEnvironment instance) and waits for an incoming connection. It receives a message and returns a hardcoded message (see code snippet below).
    namespace TcpListenerWorkerRole
    using System;
    using System.Net;
    using Microsoft.WindowsAzure.ServiceRuntime;
    using System.Net.Sockets;
    using System.Text;
    using Roche.Emac.Infrastructure;
    using System.IO;
    using System.Threading.Tasks;
    using Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Diagnostics;
    using System.Linq;
    public class WorkerRole : RoleEntryPoint
    public override void Run()
    // This is a sample worker implementation. Replace with your logic.
    LoggingProvider.Logger.Info("TcpListenerWorkerRole entry point called");
    TcpListener listener = null;
    try
    listener = new TcpListener(RoleEnvironment.CurrentRoleInstance.InstanceEndpoints["Endpoint1"].IPEndpoint);
    listener.ExclusiveAddressUse = false;
    listener.Start();
    LoggingProvider.Logger.Info(string.Format("TcpListener started at '{0}:{1}'", RoleEnvironment.CurrentRoleInstance.InstanceEndpoints["Endpoint1"].IPEndpoint.Address, RoleEnvironment.CurrentRoleInstance.InstanceEndpoints["Endpoint1"].IPEndpoint.Port));
    catch (SocketException ex)
    LoggingProvider.Logger.Exception("Unexpected exception while creating the TcpListener", ex);
    return;
    while (true)
    Task.Run(async () =>
    TcpClient client = await listener.AcceptTcpClientAsync();
    LoggingProvider.Logger.Info(string.Format("Client connected. Address='{0}'", client.Client.RemoteEndPoint.ToString()));
    NetworkStream networkStream = client.GetStream();
    StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(networkStream);
    StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(networkStream);
    writer.AutoFlush = true;
    string input = string.Empty;
    while (true)
    try
    char[] receivedChars = new char[client.ReceiveBufferSize];
    LoggingProvider.Logger.Info("Buffer size: " + client.ReceiveBufferSize);
    int readedChars = reader.Read(receivedChars, 0, client.ReceiveBufferSize);
    char[] validChars = new char[readedChars];
    Array.ConstrainedCopy(receivedChars, 0, validChars, 0, readedChars);
    input = new string(validChars);
    LoggingProvider.Logger.Info("This is what the host sent to you: " + input+". Readed chars=" + readedChars);
    try
    string orderResultFormat = Encoding.ASCII.GetString(Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("\xB")) + @"MSH|^~\&|Instrument|Laboratory|LIS|LIS Facility|20120427123212+0100||ORL^O34^ORL_O34| 11|P|2.5.1||||||UNICODE UTF-8|||LAB-28^IHE" + Environment.NewLine + "MSA|AA|10" + Environment.NewLine + @"PID|||patientId||""""||19700101|M" + Environment.NewLine + "SPM|1|sampleId&ROCHE||ORH^^HL70487|||||||P^^HL70369" + Environment.NewLine + "SAC|||sampleId" + Environment.NewLine + "ORC|OK|orderId|||SC||||20120427123212" + Encoding.ASCII.GetString(Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("\x1c\x0d"));
    writer.Write(orderResultFormat);
    catch (Exception e)
    LoggingProvider.Logger.Exception("Unexpected exception while writting the response", e);
    client.Close();
    break;
    catch (Exception ex)
    LoggingProvider.Logger.Exception("Unexpected exception while Reading the request", ex);
    client.Close();
    break;
    }).Wait();
    public override bool OnStart()
    // Set the maximum number of concurrent connections
    ServicePointManager.DefaultConnectionLimit = 12;
    DiagnosticMonitor.Start("Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Plugins.Diagnostics.ConnectionString");
    RoleEnvironment.Changing += RoleEnvironment_Changing;
    return base.OnStart();
    private void RoleEnvironment_Changing(object sender, RoleEnvironmentChangingEventArgs e)
    // If a configuration setting is changing
    LoggingProvider.Logger.Info("RoleEnvironment is changing....");
    if (e.Changes.Any(change => change is RoleEnvironmentConfigurationSettingChange))
    // Set e.Cancel to true to restart this role instance
    e.Cancel = true;
    As you can see, nothing special is being done. I've used the RoleEnvironment.CurrentRoleInstance.InstanceEndpoints to retrieve the current IPEndpoint.
