Unable to reset some settings values in Character Style Options back to "inherited"

First, unfortunately Paragraph Styles and Character Styles are not so cool as in InDesign in Photoshop. I hope it will be updated in future versions because good typography is very actual now.
Here is one of issues:
I can't set Font Family and Color in Character Style Options back to inherited ones, i.e. to reset/empty it. Onse I set some custom font/color for Character Style (manually or after "Redefine..") I can't remove it, only set new one. And since Character Style is another level of abstraction over Paragraph Style this behavior is very annoying - I always need to check what font is set up for characters, change it or even delete this character style and create a new one with same settings but default (empty) font family.
Fortunately some other settings (font size, leading and all other inputs/selects with editable value) can be reset (emptied) - that's why I consider situation with font family/color as buggy/raw.
What do you think about this? May be I don't know some secret tricks/technics to fix it?

I purchased the same laptop from Wal-mart in late August, I have had nothing but problems. Going from one program to another within the computer takes forever, the pages constantly say "not responding", getting on the internet takes all day, anti virus software has been installed, scans have been run which might I add took three days to do because the computer kept freezing and I had to manually restart. Un-installing programs is next to impossible as every time I start and sit and wait 10 minutes later I am still waiting, try to get out of the program and it won't let me. I try ctrl alt del which doesn't help. I took mine back to Wal-mart a week over the amount of time they allow for returns which is ridiculously short and they would not take it back. I have spent numerous hours trying everything under the sun to get this 2 month old computer to work and to meet up to my expectations of a brand new laptop computer and I am almost ready to chunk it out the backdoor. I am very disappointed in this product and will never buy another Toshiba. My family owns a Dell laptop and 2 HP laptops and we love them. This laptop was purchased for my children to do schoolwork as they are homeschooled and unfortunately they have not been able to do ANY! Take my advice, DO NOT BUY this product!

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad into Recovery Mode

Case bug in the Character Style Options?

Hi, is there a bug with the CASE in the Character Style Options?
When i set the "Case" to Small Caps and apply the Character Style to a text, it does not work.

You cannot change uppercase to lowercase. The reverse is done with All Capitals, and what you are using is not "lowercase" but "small capitals". Only lowercase characters get transformed to Small Capitals, uppercase don't change.
Dave Saunders wrote a script to find and change case per paragraph style -- it should be googable.

WRT54G v8: Unable to change some settings via the browser interface

I have a WRT54G V8 router which I'm trying to set up as a wireless access point.
I purchased it some time ago and flashed the firmware to version 8.00.2. I see there
is a newer firmware version available, and I'm going to try flashing that to see if it
helps, but wanted to ask here first.
The problem is that when I connect to the router using a web browser, I can see
the administration pages, and even change most settings, but some settings
just snap back to their previous values.
For example, I go to Setup -> Advanced Routing, and change Operating Mode
from Gateway to Router. When I do, I see it changes to Router, then I see it
talking to the HTTP server, and then it changes back to Gateway.
This also happens in other areas, like trying to enable MAC address filtering -
it won't let me enable it, and the Security Mode setting (under Wireless -> Wireless
Security) - It won't let me select WPA2 Personal, among others.
Note that I've had this router for a while, but decided to change how it was configured
today, so I started by pressing and holding the reset button for >5sec to reset it to
factory defaults and went from there.
I'm assuming there must be some settings which are preventing these from taking,
but I can't imagine any setting which should prevent me from enabling the MAC
address filtering.
Just in case this matters, I have the router connected to my in-home network using
one of the 4 Ethernet ports, and don't have anything plugged into the Internet port.
Also, I have turned off the DHCP server, and assigned a static IP address to the
router. This is the IP I'm using to connect to the router's administrative pages via
a browser running on one of the other PCs on my in-home network.
The wireless access point is working, in that I can connect to my in-home network
with my wireless client (laptop).
Can anyone help me understand what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks, Yes, I did reset the router. Just to clarify:
- I was having the problem where making changes to some settings would cause the settings to revert back to the original settings. In fact, the settings would switch back before I would have a chance to click on the Save Settings button. Clicking on the button after the settings changed back, of course, saved the original setting. For example, I would click on a drop-down control to change a setting, see the browser communicate with the HTTP server, then the drop-down would just snap back to the original value. It wouldn't allow me to change it to a different value.
- I reset the router, including holding the reset button for >5 seconds to force a full-reset. This didn't help.
- I attempted to update the firmware with the latest version for my router (yes, I double-checked that I had the correct version for my router/version). This failed with a strange message and required that I do another reset of the router.
It was after this failed attempt at the update that the problem went away. Now, I am able to change these particular settings and the changes stick.
At this point, I updated the firmware to the latest version and it worked. After this, I am still able to make all the necessary setting changes and the router is performing as I need.

and also some items(100 out of 95) are moving ine.

TS3899 mail icon - application opens for 2 seconds then closes and brings me back to my phone home screen. I have reset all settings and tried deleting and adding back the account. HELP!

