Unable to restore backup

Why does simple thing like backup and restore doesn't work correctly using OVI Suite v2.1.1.1 on 5800XM v50.0.005?
for detail please view: /t5/Nseries-Devices-and-S60/5800XM-Restore-Question/m-p/673160
Does your company want your customers manually enter everything into the phone instead of using backup(but text message can't entered),  it yes please put the notice in a place that customers are able to view it before updating their device or PC Suite?

I took back from Ovi Suite on Day1 and on Day3 I mistakenly tried to restore with content copier but it did not restored. Later Day3 i retried to restore with Ovi Suite and it does not with it also.
Please help me out. I am using E63.

  • Unable to restore backup after updating iphone 4, because "not enough free space"

I updated my iphone 4 to v7 via itunes (v12), and in doing so, my camera roll was erased as were most of my calendar events.  I am trying to restore the backup that I created just before updating, but I get an error message in itunes that says "itunes could not restore the iphone" because "not enough free space".  There is 2.5gb free on my iphone, and I created the backup just before updating so there should be plenty of room.  Does anyone know how to get the iphone to restore and/or how to put my pics & calendar back?  itunes hangs up at the end while syncing too...

  • E72 Hard Reset - unable to restore backup

Due to some trouble with the camera getting the focus right, and general low performance of my e72, i had to perform a hard reset on the device (german fw v. 53.x.1).
I made 3 backups of all date via Ovi Suite 3.1 before. After the reset, the device runs fine again but I am unable to restore all data. In fact,
    - Messages (SMS)
    - phone settings
    - applications
    - calendar/notes (which is synced by outlook, so not a problem)
are missing! When I only restore the messages, I receive an error from OVI. It runs fine with Nokia PC Suite Content Copier (it says 100%), but the messages are still not restored.
In Content Copier, I don't even see a check box for applications and phone settings! Has it been disabled for e72 devices?
I have done the procedure on an old e71 and n82 befor and it just ran very well, everything was restored. Why does the e72 make such trouble? Is there a possibility to recover things another way out of the *.nbu file??

    Okay, this Prog helps-a-lot:

there are no settings / programs saved in the e72's backups - WHY??
at least I'm able to recover the messages.

  • Unable To Restore backup after updating to OS 10.3.1.1565

    Hi there...
i just updated my Q5 to os 10.3.1.1565
(Had an error with memory when trying to do OTA update , so i did a full backup on device via link , Factory Reset , then updated it )
Then i tried to do a full restore , but it wont restore it
    saying:
    "Restore was canceled"
"The Operation was canceled, and some items were not restored."
is there anyway to restore the backup without reverting to an older os ?
Really could use some help or info's ...
    much thanks in advance

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    Refer:
Article ID: KB36134 BlackBerry Link fails when attempting to restore a backup file and displays "Restore was cancelled. The operation was cancelled and some items were not restored.
However, given your description, I suspect something else. It has been reported from time to time that if you update too far in the OS versions that the restore will fail. Usually, though, this is in downgrading the OS...not updating...but it has happened (as per reports here) more than once in the way you describe.
Sadly, the "fix" depends on your situation. If you have all of your contacts, calendar, etc. on a compatible email server (e.g., Outlook.com), then simply reintegrate that account and the data will come back from the server. Or, if you were using LINK to synchronize to desktop Outlook then simply re-establish that. But, if you were taking the most risky method of using these on the device truly "stand alone", then your recovery is much more difficult. Plus, if you had other data (photos, videos, documents, etc.) that you were storing in Device Memory instead of on the SD card, then you may have to also do this.
If indeed you need to do the most challenging method, then it is thus:
Load your prior OS to your device...either via LINK (if it offers it) or via AutoLoader
Restore your data to your device
Purchase, install, and use Ultimate Backup to backup your calendar, contacts, etc. to your SD card
If you also have data in Device Memory (photos, etc.), then copy those as well to the SD card
Load the more recent OS to your device
Restore via Ultimate Backup from your SD card, as well as continue to store your photos and such there (to avoid this problem in the future regarding photos, documents, etc.)
    Good luck!

  • Machine A - Time Machine Backup - Unable to restore Backup from Machine B

    Hello,
My Workstation A has a time machine backup.
My workstation A bit the dust (24in new flatscreen)
I was able to borrow a laptop from a family member and have created another account.
From this user account I am able to ENTER time machine, SELECT the backup on the external hard drive.
My problem is when I try and select the files I need to restore in order to be able to continue my work, that I am getting an error message that says "insufficient access privileges"
How do I access my time machine backups made from my original workstation from a replacement machine ?
    Thank you for your feedback.

