Unable to remove DVD drive from Pavillion Slimline S3015 UK - Help Required

We have a Pavillion Slimline PC model 3015 UK which we are about to upgrade the RAM Memory, inorder to access the RAM we need to remove the DVD drive.
OK having followed the support instruction here
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01049980&tmp_task=useCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=u...
At present  the Drive is not moving forward even though the two cables are out and applying presure to the lever on the RH as per the instructions to release the DVD unit.
The model we have does not allow access to the LH side screws, if there is one holding the unit you cannot see it as there is another metal casing in the way.
YOur comments & advice most welcomed, we need to use the PC on a daily basis.
Whats the best route forward ?

To remove the dvd drive, the expansion slot below the dvd does have a brown lever you push on and then the expansion slot slides to the back of the computer and comes out.  And like the other comment says you will see the obvious screw underneath the dvd.  Once this is removed then DVD slides forward....

  • I'm unable to remove my keyboard from my laptop. Please help.

I'm trying to clean my laptop fan due to overheating. So I tried to disassemble my laptop but i'm stuck at the stage where the keyboard should be removed. My laptop model is HP Pavilion dv6-6144ca and I've looked up its manual on removing the keyboard. The manual (pages 71-72 http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842252.pdf )
instructs to do the following things to remove the keyboard:
    1. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screw that secures the keyboard to the computer.
    2. Rest the computer on its left side.
    3. Open the computer.
    4. Insert a screw driver or similar thin tool into the keyboard screw hole, and then press on the back
of the keyboard until the keyboard disengages from the computer.
    5. Turn the computer right-side up with the front toward you.
    6. Lift the rear edge (1) of the keyboard, and then slide the keyboard (2) back until the keyboard cable is accessible.
I'm stuck on step 4. I've tried pushing a screwdriver and then the stick part of a cotton swab through the hole, but I still can't seem to disengage the keyboard, as it should like it's shown in the manual, from the laptop. I even put a lot of pressure when pushing, but still no luck. So I stopped it because I felt I could break something if I put any more pressure than I already did.
I don't know what to do. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Please help.

Hi HP-66, welcome to the HP Forums. I understand that you are having difficulty removing your keyboard. Take a look at this YouTube video between 1:45-2:12 which shows someone successfully removing the keyboard.

  • Need help removing hard drive from Time Machine exclusion list

I have a 1TB Western Digital Essential hard drive with about 500Gb of music, movies and other assorted data tethered directly to my iMac. I also have a 1TB Time Capsule that serves as my wireless router and connects to my iMac over the wireless network. I'm trying to use the Time Capsule as the ultimate backup device, to backup the data on my iMac and the tethered 1TB Western Digital hard drive via Time Machine. It already backs up all the data on my iMac, but unfortunately, Time Machine places the 1TB Western Digital hard drive in the exclusion list (which I understand is normal), but will not let me click the minus sign to remove the drive from the exclusion list (which is where I'm at a loss). Someone please help me find a way around this as I've been unable to find a way to remove the Western Digital drive from the exclusion list and have Time Capsule access its data. Many thanks in advance for any help with this.

    gotham,
Forgive me, but are you highlighting the drive in the list before you click the "-" button?
Also, were is the external drive? Connected to your Mac or the TC. If the TC, then Time Machine won't backup the external drive. It needs to be connected to the Mac directly.
Otherwise, you can delete the TM .plist.
*Delete The Time Machine Preference .plist*
Go to --> Macintosh HD / Library / Preferences (Note: NOT Home / Library / Preferences).
    Drag the .plist file labeled,
    com.apple.TimeMachine.plist
to the root level of your Macs’ hard drive.
    Reboot your computer.
This .plist file is automatically recreated at startup if it is missing.
You will need to reselect your Time Capsule in the TM Prefs for backup.
Now try 'removing' the other drive form the exclusion list.
Let us know if this helped resolve your issue.
    Cheers!

  • Remove DVD Drive on DX730

Need instructions for removing DVD drive on LX730 All In One.  Does not seem to have small screw like laptops have.  Need to remove to install HDD in optical bay using caddy from NEWMODEUS.  Already did so on Qosmio X505.  Also, would like to know where to get SERVICE manual for DX730 (not user manual).

Ok … got the DX-730 and looked it over myself.   There is a panel near the big V stand attachment point with a single small screw.  That looked suspiciously like a removable panel.  I removed the screw and pried along the top edge with a small flat screwdriver.  This disconnected the plastic retaining tabs, and I popped off the panel.  It was very similar to removing the memory panel.
Ah ha!  Upon inspection, I saw a small screw on a bracket near where one would think the DVD retaining screw would need to be.  Once removed, the DVD drive easily slid out.  Success!
I placed the ODHD caddy from NEWMODEUS into the optical bay.  (The ODHD caddy carries a SSD or HDD in an optical form-factor caddy, allowing a SSD/HDD to be mounted where the optical drive typically would be).  The optical bay uses one of the SATA channels.
Good news is that from within Windows 7 that second HDD is visible and usable.  Very nice way to add a second drive to these single-drive all-in-ones, that unlike laptops, don’t have two HDD bays built in.
Bad news is the BIOS does not see the HDD device as an optical device (well … it isn’t) and won’t boot from the second drive.  I wanted to run a second version of Windows, bootable from the physical second drive, but that is not possible.  However, I can have a second hard drive for data or backup, and that is good.  I can also use the ODHD caddy to carry the “external” HDD from computer-to-computer.
I am not a shill for NEWMODEUS; in fact, other companies make the same type of caddies.  I just had very good response and success from them.  I wanted to post my experience of getting to the screw that allows optical drive removal and share my success of adding a second hard drive.

  • Removing hard drives from Mac g4 tower dual proc?

