Unable to scan on mac X.7

Hello.
I'm using the software downloaded through Apple as instructed here and still every time I try to scan it does not work.
Any ideas on what else I can try?
The printer option works fine btw.

Hello,
Try downloading the HP Easy Wireless Printing Set-up App. You can find this in the App store. Following the steps in this app will download all the necessary drivers for printing and scanning for your HP printer.
I work on behalf of HP, but my opinions are my own.

Anyone available to help me be able to scan to my Mac desktop computer?  I am trying to get my Officejet 6700 to scan directly so that I don't have to use a memory device each time. Thanks.

Hello Isabelle11, and thanks for the response!
First thing I would recommend would be downloading and running this Critical Update to fix Scan to Computer issue on Mac OS X v10.7.
I would recommend following the steps in the following document on Mac OS X v10.7 Lion: An 'HP Utility quit unexpectedly' Error Message Displays on the Computer.
I would also suggest utilizing this document on Mac OS X: Scanning Software Does Not Open or Stops Responding.
For further information on scanning using Mac OS X 10.7, I would refer to this document on How to Scan: OS X v10.7.
Please let me know how the troubleshooting using all the above documents go!

  • Restoring .dmg image from external to Mac HD in Disk Utility: "Unable to scan image (Input/output error)"

    Hi guys,
So I've got a problem with restoring the image backup I did (using Disk Utility) of my 500GB HD on my MBP which was acting weird or maybe even crashed a few months ago. After creating the backup image and putting it on my external device, I installed Mavericks back to see if everything was alright (mainly the HD) and everything seems okay.
I did try restoring the backup image through disk utility before installing mavericks (thus erasing everything again on the HD) AND after. But nothing..
The whole process starts fine and then it starts scanning the image when after maybe a good 10-15min in I get a message that says that it was unable to scan the image. I tried verifying the disk(s), everything came out "OK". Also tried scanning it through Images > Scan image for Restore... with the same results.
While searching I've seen people getting messages like "Unable to scan filename.dmg (Invalid argument)" and "Unable to scan filename.dmg
(Internal error)" but none have (Input/output error)
    The screen grab is below.
I also came across something about using terminal/commands but I'm not that savvy with it, especially considering that those there had issues with either mounting or trouble finding the image.
I've also tried moving the backup image to a different external device 2TB and also the desktop because I read it may have to do with the format of the externals or maybe free space. But THEN I would get a message saying
"The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "Mac HD Backup.dmg" can't be read or written. Error code -36"
Fyi ALL my externals are HFS+/Journaled and the backup image format was compressed.
I REALLY don't know what to do next. Was it the wrong move to create a dmg image? Have I lost everything? Is there still a way out?
    If anyone can help, THANKS!
    2012 MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.9.3)

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • HP Photosmart Premium won't scan to Mac

Since downloading Yosemite on my Mac I can't scan photos from the touch screen on my HP Photosmart Premium C310. I also am unable to scan from Preview or from Image Capture. If I try to scan by touching the scan icon on the printer, I get the following error message: "Scan problem: Try starting scan from computer. Refer to documentation for details."
I don't need any new updates for the printer or Mac (I checked). I have a solid network connection as well. I noticed that my Mac is no longer under Networked Computers on the printer but am not sure if that is related to the scanning problem?
I have also reinstalled HP Software.
    I am able to scan from System Preferences-->Printers & Scanners-->Scan-->Open Scan-->

    Hi,
The solution provided for 10.10 is available via Apple Software Update, using any incompatible HP software which was not designed for your operating system may prevent the correct update from being installed and.
Scanning from the front panel is not supported with the provided solution but only from teh software on yoru Mac:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Photosmart-Premium-e-All-in-One-Printer---C310a/4023238/model...
I suggest removing any incomatible HP software by going toapplications > Hewlett-Packard and following the HP Uninstaller.
Once the unisntall completes go to System Preferences > Printers and Scanners and click the plus sign.
Select your printer and select teh printer model instead the default AirPrint option within the Use drop Down menu, then you should be able to scan via Image Capture, Preview or from Printers & Scanners.

  • Unable to scan to HP 8600 after Mavericks update

I am unable to scan to my HP 8600 Officejet Pro since updating to Mavericks 10.9.4. It keeps telling me that it can't open a session. I have reset the printing system and downloaded and installed the printer drivers but still get the same response. I have tried using the USB connection and wireless.
Before updating the Mavericks software, the Mac and the printer communicated with no problems. The printer works fine but cannot get the scanner to respond at all. After searching the web, all I can find is that HP are responsible for correcting the glitch but can't get a response from either HP nor Apple and have now become totally frustrated with the whole thing.

I have the same problem. I was trying to upgrade my 3G iPhone to 4.1 and ran into problems. Then I did a right-click "Restore on my iPhone in iTunes and halfway in it just says "cannot restore this iPhone" or something to that effect and then a message pops up asking if you want to send the info to Apple and that's it!
    Need help too!

