Unable to see imported mailboxes in Mail

Hi all.
I am in the process of rebuilding my macbook after a backup corrupted my hard drive .
The nice data recovery people were able to find some of my Mail (in .mbox format). With labels like: Mail-00001.mbox etc.
I have tried importing the mailboxes into my forlorn-looking Mail client but they just don't appear in my list of boxes in the left-hand screen.
I have tried manually creating a Mailbox in Library>Mail>Mailboxes, and tried placing the .mbox files directly into this folder. This creates a new mailbox On My Mac in Mail but there is nothing in the mailbox. I have tried the 'Rebuild' option and re-booting etc.
Is there something I haven't tried? I've lost All of my documents, these 45 .mbox files represent everything I now own prior to 1 Oct 2008 (the dreaded 'crash' for me). Can anyone suggest something else please?!

Hi Manish,
you need to create three things:
1. An abstract synchronous interface with the same message types as the BAPI
2. An abstract asynchronous interface with the message type of the BAPI request
3. An abstract asynchronous interface with the message type of the BAPI response
From 2 and 3 you derive Container elements and use it for request and response of the synchronous interface.

  • Imported Mailboxes from Mail, but Emails Didn't Import

I am upgrading from a Mac with OS X 10.3.9 to a faster Mac with OS X 10.4.8. In doing so, I'm trying to get my Mail emails from one computer to another. I went to LIBRARY / MAIL / MAILBOXES on the old computer and copied that folder into the same spot on the new computer. Then, in Mail, I:
    • selected FILE / IMPORT MAILBOXES
    • checked "Mail for Mac OS X"
    • found the appropriate mailboxes in LIBRARY / MAIL / MAILBOXES
    • had them all checked to import, and
    • seleced "Choose"
This successfully imported all of the mailboxes. Unfortunately, it didn't import any of the emails. I saw on another posting that a bug in Mail causes the LIBRARY / MAIL / MAILBOXES folder to sometimes be a file rather than a folder, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. Any thoughts about how to get all of my emails imported?
    Thanks!
    G4 Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Not sure what the problem is, but you did it wrong. You shouldn’t have moved the mailboxes to be imported into ~/Library/Mail/. Why did you do that? Actually, you shouldn’t have tinkered with the contents of ~/Library/Mail/ at all, amongst other reasons because ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/ is precisely where Mail would create the mailboxes resulting from the import.
Quit Mail, move the Mailboxes folder out of ~/Library/Mail/ (e.g. to the Desktop), and start over, i.e. import the Mailboxes folder that’s now on the Desktop and post back with your observations -- you may want to get rid first of any unnecessary folders that Mail may have created there.

  • In Mail I'm unable to see the mailboxes at the top of the mailbox list. I can see trash but not inbox. What do I need to do to see the entire list of mailboxes?

I cannot see all of my mailboxes in my mailbox list.

I'm guessing you are seeing the Trash in the Favorites bar.
Select Show Mail box list. If you don't see the Mailboxes icon, under View in the Menu bar select Show Mail Box List. (wording might be different in Mountain Lion).
If you still have problems, Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar. Log into Guest User. Open Mail, do you see the Mailboxes icon now?

  • Can't import mailboxes into Mail

I am trying to import my mailboxes into Mail from my time machine backup but it doesn't work. The backup is from 10.5 and I am now on 10.7. I can't access the old computer I only have time machine. I would also like to import my Address Book contacts. Any tips? Thanks

Restore the mailboxes to a different location, such as the Desktop, and import them into Mail (File > Import Mailboxes...) I haven't tried this myself and I don't know for sure that it will work.

Has anyone had trouble importing a mailbox in Mail? I try to do the process, but with some boxes to import does not happen. The message is that everything worked out, but they do not enter the Imported folder.
    Thank you.

  • Importing mailboxes into Mail from Entourage only partially works.

I am trying to import all my Entourage mailboxes into Mail.
[The background of this is that I want to upgrade to Lion, but my version of Office won't work in Lion and I don't want to pay for a new version, so I'm going to abandon Entourage and use Mail].
The process appears to work properly; there is no error message and Mail tells me that the mailboxes have been imported into a folder called Import.
However when I look at the Mail mailbozes, all teh messages are not there. The import has worked up to a point and then just stopped. By this I mean all the actual mailboxes (and sub mailboxes) are in place, tbut only the first 50% or so of the messages are there. (Admitedly, there are a large number of mesages in my mailboxes and the import has worked through them logically by alpahbetical order of mailboxes.)
I've also tried dragging the missing message across manually, but this doesn't work.
    Any ideas?

Well there are some suggested solutions on here if you search for them. Hoever, I eventually worked around it by just importing a section of my old email at a time. A bit tedious, but it worked.

  • Mail import only imports mailboxes, no mail.

I upgraded to Tiger from Panther (rather messily since my DVD drive was bad). When I finally finished the upgrade, I had to manually import the mail. I still had my ~/library/mail files backed up in the Previous Systems folder that was created when i first attempted the upgrade. However, when I perform the import from that folder, it brings in the mailboxes but no actual mail. Nothing. Did I delete something that I needed? How do I get this to work?

Can you create custom “On My Mac” mailboxes in Mail?
Mail has a bug that causes ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes to sometimes be a file instead of a folder, and that prevents Mail from creating any mailboxes there, which in turn prevents it from being able to import anything.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, proceed as follows:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/.
    3. Locate Mailboxes. If it’s a file instead of a folder, move it to the Trash. That should fix the problem.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • How do I import mailboxes into Mail v.3.5 from v.2.1.3?

