  • How to create user editable Crystal Report with dynamic dataset

    What I would like to achieve:
    A program loads a report in runtime updates list of database fields (possibly includes sample data), open report in "Crystal Reports 2011" (or 2008) where user customizes report and saves it. Later on the program loads the report, fills actualized data and displays it in .net report viewer.
    What I do:
    CrReport = New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
    CrReport.Load(TemplateFilename)
    Dim Results As DataTable
    DataTable is filled from a database
    CrReport.SetDataSource(mResults)
    CrReport.SaveAs(NewReportPath, True)
    The NewReportPath is opened in the default program.
    What are the problems
    The report is open in preview mode (not in design).
    When the field is added to the report the designer asks for XML datasource on preview.

    The short answer is that it is not possible. I broke the question to other two: How to save a report that it opens without preview? and How to create user editable Crystal Report with dynamic dataset, where it is possible to find details. Key answer is Re: How to create an editable previewable report?

  • Password is lost when I save the Crystal Report

    We use Crystal Reports v. 11.5.3.417, and our users access the crystal Reports using InfoView (Web Portal)
    We store the username and password inside the different Repor so the end-users of these reports don't have to know our database passwords in order to run the reports. (Oracle DB)
    We have 2 problems with our Crystal Reports
    1) Every time I change and the Save a report, the Password is lost, and I have to remember to go into the "Manage Object" and Process->Database and enter it again. It's really annoying to have to remember this every time we change a report.. Is there an option somewhere to avoid this?
    2) The password and username are occationly failing. When the users (accessing Crystal Reports through the Web Portal / Infoview) get an error message "Incorrect logon parameters..." The funny thing (actually not that funny) is that if I try to open the report like 10-15 times, just by clicking on the Crystal Report in the Infoview, it usually starts to work again. Some times after 5 clickes, and other times after 10-15 clicks. Its just not logical. Also when it starts working in my web-browser, it also start to work on our users browser as well.
    Every week I have to tell a couple of users to try like 10-15 times, but its not that funny to say this to a user.

    Hi   Roy Ingar Hansen,
    If  you think not to provide the password for your End user then we can  do that go into the "Manage Object" and Process->Database  enter the password  and Enable the option in :
    When viewing report:
    Use same database logon as when report is run.
    For the first time you need to enter the logon credentials and enable the option and click on update.
    It wont prompt for the password and it will not show password to your user's.
    If you have problems with Original database logon , then try with Custom database logon and update the option.
    Try with this...

  • How to stop printing the crystal report with an alert message

    I am having a field called "APPROVAL" in my stored procedure with which I prepared the CR. I want that if the value in the filed is 'A' then only the crystal report should print else it should prompt with an alert message.

    Hi Sreejith,
    Check this helps you:
    Create an alert from "Report  -> Alerts -> Create or Modify Alerts" with below steps:
    1. Provide name of the alert (say Alert1)
    2. Click on X+2 in front of "Message" field and write the Alert message you want to display.
    3. Click on Condition button and write the condition If not({APPROVAL}='A') then true;
    The above Alert will prompt with configured alert message when {APPROVAL} field is not having value of 'A'
    Now, in a formula, write below content and display it where you want to display the APPROVAL field value:
    If {APPROVAL} = 'A' then
              {APPROVAL}
    This formula content will be blank if the value of {APPROVAL} is not 'A'
    Thanks,

    Â Hi Senthil
    The only way for you to get CR4E is to download it from our web site.
    I just made a try, just to check if our web site was having any troubles today, and it worked fine, so I assume you might be experiencing some troubles on your side with your internet connexion.
    I have successfully downloaded the All-In-One zip file of CR4E, that you can find there :

    I suggest you give it some more tries.
    Thank you for using CR4E.

  • Unable to save the webi report results in CSV file in XIR2 environment

    Hi Team,
    We have one WebI report in BOXIR2 version and it fetching nearly 76+ records in the report. The report is running fine without any issues and when i am trying to export the results into CSV file we are getting the error msg (Maximum Binary file size exceeded WIS30271). The file size is more than 80MB and hence it throwing this error. I have checked the Maximun Binary File size that is set in CMC and it is set to 80MB.
    When i ran the same query in the database and exporting the results in to csv file the file size is under 80MB. I would like to know the reason why there is a difference in the file size when running the query manually in database and exporting in to csv file and to export the results set in to csv through business objects.

