Unable to remote control Windows 7 Workstations
I'm having problem with remote control the Win 7 machines. I would get
"Rights Authentication failed. The managed device was unable to contact the
Zenworks server." error message.
It looks like all Windows 7 machines have not been contacting the Zen server
recently eventhough they are all up and on the network. I am not having
problem with the Windows XP machine however.
I can reregister the Win 7 workstation and that would reestablish the
connection to the zen server but it would seem to stop communicating after a
day or so.
Any ideas?
thanks
That does not compute, IMHO
Please specify what ports you opened, since comm. to the ZCC servers
isn't enough for remote ctrl !

Unable to remote control 'Windows 8' applications running as administrator using OCS 2007 R2
Hi,
While we are doing desktop sharing of a windows 8 system using OCS 2007, we are unable to control a few applications such as CMD Prompt - run as administrator, Device manager, Registry, etc.. even though the UAC setting is 'Never
notify'. Whereas, we are able to control all other applications without any issue. Is this a known issue?
Thanks,
CMRHi,
Yes, it is a known issue. Here are other threads for your reference:

Firefox Selenium Remote Control window does not close.
Using Selenium 2.17 and/or Selenium 2.26 on Windows 7 we are having a problem with the Firefox Selenium RC (Remote Control) window not closing after the Selenium tests have completed.
We did not have any issues when using Firefox 10.0.1esr, but when we upgraded to 10.0.10esr the problem showed up.
Any ideas how to solve this problem? Our company requires us to be at the latest ESR release so going back to 10.0.1esr is not an option.
Any plans to resolve this problem in another ESR release?
Thanks,
KarlPlease check SAP note 1512960 and SAP note 1384496.

Remotely Control Windows 7 Home Premium
Hey,
So this is my problem: I've got two computers at home. One's a Mac and the other is a Wndows 7 Home Premium machine.
I have Lion Server coupled with ARD 3 and need to remotely control the Windows computer. I have installed VNC 4 (on Windows) but don't know what to do next.
I understand there is a bunch of restrictions within Windows 7 Home Premium when it comes to remote connections but it's something I really need to sort out.
Do you know how to set up ARD with Windows VNC (or any other paths to remote control)?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
CameronHey,
So on the Windows PC the "Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer" checkbox is marked.
And on the Mac the error message reads:
"The Mac cannot connect to the Windows based computer.
This problem can occur if:
• The Windows-based computer is not set up to accept remote connections.
• The Windows-based computer is not turned on.
• The Mac, or the Windows-based computer is experiencing network problems.
Try connecting to the Windows-based computer again, or contact your administrator."
Thanks for being so helpful!

Unable to access a windows 7 Workstation via RDP
Hi,
I have a windows 7 Pro SP1 workstation that I’m unable to access from any other machine via RDP...
This is a domain environment.
The machine in question is 100% up to date. (WSUS)
It's running an up-to-date anti-virus solution and has been scanned. (Panda cloud) (No firewall)
This is on a local network, no router involved.
Can ping the machine, can see network shares.
Checked that it's listening on the correct port.
Necessary services are running and are starting correctly.
Configured RDP correctly and tried different configurations (with and without NLA and adding/removing users)
This machine seems to be able to RDP into other machines, it just wont accept any sessions.
Assigning the necessary exclusions in firewall - no effect
Firewall is disabled by GPO and I have stopped the service - no effect.
Deleted the computer certificate - no effect.
uninstalled the RDP 8 update - no effect
Tried using both the IP and hostname - no difference
I'm completely out of ideas, no other machine I tested with is having this issue and all the domain machines are running same AV and same GPO's are applied.
Re-installation is not an option.
Below is the error - very unhelpful.
Kind Regards,
StephenHi Hinte,

Unable to remote control Tektronix TBS1062 with USB Interface
Hi,
I have recently downloaded IVI Driver for Tektronix TBS1062 from national instruments. I am using USB communication.I have configured the instrument in NI MAX and can identify the instrument successfully. However I am unable to use any of the other functions using IVI driver. The IVI Step in NI TestStand always passes without any errors and NI I/O Trace shows VI_SUCCESS but I cannot see any chanes to settings in the horizontal scale and the veritical scale as configured by the IVI step. The horizontal and vertical scales always remain the same.
I am not really sure ,But could it be because of the USB interface?? Does the driver support USB?
Did anyone have the same error or Could anyone please help resolve this issue.
Many Thanks
Solved!
Go to Solution.First thing I would do is make sure the instrument is setup properly to accept commands over the USB.
After that, try sending commands through MAX to see if the scope reacts.
Then make sure you aren't using a simulated IVI session.
There are only two ways to tell somebody thanks: Kudos and Marked Solutions -
Grant remote control privileges to multiple workstations?
We are trying to allow two of our administrative users rights to remote control about 40 workstations out of the 7000 we have in our district. Since we place workstation objects in the containers with their school, and the 40 workstations are spread one to each school, we don't want to grant remote control rights for the entire container.
I tried creating a workstation group, adding the 40 machines to the group, and then granting the trustee rights for remote control to the users, but consoleone still says they don't have enough permissions. I also tried creating a new OU and making aliases of the workstation objects, but then consoleone says that the workstation object is obsolete or invalid.
We are trying to avoid having to grant the rights on each workstation individually...and without moving the workstation objects from their current containers. Any thoughts?sledneck,

We are having a Remote control issue with more and more PC's. If they are
logged in, we can remote control them. If they have bee restarted and are
waiting to log in, then we can not remote control them. We Can use
diagnostics on them though....
Zen 4.01 ir7 is where we are.
We are also having an issue where many times after imaging, the ISD is not
populated into windows, and gets associated with our Image PC's workstation
object. If we clear the ISD, delete both workstation objects, and reboot the
target PC, it does re-import correctly. The remote control issue does not
get fixed when this happens though....
I have seen that rmerrorlog.txt has been asked for in the past to help solve
this issue, so We are including that. Any help in resolving what we have set
wrong is appreciated.

