Unable to restore Shuffle solution

Just recently I had a very aggravating experience with my first generation Shuffle that I was able to resolve. I post this in the hopes that it may also work for others experiencing my problem.
I "Surprised Removed" my Shuffle from the USB port when my computer locked up when the Shuffle was still syncing. After restarting my computer, I plugged the Shuffle back in to make sure that I did not damage the drive.
Just with my luck, I plugged it in and iTunes didn't automatically pop up. When I opened iTunes it said that my Shuffle was corrupted and should be restored. Fair enough I thought, except when I went to restore it, I got another error telling me that the drive was corrupt and could not be restored.
I tried formatting it in Command Prompt, but that didn't work either. After that, I restarted the computer again and tried several USB ports to make sure that it wasn't my computer.
After nearly pulling my hair out, I came across the "iPod Shuffle Reset Utility" in the support section. It is a fantastic program that I think all Shuffle users should download in case something goes awry. After installing and running the program, my Shuffle worked fine.

that does not work. I recently updated to 1.1.5 software for the shuffle. Then eveyrthing went bad. seems apple has had a lot of problems lately getting updates to work.
so i reset it to version 1.1.3. sometimes it works for a short time. othertimes it won't. when i press play if flashes orange and green.
if I'm lucky it sometimes lets me put music files on it andwill work once.
until this stupid update i have not had many problems with it.
how do i get this stupid ipod working when apple is closed cause i can't phone anyone to get help.

    You will need the help of some sort of 3rd party software to help you copy the content from your Shuffle back to your PC.  Once you have done that, you can reimport this music into iTunes and configure it to sync to your new Shuffle.

  • TS1372 Any tips for "Unable to restore iPod shuffle"?

    I am trying to update an iPod Shuffle 2nd generation I haven't used in several years. I keep getting the error message saying "Unable to restore I  Pod shuffle due to errors.......(long list of choices)
    I unplugged it, repluged it, again I was asked if I wanted to update the software, I said yes, and I don't know what's happening now! This shuffle has hardly ever been  used and I want to use it now when I bicycle...Any suggestions?

    Are you connecting the USB cable to a direct USB port on the Mac (instead of a hub or spare keyboard port)?  Are you using the USB cable with a mini-dock at the iPod end (the one it came with)?

  • Field Techs and Fiber solutions center unable to restore Fios television service

    Fios TV service has been "unavailable" (quick code 8801) since 9/18/09 and service tech and call center wizards unable to restore it as of tonight 9/30/09.  They have changed the entire cable, STB changed to 7216 HD DVR and, for goodness sake, they have made me unplug and replug and reset everything more times than I can remember. One man in Hampton office was able to get it working on two occasions for a day each time and then it disappeared again. I call every night and have called the billing office also.  They don't seem to know what's wrong or what to do. I'm also unable to reach my "genius" at the Hampton Fiber **bleep**'n Ctr. Does anyone else have this problem??  Does anyone know what can fix it?? Is anyone out there able to tell me what to do to find someone who knows what he's doing?

    Apparently my service was restored just for one evening. It's been off since Thursday night again. I ran the diagnostic and oob = 23 db.
    I called tech support last night and got a great guy in RI; he actually read all the notes that the others had written and has scheduled a field tech to come to my house 10/5. He thinks the problem may be in the "wiring" in the house. 
    He believes that errors are accumulating and being released after each reset; that's why the service may be on for a day and then go off again. At least he said "we will get it fixed".
    Verizon has a lot of employees who don't know what they're doing don't they? But the biggest problem is that they don't care. One man in NJ actually said he didn't want to read the notes that the other techs had written because he'd have to put me on hold for a long time; then he put me on hold for a long time...