    Below are the possible causes to get this error message:
    1] When a large Web Intelligence report is exported to CSV format, we get error: Max Binary file size limit exceeded. The document is too large to be processed by the server. Error WIS 30271
    Cause
    This error message appears because BusinessObjects Enterprise allows documents to be saved with the limit specified for Web Intelligence Report server settings in the Central Management Console(CMC).
    To resolve the error follow the below steps:
    - Login to Central Management Console (CMC) using BusinessObjects Enterprise "Administrator".
    - Navigate to "Home >> Servers".
    - Click on "Web Intelligence Report Server" to open its properties.
    - Increase the "Maximum Binary File Size"(Default value=50 MBytes; Maximum value = 65535 MBytes).
    - Click on "Apply" and then on "Update".
    - Allow the Web Intelligence server to restart.
    2] In Web Intelligence, when attempting to save a report to Excel or Portable Document Format  (PDF), the following error message appears:
    "Max binary file size limit exceeded. The document is too large to be processed by the server. Contact your database administrator. (Error: WIS 30271)".
    Cause:
    This error message appears because Business Objects Enterprise allows documents to be saved up to the limit set for Web Intelligence Report Server in the Central Management Console (CMC).  The default file size limit is 50 megabytes for binary file types like PDF and Excel.
    To resolve this error message, you will need to increase the Max Binary file size value.
    1.      Open the CMC.
    2.      Browse to Servers
    3.      Click on your Web Intelligence Report Server.
    4.      On the Properties page, increase the Maximum Binary File Size.
    5.      Apply the setting and allow the Web Intelligence Report Server to restart.
    Increasing these values too high could impact Web Intelligence performance when users attempt to save excessively large files.
    Hope this helps.

  • I'm getting the below issue when I try to deploy a report with Dynamic parameters, when I deploy it with static parameters I'm not getting this issue.

    I’m getting the below issue when I try to deploy a crystal report with Dynamic parameters in BI Launch Pad, when I deploy the same report with static parameters I can deploy and run it. I have Restarted the BI server, still the issue exitno use. kindly help me on this issue.
    “This error occurred: Adding Crystal Report "CrystalReport1.rpt" failed. The server with kind rptappserver returned an error result. Failed to copy the report file to the report object. Refreshing the report object properties might have failed. Failed to read data from report file CrystalReport1. Reason: Failed to read parameter object”.

    BO does not run dynamic params through the report as would happen without BusinessObjects (BO) or Crystal Reports Server (CRS).  When you publish a report with dynamic parameters to BO/CRS, the prompt is published to the repository so that it can be accessed through the Business View Manager (which can be installed as part of the client tools).  In order for this to work a couple of things need to happen:
    1.  You need to be sure that you check the "Update Repository" box on the Save As screen the first time you publish the report.
    2.  Your BO/CRS user needs to have "view" access to the Crystal2013ReportApplicationServer in the Servers section in the CMC - in fact, the Everyone group should be given view access to the server in order for dynamic prompts to work correctly.
    3.  In the Business View Manager, the Administrator user needs to give your user, or, even better, a Crystal Developers group full control access to the "Dynamic Cascading Prompts" folder.
    Best practice for dynamic prompts in a BO/CRS environment is to actually create the prompts in the Business View Manager.  This will allow you to create a single data connection that can be reused and also create lists of values such that the same list or prompt can be reused by multiple reports.  If you just create the prompts in Crystal, you will end up with multiple data connections to the same database, the prompts will use the whole query for the reports to get the dynamic values instead of just a focused query to the lookup table that contains the values, and there ends up being lots of duplication and chaos.

  • Failed to Load database information - Crystal report with XML as datasource

    Hello Friends:
    I am getting the attached error when i try to load the Crystal Report with XML as data source.
    I have designed the crystal report with the sample XML provided with XSD schema (PFA I have attached the XML and XSD). It is working as expected on design time. But it is failing when I load it from C# code.
    Note: I have referred the following DLLs of version 13.0.2000.0 in my sample application.
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Design.dll
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll
    Please let me know what should be done in order to resolve this.
    Thank you!

