Unable to see photos

When I enter Time machine, I can see and watch videos that are saved on time machine. However, when I open up photos, it will not let me view the photos. It just says how many gigs are saved and the current version of iphoto. I don't necessarily want to view photos, but want to make sure they are backed up correctly. Anyone else seen this?

Hello slack:
I do not know whether or not it is by design, but you can view the photos this way.
Open iPhoto. Go to your home folder (~pictures>iphoto library). Select the point in time you wish to view photos. Click on the iPhoto icon. The pictures will open in whatever view you wish.

  • Unable to see photo in PS workspace

I have PS CS4 extended (student version) installed on my laptop. It worked fine till a few days ago when I opened my computer and could not see photos in the PS workspace. Following is my usual workflow: I open PS then open Bridge where I locate the files I want to work on. I usually shoot in RAW (NEF for Nikon) therefore when I open my photo file, it opens up in Camera Raw (v 5.4). Once I've made modifications, I then open the image and it goes to Photoshop to either do more modifications or save it as a psd file. Everything worked fine! Then one day, when I did my usual routine, I couldn't see the photo file open in the workspace anymore. All I can see are the palettes on the right hand side and the tool bar on the left, the menu bar, application bar and options bar at the top. I know the photo file is open because the title bar has the file name on it, and in the layers palette, the background layer is open. The gray area where the photo usually appears is now black with no photo visible. I reinstalled the program with no better results.
Does anyone know what is happening and what I can do to remedy the situation? thanks for your help.

Curt y, I did but it doesn't solve the problem.
XGod, I've been in contact with Adobe support directly and they got me to try article kb404897 (Troubleshoot system errors and freeze in CS4). This article is for Window Vista users (that's what I have), but the solution mentioned article didn't solve anything. The solution was to re-create the Photoshop preferences file. I was in contact with Adobe again this morning and they got me to try something else which was with the mode used (under the IMAGE menu tab).  RGB and 16-bit were ticked. After changing to 8-bit, I opened the program again but it had changed back to 16-bit. I bet that is the problem! Now I can remember playing around with that!!! I don't know how to change it back to 8-bit as a default but will read up on it. I'll keep you posted.

  • Unable to see photos edited in photoshop in iphoto

Opened photos in photoshop and edited, then saved as in iphoto changing only the file extension. I am then unable to view edits in iphoto. Using finder, I can see the edited files and can view in preview, yet if I open the mac hd from desktop, I find the directory path listed in finder stops 2 folder short of where the edited photos are.
Path shown in finder = home>pictures folder>i library>modified folder>bridgeday folder>img. If I go to mac hd, I run into a deadend at ilibrary?
    Thanks
    Dale

you NEVER make any changes of any sort to the contents of the iPhoto library - this includes saving photos into it
you need to go to the iPhoto preferences and set PS as the external editor - then iPhoto will correctly pass a photo to PS and after editing you save (not save as) to return it to iPhoto where is is correctly places into the iPhoto library and everything is updated

  • Lightroom 4 (and 5) unable to see photos in folders (import and sync)

    Hi folks,
actually I'm reporting about an old problem which still persists with Lightroom. I'm using Lightroom 4.4.1 on Windows 7 (64bit) and also Mac OS X Mavericks. Here's some more background information on my setup first, before describing the actual problem:
My photos are stored on a Mac Mini running Mavericks, which I use as a fileserver. The fileshare is accessed by my Windows 7 PC as well as my Macbook. There is no issue with file access or any problem with any other program but Lightroom on the Windows machine. The Macbook does not have the issue described:
My photos are basically organized by date in a folder structure per the picture below.
The issue is that Lightroom on the Windows PC is not able to sync or even import pictures from some of the folders any more. Trying to sync the affected folders results in Lightroom to delete pictures from the catalogue because they're not found any more.
One special thing is that in the import dialogue, Lightrooms shows me three addional subfolders in my actual picture folder which are not existing in reality. In the attached picture you can see three levels of subfolders "05 Norwegen" which are not there in the regular Windows or OS X structure, and no, they're not hidden or something like that. So something is mixed up with Lightrooms file/folder handling which causes this problem I guess.
Checking the respective folders in Windows Explorer or on my Macbook and also with Lightroom on the Macbook tells me that all pictures are there and absolutely accessible!
Checking different forums for tons of months revealed, that there's others having the same issue. There's also a couple of solutions which worked for some folks but not in my case:
    - Deleting the XMP files of the pictures in the folder did not work
    - Deleting the Preferences file in Lightroom  and creating a new one did not work
    - Un- and reinstalling Lightroom, including deleting the registry stuff and system files did no work
    - Creating a new catalogue and trying to import the whole picture selection did not work
    - Exporting the catalogue from my Macbook and importing it into the Windows PC's Lightroom did not work
    - Lightroom 5.x also does have the issue, at least with the current trial version, so updating does not help either
    - The issue came like "creeping" into the system and folders behaved like that as of a sudden, even without having edited or modified file in there before.
    - Lightroom can actually see all pictures again, if you move the affected folder to the Windows PC's local harddrive (SSD), but as soon as you move the folder back to the shared volume, even with Lightroom, the problem's there again
    - Renaming the folder also does not work and the "ghostly" subfolders mentioned above do have the same name again
    - A suspicion I had, that the problem is connected to the number of files in the affected folder, could not be confirmed by me. There was a time when I thought exceeding 100 files in the folder would reveal the problem, this is not true.
As the issue is going on for more than a year, basically making my Windows PC useless in terms of photo editing, I'm heavily frustated with Lightroom and Adobe. The only thing I did not try right now was doing a clean install on the Windows PC, which I'm hesitant to do as Lightroom is the only application having problems.
So, I would be happy if anybody would have a hint for me or if somebody from Adobe finally would take note of that issue. I expect it still to be there even if there would be a Lightroom 6. If there's something i can do to my Windows config, let me know!
    Regards!

