Unable to see Publisher roles in obiee 11g

Hi All,
I have installed OBIEE 11g (11.6). In Admin tool for the user weblogic I am unable to see the publisher roles XMLP_SCHEDULER, XMLP_ADMIN, XMLP_DEVELOPER etc.. But I am able to access publisher.
Only able to see BI Administrator, BI Author, BI Consumer BI System.
In OBIEE 10g, I am able to see all the roles for Administrator user once I installed.

Thanks.Have you installed BI Publisher along with OBIEE ? If yes, then the roles should have been created in the enterprise manager by default. Since you dont see them, I believe you will have to manually create all the application policies and then application roles and assocaite them. You either find them in the documnetation on what to create etc or you can try installing .5 version of OBIEE to replicate the same in .6.

Follow the steps below:
1.Shutdown all OBIEE services.
2.Replace the files sawguidstate and sawguidstate.atrin the location:

with the same files from a backup or from another working instance.
3.Restart all OBIEE services.

Unable to see some Roles in Query designer

Hi all,
I have created a role in PFCG having some queries and assigned that role to my user id.
When i log into Query designer i m unable to see that role and all other roles i am able to see.
What could be the reason for this?
Did i missed to assign any authorizations?

Hi Anoop,
The variable is probably being used to restrict a key figure.
Go to the key figures,
Display the technical names
Check the key figures for which the technical name is not appearing even though the key figure is not a formula.
Here you will see one of the key figure being restricted by a variable for 0calday

Unable to find Admin tab in OBIEE 11G BI Publisher

i am unable to find the Administrator tab in OBIEE 11G BI Publisher. even if i login through the administrator privileges.
can some one provide solution for this how to enable the Administration tab in BI Publisher.

Help Me: Issue with "Unable to Sign In" Analytics Of OBIEE 11g

Hi Friends,
I have Installed OBIEE 11g in Windows Server 2008-64 bit.I have installed through "Software Only" and ran the "Config Script".
while I was running "Config Script" , One Component was failed i.e "Executing : opmnctl start coreapplication_obips1 -----> Failed".
I just ignored that one and continue the installation.All were successfully created expect that "obips1".
Used Requirements for OBIEE11g:
Oracle 11.2.0,jdk-6u24-windows-x64,wls1033_generic,ofm_rcu_win32_11.1.1.3.3_disk1_1of1(RCU),OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.3.0.
All servers are up(NodeManager,WebLogic,BIServices,opmnctl) and the status of "opmnctl" also shows are are "Alive".
But here the problem is I am unable to login "Analytics" and even I am able to login "Console" and "EM".
I am getting an Error while I was logging to the Analytics i.e "An error occurred during authentication. Try again later or contact your system administrator".
can any one help out how to fix the problem to Login Analytics successfully .
and suggest me that need to add any patches or other ways to fix the problem.

Can you check to see if you are able to login to Admin tool using the sampleliteapp Repository? Try the below solutions. If your not able to login to Admintool also, then solution 2 is more likely to fix the problem
Solution 1: (Restart BI services )
Try to restart all the BI Services.
1. Go to EM
2. Click on Business Intelligence to expand it
3. Click on Coreapplication, then Capacity Management tab
4. Click Restart All
5. Once all the compnents are restarted, the logon is enabled using the new port number being set.
Solution 2: ( Refreshing GUID's)
Open the NQSConfig.INI file for editing. For more information, see "Where are Configuration Files Located?" in Oracle Fusion Middleware System Administrator's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition.
Locate the setting FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS = NO and change its value to YES.
Modify the instanceconfig.xml file to instruct Oracle BI Presentation Server to refresh GUIDs on restart. Edit the file to add the last line in the following instruction.

The following components are involved: Oracle BI Presentation Server, Oracle BI Server, Oracle BI Scheduler, Oracle BI Cluster Controller, and Oracle BI JavaHost.
For information about using opmnctl commands, see "Using the OPMN command line to Start and Stop Oracle Business Intelligence System Components" in Oracle Fusion Middleware System Administrator's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition.
Edit the NQSConfig.INI file to reset the FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS = YES to NO and restart the Oracle BI Servers.
Remove, set to none, or comment out the line (see UpgradeAndExit in the following example) added to the instanceconfig.xml file (that instructs Oracle BI Presentation Server to refresh GUIDs on restart).

Giving access to users to run BI Publisher reports in Obiee 11G

Hello Experts,
I am trying to give permission to couple of user groups to run the BI publisher reports i have created in Obiee 11g analytics. when they try to run them they error out contact administrator and i have admin rights and i can run the reports. I dont see anything regarding BI publisher in Manage privileges page to grant permission to the groups. Where should i enable or grant the permission to these groups so that they can run those reports. Any advise is greatly appreciable.