  • Disk Utility: after creating the .DMG (compressed image) When "scan image for restore" finishes it displays "unable to scan (internal error)". Since the process was scanning for about 1 hr is this a fake warning?

External 500GB drive is partitioned with 400GB for Mac OS extended (journalling) and 2nd partition formatted today as "ExFAT".
Yesterday I tried to create a disk image of my HD to no avail - this was compressed on a FAT partition. I got a warning after running the <scan image for restore> saying "unable to scan (internal error)"
I rang Apple support who suggested formatting a partition as MAC OS extended (journalling) and choose to save the image as "read/write'. The image process stopped writing at about 200GB and then the file size jumped to 499GB (ie the size of the HD). But the process did nothing for about an hour so I foce quit disk utility (as suggested by apple support)
My current attempt was to format the external drive again; this time with a 400GB Mac OS extended (journal) format; plus a 100GB ExFAT format partition. The new image was created after about 2.5hrs with a compressed size of 149GB. However, after running the "scan image for restore" facility I got the warning message "unable to scan filename " (internal error). The process was scanning the image file according to the progress bar - this took about hour - thus the warning is a puzzle.
If anyone can say more about this error I would really appreciate knowing tips for using disk utility. The screen grab is below.
"unable to scan filename " (internal error)
    thanks

Thanks for a quick reply <baltwo>. You’ve answered that it is not a fake message!
fyi: I thought that I would use my external Buffalo for two purposes; namely the smaller ExFAT partition for copying stuff to my win7 netbook. The larger partition was to be used as my imac image of SL. So this was my first attempt at using disk utility - the idea being to hold an image backup at another location. Plus I now have the Lion thumbdrive ready to upgrade from SL and so being cautious wanted to have a SL image backup
Anyway I followed the apple instructions using my mac 10.6.3 install DVD but it would appear from other discussions that <unable to scan (internal error)> is not unique to me.
I’ll get back to apple telephone support for further advice.
I would though be grateful for an “idiots’ guide to making an image backup of my internal HD that runs SL 10.6.8
eg should I have just one partition on the external USB drive? format it as Mac OS extended? create the image as compressed or read/write? Basically I’ll do whatever will work!!
    thanks again

    Hi,
Click the Apple menu and select Software Update.
Click the top Store menu and select Reload Page, then install any available HP update.
If there is no such available reboot your Mac and try checking for updates again, then look for any option to scan under Printers & Scanners.
If the same persists install the following package, then try scanning again:

  • Unable to scan (internal error)

    Hi Apple Have a question,
I am trying to create a bootable partition on my external firewire Hard Drive for Leopard OS.
First I created .dmg file : "Mas OS X DVD.dmg"
2nd > after creating the dmg file - I ran "Scan image restore" on the DMG file
3rd > after running completing both steps above the system generates this error message:
"Unable to scan "Mac OS X install Dvd.dmg" (internal error).
According to my research, before installing Leopard on to an external hard drive as a bootable partition, the dmg file must be scanned before completing the process.
However, the scan is not working. Can someone shed some light on how I can
    get this off the ground.
    Again:
The object is to create a bootable partition of leopard on to my external hard drive for
Technical maintenance support of my computers.
Please send me your solution or thoughts

Sorry, no Apple here, only other users. That said, I have no idea of what you're trying to do. If you want to make a bootable partition, all you have to do is install the software onto the partition. Alternatively, you can put a bootable backup/clone of your current boot volume onto it using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!. BTW, the error indicates that the .dmg file you created is corrupt.

  • I am unable to scan on my Epson Artisan 730 since downloading yosemite

Since downloading Yosemite on my Mac Book Pro I am unable to scan on my Epson Artisan 730 printer.  The printing function still works.

Did you add the printer using the AirPrint driver? If so, add it again using the Epson driver (by selecting the Epson driver in the "Use" menu in AddPrinter). If you don't have the Epson drivers installed, you can download them here:

Hello @LeeBee2 , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having scan issues.  I would like to help!
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Officejet 4620 series Full Feature Software and Drivers.

  • Brother all in one unable to scan

I have a new Macbook Pro running 10.8.1 and a 3 year old Brother MFC 7840W. I can print wirelessly without problems, but I am now unable to scan (I was able to previously with my older Mac running 10.7 using Preview). The Mac recognizes the scanner and proceeds to scan the document, but the scanned image is not saved to the desktop (where I told it to save), or anywhere else.
I've tried using Preview, then Image Capture to scan, and tried downloading the most recent drivers from Brother's website, to no avail.
    Any thoughts?

Yes kieveb but have you tried using  the "Image Capture" application that came with your computer?
I have an Epson all-in-one but the "Image Capture" application does a better job on scanning.
Make sure your AIO is turned on, then fire up the "Image Capture" application. It should be able to "see" your scanner.
Also make sure that you have set Image Capture to save your scanned images to somewhere where you can see them (I use the Desktop)
    Then take it from there.
