Unable to save LiveCycle PDF form in Adobe Reader: Steps on Adobe don't work

I went to follow the steps provided in the help video on Adobe. Two issues I couldn't solve:
How do you login to LiveCycle via the web as an admin? How do you get to the LiveCycle admin portal?
The local host (http://localhost:8080/ReaderExtensions) is unavailable. Every time I try to go there I get a 500 error message page. What is the new local host?
The steps I followed were:
So according to a video on its official website, in order to enable LiveCycle forms in Reader so they can be saved you need an Adobe Reader Extension which means we need a Reader Extension Credential loaded onto the server. For that you need to purchase a Reader extension license from Adobe.
However, there is a trial version Eric or Jay could instal for me on the Remote Desktop. They can find it at:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle.html
They will want to download the “Trial Reader Extensions Certificate” under “Downloads and updates”. It’s a 30 day trial which should work fine for our needs.
The credential then needs to be imported into the Adobe Administrator. To do that they need to:
Login to LiveCycle as an admin (via the web?)
Go to “Settings"
Go to “Trust store management”
Go to “Local credentials”
Click “Import"
Trust store type should be “Reader Extensions Credential”
Give it a name (i.e. Alias)
Browse to credential file
.pfx is the credential file
.txt is the password
Right-click the .txt
Click “Open”
Copy password from notepad
Close notepad
Open the .pfx file
Paste in password copied from .txt file under “Password” in import form
Click OK
Then there’s something about going to Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions program (http://localhost:8080/ReaderExtensions). Don’t ask. I’m personally lost at this point.
In Extensions program they need to:
Select the Extensions credential
Click the check box next to
“Basic form fill-in”
“Import and export data”
“Submit outside of web browser”
“Database and web service connectivity”
“Digital Signatures”
“Commenting”
“Online Commenting"
Set “Draft Level” to “Final”
Click the check box next to “Full Save”
“Browse” to the SNAP Survey I created and saved on the server.
Click “Apply”
In new window that appears:
Click “Download”
Save back to the server

If you're on the machine that's running LC the administrator console is http://localhost:8080/adminui
If you're not able to get to localhost:8080/ReaderExtensions then I suspect the LiveCycle server is not on your machine.  If that's the case you'll have to find out the name of the server running LiveCycle and connect using that name instead of localhost.

  • How do I enable a LiveCycle PDF form to be saved in Adobe Reader?

    I have an interactive PDF form that I created in LiveCycle. However, when it is opened with Adobe Reader, the user is unable to save it. They can only print from Reader. How do I enable the LiveCycle PDF form to be saved in Adobe Reader?

    You have to add save rights with Acrobat.
    Open you form in Acrobat and then save it via File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools.

  • I am unable to download my PDF. It is asking for my adobe livecycle rights management credentials. I have no clue what that is. I am using a PC windows7. Please help me.

  • How to make a pdf (form) accessible for reader in Adobe Acrobat x pro?

    Hi guys, i have bit of a problem here as i am new to the Acrobat pro X
    Using Acrobat pro 9 i always could save a LiveCycle pdf form with permission to fill and save as a reader user. now i have upgraded to cs6 and i have no clue how to do that anymore. The half of the options are gone and i can't access the older Acrobat pro anymore.
    Does anyone know how to save a pdf form using Acrobat X for adobe reader users giving permission to read and save my pdf files?

    For Acrobat X go to File-> Save as->Reader Extended PDF
    This will embed the reader extended rights in PDF.

  • How do I purchase reader extensions to save a PDF form that has been filled out in Acrobat Reader?

    I have just discovered that in order to save a PDF form that has been electronically filled out in Acrobat Reader, that I have to purchase reader extensions to make this possible.  I would like to speak to someone about the price and how to purchase.
    I cannot find a phone number on your site, so I am hoping to get an answer from Adobe this way.
    Thanks,
    Chani

    Thanks everyone for responding.  I should have supplied more information.
    I was hired by my client to create PDF forms that can be downloaded from their website, filled out electronically in Acrobat Reader, and then saved (with all the form fields filled in) and emailed.
    I was supplied with scanned forms as the base for creating the form fields in Acrobat Pro.  These web visitors that will be filling out the forms and emailing them will only have Acrobat Reader, most likely.
    I created the forms in Acrobat Pro, and they worked great when I tested them ( in Acrobat Pro) - I could save the form field data.  However, my client has come back to me with numerous complaints from their web visitors - they cannot save the form once they have filled it out in Acrobat Reader and keep the data they have entered.  Instead, they have to print the form physically, scan it, and email it that way (kind of low tech for the year 2013, and not easy for these people).
    So, my end goal is to update these forms in Acrobat Pro so they can be filled out by folks only using Acrobat Reader and saved with the form field data intact.  Seems like a no-brainer that Acrobat Pro should have this capability without purchasing additional extensions.  However, in my research online, I have found several posts that suggest that purchasing "Reader Extensions" is the only way to enable Acrobat Pro to be able to do this.
    Can someone please clarify if I need to buy something to program these forms in Acrobat Pro to enable other people using Acrobat Reader to fill out these forms and save them with the form fields intact?
    If I do need to buy something, what is it exactly?  How do I find out clear, consise, specific information about buying it/the cost/the licensing?  I am a sole owner/employee of a graphic design firm and these forms are for my client, which is a locally-owned regional hospital.
    If this needs to move to the LiveCycle forum, fine, but I don't really know what that software is and since I'm only using Acrobat Pro (and the users, Acrobat Reader) I felt this was the appropriate place to post.
    Thanks for all of your responses!

