Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

Unable to restore - Unknown error (9)

Updated (tried to) iphone to 1.2.2 - whichever just came out - and it seems to have killed it. When I connect the iphone it detects it, but asks to restore it. When I click restore, it tries, but then I get a message that unknown error occurred (9). No idea what that means.
The iphone simply has a picture of the itunes icon, a picture of a cable and an arrow pointing to the itunes icon. Anything I can do - or do I own a paperweight?

Unable to Restore - Unknown Error occurred (6)

I tried to update my ITunes to the most recent update. It has wiped out my ipod completely. I followed all of the suggestions that are in the troubleshooting section. I uninstalled/reinstalled ITunes. It gets all the way to act like it is going to start syncing and I get the message IPOD could not restore A unknown error occured (6). The screen will only show the little Apple logo and the connect to USB port Logo. I see that others are having this issue, but no one has posted a solution. Does anyone have any ideas? I would really appreciate it. I hate living without my IPOD!!

I've only used this Itouch for less than a day and it's gone down with this. I have tired all the suggestions from both articles. I've tired it on 2 different PCs and 2 different laptops, with still no joy! Any more ideas please? At the moment it's an expensive paperweight, however a good looking one!

How to solve Unable to restore Unknown Error (47)?

I'm at my wit's end now. Happened after upgrade to iOS 4.2.1. Initially I couldn't complete my restore,and the bar froze. Then after leaving it overnight, and I saw that it was still frozen there, I disconnected the phone. For hours I've been trying to restore my iphone but all I keep getting now is an error 47. Tried restoring from another computer, removing itunes, installing the latest version, but still nothing.

I am trying to restore my iPhone 4 to factory settings and it is coming up with this error.

lets start from the beginning...
for the last few days my ipod has been playing up, the touch screen keeps freezing and it is very slow, last night it simply stopped working and wouldn't turn on, so i plugged it into my computer and it told me to restore... i clicked restore and it began the process of restoring, but it then said there was an 'unknown error (1604)' and that the ipod could not be restored...
theres the story, now if anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated...

Dont necessarily wasnt to just keep adding to the string but I had the same problem and called Tech Support. Bottom line is that they told me to take it to a store and if they couldnt fix it they would replace it. Tech suooprt thought it had something to do with basic software corrupted. I would also retry to restore it and it would go through the process but I would have the same basic problem. Going to store tomorrow 3/15 and will let you know how I make out.

I've gotten it for the second time now and had to send it to Apple Store AGAIN for help. Cause it won't turn back on again. Just says "plug me into itunes".
I know several other friends of mine who've gotten the same error and...well, suddenly after some days and after a lot of differen't tries. It all of a sudden works again.
This error is just mindblowing. Why is the only choice I get after installing to "reinstall and update" ..why not reinstall and NOT update?! The update is what is causing the frigging problem. This error MUST be well known, yet it's not..cause when I try to search for the UNKNOWN ERROR 1604...there's nothing to find. Why is this?
I've not just spent over 10 hours trying to fix this, but I end up having to send it to Apple Store for the second time and they will probably send it back again and say..."hey, there's nothing wrong with it, but we had to reinstall EVERYTHING" (!?) There IS something wrong when you have to reinstall everything!
Doesn't seem like Apple is addressing this issue at all even if there's a lot of people having trouble with it.

If the Apple Store is simply restoring the phone and giving it back...I would point to your computer as the culprit here...
Are you updated to all current service packs? Not plugged into any USB hub and directly connected to the BACK of the computer?
I would start with your computer as the culprit and work from there. It also may be something as simple as a bum cable.

Getting "unable to sync - unknown error (1140) on iPhone and iPad.

Yesterday, I got a message when trying to sync my iPhone 4S - "unable to sync, unknown error (1140). After several unsuccessful attempts, I did a complete restore on my iPhone (took forever!). Today, plugging in my iPad mini, I get the same error. This looks like an Apple problem to me. Any suggestions before I think about doing a complete restore on my iPad?

If you haven't done so already, update iPhoto on your Mac. You might want to consider updating the OS to 10.6.8 if you haven't already done so.
