Unable to save as "Reader Extended" in Acrobat 9.2

Hello,
I have created a form in Acrobat 9.2. When I save the form and open it in Adobe Reader I can complete the form but I cannot save the completed form, only print.
I need to save the save the form as "Reader Extended" but I cannot find the option when I am saving the form in Acrobat 9.2.
Any ideas?
David

It should be under Advanced - Extend User Rights in Adobe Reader... (or
something similar to that)

  • Form Creation in Acrobat X Pro - unable to save as Reader Extended PDF

    I am using Acrobat X Pro on the Windows 7 OS. I have created a document in Word (Office 2010), saved it as a PDF and added form fields. When I try to Save As Reader Extended PDF, the options are grayed out. How do I create a form from a Word document that allows all end users to be able to type in the fields, use a digital signature, save a copy and print the PDF with the completed fields?

    In create the document in MS Word and save the file. Then I select print, and choose Adobe PDF as my printer to save it as a PDF. I then open the PDF file and select Tools, Forms, to create the form and add fields as needed. After I'm finished, I attempt to "Save As" and try to select Reader Enabled PDF, but the options are grayed out and unavailable.

  • Problem trying to make a LC Designer ES4 form "Reader Extended" in Acrobat XI Pro

    I have a form that I created in LC Designer ES4 that I was able to successfully "Reader Extend" using Acrobat XI Pro.  I added a script to the form to allow for the deselecting of radio buttons (which I found on this forum), and now I cannot Reader Extend the form.
    Here are the specifics of my environment:
    Acrobat XI Pro - Ver. 11.0.10
    Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES4 - Ver.  11.0.20130826.2.901444
    Windows 7 Professional, SP1
    Here's the error I am getting in the Acrobat debugger:
    Exception in line 1 of function top_level, script Document-Level:!ADBE::0100_VersChkStrings
    InvalidGetError: Get not possible, invalid or unknown.  Doc.layout:1:Document-Level:!ADBE::0100_VersChkStrings
    This error message appears at the very bottom of the debugger window:
    Unable to find source for Document-Level:!ADBE::0100_VersChkStrings
    Acrobat XI Pro does not allow me to save the new file, and gives this error:
    This document could not be Reader enabled.
    I used the chat support for Acrobat XI Pro, and was told that this is a LC Designer issue.  Since there's no phone support for LC (at least not free), I came to this forum for help.
    Here's the script object (JavaScript) that I inserted into the main subform:
    form1.Main.#variables[0].RBClear_Script_Object - (JavaScript, client)
    var rbs = new Object();
    function handleRBClick(o)
        if (rbs[o.name]==null)
            rbs[o.name]=o.rawValue;
        else{
            if (rbs[o.name] == o.rawValue)
                o.selectedMember().rawValue = 0;
                o.execEvent('change');
            rbs[o.name] = o.rawValue;
    I then call the above function from within a radio button's group list object (not individual items).
    form1.Main.Subform_Stock_Detail.Table2.Row3.Subform_Responsibility.RadioButtonList::click - (JavaScript, client)
    RBClear_Script_Object.handleRBClick(this);
    This all works fine when I preview the form from within LC Designer ES4.  I then open the dynamic PDF form in Acrobat XI Pro, click File, Save as Other..., Reader Extended PDF, then Enable More Tools.
    Acrobat shows the errors at the top of this post within the Acrobat debugger window.  When I close debugger, Acrobat does not allow me to save the new file, and gives this error:
        This document could not be Reader enabled.
    I've been searching for days and cannot find any resolution to this issue.  It appears to me that this is a security related issue, and Acrobat does not like the running of a function within the form.  Just a guess.  I can't think of anything else.
    Anyone come across this issue, and how were you able to fix it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dean

    Although I did not find a cause for the errors, I did find a workaround in my case.
    This only happens when running the Javascript Debugger in Acrobat XI Pro.  If you turn it off, you can Reader Extend the document.  If you turn it on, you have to cycle through all of the debugger errors/warnings using the arrow button in the top left corner of the debugger window, then close that window.  Still not sure what the errors are for, but at least I got the form to work.

  • Can't use the Save As Reader Extended PDF option

    Hi team,
    I have exactly the same issue as was discussed here (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/865292)
    But I have lecensed Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
    I use Create Form from Existing Document (no securyty restructions - see pictures below).
    I was able to use that functionality (Save As Reader Extended PDF) once and than saving options became grayed out with any document (pdf, doc including the one I used originally) as a template.
    Could you please help me?
    Thanks,

  • Automate save as reader extended pdf for commenting

    Does anyone know a way to create an applet or droplet that will save a PDF as a reader-extended PDF for commenting?
    I make lots of individual PDFs and each time I have to open the PDF and save as reader extended etc. Sometimes I forget.
    Can this be done with Automator? Quickeys? An Acrobat Action? Applescript? I haven't figured it out yet but it sure would be helpful!

    There is no Adobe supported means for automating the application of usage rights, apart from their LiveCycle Reader Extensions server-based product. This is a very intentional restriction.

