Unable to restore iCal data after total loss due to iCloud

I believe iCloud is the cause for all my iCal data dissapearing. I have time machine running but am still not able to restore my iCal Data. I can not find the iCal data in the TimeMachine. Any suggestions?

iCal data can be found in the Time Machine backups here: ~/Library/Calendars
Find this folder in your Time Machine interface, choose it, click "Restore" and then "Replace" when prompted.
When you exit Time Machine and go back into iCal all the entries should look the same as the day you chose to restore them from.
If you don't have a backup.......sorry. There's no magic trick to bring it back. I've noticed that the preferred order of operations for first time iCloud syncing goes like this:
Set up iCloud on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Log in at iCloud.com and make sure everything is correct on the site.
Set up iCloud on your Mac/PC.
No iOS device? Just make sure you have a backup or you export the calendars to a safe place before setting up iCloud on your computer. You may need to import your backups after the initial iCloud sync.

  • Unable to restore older dates after Lion install in IMAC

I see the pink bars on the time machine page going back to 2008. However, only the last 4 days are "filled in". I recently upgrader to Mac 10.7 Lion from SL.  There was no problem doing the restore on my MacbookAir.  I am unable to use the non-pinked tabs, How do I access the older Mac restores??? Any help would be much appreciated.

I´ve the same problem with FW 30, but I made my backup in the same language (german)as I got the new FW. When I start the backup it starts normally but stops by 50%. Fortunately I can restore it to my N82 and make from there a bluetooth restore. But it schould´nt be the normal way.

I want to restore my data after my pad was reset, but the latest backup was 5 months back. What can I do?

There is nothing that you can do. If you don't have a more recent backup, you can't magically create a current backup now. You can use the 5 month old backup, or simply start all over again. You can download most of your purchased content again as long as you use the same Apple ID that you used to make the purchases.

  • Has anyone been unable to restore their iPad after attempting to upgrade to ios5? error 1

Has anyone been unable to restore their iPad after attempting to upgrade to ios5? I get an unknown error 1 message. Thanks.

I have the same problem. Something happened during the download and froze iTunes. After spending three days searching these forums with the dead iPad, the only thing I got to work was to try downloading iOS 5 using my sons computer. This worked. However I cannot now get my computer's iTunes to sync with my iPad.. It contains the same error message (1602) and has the same problem as before. It is not an antivirus problem. I need some help too

  • Trying to salvage iCal data after hard disk failure!

    Hi all,
I had a major hard disk failure recently, and also discopvered that my regular backups weren't including my iCal data! Eek! All that info I use for tax records gone!
Anyway, the wonderful DiskWarrior managed to salvage a drive that was not visible to the naked eye and it recovered various pieces of information. Many of these pieces seem to be re-packaged, or should I say 'Un-packaged'. I have a heap of folders of files that are probably supposed to be within another file structure to be useful to iCal.
I have a few folders with very long names (such as EBD6EF28-1595-49DD-8AEA-8525C9F2CB55.calendar) these have the corestorage.ics
    Info.plist
Index files in them, so appear to be the /App support/iCal folders, with a file extension added?!
Also I have folders called the same as the .calendar folders above (but no extension) and these are filled with events like this:
    FEAD3FA1-FC1B-4D5B-8C3B-2AB72EA87DF7%2F-.icalevent
    FDDD239C-6B90-11DA-B375-00039383DFDE%2F-.icalevent
In textEdit I can see that these are all my events... so near and yet so far. If all else fails I will store these for records.
I can get Calendars to appear but iCal 2.0.5 won't open or imprt the event files...
Can anyone suggest how I might restore said structure so that iCal can import them?
    Kind regards
    Rosie

Well, the structure of an ics file is easy to get (drag an event to desktop and open it with a text editor) and is well-described on the web, but I don't know about the structure of your icalevents, other than what we can see in the plist editor. After trimming out the time zone info, I get this for an ics file:
    BEGIN:VEVENT
    SEQUENCE:3
    TRANSP:OPAQUE
    UID:5E87B2F7-CF39-447E-B252-B3BF5F9C4A61
    DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Dublin:20081122T093000
    DTSTAMP:20081030T004304Z
    SUMMARY:IPF Thurles
    CREATED:20081110T210926Z
    DTEND;TZID=Europe/Dublin:20081122T140000
    END:VEVENT
According to Fat Cat's web page PlistEdit Pro is scriptable, so it might be possible to do something with Applescript.