    All I know is that you are using 'SAP Crystal Reports, Developer Version for Visual Studio .NET". No idea what service pack or what version of .NET...
    So. make sure you are on SP 9:
    SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio: Updates & Runtime Downloads
    Search for KBA 1525432 (search box is in top right corner) and follow the instructions there.
    Remove your reference to CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Design.dll
    Add the following references:
    CrystalDecisions.Shared
    CrystalDecisions.ReportSource
    CrystalDecisions.Web (if web app)
    CrystalDecisions.Windows (if win app)
    I'd also recommend commenting out the export code for now; one step at a time. Get it to work in the viewer, then move on... No Big Bangs

  • How to create a report with data using the Crystal Reports for Java SDK

    Hi,
    How do I create a report with data that can be displayed via the Crystal Report for Java SDK and the Viewers API?
    I am writing my own report designer, and would like to use the Crystal Runtime Engine to display my report in DHTML, PDF, and Excel formats.  I can create my own report through the following code snippet:
    ReportClientDocument boReportClientDocument = new ReportClientDocument();
    boReportClientDocument.newDocument();
    However, I cannot find a way to add data elements to the report without specifying an RPT file.  Is this possible?  I seems like it is since the Eclipse Plug In allows you to specify your database parameters when creating an RPT file.
    is there a way to do this through these packages?
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.data
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.definition
    Am I forced to create a RPT file for the different table and column structures I have?
    Thank you in advance for any insights.

  • Unable to view images in the crystal reports on a jsp

    Hi folks,
    I am unable to view any image (not even the ones like businessobjects logo) in the crystal reports fetched from the CMS. I am able to fetch the report properly. But I don;t get to see the images in the reports.
    If anyone of you know how to fix it. Kindly post it. It's urgent.
    PS: It would be great if you could kind of share a check list of things that need to be taken care of while viewing a crystal report with images.

    Hi Suresh,
    Please check that you have crystalreportviewers11 (for version XI) or crystalreportviewers115 ( for version XI R2) folder in your BO installation and your web.xml has correct reference to it. You can copy this folder over in your web application and
    Add an entry in web.xml as follows ( if it doesn't exist)
    <context-param>
      <param-name>crystal_image_uri</param-name>
      <param-value>/<your application name>/crystalreportviewers115</param-value>
    </context-param>
    crystalreportviewers11\115 have images folder which contain all the images for Logo and toolbar. Check the images folder in viewers and make sure that they exist.

