Unable to save files via WebDAV into portal

My Windows Explorer client is running on a windows 2000 environment.
We have set up webDAV to be able to save files directly in to portal from Windows Explorer. I cannot get this to work.
I have a connection and can browse all pages in portal via Win Explorer, and also open files and save them back. I can also drag and drop files into portal from other folders on our file server. When I try to save directly though from word or when downloading from other server directly into portal, I get error message: "You cannot save into the folder specified. Please choose another location."
Thankful for help.

What version are you on? In 9.0.2.6, more detailed error messages are written to the WebDAV user's personal page (if one exists). Look there to see what the problem is.
If you're using 9.0.2, I recommend upgrading to 9.0.2.6 (or 9.0.4 when available). The WebDAV feature in particular is much more stable in that release.
Upgrade information is at http://portalcenter.oracle.com/upgrades.

    Ok this worked to solve the error.
    Use cmd prompt in windows 7 or 8 and run as admin:
    sc config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi
    sc config mrxsmb20 start= disabled
    No need for all that power shell nonsense as shown elsewhere for windows 8.
    That's it. Also force smb2 disabling on the apple side for good measure.
    With the above I was able to network mavericks and windows 8.1 pro flawlessly. He issues I had before where I could not read video, ISO and audio files (but could open documents and pictures from the windows machine connected to an apple network share folder went away.

    Microsoft Office 2004 (Word) unable to save files
    I have been running Office 2004 on my Intel iMac with Snow Leopard for some time and all of a sudden I cannot save a document. Word just stopped responding and I have to force quit. I can open Word and create a new document but I cannot save it. I reinstalled Word but that didn’t help. Then went to the Internet and found at least one other Mac user having the same problem which it suggests is caused by a recent Mac Security Update:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2004-macword/word-2004-wil l-not-open-or-save-documents/b04eb870-9b0d-4f3b-bb47-b122301e36f6
    So I check for a new Mac Security Update and sure enough there was one. I downloaded it and now Word seems to be working, as it should. I can both open and save files. The only problem remaining is that when I open Word I get the following error message “An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library”. I contacted Apple but they were unable to help.
    How can I get rid of this error message?

    Look, I realize you might have to get your machine working, so this is how you revert back.
    Restore proceedure to pre-Security Update 2012-001 v 1.0 & v 1.1
    #1 Backup your personal data off the machine.
    Backup files off the computer (not to TimeMachine). If you don't have a external drive, get one and connect to the USB/Firewire port and simply drag and drop copy your User folder to the external drive, it will copy all your files. It's best to have two backups of your data off the machine when trying to restore.
    Disconnect all drives now to prevent any mistakes from occuring.
    #2 Reinstall OS X 10.6 from disk
    Get out your 10.6 install disk and make sure it's clean and polished (very soft cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol, no scratches) If your disk is borked, you'll have to order a new one from Apple with your serial number.
    Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk (wired keyboard, internal optical drive), use Disk Utility First Aid to >Repair Disk  of your internal drive  (do not format or erase!!), Quit DU and simply re-install 10.6.
    Note: Simply reinstalling 10.6 version from disk (without erasing the drive) only replaces 10.6.8 with 10.6.x and bundled Apple programs, won't touch your files (backup anyway)  or most programs, unless they installed a kext file into OS X itself. (only a few on average do this)
    #3 Update to 10.6.8 without Security Update 2012-001 v1.0 or v1.1
    Reboot and log in, update to 10.6.8 via Software Update, but EXCLUDE THE Security Update 2012-001 by checkinig the details and unchecking the blue check box.
    #4 Reinstall any non-working third party programs
    When you reboot, make sure to reinstall any programs that require kext files installed into OS X, you'll know, they won't work when you launch them or hang for some reason as they are missing the part they installed into OS X.
    If for some freakish reason you get gray screen at any time when booting (possible it might occur when you reinstall older programs), hold the shift key down while booting (Safe Mode, disables kext files) and update your installed third party software so it's compatible with 10.6.8.

    That's it really.