  • This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe reader !?

    Hi there
    I use LiveCycle 8 and I design forms for a target audience using Acrobat Reader 7..
    My problem is whatever I put in a form, I get a really annoying message when opened in Acrobat reader 7
    This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe reader, Without a newer version, the form may be displayed but not work properly etc....
    This doesn't inspire confidence for the user.
    I get this message even if I open a new form, add a single textfield and save as Acrobat 7 PDF form.
    Is there a way around this ?
    Thanks
    Chris

    I am not too sure, I thought that saving as Acrobat 7 pdf,would do that. Is that not the case ? Are you referring to something else ?
    Thanks
    Chris

  • Preflight keeps saying  "Unable to save the PDF File after post processing"

    I'm at a loss how to overcome this. Spent almost a whole day, together with another person, trying to fix it with no success!
    I use Adobe pro CC on a PC
    I usually receive pdf files from this one client who edits and formats a book in Mac Pages. Up until a few days ago I had no problems converting the client's pdfs into pdf/x3, but the last three versions of the latest file have stumped me.
    Just to test, I first just tried to convert the file (33MB), unchanged, to pdf/x3 using the save as other option - message reads  "the document has been saved, however, it could not be converted according to the selected standard profile: convert to PDF/X. Please use preflight with the profile "Convert to PDF/X" in order to identify those properties of the document which prevent it from being compliant to this profile"
    if I then choose under Profiles - convert to PDF/X3 - it says no problems found, and appears to have saved the file. If I try to save again as a pdf/x3, just to make sure, it then tells me it's not pdf/x3 compliant
    OK - so then I go back to preflight - and choose the standards function - then pdf/x3, then continue with the default colour profile. About halfway through the conversion, at the point of saving the file,  I get the message "unable to save the pdf file after post processing"
    So far I've had no luck figuring out what this is.
    I then choose the option of "verify compliance of ppdf/x3" - message reads "pdf/x3 version key (GTS_PDFXVersion) missing", and "Trapped key not true or false"
    Help!! How can I be sure the file converted / or not?
    kim

    Yes I was/am aware of Preflight's inability to play nicely over cloud technologies in certain cases, especially wrt Standards technologies, this will be partially addressed in an upcoming version of Preflight without saying too much.  But the same thing could theoretically have happened if the file was also located on another local network client or server.  Leaving aside the argument that this may violate the Acrobat User Agreement - since purchasing the software, the user agrees to employ its functionality on a single host system and precludes host-client-based scenarios - this simply is not a supported use, meaning the user may not have expectations that it will work at all, if the applications requirements are not observed.  There do exist server-solutions for Preflight files within networks, but Acrobat and by extension Acrobat Preflight is not one of those solutions, and (still) belongs in the single host-based desktop environment.
    However most (99.9%) functions within Acrobat <-> acrobat.com file exchange are supported, file syncing across multiple devices will soon be supported, but Standards compliance is still admittedly a problem at this point.  Some testing has been done using 3rd party cloud technologies starting with enterprise-based solutions, such as Office 365, and this will continue to ramp up to include other 3rd party products.
    As for the second point, Preflight will usually change the PDF version to be complaint, are you saying that it was unable to do so in this case?  It seems that this error should have popped up during the normal Preflight conversion attempt.  Personally I think solving a workflow problem using the print path is a little bit of a heavy-handed approach, but if helped and the results are acceptable, then that is good.  Since that path is non-existent on a Mac, as one needs to Save as Adobe PDF from the Print dialog's PDF drop-down menu, I am assuming your workflow involved file creation on a Mac, then further processing on Windows using the PDF printer.  I am wondering if a simple resave/Save As... to PDF with overwrite on a Mac, or Preflighting the file using a PDF version compatibility profile before the PDF/X conversion would have helped.  Since there are such a multitude of methods that a PDF can be created, there are also many ways within Acrobat that a user can shape the file to be compatible with the expected workflow, ie, 'many ways to skin a cat', without being morbid.

  • Designer form prompts Reader X error:"This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader"

    I have a PDF form that was created using LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2. PDF version 1.6, so it's good for Reader 7.x and above.
    When someone using Adobe Reader X tries to open the form, they get this javascript error message:
    "This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader. Without a newer version, the form may be displayed, but it might not work properly. Some form elements might not be visible at all. In an internet connection is available, clicking OK will download and install the latest version."
    Is there anything I can do to the form that would make this error message go away? Is this a know issue with Adobe Reader X or Designer?

    Is there any code running on the form?
    Reader X has come out with additional security features that must be disabled to get any PDF form w/code to work.
    Open Adobe Reader X --> click on Edit --> Preferences.  Under the General Category, uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at startup" (last checkbox in the dialog box).  Click OK and try to open your form.