  • Crystal Report Viewer Credential Prompt for Report with Dynamic Parameters

    The .NET Crystal Report Viewer is prompting for database credentials when launching a report containing dynamic parameters. This only occurs for reports created with SAP Crystal Reports 2011 designer. Reports created with Crystal Reports XI designer (where dynamic parameters were first introduced) work correctly.
    The credential prompt window contains the following fields:
    - Server Name: <server name> (disabled)
    - Database Name: <database name> (disabled)
    - User Name: <empty> (enabled)
    - Password: <empty> (enabled)
    - Use Single Signon Key: false (disabled)
    The values in the prompt window which are disabled are the database connection values used during the design of the report in the SAP Crystal Reports 2011 designer.
    Expected Result:
    - No prompt for database credentials.
    - Values read from the database should be populated in a drop down for the dynamic parameters.
    Environment:
    - Visual Studio 2010 (C#)
    - Windows 7 Enterprise
    - SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4
    - SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio 2010
    - SAP Crystal Reports 2011
    The database connection is being set to use a DSN. It must be a DSN as the calling application is only aware of the DSN/Username/Password values. These values are being passed to the Crystal Report Viewer contained in a Windows form.
    The database connection for the report is being set as follows:
    foreach (InternalConnectionInfo internalConnectionInfo in this.report.DataSourceConnections)
        // Must set the UseDSNProperties flag to True before setting the database connection otherwise the connection does not work
        if (internalConnectionInfo.LogonProperties.ContainsKey("UseDSNProperties"))
            internalConnectionInfo.LogonProperties.Set("UseDSNProperties", true);
        // Supposed to set the database connection for all objects in the report (ie. main report, tables, sub reports)
        internalConnectionInfo.SetConnection(this.DSN, string.Empty, this.LoginName, this.Password);
    The SetConnection method's signature is as follows:
       SetConnection(string server, string database, string name, string password)
    As you can see from the code snippet above I am setting the DSN name as the server parameter, blank for the database parameter (a database connection using DSN should only require DSN name/Username/Password) and the database username and password respectively.
    Is this a SAP bug?
    Is this the correct way of setting the database connection to use a DSN?
    Is there some other properties that need to be set somewhere else in the report through code?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the pointer to the database connection code generator. After taking a look at the output from the tool I was able to finally get the dynamic parameters to load and populate properly without prompting for credentials. I needed to tweak the outputted code a bit to match my requirements of using a DSN only connection.
    Instead of updating the database connection properties contained within the Report.Database.Tables collection from the CrystalReports.Engine namespace, I changed it to replace the database connection properties in the Report.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.Database.Tables collection from the CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel namespace. For one reason or another, using the RAS namespace solved the problem.
    Below is the updated code with the change made:
    using RAPTable = CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.Table;
    foreach (InternalConnectionInfo internalConnectionInfo in this.report.DataSourceConnections)
        // Must set the UseDSNProperties flag to True before setting the database connection
        if (internalConnectionInfo.LogonProperties.ContainsKey("UseDSNProperties"))
            internalConnectionInfo.LogonProperties.Set("UseDSNProperties", true);
        // Sets the database connection for all objects in the report (ie. main report, tables, sub reports)
        internalConnectionInfo.SetConnection(this.DSN, string.Empty, this.LoginName, this.Password);
    // The attributes for the QE_LogonProperties which is part of the main property bag
    PropertyBag innerPropertyBag = new PropertyBag();
    innerPropertyBag.Add("DSN", this.DSN);
    innerPropertyBag.Add("UserID", this.LoginName);
    innerPropertyBag.Add("Password", this.Password);
    innerPropertyBag.Add("UseDSNProperties", "true");
    // The attributes collection of the tables ConnectionInfo object
    PropertyBag mainPropertyBag = new PropertyBag();
    mainPropertyBag.Add("Database DLL", "crdb_ado.dll");
    mainPropertyBag.Add("QE_DatabaseType", "OLE DB (ADO)");
    mainPropertyBag.Add("QE_LogonProperties", innerPropertyBag);
    // Pass the database properties to a connection info object
    ConnectionInfo connectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
    connectionInfo.Attributes = mainPropertyBag;
    connectionInfo.Kind = CrConnectionInfoKindEnum.crConnectionInfoKindCRQE;
    connectionInfo.UserName = this.LoginName;
    connectionInfo.Password = this.Password;
    // Replace the database connection properties of each table in the report
    foreach (RAPTable oldTable in this.report.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.Database.Tables)
        RAPTable table = new RAPTable();
        table.ConnectionInfo = connectionInfo;
        table.Name = oldTable.Name;
        table.QualifiedName = oldTable.QualifiedName;
        table.Alias = oldTable.Alias;
        this.report.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.SetTableLocation(oldTable, table);
    this.report.VerifyDatabase();
    Thanks again Ludek for the help.

  • How to set printersettings for the crystal report viewer in SAP BI dynamically

    Hello
    I have set the URL method for my crystal report and with parameter passing as shown below, it was displaying the crystal report viewer by connecting to the SAP BI 4.0 server with this method.
    http://cr:port/businessobjects/enterprise115/desktoplaunch/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sDocName=CRLabelParam&sType=rpt&lsSnPrinted=0&lsSsTestProjectNr=1
    This URL will be called from Web application by different users, i would like to set the printer settings differently for different users for this crystal report viewer how shall i need to set the printer options?
    shall i need to set the printer settings programatically for each user. Please advise me how do i need to proceed.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rajeswari.

    There are no BI / CR APIs that would do this for you. The way I see it, you'll have to have your own print button and populate it with the correct printer information for each user as they request the report.