  • Unable to edit Excel file via WebDAV in IE

    LS,
    Aim
    To be able to open an Excel file in Oracle Portal via IE for editing (ergo, if changed it needs to be saved in the same location where it resides = database)
    What have we done so far
    OraDAV has been implemented (basic manner), a pagegroup has been created in Oracle Portal for security, next we stored some Excel files for test purposes.
    Opening and editing using Windows Explorer (when testing) works fine, but opening from browser (Internet Explorer) opens Excel-file in read-only mode!
    Workaround
    Create windows shortcuts to Excel files in the OraDAV Webfolder, shortcuts are then placed in a public Windows-share which is running on a workstation.
    Accessing these shortcuts from both Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer works fine then.
    But...
    Unfortunately, implementing a windows share on a server is considered to be not an option by the network security team, and it's also not an option to continue using a workstation for that purpose.
    What does Metalink say (we created TAR for this)
    CLARIFICATION
    ====================
    This issue happens on WEBDAV.
    Using=>Windows Explorer it works fine.
    Using=>Internet Explorer it does not do as the customer aspected.
    Webdav:
    Using=>Windows Explorer
    going to folder
    http://<machine>:7778/dav_portal/.../QA1.XLS
    double clicked QA1.XLS and this opens in Microsoft Excel.
    After made modifications the file is saved correctly without any issue.
    Using=>Internet Explorer
    Calling the
    URL:http://<machine>:7778/.../QA1.XLS
    the file QA1.XLS opens within Internet Explorer the Microsoft Excel plugin.
    Problem is it the file opened in read-only mode and when you click save it wants to save
    in local drive.
    ISSUE VERIFICATION

    TESTCASE
    I have tested the same issue on 9.0.2.3 and 10.1.2 portal versions.
    They are all behaving the same.

    This is intended behaviour.

    Integrating with the desktop
    File-type item content can also be published to the portal repository via the Webbased Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) protocol. Using a WebDAV client such as Windows Explorer, a portal page group can be mapped as a Web Folder. Users can then simply drag and drop content, files, and folders between portal pages and the desktop. File-type items can also be opened, edited, and saved directly from WebDAV desktop applications like MS Office 2000.
    Thus...
    Even though Metalink is implying it is not possible, one would think it IS possible, since IE is also a valid WebDAV client.
    Bottom line
    Does anyone know how to set up Portal in combination with WebDAV to ensure editing of Excel files will happen via Internet Explorer AND changes will be saved back onto the original location
    Thanks, Patrick

    hi patrick,
    this problem is not solvable on the serverside since this is a desktop integration problem. since you want to use excel as your editor you have to use excel's client side software.
    oracle drive purely addresses desktop integration and is not meant to be a server side component. it is a webdav client and for that only ensures that the communication between the client and the portal server has as much useful functionality as possible.
    the only other option that i see is downloading the document to the client, update it and copy it back up to the portal server, which is cumbersome.
    all webdav clients are client side software that is either shipped with the OS (MS webfolders) or needs to be installed on the client (oracle drive).
    you could check if there is software availble that is an excel plug-in for internet explorer which at the same time talks webdav to portal. not sure if this exists ?

  • HP officejet pro 8600 unable to save file

    thank you for reading this and helping.
    I have an HP officiate pro 8600 printer/scanner.  I was able to scan and save files to the mac from the network.  Now since the Yosemite and server  upgrade, i am not able to do this.  I have reprobagated rights, created a new share, new user and still am unable to safe a scanned file.
    the error I get is:  Incorrect credentials.
    Anyone also have this?  What is fix?
    Thank you

    I finally solved it.  Reflecting back on previous message boards I decided to try one last time.  Some posters have found the problem in the Antivirus, Firewall protections.  (By the way, I had even upgraded my router with no luck).I have Norton AntiVirus provided by the cable company.1. I turned off everything in the firewall.  Although this left me vulnerable for a few mintues, I needed a fast test.2. It worked!  I was able to print something immediately.3. I went back into the firewall, turned everything back on but turned off an individual switch within the firewall that said to "share the printer. "4. After turning it off, I was able to print and still have the most important parts of the firewall.This ultimately met my needs.Perhaps HP could:1. Do a better job at beta testing prior to release, including various brands of firewalls.  Is there even a beta test process?2. Provide a better description of the error since all indicators within the drivers say the printer is connected.  There should be a message indicating that it's connected but unable to print due to firewall protections.

  • I am unable to upload files via web browser

    Good morning
    I have just upgraded to Mavericks (10.9.5), and I am running into a weird issue. I am unable to upload any files via the web browser. If I go to a website, and select an Upload File option, I am taken to Finder, where I am able to select the file, and press attach. The issue comes when I press upload on the website. It always either times out, or gives me an error that I was disconnected from the server. This happens on Safari, Firefox, and Chrome. I'm not sure what to do... I've repaired disk permissions and tried a lot of different security settings, but I am stumped.
    Thank you

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
              SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
    from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • Upload / Save file via FileUpload UI Element under predefined path

    Hi,
    I am pretty new to this topic and need some help.
    I need a Web Dynpro App where I can select a file via FileUpload UI Element and save this file to a predefined path e.g. to a server. I already found [this help|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/00062266-3aa9-2910-d485-f1088c3a4d71?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] but in this example the file is stored at the SAP Server!
    How can I achieve this? May you give me a sample code?
    I appreciate your help.
    Regards

