Unable to select modem in the "Show" field in System Prefs, Network

I think I may have asked this in the wrong place before. I really would appreciate any help or advice anyone can give!!
I've just moved and I'm trying to get the modem there to work with my iBook G4. The modem definitely works and it's all definitely set up (my boyfriend's sorted his out on his PC), just not with my computer.
In the user guide (from the provider - Tiscali) I'm told to go to System Prefs (fine), Network (fine), select Location as "ADSL USB PPPoE/PPPoA" (fine) but then I encounter a problem - I am told to set the "Show" field just below to the modem name (which comes up in my Network status as "Ethernet Adaptor (en2)", so my computer is recognising it). However, this isn't an option. Also, when I go to the screen where I can prioritise the internet connections (Network Status?? Sorry for not being more specific - I'm at work and on a PC) "Ethernet Adaptor (en2)" is there but grey, as in I can't select it.
Any ideas what I can do? I've installed all of the CD and did my restarting, I have the modem plugged in and my computer is recognising this, and the people at Tiscali said I'd have to contact Apple for help but I decided to give here a try.

Please don't misunderstand, but many of the Internet service providers in the UK and much of Europe use USB Modems and they are fair to poor at best.
Another point of intrest is that all of these same Internet Service Providers also have and offer Ethernet Modems as well as Ethernet Modem Routers.
I think it must be a cost issue for them. Another point is the technology is exactly the same weather you have a PC or a MAC, the reason they all point the finger in another direction , they have few Mac Techs available, when PC's hold the majority of the market. Another point, you shouldn't need to download there software to make stuff work.

There are no extra settings that needs to be done for this. I don't know whether you have noticed this, but IS option will only come up when you want to monitor the messages from the "Database" and not from the "Database overview" or "Archive".

Why am I unable to select layers within the layout window - PSE13

I am working on a project in expert mode. It has several layers. Randomly, I am now unable to select any of the layers within the layout window. I have tried to drag or click on or over an element and nothing happens, it keeps selecting the same element unless I select it from the layers utility on the right hand side. I have tried this with a mouse and a Wacom tablet, same result.

Fixed by running updates, resetting preferences and rebooting. Phew!

HELP!! Unable to select objects with the selection tool

Not sure if I accidently hit a key that I wasn't supposed to, but the selection tool stopped working the way it should. When I put the cursor on top of an object and click the mouse button, nothing happens. Also ctrl A doesn't work. Any suggestions? I've shut down and restarted and that didn't work.

To keep previously selected objects selected, ShiftClick the following ones.
If Ctrl+A does not select anything, and if no selection appears in the Info palette (select Objects in the flyout), something else is the matter, and it may be time to Move the folder

First, make sure your TV is tuned to display the correct input signal. Most TVs have several inputs (multiple HDMIs, cable connections, RCA etc) so double-check that you're using the correct one - HDMI1, HDMI2 or whatever is written next to the port.
I assume that you have a mini-Displayport to HDMI adaptor? If you open displays preferences, first tick the box that says "show display preferences in menu bar" then locate the menu and click Detect Displays. See if that helps.

Ex: select-options: dat for sy-datum.
I am able to save the lower limit as a dynamic value but not able to save the upper values as dynamic in the select-options. Could any of you please help me in this.

i hope dynamic variant concept is not there,
but u can use the fn module DYPRO_GET_VALUES and
DYNPRO_SET_VALUES
DYNPRO_GET_VALUES gets the values in the screen,
DYNPRO_SET VALUES sets the values.

Lock the BT field though system status

Hello,
we need to lock all the field in our contract(ZTA) all the time, even if the contract changes user status(E0002 --> E0003, E0004...). Is there any system status to avoid to modify the fields at header and item level? And even at the first status, Opened?(this is because the contract always going to be copy of the quotation, so none modifications)
Each user status contents a transactional control, INPR, CONC, FINI... with different actions I0005, I0008... (checking BS33) but i don´t find the proper one. if there is any document about, it would be perfect.

1. Do whatever check you want to carry out for the status. You can use the CRM_ORDER_READ function module to get the status of the transaction. Pass is_fieldcheck_com-ref_guid in a table to CRM_ORDER_READ to do so.

Unable to kill or cancel the job in source system

   got a error , while loading delta for line item ods in AR.
stating as the job is not ended in the source system.'
i find the job in the source system and it is active.
   i tried to kill that job from sm37, its not happening,
and tried to cancel from sm50 even its not happening.
kindly suggest how to cancel or kill that job.

        Check If u r system is running on more than 1 server...kill your job with proper appropriate server in tcode SM51.And also after killing the job come to SM37 check that particular job, nd on top menubar,u will 'check job status'.Then do refresh.

IPhoto folders no longer showing in iTunes & System Pref???

has anyone had this problem recently?
when i'm syncing iPod it no longer shows individual folders that you could select from. it seems to me that it wants to wipe out the folders that are existing on my iPod to replace it with entire iPhoto library without separate folders.
also, in system preferences it no longer shows folders from iPhoto. ?
i don't understand. could it have anything to do with iWeb? that is about the only thing i've "played" around with recently...

okay, so i just restarted my computer & the desktop changed.
i usually only sleep the computer & so the desktop doesn't change. even when i did shutdown/restart computer in the past, the desktop did not change. i think somehow this is all connected. it seems if i don't have whatever photo my desktop is saved on the desktop, it will change it back into some generic photo...should i just make an appointment at an apple store? i don't have iPhoto 08 & there have been no updates...

Disable remote control IR receiver is not showing up in system pref.

