Unable to restore messenger contacts

Hi, I just got a new phone because I lost my old one and I've been trying to restore my bb messenger contacts through the email option which I had done before with other blackberrys and had worked perfectly. This time, when I click on the option to restore it says that they have to send an email to verify that my email account is valid, I click ok and then it says that my email account (which is working perfectly on the phone) is invalid and they were unable to send a verification email and to check if the account is valid and try again later. I have been doing this for two days and nothing has changed.
what can I do?

Have you had any success in solving this issue? I'm having the same problem and when I invited the people to my contact list they pinged me back but didn't show up in the contact list, just in the message list. Thankfully they are all on text, as well, but I prefer messenger. Thanks!

  • Lost my BB 9800, Unable to restore my contacts

    Hi,
I lost my bb 9800, i think i have data somewhere on bb server because when i login on BB protect website i can see that in archived back up details but i'm unable to restore it. And when i try to restore on my new 9810 it says "This data is already wirelessely synchronized with a remote service and cannot be restored by blackberry protect" only for contacts. And i've archived the device by mistake n now it shows "Remote admin commands are not available on archived devices".
Please help me. I only want my contacts.

    Hey,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
This will occur when the BlackBerry® smartphone has wireless synchronization enabled through the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server or BlackBerry® Internet Service. Wireless synchronization will need to be turned off to prevent this from occurring.
    Thanks.

  • I lost my iPhone 4 and replaced it with the 5. I have been unable to restore my contacts and music. I was able to get other applications. The error message says that the file may be incompatible or corrupted

Does any one out there have any suggestions?

    Hello,
How was your phone backed up?
    Via iCloud or via iTunes.
If you have an iCloud back up maybe try following this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4859 and see if that works.

Did you register an e-mail address for your blackberry world?
in the affirmative, please do download the blackberry link and give the same mail address and PW to log on.
once you do so, you have the option to use the restore option, which can be pointed out to the data location from where you need to restore and it works perfectly for me.
Pictures and videos can be uploaded using this link as well.
    Hope it works for you.

  • HT2693 unable to restore contacts from backup in iTunes.. how do i find out where the contacts are when it took the backup the first time?

Please help me restore my contacts from the backup in my laptop. When i took the backup  the first time, i dont know where it took the backup. After that i tried restoring the contacts back  to my iPhone, but was unable to. What can i do to findout where did the contacts go in my laptop? Please help asap.

Unfortunately, you have posted in the wrong community. However, I am not quite sure which community you should be posting in. Do you use iCloud for your contacts.

    Hello codyfromseminole,
After reviewing your post, I believe your device is under Activaltion Lock. The following article will provide you with more information about the feature:
    iCloud: Activation Lock
With iOS 7 or later, Find My iPhone includes a feature called Activation Lock, which is turned on automatically when you set up Find My iPhone. Activation Lock makes it harder for anyone to use or sell your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch if it’s ever lost or stolen.
With Activation Lock, your Apple ID and password are required before anyone can:
Turn off Find My iPhone on your device
Sign out of iCloud on your device
    Erase and reactivate your device
Important:    Make sure to remember your Apple ID and password, and that your password is unique and secure—someone else shouldn’t be able to guess it. For more information, see the Apple Support article Security and your Apple ID.
If you want to give away or sell your device, be sure to erase your content and settings (in Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings). When you erase your content, Find My iPhone and Activation Lock are also turned off.
If you no longer have the device, follow the instructions to remove a device you no longer have. For more information, see the Apple Support article What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
For more information about Activation Lock, see the Apple Support article Find My iPhone Activation Lock in iOS 7.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • HT1212 i have forgotten my password of itunes, i have taken backup of contacts but is unable to restore . pls help i have my important data in back up

    Dear Sir,
I have forgotten my password of itunes, i have taken backup of contacts but is unable to restore . pls help i have my important data in back up.
    Waiting for reply
    Thanks

    Encrypted backup?
    Read here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5162
If the backup you're trying to restore from is encrypted, you will not be able to use that backup if you can't remember the encrypted backup passcode.
If on a Mac, & you elected to save the passcode to your Keychain, you can recover the passcode from your Keychain. Otherwise, your backup data is unrecoverable.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups, & restore your phone as a new device.
You delete your existing backups here: iTunes>Preferences>Devices.

  • Freezing phone and restoring deleted BB Messenger contacts.

I'm using a Blackberry Curve 9300, it seems to freeze a lot lately, sometimes for hours at a time. Like this morning it froze from 12midnight until 5:30am. When it freezes I get a black squared clock at the centre of my screen. I then decided to whip out everything on my phone thinking if I did that everything will be back to normal. After whipping out all my stuff now not only do I still experience the same problem of freezing, I now lost all my BB Messenger contacts that I can't restore. I now don't know what to do. Please help, how do I stop my phone from freezing all the the time and how do I restore all my contacts!