  • Unable to Restore BB Software after OS Upgrade

Hi. I am unable to restore several programs (PWKeeper, BBM, BBTraffic, Memo, Tasks, Maps) after a wipe and OS upgrade.  I backed up the phone prior to the wipe but did not turn off wireless sync. Learning now that I should have.  I have deleted desktop sync service book, rebooted, tried to restore. No success. Even reinstalled OS.  Is there combo-keys to enter on phone that turns off wireless sync prior to restore?  DM is not allowing me to restore these apps.  9850 Storm. Thx for help.

Oh......BBSAK for this...got'ca. I'd not assumed you were using that methodology. You probably need to do some research on BBSAK.ORG as to this...there likely are posts on their own site dealing with the issue. As I recall, it's not guaranteed to be 100% perfect...but I don't recall much more than that as I prefer, whenever I update my BB OS, to reinstall all of my apps from scratch...just to be most sure that things are truly "clean". It is also possible that the apps you are trying to restore aren't compatible with the precise OS level you have updated to (with the apps you listed, this may actually be a high probability since those apps are normally included with the OS package itself).
Since the apps you listed are provided along with the OS package, then the normal method of installing them from the Desktop Software should indeed work...odd that they are greyed out for you there. FYI...those apps normally aren't part of any Desktop Software backup per se...data from them and/or configuration settings about them may well be included in the databases, but nor normally the apps themselves per se.
I suppose what I'd recommend is skipping the BBSAK app backup for anything that is included within the BB OS package itself (in the list you provided, all are part of the OS package, though BBM likely will have an update available from AppWorld). Then, again use BBSAK to perform another wipe/reload of your desired OS, but during the OS loading selections make sure that the apps you listed are selected to be loaded to your BB while it loads the OS (as opposed to trying to add them later).
Then, the 3rd party app restore from BBSAK may well work for the other apps you backed up with it...or you can reacquire them from their original sources (AppWorld, etc.) and perform a clean install of them all.
An odd situation you indeed have, but I'm sure there's a way to get you going again.

  • How do I restore iCal data from a Time Machine back-up?

Recently, all my iCal data disappeared, possibly due my efforts to unlink iCal from Google calendars.
I have read posts here, and have tried restoring ~/Library/Calendars in its entirety from a Time Machine back-up from about a week ago, where data definitely existed .... however, iCal remains empty. What am I doing wrong?

Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Restore it from your backup.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Restore ical data

    Hi,
I have restored my User\library folder in Lion from a TM backup.  -  in fact I restored the whole user folder.
Long story -  I wanted to go back to SL but found I couldn't extract my mail from TM and so have restored with the intention of doing a manual backup of each folder before attempting a SL install again.
I can't seem to find my ICS file for restoring ICAL, can anyone help me understand how to restore before doing a manual backup
    thanks

    Solved it!
I had been trying to get the data into iCal by manipulating the folders in Library. It was simpler than that, although I don't know why iCal didn't recognize the data I moved to those folders. But, that's a moot point now. All I did was drag all of the individual data files onto the open iCal window and Bingo, they all showed up.
However, what I also don't understand is why all that data, that I thought I had deleted, was sitting in Library but iCal wasn't reading it. I can only guess that there is some sort of marker on the folders or there is info in the plist file to tell iCal what to read. Oh well, again, a moot point. I have all my appointments back.

  • Restore lost data after software upgrade without having a backup

    Hi!
Yesterday I upgraded to 10.1.0.418 via BB Link and all my data (contacts, apps, photos etc.) was lost. It happens every time I upgrade the software (I did it 3 times) and I am sick of this! Could you tell me please, is there a way to restore the data I had before upgrading without a backup made before the upgrade?
    Thanks!

  • Can you restore sync data to an earlier version on iCloud?

Please note, I am not asking about iphone backups stored on iCloud.
    1. Is there a way of reverting to a previous version of sync data held on iCloud for my iphone? I ask this because maybe I did an icloud sync with my iphone in which my iphone contained dirty or old data following an iTunes restore and this has now synced automatically with iCloud and I want to remove those changes and revert to a sync from e.g. 1 day ago?
    2. I understand that sync data is not contained in a backup file.  So for example, if I totally wipe my iCloud so I have my standard 5gb available, iCloud will still contain my contacts, notes and calandar items.  Where is this stored and is this accessible?
    3. Does anyone know what the syncing rules are where if in question 1 above, a restored iphone (from iTunes backup) contains old contact data and iCloud has the more recent one, when connected to sync, which one copies over to where and overwrites it or merges it?
    Thanks.
    Dan

    Hi
    >>You can access synced to icloud data on icloud server, at www.icloud.com
ok, but that wasnt my question.  I want to revert my settings and contacts etc on my iphone to a sync version from prior to that which is available on iCloud at the moment.  What you are suggesting is simply that I can view all my cloud related stuff on the website.
With respect to your other answers, at some point then, I would need to switch it on in order for it to sync.  How then i can be sure that the latest clean data from iCloud syncs across to the iphone without the old or dirty data on the iphone going across to iCloud, if I didn't change the switch to on?
    Thanks.