I have 2 user ids on the laptop. Each userid is an admin account. The suggestion was enough for me to log in as the other user and try to access my backup data. I was able to access my TM backup data from one admin userid, but not from the other.
My goal was to get to my backup data. Once I was able to do this (one admin or another admin, it did not matter)...There is still the problem of why one of the admin's could access the time machine data and the other one could not.
Thanks for your suggestion. It helped me get to the data I needed.

  • Unable to restore backup, Unable to restore backup

With each restore I get message that it is defective.

I am using a windows server 2008R2 disk to boot up. Both the servers have windows server 2008R2 on them. I have two licenses for each of the servers. I want to use the server at home as a backup server in case the server in office  goes down. I used
windows server backup to backup the server at work to a portable USB hard drive. I bought the hard drive home and want to clone the server at work. I heard bare metal restore is the best way to do this. So I booted the server at home with the windows server
2008 r2 disk that I have and clicked repair. I had attached my seagate portable drive to the usb port so that the server could find the image of the server at work, however the server cant find the hard drive or the server image. Is it a problem with my usb
hard drive? Do I need a specific type of usb hard drive to do server image backups?
If I let my server at home boot regularly and it comes up, it can see the image on the hard drive so I dont know how to do the bare metal restore. I know it can be done becuase my IT guy did it when he set up both the servers. I just want to periodically
clone them so make sure the server at home is updated with the settings of the server at work.
    Thanks for any help here

  • Iphone 3G 8GB resets when syncing, unable to restore/backup

ive recently updated to OS 3.1.3 and ever since am unable to sync my phone to my pc, im on windows 7 havent had a problem until i updated iphon software. does anyone have any suggestions?! am unable to use my phone and getting pretty desperate !
    thanks

I don't have an iphone, but if it's anything like my click-wheel ipod, a reset doesn't delete anything.
It just resets the ipod's operating system, kind of like a PC restart. Did you try this Sleep/Wake button thing mentioned here?

That's all I got. You might have better luck on an iPhone forum. Everyone there would probably have one. Like I said, I don't.

  • Errors trying to restore backup

I had to reset my iphone 5 as it was in a reboot loop. Ever since, I have been unable to restore backup as it says "Itunes has been unable to restore this Iphone because an error occurred"
iOS8.3 on phone and Itunes also up to date.  Have tried different cables & USB sockets, as well as reinstalling Itunes.  Have tried everything in terms of locating and moving backup files and I am currently trying to move them onto a different laptop. Currently on Windows 8, moving onto a Windows 7.  Checked firewall etc, to ensure it is not preventing restore.
I have lost all contacts etc and really need to get it all back.  I think the issue may be with the laptop harddrive. Is there any way I can wirelessly restore?
    Please someone help!

    Hi sweenyness,
Based on the information you have provided, it appears your iPhone cannot be restored. The following article provides troubleshooting steps you may want to explore:
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Use recovery mode
You might need to use recovery mode to restore your device in these cases:
iTunes doesn't recognize your device or says it's in recovery mode.
You see the Apple logo onscreen for several minutes with no progress bar.
You see the Connect to iTunes screen.
Learn what to do if you see the progress bar onscreen for several minutes.
To put your device into recovery mode, follow these steps:
Turn off your device and leave it off.
Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
When you see this screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.
When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You'll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore your device. Restoring in recovery mode will erase your device. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you might be able to restore from your backup.
    Get more help
Learn what to do if you don't see your device in iTunes for OS X, or in iTunes for Windows.
If you put your device into recovery mode by mistake, restart it. Or you can wait 15 minutes and your device will exit recovery mode by itself.
After you perform the restore using Recovery mode, you can attempt to restore the backup you created previously.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • Unable to restore and recover my Database from RMAN Backup

    Dear All,
Iam practicing RMAN in Windows environment.
    My configurations are
CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 1; # default
CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION ON; # default
CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK; # default
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON; # default
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 'F:\Backup\%F'; # default
CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 1 BACKUP TYPE TO BACKUPSET; # default
CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED; # default
CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION FOR DATABASE OFF; # default
CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION ALGORITHM 'AES128'; # default
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE; # default
    CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO 'E:\ORACLE\DATABASE\SNCFORCL.ORA';
    CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT 'F:\Backup\%U.bak';
Then i took the RMAN backup, now iam shutdown my DB and removed one logfile..
then i tried to startup the DB but it is saying
ORA-00313: open failed for members of log group 3 of thread 1
    ORA-00312: online log 3 thread 1: 'E:\ORADATA\ORCL\REDO03.LOG'
So i tried to restore the Database with my rman backup
    RMAN> restore database;
But i am unable to restore my logfile in the Datafiles location where as all other datafiles are restored but redo logfiles are not restored.
So, i am unable to recover my DB
Please tell me whether i am doing any mistake, what is the solution for my problem.
    Thanks in advance
    Mahi