    Then i took the RMAN backup, now iam shutdown my DB and removed one logfile..
    then i tried to startup the DB but it is saying
    ORA-00313: open failed for members of log group 3 of thread 1
    ORA-00312: online log 3 thread 1: 'E:\ORADATA\ORCL\REDO03.LOG'
    So i tried to restore the Database with my rman backup
    RMAN> restore database;
    But i am unable to restore my logfile in the Datafiles location where as all other datafiles are restored but redo logfiles are not restored.
    So, i am unable to recover my DB
    Please tell me whether i am doing any mistake, what is the solution for my problem.

    All you restored was your datafiles.
    Now issue recover database and that will apply the archive logs.
    This is in the oracle documentation.
    "You must restore backups of these archived logs for recovery to proceed. You can restore either to the default or nondefault location. If you do not have backups, then you must performing incomplete recovery up to an SCN before the first missing redo log and open RESETLOGS."

    In this case after issuing restore database in RMAN, then issue this.
    "Recover database"
    It will then be an incomplete recovery. They should have been multiplexed. Did you restore your controlfile with this backup? You may have to issue an "Alter database open resetlogs;"

And when i try to restore on my new 9810 it says "This data is already wirelessely synchronized with a remote service and cannot be restored by blackberry protect" only for contacts. And i've archived the device by mistake n now it shows "Remote admin commands are not available on archived devices".
    Please help me. I only want my contacts.

    You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

    Hello everyone,
    I have a small problem that I can't seem to find a solution to. I have 3gs that I sync with my Dell laptop running Win7 and I'm using ITunes 9. When I go to sync, everything syncs fine, backups are creating and it seems that there are no problems. No errors are given once the sync/backup are complete. The other day, I needed to restore from backup. Here's where the problem comes in. After a minute or so of ITunes telling me it's restoring, I get a window that pops up saying something along the lines of "unable to complete restore because the backup session failed." I had about 6 backups available and they all came back with the same error trying to restore. After reading about this problem here in the forums, some have suggested turning off anti-virus software, making sure certain programs have been given access in a firewall. I've tried to sync with AV turned off, Firewall correctly set and even turned off and then continue with restoring, but i continue to receive the same error trying to restore. Any ideas on what might be happening?? I've saved my directories with backups and reisntalled ITunes, still no progress.. Thanks in advance for any ideas..

    I suspect your error was 1015, not 1051. This usually involves a jailbroken iPhone, use Google to find your solution.

    I have an Apple TV 2 (3rd).
    It does not see or connect to any WIFI connections.
    The moment I put in a LAN cable I get a black screen and nothing hapens, no matter how long I wait.
    Restoring is not possible because it can't download the firmware.
    I connected it to my Macbook Air, iTunes does see the Apple TV but says unable to connect.
    At the moment I am stuck. Before starting this discussion I did google a lot but I am unable to find a solution.
    I hope someone can help me out.

    I'm not sure which model you mean by Apple TV 2 (3rd), but here are the instructions for both the 2nd and 3rd generation models.
    Get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
    Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
    Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
    Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

    I've been looking through topics about restoring phone's data using PCSuite and didn't find any solution to contacts restore fail.
    Here is my configuration:
    WindowsXP Home SP2, PCSuite 6.81.13 (UK / PL)
    Phone: Nokia 6280 (3.81 firmware).
    Few days ago i've done backup of my N6280 (PL-Plus version). Because those models sold by my network has very broken firmware I've decided to sold it and by a new one directly from Nokia Poland official dealer.
    Now I'm trying to restore phone backup and everything gets restored except contacts.
    No matter if I connect via IR, Bluetooth(Windcomm) or supplied cable.
    Even tried on a different PC (XP Pro SP2).
    First I was sure that it is only impossible to restore contacts to this phone (broken backup file or sth) so I tried to do the same operation on N6610.
    I've created backup of N6610 (with few not important contacts), deleted phone's memory and then tried to restore.
    Same error. Both my Series 40 phones are unable to restore contacts.
    Before I've bought N6280 again I was using (for 48h) N73 model. Backup from 6280 restored perfectly on it, but I don't have access to any Symbian based phone now.
    How to get my contacts back (they are all in backup file that don't want to get restored on Series40 phone)? ((((
    If you have any solution (maybe newer beta version of PCSuite) or any converter for older 6.7 suite let me now.

