Unable to restore or update iphone 5 to ios 6.1
Hi everyone!! I cannot update or restore my iphone 5 to IOS 6.1.I have downloaded the iPhone5,1_6.1_10B143_Restore ipsw file twice but in itunes it says that the fimware file is not compatible.I have restored a iphone 4,4S and ipad 3 as well from the same PC...so why such problem??my model no. is MD297HN and its factory unlocked,purchased from India...Now currently downloading iphone 5,2 6.1_10B143.ipsw..Will it solve my problem??or is there any problem in my handset??
i have downloaded the file yesterday itself from the above link-iphone 5 (GSM)but cant restore my iphone 5...the other IOS files for ipad3,iphone 4S and 4 works well but the 6.1 IOS is incompatible...i don;t update via itunes because I can't pause the IOS software update..after pause it starts all over again..

Hello everybody!
All my story begins when I switched the data between 2 phones - iphone 3GS and iphone 4. I've done a backup to each of the phones at itunes and then i've done a restore on the other one. The restores went well and the data has switched successfuly.
After that I updated the iphone 4 to the ios 7.1, also with the itunes [and before that I did a backup again]. At the first settings after the update, i've been asked about my language etc, and then i've been asked if I want to define it as a new iphone / restore from icloud / restore from itunes - so i'v chosen the last option.
Unfortunately, after the restore has ended i've just backed to the start point - the same first settings questions has been asked again as I didn't do the restore. Then I've tried to do the restore again and I finished with the same result.
In the meantime I don't have a phone during the last 24 hours, and because my all work is with this phone - I find it as a very terrible problem for me!
Please help to a desperate man like me!!

Idan.I'm happy to say that I solved the problem, and for the community (for the "next generation" that will search a solution for this problem) - I will publish the solution for this problem : I defined as new iphone, and then the restore showed up!

my iphone is unable to restore or update, it says the iphone could not be restored. this device isn't eligible for the requested build.
sounds like your phone was jailbroken. If this is the case, you're hosed.

Trying to update iphone 4s to ios 8. Install failed for "unknown reasons". Trying to restore I phone from I tunes, asked for password to complete restore. I enter ITunes password and then iphone lock password and neither is accepted. What password is required?
I think the password it asked is the one that you used to encrypt iPhone backup.

Tried to update iPhone 4 to iOS 6 and my phone got stuck in recovery mode. My only option now is to restore my iPhone and lose media. However, I then tried to restore my iPhone and error 1603 occurred. My iPhone is now not working!?!?!
if your computer is not recognizing it, try using a different USB port or different usb cable. if that doesnt work you will need to uninstall and reinstall itunes.

Decided to update iphone 4 to ios 5.1 and mid update it froze and the screen is black. Phone does not respond to any combinations of home and power buttons, when plugged into computer it does not see it is plugged in so I cannot restore or anything. Looks like the screen is on it's just unresponsive and black obviously. Has anyone had this problem? I was updating via wifi right in front of my router and my computer.
Spoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department. Her suggestions: change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers. So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue. It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more. Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department. Make them aware of this problem! -

I have followed all the advice in troubleshooter including uninstalling and reinstalling itunes but it still doesn't appear. Please can anyone help with this? Thank you. I ended up performing the Restore after I did an Update, and performing the restore solved the problem----I now have a functioning iPhone with all of my data, pics, and apps on it. Fortunately I made sure that I backed up my iPhone before I tried to update to iOS6. Man, what a headache though, and it sounds like I had it easy compared to some other horror stories I've read. I won't update my iOS on my iPhone again; i've learned my lesson. It remains to be seen whether iOS6 will be worth it :-)

suggestions?Double tap the screen with THREE fingers, that should get it back to normal again.
Then go into Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom > OFF.
Not too sure about the keyboard and random button presses though. Back it up and restore from iTunes, see if that fixes it. -

HALF-SOLUTION!!!! (Restoring only, basically.)
Restore the phone via iCloud.com
1. Go to iCloud.com , and log in.
2. If you want a back up, make sure you back it up to itunes now!
3. Now back to iCloud.com - select the device you want. Press "Erase iPhone" (or iPad, iPod whatever).
You will go through a few steps. Skip the phone number and leave a message, as it isn't lost. Your phone will be restored. No need for plugging in!
4. IMPORTANT: Just set it up as usual. Language, country blah. But then you'll get to a step where it says something like "This iPhone was erased with iCloud. Log in with the Apple ID you used to erase it". In this case, my Dad's. So please do that. Later on, the phone will ask for an Apple ID to be used for the phone. I put my own one as I didn't want my dads!!!! Lol....
5. Plug into iTunes and back-up.
As for updating, I'm still on 7.0.2,,, it ain't working on my phone or itunes!! :( -

i have this same problem on my 3gs, but my bar isnt loaded at all. My itunes was not the latest version when I did the update and im wondering if thats anything to do with it? i dont want to restore it because last time i lost all my album artwork which took me ages to do.

First, try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches after installing new software or apps.
If this does not help, and to rule out a software issue, set it up as new device without using the latest backup, in case that backup contains corrupt data.
Is the camera working after that, restore from the backup. Is the camera still not working, this might be a hardware failure and you'll have to get the phone serviced by Apple:

Just updated iPhone 5 to iOS 7.1.2 (from some version of iOS 6), now it won't sync with iPhoto 9.4.3 on my MacBook pro (running OS 10.8.5). I plug it in and iPhoto recognizes the iPhone but only displays a 'Loading..." message next to the 'New Photos' page.
Tried it also on my older Mac Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and iPhoto 9.2.3 and same problem.
Any ideas? Already tried rebooting both devices.I have same problem but with iPhoto 9.5.1