I have remote control enabled through a workstation policy associated to the Workstation container. I do not have an active user policy with remote control enabled or associated to any users.
But, It seems we can remote control into a workstation through a user's name in Console One and it overides any restrictions we had put on the policy withing the workstation policy. We are able to remote right into a user with no prompt. If we remote control into a workstation it prompts like it should.
Im kinda confused here.Bob,

Remote control and windows XP SP2
I have been creating new images and noticed that when I install windows XP
service pack 2 that the remote control client fails to load up and I cannot
control the workstations. Before placing the service pack on,the remote
control agent on the system tray loads up, but disapears after service pack 2.
I have seen this on a vairety of different workstations and different
clients. We are currently using the Novell client 4.83.3.1 SP1 and a 4.9
client.
Has anyone come across this problem?

thanx to Shawn Dakin for this solutions
1) Change the Windows Firewall/ICS service to manual
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\SharedAccess
String Value Start = 3
2) Force Windows Firewall/ICS service to start before Remote Management
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Novell User Agent
Multi String Value DependOnService = SharedAccess
NOTE: DependOnService must also contain WM
3)Set Firewall Exceptions for wuser.exe
netsh firewall add portopening UDP 1761 ZENRC Enable
netsh firewall add portopening UDP 1762 ZENRC Enable
netsh firewall add allowedprogram c:\novell\zenrc\wuser32.exe ZenRC enable
NOTE We placed the netsh commands in the autoexec.bat of every WinXpSp2
machine.
This fixed the problems for us, and allows us to remote control even if
the user is not connected.
THIS WORKS WITH ZenWorks 3.2 ONLY -
Remotely control the ITunes on Windows 7 64 bit PC with the new IPad
With the latest version of ITunes for both Win7 and the new IPad, I'm only able to use the new IPad to remotely control the ITunes on Windows 7 64 bit PC through wired connection ( ethernet cable ) to the wireless router. As soon as I connect my PC through wireless connection, the new IPad can not find my libraries.
Is this a known issue or am I missing some settings?
Thanks,Are you using the 64 bit installer?

Qosmio G30 - Media center remote control doesn't work in windows
Dear All,
I have Qosmio G30-194,
first i had a problem with the VGA , i send it for repair, when it comes back i noticed that the remote control is not working on windows Media Center, while in A/V mode it work perfectly.
I tried to do full system restore from the recovery DVD, but nothing changed, even i installed Windows Vista with all of its drivers.
Nothing changed also, I borrowed a USB IR received for another remote control it worked perfectly with my remote on windows.
Please advise me what to do, do i send it back to the service center , or there is an easier solution.

N.B, : My laptop info are:
Model Number PQG32E-01P018AR
Thank you in advancedon't expect toshiba to fix problems like this.
they replaced motherboard on my laptop and ever since the remote was not working.. it would turn the laptop on but was unresponsive thereafter. thing's we have tried:
- install software and drivers for remote again
- reinstall windows
- replace reciever
- change motherboard
- change remote
- terminate and restart relevant processes
- downgrade bios
- update bios
- combinations of the above
on several occassions Toshiba told me they were able to replicate and solve the problem but after trying it on my laptop they remembered that actually their one was slightly different.
almost a year later, i still have a non-working remote
my theory is the laptop leaves factory with certain software which Toshiba fail to include in recovery partition and\or bios that is available through them... so once you lose the factory components (i.e.the original motherboard) you also lose some necessary files with them. -
Qosmio X300 - Remote control and function bar for windows seven
Hi,
I have bought this PC with Vista x64. I have upgraded it to windows 7 (x64)
But I didn??t find driver for remote control and function bar. The drivers for Vista *64 don't work.
Help me plz.
Thanks for reading
(Sry for my bad English)Hi
The Win 7 drivers are not available for this unit at this time.
But I found some Win 7 drivers on the Toshiba US driver page.
Of course you will not find exactly the same X300 series but you can choose the drives released for Qosmio X305-xxxx
There is no big difference between X300 and X305 so the Win 7 drivers should work too -
Remote control and MCE remote on Windows
I am having issues with the remote control app on the Tablet S1 and MCE remotes on Windows 7 (64-bit). After learning the buttons for the MCE remote, pressing the same button more than once from the app does not do anything. For example, if I press the Up button the first time, it works fine. But if I press the Up button again, nothing happens. I have verified that the original MCE remote works as expected, and I have also verified that the tablet and the remote control app works with the MCE receiver connected to Ubuntu 11.10. Is anyone else running into this problem? How will the remote control app get updated (via the market or from system update)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