    Alright,
no replies so far! Anyways, here's some more information which is leading me to the conclusion that the bug causing the effect described above is a combination of Apple's SMB implementation of Mavericks and the way Lightroom is actually using SMB network access:
I did another trial by connecting a USB hard drive to the USB port of my router (Netgear). The connection is quite slow, but moving one of the folders in question (see my 1st post above) to the shared drive connected to the Router made Lightroom on my Windows machine to see the photos again, when I told Lightroom where to find the moved folder!
Everything was working as expected, on the Windows machine again! Moving the folder back again to the Mac Mini fileshare was causing Lightroom on the PC to get blind again for the pictures trying to sync or import. However, accessing and modifying a photo was possible again, like it was before the trial. So it's only the sync and import function having a problem!
I also did some trial in re-building ACLs and access rights on the file server with no luck. So there's got to be a functionality in sync and import of Lightroom which is using a certain SMB feature which is not supported by Apple's SMB implementation!
    Any thoughts or hints?
    Thanks!

  • Unable to see photos in photo pane after importing

I am working with a slide show. I have already imported the photos from iphoto into iMovie. I now want to adjust some of them ie longer, Ken Burns effect etc. If I highlight a photo in the clip viewer, it does not show in the photo pane. I had already sent the iMovie to iDVD, but decided to trash the DVD project and make adjustments to iMove. Could that in any way effect the photo pane?

    Catherine,
I'm not sure why, but I've also noticed that clips on the viewer don't show up. You can work on them, however, by moving the clip to the timeline. Once its there and selected, it will show up in the Ken Burns window when you click on photo.
    Hope that helps.

  • Unable to see photos in iphoto only  blank boxes where the photo's should be

can anyone help , usually use the external drive to manage iphoto, for some reason now when i click on iphoto, only blank boxes appear and even when i eject the hard drive and open iphoto it thinks it has found the library with blank boxes . ???

Remember we can't see your machine.
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

  • HT201317 Unable to see uploaded photos on photostream

I have set up my iPad 2 and my PC desktop. I manually uploaded photo to photo stream, but am unable to see photo from iPad.  Any ideas?

Great tips, all, 99jon, @dj_paige, and @JimHess. Appreciate the help. Ran through each of these steps, which I should have mentioned. Here are a couple of notes:
Not a smart collection. Just a simple collection that I created and added photos into.
None of the images have been moved. Is there a way to see where the source images are stored? I backed up the images on an external so it crossed my mind that somehow the collection is referenced externally...but I'm not sure how I can even see where the collection itself is stored.
Toggled on/off both the No Filters and Filters Off features. There are definitely no filters on...
    Thanks again.

    Hi Jdentremont,
Lync client gets user photos by first querying the Address Book Web Query (ABWQ) service on the server, which is exposed through the Distribution List Expansion web service. The client receives
the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
    1.  Navigate to
     “X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
    2. Delete all the files in this folder.
    3. On test PC, delete local cache files.
    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
    4. Sign-in Lync with the test account.
    5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Unable to see All Photos when changing wallpaper in iOS 8

I am unable to see All Photos when I'm changing the wallpaper in iOS 8.  I can only see my Albums that I've synced from my computer and Recently Added. Is this is a bug, moved the feature or just some odd thing going on with my phone?
Workaround: I can go to the actual photo in the Photos app, select it and send it to "Use as Wallpaper"
    Device: iPhone 5S 32GB CDMA
    iOS: 8