    Running the Cloud Service in the Windows Azure Compute Emulator everything works fine, but when I deploy it in Azure, then I receive the following Exception:
    2014-08-06 14:55:23,816 [Role Start Thread] INFO EMAC Log - TcpListenerWorkerRole entry point called

    I've already tried to configure an internal port in the ServiceDefinition.csdef file, but I get the same exception there.
    As you can see, the client can connect to the service (the log shows the message: Client connected with the address) but when it tries to read the bytes from the stream, it throws the exception.
    For me it seems like Azure is preventing the retrieval of the message. I've tried to disable the Firewall in the VM in Azure and the same continues happening.
    I'm using Windows Azure SDK 2.3
    Any help will be very very welcome!
    Thanks in advance!

    hi Javier,
    I changed your code like this:
    private AutoResetEvent connectionWaitHandle = new AutoResetEvent(false);
    public override void Run()
    TcpListener listener = null;
    try
    listener = new TcpListener(
    RoleEnvironment.CurrentRoleInstance.InstanceEndpoints["Endpoint"].IPEndpoint);
    listener.ExclusiveAddressUse = false;
    listener.Start();
    catch (SocketException se)
    return;
    while (true)
    IAsyncResult result = listener.BeginAcceptTcpClient(HandleAsyncConnection, listener);
    connectionWaitHandle.WaitOne();
    The HandleAsync method is your "While (true)" code:
    private void HandleAsyncConnection(IAsyncResult result)
    TcpListener listener = (TcpListener)result.AsyncState;
    TcpClient client = listener.EndAcceptTcpClient(result);
    connectionWaitHandle.Set();
    NetworkStream netStream = client.GetStream();
    StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(netStream);
    StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(netStream);
    writer.AutoFlush = true;
    string input = string.Empty;
    try
    char[] receivedChars = new char[client.ReceiveBufferSize];
    // LoggingProvider.Logger.Info("Buffer size: " + client.ReceiveBufferSize);
    int readedChars = reader.Read(receivedChars, 0, client.ReceiveBufferSize);
    char[] validChars = new char[readedChars];
    Array.ConstrainedCopy(receivedChars, 0, validChars, 0, readedChars);
    input = new string(validChars);
    // LoggingProvider.Logger.Info("This is what the host sent to you: " + input + ". Readed chars=" + readedChars);
    try
    string orderResultFormat = Encoding.ASCII.GetString(Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("\xB")) + @"MSH|^~\&|Instrument|Laboratory|LIS|LIS Facility|20120427123212+0100||ORL^O34^ORL_O34| 11|P|2.5.1||||||UNICODE UTF-8|||LAB-28^IHE" + Environment.NewLine + "MSA|AA|10" + Environment.NewLine + @"PID|||patientId||""""||19700101|M" + Environment.NewLine + "SPM|1|sampleId&ROCHE||ORH^^HL70487|||||||P^^HL70369" + Environment.NewLine + "SAC|||sampleId" + Environment.NewLine + "ORC|OK|orderId|||SC||||20120427123212" + Encoding.ASCII.GetString(Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("\x1c\x0d"));
    writer.Write(orderResultFormat);
    catch (Exception e)
    // LoggingProvider.Logger.Exception("Unexpected exception while writting the response", e);
    client.Close();
    catch (Exception ex)
    //LoggingProvider.Logger.Exception("Unexpected exception while Reading the request", ex);
    client.Close();
    Please try it. For this error message, I suggest you could refer to this thread (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6173763/using-windows-azure-to-use-as-a-tcp-server
    ) and this post (http://stackoverflow.com/a/5420788).