I have the original hard drive, plus two added drives, in my PowerMac G4 tower, (dual mirrored drive doors).  All the photos/videos/instructions online, don't seem to match my configuration, where the original drive is vertical, along the back of the tower, under the horizontal power supply, while the added drives are under the CD and DVD drives at the front of the tower.  I need data fromt the drive related to a thesis project, as well as other work, have had a grey screen problem (unrelated to the drives) that is unresolvable, so bought a G5, and will use some drives and new wireless card from G4 that are compatable.  I have tried to put G4 tower in target disk mode to transfer to G5 via firewire, but no luck.  Drives don't show on desktop.  Since intending to remove all drives from G4 anyway, will try to use them externally, or internally, to access files.
Problem is, I can't access where it looks like the screws are for the original vertical hard drive, can't find instructions online, or examples that look lik mine. What else needs to be removed in order to access this?  Please Help!

The drives will not work internally in the G5 if they're IDE/ATA drives, G5s use SATA drives, but there are some external options.
It's been a long time, but I seem to remember the rear Drive(s) cage was released with a gray or maybe tan lever that needed pushing one way while sliding the cage...
AHA, there the little beggar is, Step 6...

    Hi Jurgen,
when i check the material document and accounting document,it was showing that said amount in negative sign and transaction done by MI10 means posted differences with out reference to document.
it means the user may entered wrongly i think.
was there any GRIR account for MI10?
MI10 does not have reversal or cancel?
    so how to resolve it?
as per my idea it can be done by FI posting.

  • Unable to remove a host from VMM - Error (2606) Unable to perform the job because one or more of the selected objects are locked by another job.

I am unable to remove a host from my Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2. I receive the following error:
    Error (2606)
Unable to perform the job because one or more of the selected objects are locked by another job.
    Recommended Action
To find out which job is locking the object, in the Jobs view, group by Status, and find the running or canceling job for the object. When the job is complete, try again.
I have already tried running the following command in SQL Server Management Studio
    SELECT * FROM [VirtualManagerDB].[dbo].[tbl_VMM_Lock] where TaskID='Task_GUID'
    I received this error back:
    Msg 8169, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier.
I have also tried rebooting both the host and the Virtual Machine Manager Server.  After rebooting them both, I still receive the same error when trying to remove the host.
    Here are my server details
VMM Server OS = Windows 2012 Standard
    VMM Version = 2012 R2 3.2.7510.0
    Host OS = Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter
    Host Agent Version = 3.2.75.10.0
SQL Server OS = Windows 2012 Datacenter
    SQL Version = 2012 SP 1 (11.0.3000.0)

    Hi there,
How many hosts are you managing with your VMM server?
The locking job might be the background host refresher job. Did you see any jobs in the jobs view, when the host removal job failed?
If there is no active jobs in the jobs view when this host removal job fails, can you please turn on the VMM tracing, retry the host removal, and paste back the traces for the failed job (search for exception and paste the whole stack)?
    Thanks!
    Cheng

  • Swapping DVD drive from 667MHz Titanium PB to my 12" PB

The DVD drive on my 12" 1GHz Powerbook has died. When I put in a CD or DVD, I get what a lot of other people have been describing. The disk goes in, I hear one set of clicks, and the disk gets ejected. I have a dead 667 MHz Titanium Powerbook. Does anybody know if the DVD drive from that PB will work in my 12" PB? The Titanium DVD drive is read only (will read and write CDs but only read DVDs), but I'm really only interested in burning and reading CDs and watching DVDs.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Alex-
I've looked into the Pioneer K05 and K06, but I've read that they don't seem to be "native" and have problems. Is it your experience that I should just be able to replace my Matshita UJ-816 with the K05 or K06 and just use it? Or is there something else I need to do as well?
    Thanks.

Does anyone know of a way to remove a drive from the media pool of the rotated drive media repository?
I accidentally added one to the repository and now I want to get it out of there so Veeam Backup & Replication  does not try to backup to a drive that is normally full.

Hi Frank, and a warm welcome to the forums!
There still is that paper clip hole, but on some G4s you have to remove the faceplate or even drive to do it.
Does it boot into Open Firmware with CMDOption+of ?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42642
Boot into Open Firmware and eject If you have a Mac that will not startup properly and has a stuck disc, try booting into Open Firmware by holding down Command, Option, O key and F key during startup. After booting into Open Firmware, type the command eject-cd.

  • Removing a drive from IX2 in RAID1

I have an IX2 operating in RAID1 (mirror) mode with two 2TB disks. Write caching is not enabled.
I would like to remove a drive from the unit and continue using the IX2 with one disk.
Can I just power off and pull the disk out, or is there a danger I will lose all the data?

Just a question first: why would you like to do that?
Yes I would believe that would work out, if your NAS is really configured for RAID 1 ( not RAID0 or JBOD!). Then it operates as if one drive failed and system had to rely on the remaining...........

  • Can I use my DVD Drive from my pc to load Tiger on my Mac

Can I use my DVD Drive From my pc (compaq R4000)to load Tiger onto my Mac G3 Blue & White?

    The short answer is no
long answer is maybe but if you manage to get a DVD drive from a Compaq into a G3 then install Tiger it will be so slow (Tiger on a G3 iMac) it'll bring tears to your eyes.
What are talking about this sloww nonsense! I've been using Tiger since it came out on my Summer 01' 'Snow' iMac 500Mhz and it works quite nicely! Sure garageband is sssllooww but who needs it. Everything elese is good! Just bump up the ram and your good to go as long as the processor is 450Mhz or higher! Although after looking at your post, you were using OS 8.6 so I assume its a 233Mhz. So ya that would be slow...BUT I've found 10.2 Jaguar to work well with my Bondi 233Mhz with 192MB of Ram...