I just updated my phone with ios 6.1.3 and now my gmail email is not working. When i tap the mail icon it brings me to my inbox for 2 seconds then immediately back to my phone home screen. I have tried deleting and re-adding my gmail account and I have reset all settings also.
Nothing is working. Does anyone have any tips?

When I tried the same thing it gives me 5 in the submit method.
Are you sure that ValueChange method is getting invoked before the actionEvent method?
Its better to debug the application, you will get the exact flow and error if any....

HT4436 Unable to reset iCloud settings using a new Apple ID

Hi, I ahve changed email account to gmail and so I ahve changed my Apple ID to this email address. I ahve reconfigured everything except iCloud. When I go into settings it still shows my old Apple ID and it is greyed out so I cant re-log in. How can I change this?

Welcome to the Apple community.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

'verification failure' keeps coming up when I try to log into my apple account. I am trying to erase the settings so to send for service. The original problem is that the wifi is grayed out and bluetooth keeps searching. I don't want to ship with all my info on there and already paid for the service.

'reset all settings' on iPhone4 breaks passcode options!

Wow, really annoying bug!
I setup my iPhone 4 from a backup of my 3GS, but I decided today to reset the setting after hearing that setting up from a backup isn't always the best idea and might affect battery life.
I figured, why not? Wellll, everything is fine except that when I went to enable my passcode I ONLY have the 'immediately' option. As for auto-lock, I have 1,2,3,4,5, never.
I do NOT use exchange server, I know that there are some options with that requiring specific security features.
Has anyone else noticed this bug? I have no idea how to get my passcode setting back! Entering it EVERYTIME is beyond annoying

Make a new profile, change the passcode options to what you want, then install to device. It should fix the bug, it did for me and others.

Unable to reset password nor to get my old ID back

I have been trying to set-up a skype account with a certain logon id, but it seems that the Microsoft account and Skype messed out everything.
Now I end out with 2 emails that appear as they own an account but I can't reset the passwords because the password reset token isn't valid.
Please help me out, I just want to have the initial logon ID and now I thing that there are 3-4 similar and they are all stucked :S

Actually, I do not fully understood the issue based on the information you provided in your initial post so I need to make sure that we are now working on the correct account.
so next, request for a new password reset link again (be sure to use it within 6 hours upon receiving it or it will expire). Then try using another web browser to open that link if it still doen't work in the usual/default browser you are using. You can also try using another computer or device if such is available.
If the same or similar problem exist, then you may need to get in touch with customer service for further assistance. They may require you to verify some details before they can proceed in assisting you in resetting your password/regain access to your account;

Do I "Reset All Settings" for my old iPad?

Just bought new iPad. Going to give my old one to husband. I've already backed up my files from old to new. Now do I hit "reset all settings" to get the old iPad back to factory settings?

No - Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. That wipes the iPad completely and he can start from scratch with his "new" iPad - your old one!

CS6 - Cannot Edit Some Character Styles

Hi, using Creative Cloud, have latest updates. Noticed some character styles will not allow editing, and some will. These are styles originally created by using the "Create new style" icon at the bottom of the panel.
For the ones that won't, neither double-clicking just to the left of the style name (double-clicking on the name itself allows renaming), nor selecting "Character Style Options..." in the panel preferences drop-down works.
Anyone else had this problem? Thanks!

Further to the above.... which is now solved .....
In case any other unfortunate non techie should experience it.......
When you upgrade, some of your prefernces follow you.... this being one of them.
The thing to do is to remove the exisiting and replace everything in the right hand column.
The fact that the browse button above indicates where you really want to edit, the names below are the edit locations it goes to.

Why do text variables using Running Header character style translate forced returns as a word space in the running head on the first page but close up the space on subsequent pages?

In an InDesign document that requires 3 different Chapter head paragraph styles (to cope with differrent length headings) I've set up the running heads on the master page with a text variable using the Running header (character style) option. The character style I've assigned to this is an empty character style that is applied to all 3 chapter head paragraph styles.
Some chapter heads require a forced line break, so that the line breaks are aethesically pleasing. On the first page the text variable translates this forced line break as a word space in the running head, but on subsequent pages it ignores the forced line break. This means that if you have a word space before the forced line break, on the first page you get a double word space and on subsequent pages the running head sets correctly with a single word space. But if you remove the word space before the forced line break in the chapter head text, the first running head sets correctly with forced line break interpreted as a single word space, but on subsequest pages the space is closed up.
This only seems to be a problem when the character style option is used for header text variables. If a paragraph style is used the forrced line break is interpreted as a a single word space in all instances, both on the foirst page and subsequent pages.
This would appear to be a bug in how text variables are applied when using the Running header (character style) option. I can't see any other reason why the text variable would beheave differently on the first page and on subsequent pages. There is only one master page, so it isn't a case of their being an error between a main master page and a chapter opener master page.
Does anyone have any solutionss, or know if this problem has been fixed in subsequent releases of InDesign (I'm using CS6 ID version 8.0)