  • Acrobat Pro won't allow to save with Reader Extended Features

    I've saved forms this way before because all the users of our forms only have the free Reader version. For some reason it now won't allow me to save with the extended features. When I save as and hover over "Reader Extended PDF" it shows my 3 options but none of them are clickable. I don't know why it has saved before, but it won't now.
    I also have a secondary issue. A form I previously, successfully saved this way is now not working for one of the users. It won't allow her to save the information she inputs. To my knowledge it has not been changed and it has only been used by a few people. Why would it suddenly stop allowing her to save?
    I am working on a Mac, but the users are all on PC's. I've never had this be an issue before though.

    Be sure you're not in form editing mode when you attempt to enable the document.
    Regarding not being able to save with Reader after initially being able to, this has been reported before many times but the casue is often elusive. The document has somehow changed in a way that prevents the usage rights from being validated. This is not supposed to happen, but it does.

  • Automate Save as, Reader Extended for 160 .pdf forms using a script or macro?

    I have 167 pdf forms made using Adobe Acrobat Pro X. when I sent out a test it could not be saved using Adobe reader. I know how to Save As; Reader Exended pdf; Enable additional features.  this also forces me to create yet another document called something different like mydoc-2.pdf. Since you can't save these feature in the existing one?
    Is there a way to automate this using javascript or something so I don't have to do each one.
    1. open each pdf documewnt
    2. set the Save As; Reader Exended pdf; Enable additional features.
    3. save as name -2
    repeat 1-3 for 167 files in folder A

  • Form created in Pro. Unable to save in reader

    Hello,
    i've created a form in acrobat pro 9 (trial), and in 8 (no trail) which clients have to fill in and send back (pref. by e-maill).
    Now i know this is possible with a button. But then the data is send back in xml format and the person who should import it doens't know how to do that.
    So: what i want is this. Clients will fill in the form (in reader), they can save the filled in form and send the complete pdf back by e-mail.
    Is this possible in reader? (no it isnt....), is there an extra option i need to use? Tell me: how can i arrange this...
    Thanks in advance!

    You need to enable the feature for people with Reader to save the form.
    You'll find the option under the "Advanced" menu in Acrobat Pro.

  • Unable to save document - Read Only or Open by another user error occurs when PDF is opened from Windows Explorer

    Adobe Pro XI  - using Windows 7 Pro OS
    When a PDF document is opened from Windows Explorer, and pages are added, deleted, notations made, any type of changes, it cannot be saved until Windows Explorer is fully closed.  If you try to save the document, you receive the following error - "The document could not be saved.  The file may be read-only, or another user may have it opened.  Please save the document with a different name or in a differnt folder. "   I have confirmed the document is not read only, it is not open by another user, and it is not open multiple times.  Once you fully close Windows Explorer, and try to save the document, it saves without a problem.
    Are there settings in either Adobe Pro XI or Windows that will allow you to save documents without closing Windows Explorer first?
    Thank you for any assistance you can provide.  This error is a frustration since I open all my documents through Windows Explorer.

    - When it is done, click anywhere on the screen.
    - In Tasks, click on “Close Form editing”.
    - Go to menu “File -> Save as -> Reader Extended PDF ->Enable additional features”, click on “Save now”.
    - Fill in the file name and click on “Save”.

    - In Tasks, click on “Close Form editing”.

  • Why can't I save the form I created in Acrobat XI as a Reader Extended PDF?

    I created and saved the document just like I have always done, with form and signature fields.  When I click file>save as>reader extended, it let's me go through and name a new verison of the file, but then says "This document cannot be saved as reader enable."  It gives no reason.  If I can't save it as reader enabled, as I've done in the past with every single form, I'd like to know WHY so that I can fix it.

    I have run into this issue at times too. If you have the original document that you used to create the form saved in a folder in Windows Explorer, try closing Windows Explorer before saving the document with reader extended properties enabled. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesnt. . .

  • Acrobat X "Reader Extending" Issues

    I have Adobe Acrobat X version 10.0.3.
    I'm trying to allow Reader users to sign documents. I went File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF in Acrobat. Saved the document and it does not allow the user to digitally sign the document. It does allow them to fill out the form and save it. I can sign the form in Acrobat. The users are using Reader X 10.0.1.
    I used Acrobat 9.4.4 to "Reader Extend" the form and that allows the users to fill out, digitally sign and save the form.
    Is there a issue with Acrobat X?

    Are you using Standard or Pro? Standard does not apply the digital signature usage right when Reader-enabling a document.

  • How to make a pdf (form) accessible for reader in Adobe Acrobat x pro?

    Hi guys, i have bit of a problem here as i am new to the Acrobat pro X
    Using Acrobat pro 9 i always could save a LiveCycle pdf form with permission to fill and save as a reader user. now i have upgraded to cs6 and i have no clue how to do that anymore. The half of the options are gone and i can't access the older Acrobat pro anymore.
    Does anyone know how to save a pdf form using Acrobat X for adobe reader users giving permission to read and save my pdf files?

    For Acrobat X go to File-> Save as->Reader Extended PDF
    This will embed the reader extended rights in PDF.