  • I have created a form but it won't let me 'save as PDF Form'

    Hi there,
    I have created a form but it won't let me 'save as PDF Form'.
    When I click the button a timer appears then disappears without creating the pdf form.
    I have created forms previously and not had this problem before.

    Are you using the FormsCentral desktop application or FormsCentral in a web browser?
    I would try the things recommended in this FAQ, the issue is different but the fix is likely similar:

    You can also try sharing your form with me to see if I can save PDF, that would tell us if it is a (very rare) issue with the form or on your system.  If you'd like, share with [email protected] and please include a reference to this Forum post so I know what we are looking for, instructions for sharing your form: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2462

  • Save & Send PDF Form

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to program a function in my PDF form that will automaticly save the PDF form in a folder and then sends the (just saved) PDF form attached in an e-mail.
    I've got the mail function working with my submit button. The only question is how can i get my PDF form to first save and then send the form?
    I've treid several saving scripts but couldn't get it working.
    Could you guys help me out?
    Kind Regards,
    Vincent
    Below my code:
    // Set up the recipients,subject, body, etc.
    var sTo = this.getField("Unit").value;
    var sBCC = "[email protected]";
    var sSubject = "Nice subject";
    var sBody = "Bla bla bla";
    // Set the error messge to display if it doesn't work, \r = carriage return
    var sErrorMsg = "Could not send email. Please make sure your email client is set up correctly.\r\r";
    sErrorMsg += "Otherwise, save this file and manually attach it to an email to: " + sTo +" [email protected]";
    // Email the entire document
    try {
        mailDoc({
        bUI: true,
        cTo: sTo,
        cBcc: sBCC,
        cSubject: sSubject,
        cMsg: sBody
    } catch(e) {
        app.alert(sErrorMsg, 1);

    To save with a script, you'll have to use the doc.saveAs method. There are a number of security related issues you'll have to deal with, as discussed here: http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/how-save-pdf-acrobat-javascript

  • PDF Form Requires a newer version of Adobe Reader

    New at this...Created my form in Live Cycle 8.0/Professional 8. Throughout company we are using Acrobat Reader 7.0 and are not at this time looking to upgrade. When our users open this form, get "This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader..." and prompts them to upgrade. Is there anyway I can get rid of this message...a way to make my form know that users will be opening in 7.0 and accept without error?
    Also, I'm not able to get the Submit to Email button to work...getting "This operation is not permitted"...how can I fix?
    Funny thing is I had been able to get the e-mail button to work at one time, but now, all of the sudden, it doesn't want to work...even on my machine which has Live Cycle/Professional 8 loaded?????
    Thanks!

    Geo,
    Thanks for the quick response. Tried and received: "This PDF document contains an Adobe XML form. Such files cannot be optimized.

  • How to save to PDF form View Responses tab without including blank fields?

    Is there a way to save in PDF form from View Responses withouth including blank fields? More specifically, my form has several fields that have action (Show/hide) depending on the values. Once form is submitted and I am reviewing it from View Response tab, I use "save as PDF" button to save/download my completed form, however when I open it, it shows blank fields as well. Is there a way to somehow specify not to include blanks. If there is no way it would be a nice feature to have. Please let me know.

    No, the PDF is always going to show all fields, the "Show/Hide" does not affect the PDF we generate.
    I will soon post a Form for users to submit feature requests, keep your eyes out for an announcement in the forums for it and you can submit this request.
    Thanks,
    Josh

    I am getting messages that I can't download and read .pdf files since I have the wrong Adobe reader. I know about their security disasters of course, but I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe web site and I have other ,pdf file readers as well, and for some reason they won't work either. I have 5 computers running top end processors and RAM. By this I mean I have one, this one which I am using that has an AMD Phenom Black 3.2 Quad-core with 8 GBs of Corsair top DDR2 RAM, my other two AMD have either an Athlon II triple core with 4 GBs of DDR2 Corsair RAM, one with the Phenom X4 965 3.4 GHz Quad-core with 8 GBs of their best DDR2 RAM, and two Intels with the i7 920 Processors using the triple channel 1366 socket processors and one with 8 GBs of low latency DDR3 RAM and the other with 4 GBs of the same RAM. I am getting the message on this one, which has a fresh install of XP Pro X64 operating system, as do the other 4 as well. I have run Avast Business Pro Anti-virus on this one, which I am getting the message on with a single result which I deleted, and also both Spybot Search and Destroy, which came back clean as well as Malwarebytes Antimalware, which got a lot of tracing cookies now removed, and SuperAntiSpware which also found a few cookies also now deleted. Can you tell me what I need to do to get these files to show as .pdf files rather than as a clean blank page. One other issue is that I wish to know how to turn off my downloads so they are saved and Mozilla will give me the option of returning them instead of me losing them all together as it does now. Thanks for your assistance. If there is another Adobe reader I should download and install, could you provide me with the link to it? I appreciate your assistance here
    == When I download and try to read a .pdf file and when I am asked to turn off all Firefox files and if I do, I lose them since I need to know how to save them without rebooting my computer.

    Brilliant! Problem solved! Thanks so much.