Every time I try to import even a single mailbox from my PowerBook G4 (OS X 10.4) into my iMac (OS X 10.5) using the 'mbox files' setting the new version of Mail seizes up. I'm following the onscreen instructions for mbox and accessing the mailbox files in the G4 using file sharing, but when I choose either an mbox file or even an individual message the wheel starts turning "Searching for data" on and on, and clicking on the Mail icon in the dock shows that the application is "not responding".
    What am I doing wrong?

Hello and welcome to the Discussions.
Importing a xxxx.mbox folder is a two step process. First you navigate only as far as an ordinary folder, and then click Choose. Then a list of available xxxx.mbox folder within that ordinary folder (which can be the original Mailboxes folder or copy) will be made available, and then you select and click the now offered Import button. When you import it, it will now be an On My Mac maibox, and then you will Move all the messages to your online Inbox.

  • Iphone ios5, cannot see "all mailboxes" in mail app...?

i only see one mail message..  the top tab just says MAILBOXES.. there is no way to go back to ALL MAILBOXES, or see other messages..
at the bottom there are icons to RELOAD,  DOWNLOAD MESSAGE TO A FOLDER, FILE, REPLY or WRITE NEW MESSAGE...

You can create Calendar events from within Mail, and you can be reminded of those events. Search Mail's built-in help for the term "calendar."

  • Unable to see the manager approval mail

    Hi Folks,
After once the manager approves/Send travel request back for corrections from the MSS UWL,where can an employee see the manager responce from the ESS side along with the managers description that was mentioned in his responce.
    Regards
    Siva

    Hi Siva,
In this scenario, a mail will be triggered to the employee, which contains the correction remarks entered by Manager.
This may also be displayed as a task in the Employee Work List.
You can also view the triggered mail from SOST transaction.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Unable to see image in Yahoo mail from iphone, show images is turned on. IE8 works.

I am able to see the image when I reply to the email, but not in the original email. When I look at the original email in IE8 I am able to see the image. I am using Yahoo Email Beta in both browsers.
    Thank you.
    Tom

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
    * Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
    * Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
    * Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
    * Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
    * Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
    * If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

  • Importing mailboxes from Tiger (Mail v. 2.1.3) to Panther (Mail v. 1.3.11)?

Is it possible to import mailboxes into Mail v. 1.3.11 running under Panther (10.3.9) that were originally created and stored in Mail v. 2.1.3 under Tiger (OSX 10.4)?
I have a dual boot Mac with Tiger and Panther running on separate drives; after moving over to Tiger I'm finding some incompatibilities with older software and want to move back to Panther permanently on this machine, hence I need to get all my latest mail folders back into the older version of Mail.
I've been sucessful in importing them, but they appeear as empty, and won't refresh even if I rebuild them.
Is there a way to do this?

    Hi Jona,
Not sure if this is your situation but is it possible that it is a problem with Tiger's emlx format and Panther's mbox format? I'm confused though because you say that you were able to import them but they are just "empty" files.
See if emlx to mbox Converter - 1.0.3 can help. I have not used Tiger (I use Panther 10.3.9) so I am not sure that is your problem but worth looking at.
Just be careful to not delete anything before testing to make sure they have imported correctly!
If not a problem with format then perhaps with indexing.
    good luck,
    LS

  • Imported mailboxes empty

I have tried to import my mailboxes from one computer (all macs running mail) to another, but for one account this was completely unsuccessful. The folders all appear, but are all empty. Is it because I am trying to import mail from 2.0 to 1.3? In another account, all mailboxes were successfully imported except the inbox. In this case, I was restoring after replacing the hard drive, so I was importing into the same version of Mail.

There is no straightforward way to transfer your mail from Mail 2.x to Mail 1.x. The mailbox format used by Mail changed drastically in Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). Mail 2.x knows about the old format and can import or convert in place mailboxes created by Mail 1.x, but Mail 1.x obviously knows nothing about the new format used by Mail 2.x.
Although .mbox packages appear to be files in Mac OS X 10.3, they’re actually folders just like in Mac OS X 10.4. If you’re currently running Mac OS X 10.3, ctrl-click on an .mbox package and choose Show Package Contents from the contextual menu to see the files it contains.
For each mailbox, Mail 1.x stores all the messages in a single file in standard mbox format (the mbox file within the .mbox folder/package), whereas Mail 2.x stores messages in individual .emlx files within a Messages folder that Mail 1.x knows nothing about.
The only way to transfer Mail 2.x mailboxes to Mail 1.x is by first exporting or converting them to a (standard mbox) format that Mail 1.x understands, then importing them in Mail 1.x.
Selected messages can be exported to standard mbox format by doing File > Save As in Mail and choosing Raw Message Source from the Format popup menu. Standard mbox files can be imported into most mail clients. In particular, they can be imported back into Mail doing File > Import Mailboxes and choosing Other / Standard mbox as the data format.
Andreas Amann’s Mail Scripts has an Archive Messages script that you may find useful for this.
Alternatively, you may use emlx to mbox Converter or Emailchemy to convert the .emlx files to standard mbox format.
Also, pay attention to the instructions that Mail displays when choosing a data format in File > Import Mailboxes. Mail wants you to select the folder that contains the mailboxes to be imported, not the mailboxes themselves. This allows you to import all the exported mailboxes at once.