All you restored was your datafiles.
Now issue recover database and that will apply the archive logs.
This is in the oracle documentation.
"You must restore backups of these archived logs for recovery to proceed. You can restore either to the default or nondefault location. If you do not have backups, then you must performing incomplete recovery up to an SCN before the first missing redo log and open RESETLOGS."
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/backup.111/b28270/osrecvry.htm
In this case after issuing restore database in RMAN, then issue this.
    "Recover database"
It will then be an incomplete recovery. They should have been multiplexed. Did you restore your controlfile with this backup? You may have to issue an "Alter database open resetlogs;"

  • I am unable to restore my backups from my Time Machine

MacBook Pro – My reformatted system that won't restore from my time machine - HELP PLEASE
I loaded Lion when it first came     out and all my troubles started. (It was the same on my 24” iMac).     Mail particularly hardly worked on either machine after loading up     Lion but that's another story and I wish I had never upgraded to      Lion.
I am now in China and took my     MacBook Pro with me
To avoid mail problems I     eventually used web-mail as all I saw was the coloured spinning     wheel all day long otherwise
Gradually the machine got slower     and slower and I saw that coloured wheel more and more
Eventually a message came up to     say my Bootable Drive was almost full.
I checked and it wasn't full of MY     documents.  I see on this forum it's an Apple problem - reformatting and restoring user files will not help the problem
On 1st November I did a     Time Machine backup that completed OK
Since then I had removed ALL     documents safely to my Sony Vaio that we bought instead of another     Apple Mac.
Despite removing ALL documents and      emptying the trash for two users the HDD continued to fill up     rapidly
I decided to do one more last     backup on Time Machine so I could reformat the system – This     backup never completed
I had to reformat the system as it     was totally not useable by now
I had expected to put a Snow     Leopard DVD in and restore my system without any problem - I have done this before on my iMac
I was unable to point the restore     to my time machine as it has a WD lock partition and Apple restores     don't recognise the drive may be locked!
No problem I thought, as I will do     it later through the tools utility called Migration Assistant
I have tried several times with     Leopard and Snow Leopard but cannot get the utility to work, as it     is obviously picking up the corrupt “LAST” backup (This is a shortcut to the 6th November uncompleted backup
I tried to move the 1st November one to the last and move the other out as “”Corrupt”,     but we are not allowed to change time machine files.  Brilliant idea     but Apple stopped it!
So, I loaded Snow Leopard and got     it to see my Time Machine Files and restored first the Applications     – No problem
Then Library – This failed as     “You haven't permission” - What!  Why?  This is MY Laptop and MY     files.  Apple have to sort out this permission problem.  I have had     it three and a half years and it has driven me mad.  It's a flawed     way of working in my opinion.  It took me three years to empty the     trash because of it.
I then tried to restore the "System" folder which also has a library folder and that failed the same  - Why     doesn't Time Machine restore what it's told to?  Is it because I     called the MacBook Pro  something different?  It saw the backup     files OK and gave me the option of the previous MacBook or my iMac     that I also had on the same drive. I chose the MacBook but it would     NOT restore the system.
    Conclusion
So, I am stuck in China without my     MacBook Pro and unable to restore my system and unable to retrieve     the 1st November backup which was taken properly.
This means that I cannot run any     programmes and do any work
I have wasted two weeks altogether     on all the combined problems and without a usable system
Any ideas how to restore back to     the 1st November please?  Thanks in advance!

    UpdateAfter Advice from Apple
    RESTOREPROBLEMS
I spoke from China on the1st December to a very helpful Senior Apple Technical person.  He gave me my guidelines for a successful restore and we hung up.
Unfortunately, the backup hadn't enough space, so I repartitioned the hard drive and THEN followed his instructions.
At 6 am there was amessage to say it had restored OK (See screen-shot to say it wassuccessful) and so, I pressed OK to restart the MacBook Pro.
All I got was the same as before - a grey spinning wheel.
To cut a very long storyshort, I wasted the whole day trying to make a backup work to no avail. I came to the conclusion that this is yet another example of Lion not working, as I have never had this problem with Leopard and Snow Leopard.
I then got a screen shot of a message never seen before and that may help Apple ….
So, I sent them that screen-shot. Restarting did nothing of course.
    Timeto stop the nonsense!
To cut my losses of many days wasted time over the last 5 weeks, I gave up trying to restore and as I have all the data safely tucked away on an external drive, Irebuilt the MacBook Pro with just Leopard.
I then put all theApplications back on one by one and it runs perfectly. Luckily I also had these with me in China!
Ablisteringly quick system on the old Leopard
In fact, Pages and AdobeCS4 are how they were when we purchased the machine 3.5 years ago -Blisteringly quick.
I have a mega large Pages Newsletter about China that I think was over 20 Mb before I shrank it, as it had many photos. This brought the MacBook running Lion to it's knees. On my rebuilt MacBook Pro running Leopard, it ran blisteringly quickly, even before shrinking it.
I managed to finish thenewsletter that I had started on the 21st October and we bulk emailedit out as a PDF 1st December from my MacBook Pro running Leopard.
In fact, the machine isrunning so well, that I think I will stick with Leopard.
    LION
I always suspected the problem with Lion was it was constantly doing SAVES all the time that were in the foreground and not the background that I was unable to type in productively. My own opinion is that the developers had been trying to be TOO clever with Lion and for a busy person like me it crippled my productivity that went down by 50% and then eventually to ZERO %.
    CONCLUSION
I would like to thank the Apple Technical person for his efforts on my behalf and felt that he should receive this update to close the case.
I stated that hopefully he can pass my observations to the LION TEAM Management or to whoever in Apple needs to see this feedback. The dozen or so problems with Lion have already caused us to go and buy a Sony Vaio instead of another MacBook Pro.
This anti-Apple attitude is by a person that for over 3 years was utterly and completely soldon Apple. No more, as Lion killed all my enthusiasm for Apple. My colleague as well. I asked the Apple Technical person to PLEASE pass this on!  Whether he passed the report on I will never know!