    Geraldine
Try rebuilding the database, see if it helps:
Hold down the apple and option keys and launch iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

  • Users are unable to see their own profile photo although everyone else can see it in Lync 2013 client

We have Lync 2013, Exchange 2010 and several AD
    servers in mixed mode 2003/2008.
All user are unable to see their own profile photo
either in the main Lync window, in the settings or in a chat although other user can see that their photo is there and displaying. The user experiencing the issue can go open Outlook 2013 client and will see their photo displaying correctly in the file menu
    (and elsewhere) here.
I have confirmed this happens with any new users I set up as well. We have gone through a fair amount of troubleshooting with other Lync photo issues and simple fixes such as deleting the SIP cache folder etc proves to be ineffective.
Our Cs-ClientPolicy Global is set to websearchonly.
We have "Replicate this attribute to the Global Catalog" set
for the ThumbnailPhoto attribute in AD.
We are also forcing photos from AD only (or no photo) by setting the following:
    "Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity PhotosControl -DisplayPhoto
    PhotosFromADOnly"
and finally we are importing the photo in ad using this PS command:
    "Import-RecipientDataProperty -Identity "Test User"
-Picture -FileData ([Byte[]]$(Get-Content -Path "C:\pictures\testuser.jpg" -Encoding Byte -ReadCount 0))"
The pictures being uploaded are under 10KB in size.
I have followed many threads and will provide any information I can to help find the problem. Thank you in advance.
EDIT: I have also tried the following but with no success: https://knowledge.zomers.eu/misc/Pages/How-to-fix-your-photo-not-showing-up-in-the-Lync-client.aspx

  • HT4101 I have a NIKON COOLPIX P500 but am unable to download photos through the IPad camera connection kit. I have tried to use the Sandisk card also - no result. Any suggestions? The Ipad does not "see" the card or camera?

I have a Nikon Coolpix P500 but am unable to download photos from it to my iPad2 via the iPad Camera Connection kit. The iPad does not see either the Sandisk 8GB card or the Nikon camera. I have turned the camera on, but it seems that the camera just want to recharge its battery through the iPad as the iPad states that the devices draws too much power?? Anybodu solved this problem yet? Advise please?

One thing to check is the format that the camera is saving pics to the card in. Many are selectable and, in most cases, if PTP is one of the options then you need to have that one selected for the files to be visible to iOS and the CCK (connection kit).
Another thing which sometimes comes up, especially with older cameras and therefore probably not with yours, is the filenaming conventions used by the camera. iOS is quite strict about what it expects to see and if files are being stored with unsupported name formats then they simply won't be seen at all.

  • I am unable to see the photos which i have taken with iPhone on the photostream option of ipad

I am unable to see the photos which i have taken with iphone on my ipad ( photostream features is not working). i have checked the settings of both devises and photostream of both is working.

Are you talking about older pictures you took before turning photo stream on?  If so, they don't sync via photo stream.  You have to sync them to a computer's itunes then sync to other device.

  • Unable to see photographs wihin the Photos pane in iMovie HD

    Hello,
    I've recently upgraded my G4 17-inch Powerbook from i-life4 to i-life5. I'm currently have OS X 10.3.9
The problem I have is that I can't see any photographs in the iMovie Photos pane (v5.0.2). There is a message in the pane saying "Launch iPhoto 2 or later to populate this list". After launching iPhoto (v5.0.4), it still doesn't make any difference (I do have photos & videos within iPhoto).
I have tried creating new iMovie projects and opening existing projects. I'm still unable to see any photographs in the Photos pane. Shouldn't this pane be automatically populated with photos from iPhoto?
I've tried using the iMovie Help to solve this problem but all it indicates is to have iPhoto v4 or later and to have least opened iPhoto one time on the computer to be able to access the iPhoto library from iMovie HD.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Unable to see my Generation 2 Apple TV under iTunes 10.6.1

I would like to download photos from my new iMac but I am unable to see my Generation 2 Apple TV under the left-hand tab column in iTunes 10.6.1.  There is no mention of Apple TV under the iTunes Preferences.  I am unable to download movies to my Apple TV through my wireless network.  Any suggestions?  I had no difficulties doing this with an earlier model iMac however this was more than one year ago.
I am however able to see and select the Apple TV in the bottom right of the iTunes (Multiple Speakers) screen.

You would in that case. ATV 2 and 3 only have a small 8GB flash drive for buffering streamed content.
    For reference
    This is the 1st generation
2nd Gen (3rd gen looks the same but has un updated processor and can output 1080P)
ATV 1 is not compatible with Airplay/Mirroring/iCloud. You set it to sync and stream with your computer. You can still use the remote app on your iPad to control the device if you wish.
