Unable to read Windows 7network in Bridge CS5

When I try to read folders on my network BR CS5 freezes.  I can move files from the network using Windows Explorer, but BR CS5 freezes.  The drives are not mapped to my laptop.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

I too had this issue but I found a way to add the folders on my network to the favorites on BR.  I open BR and then open a windows explorer (short cut is to hit "start" and "e"), then I go to the network folder or network drive that I want to appear on BR and I drag it onto the "favorites".  Now I can access the network folder or drive.  I wish Adobe BR was able to see my network but at least there is a work around.

  • Bridge CS5 won't launch

I just installed Master Collection CS5. All software runs OK,  except Bridge. It just quits without starting with usual win7's "Adobe  Bridge CS5 has stopped working". Windows 7 64bit.

Bridge CS5 wouldn't launch for me either.
It did launch from Photoshop CS5. And after that re-launches worked, even if it was not running in the background.
I tried {control} + click on the Bridge icon... nothing came up.
    Thanks,

  • Problem opening Bridge CS5 in Windows 7

When I open Bridge CS5 in Windows 7, I get a pop-up window from User Account Contro that asks "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?"  The program listed is Bridge.  If I say NO, Bridge doesn't open.  If I say YES, Bridge opens normally.  This question pops up every time I open Bridge but not with any other CS5 applications or any other program.  Any suggestions?  Thanks,

This is a permissions issue within the OS.  Next time you start Bridge right click on the icon and select "run as administrator" and choose yes.  Perhaps it will stick that way.

  • Unable to open Camera Raw 6.7 from Bridge CS5

I am unable to view the RAW images that were taken on my D90 in Bridge CS5. They show up blank with the Camera Raw logo in the center and "NEF" in the upper left hand corner. This is the first time this problem has occured because I was (and still) able to view RAW images taken from my old D40. I have tried everything including updating my Camera Raw to version 6.7.0.339, but to no avail! I have no error messages, btw. I am operating Bridge and Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 (32-bit). I found this thread, and it seems extremely helpful, but it's for Mac users: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2842306

All you need to do now is to refresh (purge) the cache.  Everything is fine with your install.
That the right version of the ACR Plug-in is installed in the correct location is proven by the screen shot of the "About Camera Raw" splash screen.  It would not show up in "About Plug-in" if it were not in the correct location.
I also take it only one instance of Camera Raw shows up in your list.
I see absolutely nothing in your first screen shot that would prevent you from sliding your mouse over to the "Purge Cache for This Folder" menu command and then letting go of the mouse.  That's all it takes.  That menu item does not appear to be grayed out.  The only thing that is not clear is whether you do in fact have a folder selected.
The reason you see the generic NEF icons without preview is that the cache for that folder was built when you still had an older version of ACR that did not support your camera.  That's why the cache needs to be purged (refreshed) now.
Humor me for a second and perform the following experiment:  Select all the generic icons you see in the Content panel in Bridge and right-click on them in order to call the "Purge Cache for Selection" command you had discovered earlier and mentioned in a previous post.  You should see the icons turn into thumbnails before your eyes.
Now you can just use the "Purge Cache for this Folder" command on any other folder containing generic NEF icons without having to select the individual icons at all.
If you already have a bunch of folders harboring generic NEF icons, go ahead and use the central Purge Cache command in Bridge preferences to purge the entire Bridge cache on your disk in one fell swoop.
Hope this helps. Let me know.

  • Bridge CS5 Windows crashes when I command/move or drag/drop files internally

Bridge CS5 crashes with a Microsoft "report error" dialog whenever I drag images from one folder to another inside of Bridge, or use the right-click "Move To . . ." mouse command.  After months of successful use of the Bridge CS5, this behavior suddenly began.  Unfortunately, I can't now remember whether I did anything to my Windows environment at that time.  Bridge does not have trouble with dragging or command/moving files into Photoshop, but dragging image files (jpg) from a search screen or the Windows Explorer can also end in a crash.
I'm running Windows XP SP3 32-bit on a 4-processor machine with adequate ram and lots of hard drive/scratch drive.  I deinstalled every trace of Bridge and reinstalled the upgrade 4.0.2.1, which makes me up to date. Working with Adobe Support I also cleared and uninstalled, and then reinstalled Photoshop, Bridge, etc. to fix some other problems.
I have experimented with purging the Bridge cache for individual folders I was dragging from and to, but didn't purge all caches.  Typically, the crash appears a few seconds after dragging/moving a file - continuosly sucking-me into thinking things are at last repaired.  On occasion images are lost - i.e. really destroyed, or dropped into some limbo somewhere.
I'd be truly grateful for any ideas to try, no matter how extensive or simple.
    Thanks!

    Hi Robert,
I'm a developer from Br team. Thanks for reporting Br. problems.
It seems like a memory issue. Please try this to help us identify the root cause:
    1. Disable all startup scripts (Edit->Preferences->Startup Scripts->Disable All), then restart Br.
    2. When Br is running, kill "SwitchBoard" process in task manager.
    3. When do Copy&Move operations, don't use Drag&Drop, try to use "Move To / Copy To" menu. (A known issue of Bridge, should be fixed in later versions)
    Does the crash still happens?
    Thanks very much!