  • HT5225 ical lost after move from mobileMe to iCloud

    Hi,
    Can someone help!!
I signed up to iCloud early on and thought everything would be fine after 1st of July when iCloud came into effect.
All my contacts, photo's movies and everything else are all still on my computer and phone.....
BUT all my ical entries have been wiped. And I have only realised now that mobileMe is no longer working.
What do I do.  I spoke with Apple and they have said there is nothing that can me done.
Does anyone know any tricks.  You will need to be specific as I am not a computer nut too by the way!!
Appreciate anyones help, my life is in there!!
    thanks

I don't think there are any 'tricks', sorry; there are only things that you can do if you'd had any sort of a backup strategy and have some resources already in place.
If you have a full backup of your hard drive, then you also have all of your old iCal data which can be pulled out and repopulated as of the day that the backup was made.
If you'd ever taken a snapshot of your current iCal status via the iCal > File > Export route, then you could rebuild from there.
Beyond those, not too much to try.

  • How can I restore the data from a single application in icloud?

Here is my situation. My iPad2 is constantly crashing. Whenever I use an app it runs for about 30 seconds and then the screen blinks black and I go back to my my home screen. At first I erased all the data and settings and tried to restore my backup from icloud. When I did this, it started crashing again right away. Then I erased all the data and reset it to run as a new ipad. In doing this, I redownloaded all my apps and everything is working fine. However, I have about a years worth of data in NoteShelf (note taking app) that is on icloud but that I cannot access. How can I just restore the data from that one app?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately you cannot selectively restore from a backup, it's either all or nothing.

  • Apple Configurator / iTunes unable to restore iPhone 4s after update, Apple Configurator / iTunes unable to restore iPhone 4s after update

Apple Configurator will not restore any iPhone 4S after the latest update (ERROR: Unable to prepare)and iTunes gives the error 3194.  But all usual 3194 fixes don't work and this happens exclusively on the 4S.
Tested on 15 different iPhone 4S's
Using 4 Mac Minis and 8 different Windows 7 machines.
Hosts files have not been altered.
Latest version of iTunes / Configurator on all.
Both have been removed and reinstalled.
    No dice.

Ok, well after two days of recieving nothing but the usual generic template response from the "support team" the only thing i was sure of was that my original message had not been read at all.
I was able to fix the issue myself though, so i'll leave this here in case someone else is unfortunate enough to have the same issue:
It appears for whatever reason Apple Configurator removed the previous versions of iOS itself before attempting to download iOS 7, the only conclusion i could draw was that for whatever reason the download failed and i was left without a firmware file both the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5.  Older handsets were unaffected.
To fix this, simply download the firmware from http://www.ipswdownloader.com/
Then (if you're on a Mac) navigate to: Library/Containers/com.apple.configurator/Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.configu rator/Firmware and copy the new .ipsw into that folder.
Restart configurator and you will be good to go.
Porbably worth mentioning I spoke to my colleages in the US and they we're having the exact same issue ever since last weeks Configurator upgrade so why the support team are still sending templates out asking users to go on a wild goose chase with things like "Are you SURE you have the latest version of "XYZ" are you SURE you have rebooted the machine, are you SURE blah blah blah"
YES.  I'm sure.  I know what i'm talking about, I work in the industry and this is not another generic fault and you do not have a fix published yet.
How about listening to what the users are ACTUALLY saying before emailing this rubbish out?

  • I restored my iPod touch, but was unable to restore my data from a backup, so I synced it and now all of the data from my apps has gone, and so have in app purchases. Is there anything I can do to get them back?

Does anyone know if there's anything I can do to get my app data back? All levels completed on games have been erased, and I am unable to use in app purchases which I did purchase, such as the Mighty Eagle in Angry Birds. Thanks for your help

Go to the Device tab in iTunes' Preferences and se what the date iis of the backup(s).  Apple only retaines the latest backup unless you restor from a backup and that one is also kept.