I think you mean "wiping" not "whipping, I understand now.
Did you do a backup of the device to your PC before wiping it?
Do you have BBProtect installed and backing up daily or weekly?
Before wiping, did you do a BBMessenger > Options > Backup Contacts? to either the media card or remote backup?
    For the freezing...
Do you have Memory Cleaner enabled (look at Options > Security > Memory Cleaning) and if you do, disable it.
What is your Operating System loaded to your device? Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.6.0.x.xxx", What is yours?

    Hey zzzshan,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Try restarting the BlackBerry® Curve™ 8900 smartphone by removing the battery and placing it back in.  Then attempt to restore your BBM™ contacts again.  Have you created any backups using BlackBerry® Desktop Software?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • My old phone broke and I am having trouble figuring out how to restore my contacts on my "new" phone (LG ENV2 Black)...

My old phone broke and I am having trouble figuring out how to restore my contacts on my "new" phone (LG ENV2 Black).  Apparently the phone is so old that I am unable to install Backup Assistant on it, which sucks.  I have all my old contacts saved on my computer as a CSV and also another copy on a micro SD as VCF.  I have tried moving the CSV from my computer to my ENV2 via both Bluetooth and USB cable, but had no luck with either of those.  I also tried to pop the micro SD into the ENV2, and although I can load all my old pictures/videos/etc. from the micro SD, I do not seem to be able to restore the contacts from card.  I know there has to be some way to manually transfer these files; the contacts are still on my old phone as well; but I was unable to use the transfer wizard for that because my old phonedoesn't seem to be supported by that (Pantech Jester 2)

Google a program called bitpim, that might do what you want.  Never used it but it's been talked about on the forums.  Other than that you might have to input them manually.  Mary

  • How do I restore my contacts to my phone and Outlook?

    Hi,
The recent iPhone iOS6 debacle caused many of my contacts to be deleted from my iPhone. When I realized this had occurred I resynched with Outlook on my PC (which I do every day anyway) and it restored some contact information. Some days later I realized that the contacts that were still missing were all from the same folder and wondered if the update had removed that sync. Instead, when I delved into it I learned that the update had completely removed the entire folder and all contacts from that folder in Outlook. The deleted contacts aren't even in the deleted folder, they're gone completely in Outlook.
Outlook 2010 does not have auto-archive turned on by default and I haven't turned it on manually so I am unable to restore the information that way.
If I try and restore the phone to a previous version then the only backup that is listed is the one from today. I'm under the impression that even if there were more backups listed and I were to restore then I'd lose any messages etc that had arrived since the backup anyway, which is not acceptable.
Short of inventing a time machine is there any way I can get my contacts back?
Please note that using the cloud is not an option as I am *not* giving apple any more data than I absolutely have to (plus I don't see how it could help anyway).
As a curiosity - given how many (thousand/million?) people have been affected by this fiasco, is there a published apology from Apple that I can read online?

Given the lack of reply I'd say my data is gone, which was my own surmise but I would like confirmation if that is possible?
Is it true that on my 500+ GB HDD that iTunes only keeps the most recent backup of the OS? I'm not sure if I had older backup that I could use that as it would cause other data (ie new messages etc) to be lost but I am genuinely curious. Also, I'm not aware if there is a selective restore - as in can I restore contacts from a backup without restoring the entire OS + state info?
I can't find the public apology from apple for inconveniencing so many of it's users with an update that was almost entirely political (bye bye Google), partially cosmetic (woot new title bar colour) and serious issues that caused data loss for thousands/millions - if someone could direct me to that it would be appreciated as I would love to provide some feedback to that post.
I wrote a more controvesially titled version of this same enquiry called "If Apple were worth $548 billion instead of $547 bn could they afford a software tester" and that thread actually had some useful replies before the thread was deleted by an over zealous forum admin. If the people that love the product so much that they can't bear negative feedback hadn't jumped my thread to troll with their foolish views it might even have gotten somewhere. So here I'm left with a bland post with no replies and still my data is gone. Would love a solution but fear none exists, thus the negativity.

I am unable to restore my iPhone 4. It is in recovery mode and shows the connect to itunes screen. Itunes gives me many error messages, one saying "The iPhone software update server could not be contacted. The network connection could not be established." and I do not understand if it is referring to my internet or a Network on the phone. My internet connection is fine and the phone does not have service on it since I havent gotten it to work for the last week. I have also tried multiple computers to try to restore it and recover images, but nothing has worked. Please help me!