When opening Bridge (CS6) I get the following message: "Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation" I tried and after selecting purge cache it does not allow me to select OK. Also Bridge keeps saying "Building Criteria" with the spinning wheel and nothing happens. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Please help:)

Maybe a Preferences reset can help:
Numerous program settings are stored in the Adobe Bridge preferences file, including display, Adobe Photo Downloader, performance, and file-handling options.
Restoring preferences returns settings to their defaults and can often correct unusual application behavior.
Press and hold the Ctrl key (Windows) or the Option key (Mac OS) while starting Adobe Bridge.
In the Reset Settings dialog box, select one or more of the following options:
      Reset Preferences
Returns preferences to their factory defaults. Some labels and ratings may be lost. Adobe Bridge creates a new preferences file when it starts.
    Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache
Purging the thumbnail cache can help if Adobe Bridge is not displaying thumbnails properly. Adobe Bridge re-creates the thumbnail cache when it starts.
    Reset Standard Workspaces
Returns Adobe predefined workspaces to their factory default configurations.
Click OK, or click Cancel to open Adobe Bridge without resetting preferences.

  • Unable to open camera raw 6.0 from Bridge CS5

I just Installed photoshop CS5 and I am unable to view and open my NEF files in Camera Raw from Bridge CS5.  It worked perfectly fine with Bridge CS4 and Camera Raw 5.1.0.30.  Anyone has any suggestion other than using my old Bridge CS4. I have mas OS X 10.6.3 installed on my computer.
    Many Thanks

I have de-installed and re-installed the entire photoshop CS5 and it is still the same... I am at lost and using my old CS4 bridge for now.
You'll need to confirm that the Camera Raw plug-in was correctly installed so that both Photoshop _AND_ Bridge can access it. For Mac the only correct location that is should be installed is: the root level Library (not the user Library). Inside of the Library look at Application Support/ Adobe/Plug-ins/ CS5/ File Formats/ Camera Raw.plugin
If the Camera Raw plug-in isn't there and/or any of these folders are not there then Camera Raw is not properly installed...if Camera Raw is correctly installed then you may need to do several things...first, in the folder you are trying to see raw images, go up under Tools/ Cache/ Purge Cache For Folder. If that doesn't work you may need to trash your Bridge CS5 preferences. To do that, hold down the Command/ Option/ Shift keys while double-clicking the Bridge app icon and choosing Reset Preferences...
If Camera Raw was not properly installed, sorry, can't help you...you may need to contact Customer Service for installing tech support.

And did you then actually purge the cache?

using Bridge CS5 to exporting to flickr, but get error message "Unable to connect to Flickr, please check your internet connection and try again."  please help?

I'm experiencing the same problem. Don't think I can help, but maybe I can offer an explanation. It looks as if Flickr has changed their API and Adobe will need to update the export plugin to comply to get it working again. I found this announcement on Flickr:

  • Files from Windows Vista do not open in Bridge CS5

I am having trouble opening my images from Window Explorer level with Bridge.
I tried to open my jpgs with "open with" option  and my PC does nothing. Same happens when I double click the raw images.
I have my jpgs assigned to open in windows but I assigned my raw files to open in Bridge CS5 unfortunately raws will not open after double click.
    Can someone help?
    Thanks

Perhaps it is just semantics, but you want the double click to open in Photoshop CS5 and not Bridge.  Same thing with the raw it should open in ACR and not Bridge, as Bridge is just a browser.
With your raw problem.  If you open photoshop and click help/about plug-in/camera raw you should get one version listed.  Most camera raw problems result from ACR in wrong folder, or more than one version in the folder.

  • "Open with" in Windows does not work for Bridge CS5

When I right click on a picture to open it with Bridge CS5 nothing happens. Does anybody know how to fix this?
It worked with older version of Bridge and it stopped once I installed the CS5.
    I have Windows Vista.

I found out that you can "Browse with Adobe Bridge CS5" when you right click on a folder. However this option is not available for single files. So problem is kind of solved. But if anyone knows how to open single file in Bridge please let me know.
So have you opened the fly out menu that lists the open wiht programs?  It has a option down on the bottom to set other "open with" options such as open with Bridge.  Does this not work?
It works one single files on my machine.

  • Bridge CS5 new window

On Win 7 Ultimate & Professional x64 when opening 2 Bridge CS5 windows, I cannot switch between them.
    There are 2 issues:
Let's say that initial Bridge window 1 is browing directory 1. I right-click (only right click without browsing into) on some other directory 2 and select "Open in New Window". New window 2 opens.
Issue A: At this point both Window1 and Window 2 show directory 2 contents.
Window 1 should have stayed in directory 1.
Issue B: At this point it is impossible to switch between Window 1 and Window 2

Issue A:  This also is what happens in CS3 and Vista.  So would assume this is normal.
Issue B:  You shoud have 2 tabs on the bottom of screen showing  2 windows of Bridge are open.  Clicking on the appropriate tab should make that the active window.  If it does not this would be a function of the OS and not Bridge, so check there first.
