Unable to resolve

Hi,
I was unable to execute windowclosing event method from the jmenubar->File-Exit, but the windowclosing event is working properly when I click on the red 'X' button on the Frame or the InternalFrame.
Here's the scenario.
Desktop -->open--> an InternalFrame
User performed some operations on the InternalFrame and the user forget to save it.
User click on 'X' Button on the Frame or internalFrame, It will alert the user that there's unsaved data in the buffers, But when I user click on MenuBar-File-Exit to exit the application, the alert message is not fired.
I could not figure out why it does not work at same way when user click on the 'X' button to exit the application.
BTW, the windowclosing event methods is part of the internalFrame class. The Desktop(main frame) is referencing it.

The way I usually write my exit/close menu items is to have them simulate clicking on the red close button on the tite bar, by posting this event on the event queue. For example:
EventQueue eq = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getSystemEventQueue();
eq.postEvent(new InternalFrameEvent(iframe, InternalFrameEvent.INTERNAL_FRAME_CLOSING));