  • Unable to Supervise & Restore Backup. iOS 7-7.0.2 Configurator 1.4

I have just finished a deployment of 530 iPad 4's in the school where I work. Everything went fine with 6.1.3 and configurator 1.3. Since then, configurator has automatically downloaded and installed iOS 7... Which would be fine, if it worked.
I figured out all issues related to the activation and no longer have issues there.
The steps I go through are as follows:
    Supervise a device.
Make setting changes (like disabling keyboard clicks)
    Restore Backup
Prepare for new devices by enabling supervision, restoring backup, and selecting the profile from configurator to install
    Plug it in, and wait.
It fails every time at the "waiting for device to respond" stage. The error it gives is that the USB cable is unplugged. I have even elminated my hub and am trying to do this straght from the Macbook Pro.
I am also unable to revert back to iOS 6.1.3... I have tried everything on the internet listed and it still fails at the screen that says:
On top of all of those issues, the kids that have updated to iOS 7 are all having issues downloading apps... I made sure that my MDM is enabling installing apps... they can go to the app store, but when they download them it just says unable to download and gives the option of Retry or Done. Any advice for this issue?
Please help.. I have to make sure every kid has an iPad and can install the apps they need for school. I am just about out of options... APPLE... ANYONE??? Can I downgrade back to Configurator 1.3 somehow? HELP!

    Hi MrMeansMTA,
Yeah, there are a lot of issues that many of us in schools are experiencing. See this post for a collection of issues that we are hoping Apple will fix. You should add your issues to the list: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5379636?tstart=0
Regarding your attempt to downgrade to 6.1.3... unfortunately Apple has stopped signing all versions of iOS 6 for iPad. So even with a complete wipe of an iOS 7 iPad in an attempt to restore an old iOS 6 encrypted backup, a restore via iTunes will force the device to check in with Apple and the latest version of iOS 7 will install on the iPad. I've also tried importing an old ipsw file for 6.1.3 into iTunes and into Apple Configurator to try and force loading iOS 6.1.3, but niether iTunes or Apple Configurator will install it.
And with Apple Configurator even if you were able to downgrade to AC v1.3, it doesn't work with iOS 7...only v1.4 works with iOS 7. So unfortunately once an iPad is updated to iOS 7 we are all forced to upgrade AC to v1.4.
As far as the downloading apps issue, the times that I have seen this are when the app isn't compatible with the iOS version on the iPad. For example, an iPad on iOS 6.1.3 trying to download an app that only works with iOS 7 will get the "Unable to download - Retry or Done" message. I wonder if the opposite is happening in your case... where an app isn't iOS 7 compatible yet and they are trying to download a version for iOS 6 or earlier. On top of that, I would recommend the student try a "reset" (different from restarting) on their iPads (Hold down on both the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears. When you see the Apple logo on the black screen, let go of the buttons. This “reset” fixes a lot of iPad issues).
Another possibility for this error could be due to your web filter settings. Did you attempt to block iOS updates with your web filter? You or your network engineer may have inadvertently blocked app installs. Check with your filter guy to see what the settings are.
Hope this helps. We're all struggling through this and feel your pain!! Good luck man.
    ~Joe

  • I am trying to restore bookmarks to Version 5 from a backup I made from Version 4.+. I get an error message "Unable to process backup file." What's wrong?

I made a backup of my bookmarks when I was running Firefox Version 4+ (stored in a "json" file on a thumb drive). My primary hard disk crashed and when I down loaded Firefox on to a new hard drive, I got version 5.0. When I tried to restore the saved bookmarks, I got an error message that says "Unable to process backup file."

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