    Phone is Ok. It was not flashed with any unofficial upgrades. It was buyed from official Nokia retail channel in Poland, charged and then connected to PC.
    I have found solution last night diggind deep inside nbu file and RFC regarding VCARD file format.
    The reason why contacts were not restored is very simple yet very frustrating.
    In Poland we use characters that have ASCII codes higher than 127 (7-bits). PC Suite 6.8.13 writes backup file with those characters in binary form. Meanwhile it sets ENCODING flag in VCARD as QUOTED-PRINTABLE. If so those characters should be changed to =XX form rather than binary form.
    I wrote simple PHP script (since PHP server was handy) that changed all occurences of binary chars in VCARDS. Then all contacts were imported without any problems.
    I can post PHP source file here if moderators won't ban me for that
    So here is the conclusion: Dear Nokia. When you back up phone with UTF-8 characters you have to convert it to =XX form. At least if you want to be able to restore them back to NokiaOS based phone. From my experiments I can say that Symbian 9 (N71,72) based phones have no problems with this backup file.
    (Please refer to: RFC 2426, http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2426.txt for more details in VCARD 3.0 format)
    I assume that the same problem may be with VCALENDAR but my calendar items fortunately have no polish characters inside.
    I hope this helps other people. I suspect that this problem will only occur on NokiaOS based phones with characters that not belong to US-ASCII (32-127 decimal) character set.

  • Bug? Unable to restore actions toolbox

    Query from gh_sg - March 2008: The left pane of the Actions window generally comprises of 2 sub-panes - the upper Action toolbox and the lower Script navigator. By chance i dragged the divider (between the 2 sub-panes) up so much so that the Action toolbox is out of sight. Now i am unable to restore the Action toolbox. Any help on how to restore this sub-pane would be appreciated.

    Shouting is done with all caps, and often lots of exclamation points, so I didn't see it that way!
    Personally I wouldn't upgrade to CS4 for a couple reasons..
    1) I never did... it was full of bugs when it was first released so I avoided it altogether...  They finally came out with a patch sometime last year, but I don't think they cured all of its ills... no regrets at my end except for not being able to help folks who attach CS4 files
    2) CS5 is rumored to be released sometime this year, so if you upgrade tto CS4 now, you'll have wished you didn't when you see CS5 released a few months from now (that's what happened to me when I bought CS3... but my reluctance to upgrade right away paid off in my POV... I found the forums first and the issues that CS4 had before a kneejerk reaction could lead me to buy it)
    Since I have CS3, maybe I'll take a closer look into your dilemna, hopefully without recreating it for myself.  I have to think there must be an option somehwre to display whatever section it is you're talking about.  For myself, I code everything by hand, so I'm blind to whatever is off to the side--never pay any attention to it.

    I applied the workaround listed by Cisco for bug CSCsy47235 on our wave device, which is also mentioned numerous times on the forum here, to do: disk delete-data-partitions and reload. after the reload, we are unable to restore the backed up blade image file, we get the error: '162GiB image is too large! 160GiB image is allowed'. when i try to create a virtual blade, the maximum disk size has reduced from 162GB(before the change) to 160GB(after the change).
    Any idea or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Tim,
    These disk size are fixed and cannot be altered, hence you will not be able to allocate the unused cifs/dre to vb disk or the unused vb disk for cifs and dre.
    There is no way to increase this as well, as most of these are determined whne you load the software and the partition table is fixed. Hence you wont find any maximum numbers. 32 gb is what you will get as part of wave 274 and wave 474 and that is the maximum disk space. You can split this across two virual blades , allocating them 16gb each , but however the total still cannot exceed the maximum of 32gb for all the virual machines.

    Unless you have a jailbroken phone that has altered the baseband, that usually a hardware failure, in which case you'll have to take it to the Apple store for evaluation.
