Unable to remove Default Search Provider in the Web Browser

Hi Pros !!!
My Default search provider is automatically updated by VenteeRo Search Provider. When I try to move it it is giving me the following error :
Please find the following image.

This is normal behavior and you could not delete the default search provider. To resolve this problem, add another search provider and make it default, for example you could add Bing as your default search:
http://www.iegallery.com/Addons/Details/16523
When you click add, make sure to set it as default search engine and then open Manage Add-ons again and then delete the current search provider.

  • I want google as my search engine, not Bing. How do I make Google the default search engine in the "Search the Web" feature of the search bar; or, how do I remove the "Search the Web" feature of the search bar so that "Google" can be default?

I want google as my search engine, not Bing. But no matter what I do in "Manage Search Engines," Firefox seems to reset to "Search the Web," which uses Bing.
How do I make Google the default search engine in the "Search the Web" feature of the search bar; or, how do I remove the "Search the Web" feature of the search bar so that "Google" can be default? When I move "Search the Web" down and "Google" up, the search bar resets every time Firefox reloads.

Sometime Bing is not located in the Add/Remove programs section of the control panel.
6 Easy Steps to Remove Bing from Mozilla Firefox:
    1. Click on the "inverted triangle" located to the right of the orange Bing icon.
    2. Select the option "Manage Search Engines...". (A pop-up window will appear titled "Manage Search Engine List.)
    3. Select "Bing".
    4. Click the "Remove" button.
    5. Select the desired search engine from the list.
    6. Click "OK"
    All Done.... :-)

  • DNS UDP Delay - seems to be caused by default search provider

I am having trouble with my local network and UDP connections. there seems to be a 12 second delay when sending UDP connection requests. I used wireshark to spot the issues, and the results pointed toward the DNS server trying to resolve local IPs with bing.com.
I cannot seem to remove the default search provider and I do not see why it is trying to check with bing.com to get the mac address of a local IP. The ports have been added as a rule in the firewall to allow. And when using arp in the command prompt it resolves
the mac address and replies back with it in a matter of milliseconds. So I can not figure out why when I send a UDP connection from an ASP page to another computer on the network it seems to try and ask bing.com where it can find the mac address for that IP.
Does anyone know what might be causing this? I re-installed server 2008 many times and also windows 7 on the client machines and still the same results and the same delay duration.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not getting what you mean.
" I used wireshark to spot the issues, and the results pointed toward the DNS server trying to resolve local IPs with bing.com"
Do you mean that DNS requests sent to bing servers?
"I cannot seem to remove the default search provider and I do not see why it is
trying to check with bing.com to get the mac address of a local IP"
I am not getting also how a system sends a request to bing.com asking for ARP resolution. ARP is a layer 2 protocol and is mainly based on broadcasts and communications with your switches. It is not possible that ARP requests go to internet.
"So I can not figure out why when I send a UDP connection from an ASP page to
another computer on the network it seems to try and ask bing.com where it can find the mac address for that IP."
That would be great that you share the logs you have so that we can have a better visibility.
If you are using an AD domain then I would recommend that you follow the IP settings and DNS recommendations I shared in this Wiki: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/18513.active-directory-replication-issues-basic-troubleshooting-steps-single-ad-domain-in-a-single-ad-forest.aspx
That should help in fixing known issues with DNS resolution.

  • KB2988414 and default search provider via INSTALL.INS

I use Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK) to preset search providers.
IEAK lets you nominate the default search provider (the one I have preset isn't Bing).
This creates [SearchProviders] in an INSTALL.INS file.  You can transfer this to
    C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\SIGNUP\install.ins
Before installing KB2988414, this process "just works".
After installing KB2988414, when you logon with a new profile, which triggers the Internet Explorer new profile process, Internet Explorer shows
An unknown program would like to change your default search provider to "[provider]"
However, this is a legitimate, Microsoft-provided process, not malicious software.
If I remove the following parameter from the [SearchProviders] block, then I no longer get the message, but the search provider defaults to Bing.
    Default1=1
I believe this is a defect.
    Kind regards,
    Anwar

    Hi  Anwar,
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section, the explanation can be found at:

  • Windows 8.1 not letting me change my default search provider

I recently upgraded my PC to Windows 8.1 and I am trying to set Google as my default search engine in Internet Explorer. I’ve worked through the process of changing this to Google but it’s not
working. I click the ‘add to internet explorer’ button and nothing happens, I got someone to test on a Windows 7 PC and they get a pop-up saying ‘Do you want to add this search provider?’ However on my Windows 8.1 machine this pop-up doesn’t appear.