    Hi Martni, Above answer was incomplete
    try{
         File fp = new File(relativePath+ fileName);
         fp.createNewFile();
         FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(fp);
         BufferedOutputStream bos = new BufferedOutputStream(fos);
         InputStream l_is_FileStream = elAttachmentsElement.getVa_Resource().read(false);
         int l_int_NoOfBytes = l_is_FileStream.available();
         byte[] byteArray = new byte[l_int_NoOfBytes];
         l_is_FileStream.read(byteArray, 0, l_int_NoOfBytes);
         bos.write(byteArray);
         bos.flush();
    catch (Exception e) {
         wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException("Cannot save the file: "+fileName);
    In the above snippet "relativePath" is the path to the folder in WAS and  "filename" is the name of the file along with its extn Ex. test.doc, or image.jpg
    InputStream l_is_FileStream = elAttachmentsElement.getVa_Resource().read(false)
    The above line of code is the sixth line in the snippet and here "elAttachmentsElement" is the element of the node having "Va_Resource" context attribute, which is bound to FileUpload UI element.

  • Publish files via WebDav stored in BLOB

    Hi,
    is it possible to publish files (PDF, DOC ...) stored in a table with column datatype BLOB via XMLDB/WebDav?
    If yes, does exists somewhere an how to do?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Martin

    Currently XML DB can only publish non-xml content via WebDAV etc if it's stored in the XML DB repository. We looking at this for a future release. For the moment you'd have to move the documents from the column into the repository. If you can you might want to consider simply storing the path or resid in the application table and the content in the repository. Depending on the application you might be able to create a new table that contains a path or RESID inplace of the BLOB column and then create a new view to replace current table with a view that includes a BLOB column based on xdburitype(),

  • Unable to save files permissions issue (this file is locked)

    This is my first post here so thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.
    After creating a new secondary admin account I logged into it and wanted to access my documents folder on my main account so I added the new user as having "read and write" permissions for the folder and "applied to enclosed items". This worked however, when i logged back into my main account I am not UNABLE TO MAKE ANY SAVES TO ANY OF MY FILES IN THE DOCUMENTS FOLDER.
    This is despite my user account having "read and write access" for the affected files.
    Steps taken to solve issues:
    1. Removed second account by deleting it through Sytem Prefs. STILL NOT WORKING
    2. Applied "read and write" privalliges to the entire docuemnts folder and enclosed items for main admin account. STILL NOT WORKING
    3. Used Disc Utilities to run a "repair permissions" on HD. STILL NOT WORKING.
    4. Held Command R after restarting in "Repair Mode" - selected terminal and typed "reset password" - from that window I Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. STILL NOT WORKING!
    Does anyone know how to solve this issue? I know you can duplicate a file, resave it and it solves it but I have 1000's of files and this would take me weeks.
    Many thanks in advance... Lion is 10.7.2 and still a nightmare :-(

    When I first started using Oracle9i JDeveloper everything went ok. Then I changed the permissions on my local C: drive and when I saw this caused problems with my swap file I set them back to what they were. Now my problem is that I cannot continue to work on coding as I cannot now save anything in JDeveloper as it keeps saying I cannot save files and that I should check the permissions. Anyone know what my permissions should be ? I have granted uncle Tom Cobbley and all full everythng (CRUD) access to my local disk and this does not seem to have solved the problem. Any ideas ? Steven:
    When you changed permissions back, did you propagate the change to subdir and files?
    Also, using the explorer, select the file, bring up its properties, and check the 'Security' panel to see if it indeed allows all permissions to everyone.
    Thanks.

  • Unable to save files

    I have a WIndows 7 64bit machine with Office 2010 std 32 bit. When a user tries to save a file to a 2003 server I get the error message document not saved. I see a 0kb .TMP file created and left there. The person can create and delete files there no problem
    but they can never save files there. I have tried reinstalling everything including the OS. I have tried downgrading to Office 2007 and I still get the same results. They are able to save to this folder using Windows XP and Office 2007. I am a domain admin
    and I am not having any problems saving files in any of the configurations.

    Hi,
    Please first check the permission of the profile to that folder.
    If you are sure that the permission has been assigned correctly, then it might be an issue for Windows 7 and Server 2003 compatibility. Please try to install any updates that available to both operation systems.
    If your server is Windows Small Business Server 2003, then please try to install below update:

  • Unable to save files as pdf with CS5 AI

    What do I need to do to be able to once again save files as pdf with out freezing up AI

    are you using a MAC or a Windows machine??
    there is no other place to set your PDF exports--(there are workarounds-but that doesn't solve the base problem)  there should just be a choice in a drop down menu when you do a 'save as' and the PDF options window should open when you choose Adobe PDF
    you should 'consider' reinstalling Illustrator as it seems that you've somehow lost your presets for PDF--BUT--
    first--need to know what OS you're running--if you recently updated a 'MAC' (to Mavericks 10.9.x) that could be the problem and I don't know if CS5 is problematic with Mavericks--IF you're using a Windows machine--a reinstall may prove to be the solution.
    let me know what OS you're running...OK?
    this window 'should' get to this other window