Unable to connect to DB from OBIEE 11G

Hello experts
I have successfully installed OBIEE 11G on my Linux machine.. On Windows machine I have installed the client tool. Both are version 11.1.1.7.0.
I have my Tnsname.ora file saved in both Oracle_Home/network/Admin as well as OBIEE/Oracle_BI1/Network/Admin folder..
Now my DB is on a different linux machine, so my TNSname file has the correct entry for that..
I am able to connect to the DB from my OBIEE server machine through Putty by doing : sqlplus username/password@instance
However, from OBIEE side, I am not able to update rowcounts nor viewing reports..
From RPD side, I am getting errors: The connection has failed,
From report:
Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65PState: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. Lets try with these once
First copy the TNSnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files from ur Database following location:C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN
and paste these two files in ur Obiee installetion following two locations:
D:\MWHOME\Oracle_BI1\network\admin
D:\MWHOME\oracle_common\network\admin

Can't create Application Role in Obiee 11g Enterprise Manager

Hi All,
I was working on obiee11g enterprise manager. I created some of the groups in weblogic console. Now I wanted to create application roles in enterprise manager for those groups. I am surprised that, the "*Create*" button is inactive on the application role page of enterprise manager. I only i could see tthe actives ones "*Create Like*", "*Edit*" and "*Delete*".
Please assist shoud I need any additional configuration for the same.urgent!!

Click on Create Like button
Then click cancel on the Create Like dialog box
Go back to the Create button, it now works
But if you log out and log back in, the Create button is disabled again
so may repeat the above process of accessing the 'Create Like' button first to enable the Create button

Unable to see Header pane of OBIEE in siebel.

Hi Experts,
I am using BI Apps 7.9.6.1. While Accessing OBIEE (10.1.3.4.1) through siebel, I can only see the Answer not the dashboard or the Header Pane.
But I can see the All the dashboards and Header pane through OBIEE. I have checked all the Permissions and Roles. Everything seems to be fine.
What else I should do to view the header pane of OBIEE in Siebel.

Hi,
If you access OBIEE through Siebel you access each component directly: Answers, Dashboards, Delivers, etc, so the header pane is not available.
If you want to access Dashboard from Siebel you need to activate the Dashboard view on Siebel.

Unable to see new role in environment

An end user said that a role that was working last week is no longer available in the portal. No changes have been made to the system in the past week.
A co-worker successfully imported this new role into the portal a week ago, but the change did not synchronize to all the servers in the environment. We have one Central Instance and two Web Application Servers in our Java environment. The import was successfully completed on WAS1. I verified this by checking the PCD import log files on WAS1. When I log into the portal running on WAS1 the new role is available. When I log into the portal running on the Central Instance the role is NOT available.
To resolve the issue a logged into the portal running on the Central Instance and used System Administration >Transport Packages> IMPORT to import the *.epa file containing this role.
Is there something else I should have done to resolve this use? How does a the system synchronize changes to objects in the java environment?

Hi,
when doing a depoly of an application (PAR) or EPA, you basically just copy the file to a (shared) folder on your java instance. This change get's recognized by your instance.
If it's a PAR, the instance informs all the other instances in your cluster of the change. They all access the application and do a local deploy / installation of the change.
If it's an EPA (PCD objects), the instance reads the content and writes it to the DB and informs the other instances that a DB change has occured and they should read the DB again to sync their content.
Normally, the deploy;import works without problems in a server, but can produce from time to time some errors / sync issues. Depending on the cache, an instance simply won't read the DB. You can use a tool from SAP that checks the instance and DB for sync issues (the tool is called something like: PCDcheckDB.sh).
Generally, you should clear the cache of your portal after every deploy/transport to ensure that the user is getting the latest version:
- Navigation cache
- portal DB cache
- PCD cache
- (HTTP provider cache, web dispatcher cache)
Depending on you configuration (cluster with many servers and nodes), you see this issue several times, you can do the following:
- Shut your DI down and do the deploy on your CI.
- Restart your DI with the sync option. This way, they will sync the content of the DB and disregard the local cache.

you should not delete the file under /tmp/bip* if its not deleted then check the space under /tmp mount to see if it has got sufficient space to produce the bip*.tmp file

Is there a way to deny access to BI Publisher -Report job in OBIEE 11g?

Thank you all for the helpful information in the posts. I am trying to disable or not to display Report job under published reporting in OBIEE 11g. Could any one of you you please help me with the steps?
My issue:
I am pretty new to OBIEE and we are using OBIEE 11g when the user clicks on the new drop down, i am trying to disable or turnoff Report job under published reporting for a user group. I tried to find the relevant components for published reporting to deny access to report job under manage privileges but no luck i couldn't find any and i realized that i should be looking into Manage Bi publisher roles and responsibilities but i cannot remove the roles. Please help me with the steps and the options where i need to go and what i should do to not to display the report job. Your help is greatly appreciated, if i am not clear please let me know i will try to rephrase or explain it better
FYI
We are using LDAP for user creation and we have created a new group and created a test user belongs to that group and that user should not see the Report job. When i am seeing the users roles and responsibilities it is also showing me other two roles authenticated user role and BI consumer role for the test user, when i asked the admin guy dealing with LDAP he said he only associated the user with that only new group. Please advice

In EM, go to Weblogic Domain, right click on bifoundation_domain and on the Security menu choose Application Policies.
Set Application Stripe to obi and click the blue arrow search button.
Highlight BIConsumer and click Edit.
Under Permissions locate Resource Name oracle.bi.publisher.scheduleReport. Highlight this and click Delete...
Click OK (top right corner).
Now log your user out of OBIEE and back in again, and the option should have disappeared from their New menu.