    Hi,
After you get to the “Manage add-ons” item, you can add more search provider in the following way:
    1. Go to Search Provider, and then at the bottom part, click “Find more search providers…” just like the screenshot below:
    2. Find the Google provider and choose the one, you can set it as a default by clicking at the right corner of the pane as the screenshot below:

  • How do I change the default search engine in the address bar?

I am trying to change the default search engine in the address bar to Scroogle SSL, I have tried editing about.config but it either goes to Google or on rare occasions it has opened to Scroogle SSL and the address bar shows https://ssl.scroogle.org/(+whatever was entered), while the main window shows a proxy error .
I have an idea that something needs to be added at the end of the URL in about.config to actually make it search.
Can anybody tell me what the specific settings would be to get this working?
I have Scroogle SSL in the search engine list but I want to remove the search box to save space.
Also I cannot get the search to open in a new tab even though browser.search.openintab is set to True.
    Thanks in advance.
    == Operating system ==
    XP-SP3

Hi, having tried both ways myself what you say is true but that is not the source of my confusion.
(In fact I discovered that when I set the same thing up in Opera10.53 everything up to the ? appears on one line in the setup and the Gw=%s on another.)
What I cannot understand is why, if I am using Scroogle SSl search it is opening the OpenDNS guide.
If I use my Scroogle SSL home page it opens a minimal Google search page, the same thing happens if I use the search box. I expected this would be the same as well or am I missing something?
OpenDNS is preferable to Google but not what I was looking for.
Since I started writing this I have just discovered that changing the keyword.URL does not affect this.
Earlier I recovered my system from an image which undid the changes that I had made to about.config, I have run searches both before and after I edited it again. Both times I finished up on OpenDNS?

  • How do I set Google as the default search engine in the URL search field (now have Yahoo)?

I'd like Firefox to use Google as the default search engine for the URL search field, instead of Yahoo as I currently have. I've tried to find a place to reset this in Preferences but can't find a solution. Would be very grateful for any advice. Imagine it's simple.
NB: I'm talking of the left search field, not the right search engine one where it's easy enough to define.

You can reset the prefs general.useragent.override and keyword.URL on the about:config page.<br />

  • Vista - Several problems! 1-Corrupt default search provider; 2-Viewing files errors; and 3-BlueScreen error

I've got Windows Vista and can't download I.E. 10 (as someone in a previous question said solved their problem) I, too, get the message, "A program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for I.E. I.E. reset to original provider
Google and will now open search settings..." Whenever I get to the search menu, addons/toolbars - the Google application is not verified and the "Top Search Results" is not available. I've tried checking the box "Prevent search providers
    from..." but that doesn't help.
I've also encountered another problem that started 6 months ago, where if I try to read a report (specifically docket files through the county judicial portal) I get a blank page. Prior to this I was able to view all dockets. Don't know why!
And, last but not least! I just checked "troubleshooting problems" and see there was a device driver problem found from 5/10/14. Information is as follows:

    Hi,
In order to assist you, we will need the .DMP files to analyze what exactly occurred at the time of the crash, etc.
If you don't know where .DMP files are located, here's how to get to them:
    1. Navigate to the %systemroot%\Minidump folder.
    2. Copy any and all DMP files in the Minidump folder to your Desktop and then zip up these files.
    3. Upload the zip containing the .DMP files to Onedrive or a hosting site of your choice and paste in your reply. Prefered sites: Onedrive, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc. Nothing with wait-timers.
4 (optional): The type of .DMP files located in the Minidump folder are known as Small Memory Dumps. In %systemroot% there will be what is known as a Kernel-Dump (if your system is set to generate). It is labeled MEMORY.DMP. The difference
between Small Memory Dumps and Kernel-Dumps in the simplest definition is a Kernel-Dump contains
much more information at the time of the crash, therefore allowing further debugging of your issue. If your upload speed permits it, and you aren't going against any strict bandwidth and/or usage caps, etc, the Kernel-Dump is the best
choice. Do note that Kernel-Dumps are much larger in size due to containing much more info, which is why I mentioned upload speed, etc.
If you are going to use Onedrive but don't know how to upload to it, please visit the following:
Upload photos and files to Onedrive.
Please note that any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, etc, by default will delete .DMP files upon use.
If your computer is not generating .DMP files, please do the following:
    1. Start > type %systemroot% which should show the Windows folder, click on it. Once inside that folder, ensure there is a Minidump folder created. If not, CTRL-SHIFT-N to make a New Folder and name it Minidump.
    2. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Ensure there's a check-mark for 'Automatically manage paging file size for all
    drives'.
    3. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System Failure > ensure there is a check mark next to 'Write an event to the system
    log'.
Ensure Small Memory Dump is selected and ensure the path is %systemroot%\Minidump.
    4. Double check that the WERS is ENABLED:
Start > Search > type services.msc > Under the name tab, find Windows Error Reporting Service > If the status of the service is not Started then right click it and select Start. Also ensure that under Startup Type it is set to Automatic rather than
Manual. You can do this by right clicking it, selecting properties, and under General selecting startup type to 'Automatic', and then click Apply.
If you cannot get into normal mode to do any of this, please do this via Safe Mode.
    Regards,
    Patrick

I am creating an aperture book from my photos. How do I change the default map provided in the theme to one of my choice e.g. satellite view?

    Kyle,
Thanks for your response. To be clear, the way I am importing the PDF is by going to New in LiveCycle, and selecting Import a PDF document, and selecting Create and Interactive Form with Fixed Pages.
I cannot change the forms or pages, as they are created by our local Board. In otherwords, I have tryed used the flowable content, and upon import, not only are the fonts slightly different, but all the important artwork (trade-related) is gone, and is not in the exact positions it was in. The forms must meet the standards to which they were approved by the regional board, and there are state-mandated forms as well.
What surprises me is that you say this method of Fixed Content isn't used much any more. I would think that a lot of people would have PDF files they would wish to make into fillable, interactive forms without needing to reconstruct the entire document. Perhaps a company that has always done things on paper, and now wishes to use those exact same forms on the computer, with no deviations to looks so they can be printed and match up perfectly.
I thought about using Acrobat's internal form creation system. However, some of these forms have sophisticated options and the calculation scripts and systems within LiveCycle are very useful. Not to mention that it has a much larger scalability, should we chose to utilize it.
Any other suggestions? I am so confused why Adobe would force medium-quality import of a PDF, but be so incredibly flexible about every other option in their program.

  • How do I change the default iPhoto library for the Media Browser?

I have multiple Aperture/iPhoto Libraries. When I open the new Keynote and attempt to use the Media Browser to select a photo, the pictures the Media Browser displays are not from the Default Libary.
Is there a way to change the default photo library that the Media Browser references?

    Hello danstat,
Thank you for the question.  The Media Browser accesses iPhoto's last opened photo library.  To access that photo library through the Media Browser, quit Keynote, access that photo library in iPhoto, quit iPhoto, and relaunch Keynote.
You can access the an alternate photo library using these steps:
    To switch between photo libraries:
    Quit iPhoto.
Hold down the Option key as you open iPhoto.
Select the library you want to switch to.
    Click Choose.

Alternatively, you can drag the photo in directly to youre Keynote presentation from the iPhoto or Aperture windows.

Computer works great but I cannot update the web browser as there are no updates available on Firefox. I have Norton as the antivirus program. Any suggestions on how to remedy this? I have windows XP

You are using Firefox 3.6.3 which is an old version, the current version is 3.6.13.
To update it either use the "Check for updates" option in the Help menu, or download and install the latest version from http://www.mozilla.com/