My remote for my iMac is not working. I originally thought it neeeded a new battery but that was not it. I had a power outage the other night and since then have been noticing the problem.
The apple support says;
'To turn on IR reception:
Open System Preferences and click Security.
Deselect "Disable remote control infrared receiver.'
When I go to system preferences and then security, the option to 'disable remote control infrared receiver' does not show up.
Yesterday I restarted and the option came back, this morning after turning my computer on it wasn't there again. Any idea how to resolve this problem for good?

The next time you notice the line gone from the System Preferences, open up your System Profiler (from the /Applications/Utillities/ folder) and check to see if the "IR Receiver" is listed under the USB section in Hardware.
If it doesn't appear there, then perhaps you're having some kind of failure of your receiver? If it does appear there, then it would seem more likely that you're having some kind of preference file or setting problem.

Unable to select the created Ports(greyed out) in the import manager

We have created some ports with specific Remote system and XML schema's and also assigned the map to it.
The processing type is manual for now,since we want to load data manually using import manager from the Ready folder of the port since PI is dropping the files there.But when I load import manager and select the file type as "Port" and also the relevant remote system ,I cannot select any of the list of ports created ,All are greyed out.
All I need is to select "Port" option ,remote system and use the created port from the dropdown list of import manager " connect to source" step,which i am unable to select as all the port s are greyed out and unable to select.
Any help greatly appreciated...

Hello Arvind,
There is no need to start the MDIS (Import server) if you are importing the data manually.you just open the import manager, login into the repository and select type as XML as per your case and select the remote system (it depends on your requirement) and select the port on which your xml files resides.and enter in the import manager then map you data accordingly and you can import into the repository.
when you want to automate the process for importing the data in repository then you will need to Start the import Server. In that case import server automatically pick the file from the ready port folder and also set the property in console as the processing type is Automatic.

What happened to "bookmark this page" selection in the "show your bookmarks" menu on the right?

Now I have to:
1) click again on the stupid blue star to get the menu to place my new bookmark where I choose to instead of have it go to unsorted bookmarks...
OR
2) bring up or have up the menu bar and click on the "bookmarks" menu choice of "bookmark this page" which brings up what I'd call the choice or sort menu that lets me access my bookmarks menu...
...where I wanted to go to create a bookmark AND I get to select "choose", which is what I used to do when adding ANY bookmark.
I want the "bookmark this page" selection back on the "show your bookmarks" list on the right...where it belongs. Why does everyone want to keep hiding the useful tools?
Firefox 29 stinks and I've had nothing but problems from the beginning...and since making the mistake of resetting.
I now have a folder of stuff that I have no clue what to do with as, upon resetting, I got "Oooops this is embarrassing, we're having a problem" or something. Any clues about what to do with all that "junk" (now, to me) might also be helpful.

I was used to being able to select the folder to place my bookmark without going into an edit session. This is as useless now as windows "libraries"

Dynamic selection screen fetching the value from table fields

hi gurus,
i have one table say ztable...and i should create a dynamic selection screen which should populate the selection screen by the table field names.
example..if i have 3 fields im my table..my selection screen should have three selection option fields..and in future if i add one more field in my table it should automatically create another slection-option in selection screen..

Do you mean like SE16 works. If so, you should notice that if you amend the selection fields, the screen program is actually re-generated.
That is what is happening. A program is being created and re-generated.
To create a dynamic selection screen in a single program is not possible ( I may be wrong ). If it is possible, then you would have problems in defining selection screen field names and using them.

Chart Web Part - Stacked Column Chart and the Y Field

I am trying to create a stacked chart in Sharepoint.
I am encountering a problem at the "Bind Chart to Data" Step. Retrieval of Data goes without a hitch - all rows and columns are captured and shown, but then when it comes to adding series, the "Y Field" drop down menu only shows one of
my columns. So of course, the final chart only has one data series visible - a normal column chart instead of a stacked one.
What could be the cause of this, and how do I fix it?

a drop-down menu on the page, does NOT show the option "Oranges". It shows only "Apples" again, and also a blank setting (selecting this also does not cause desired graph to get created).

Select records based on 1 field have either of 2 values

II have 2 tables, Account and Order, it's a one to many where 1 account can have many orders. I'm trying to pull the records where the account has orders that have a status of Completed or Quoted. I know I'm not explaining well so hopefully the example below will help.
Account A has 3 orders, all of them are completed.
Account B has 5 orders, 2 of them are completed, and 3 of them are quoted.
Account C has 2 orders, all of them are quoted.
I only want Account B to show up in my report. That is, I only want accounts that have both completed and quoted orders
I've tried various record selections but because the status field on a single order can only have one value I'm not sure how to get the results that I need.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

for this you may either have to write a report with a Command based object with a subselect and a WHERE IN clause.
there's an easier way using a Group Selection formula though...the disadvantage of this method is that this doesn't filter those records out at the database which could be a problem if you're dealing with 100's of thousands of records. if that's the case, then use the method mentioned at the top.
For a Group Selection method try the following:
1) create a Group on the Accountfield
2) create a formula called Completed that reads something like
if = 'Completed' then 1
3) create another formula called 'Quoted' that reads something like
if = 'Quoted' then 1
4) put these fields on the report and put a Summary on them at the Account Group level
5) go into the Group Selection Formula and find your group level summaries and create a formula similar to
Sum(AccountGroup, @Completed) > 0 and Sum(AccountGroup,@Quoted) > 1
This will bring back only Accounts with both completed and quoted records.
