Unable to select sounds from Sound Effects file

Hi, Please help. I am using a MacBook Pro - OS X 10.6.7 Mid 2009 (I am NOT a pro!) I cannot seem to change my alert sounds. I have changed my selection from "Glass" to "Basso" for example, but it will only play my previous selected sound? i.e Glass. The same applies to my Skype ring tone, I would like to hear the Original Skype incoming ring tone, and it is on the list as "incoming call" which I select (once selected it plays the correct sound) but then when I close the Select an alert sound window, it reverts back to the "glass" alert sound?? What am I doing wrong?? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks

What happens if you log in as another user and try there?
If they work ok, there, something is munged in your primary account.
You can try checking drive health with Disk Utility/First Aid, but more than likely there is a software conflict I think - if you can't find it, you may consider reinstalling the OS.
If this is beyond you, walk it into the nearest Apple Store and ask the staff there for assistance.

There are no extra settings that needs to be done for this. I don't know whether you have noticed this, but IS option will only come up when you want to monitor the messages from the "Database" and not from the "Database overview" or "Archive".

Enabled Constraints
During a direct path load, the constraints that remain enabled are as follows:

Using browser javascript to copy selected text from a pdf file opened in Air app.

I have posted this question on reader forum as well, but I think it is more suited here...
I am trying to create a note-taking application in air. I want to extract selected text from pdf file as a string object or to the clipboard.
Obviously, all pdfs in my local storage will not be scripted to recieve postMessages and act accordingly, and that is not practical either. So, my problem is, how can I copy the selected text in the pdf file (opened as an object in htmlloader within my Air app) to clipboard or directly in another control by say clicking a button in air application? I suppose, this is possible using javascript, however, I don't know which reader methods are exposed to the wrapper htmlloader control. In short, I want to execute app.execMenuItem("Copy") command through htmlloader javascript. Any alternate solutions are also welcome.
This is similar to passing inbuilt commands/methods/functions (of adobe reader) to pdf-reader plugin embedded in a webpage via javascript. This is possible in IE where the pdf is rendered as activex object, and hence JSObject interface of pdf document/reader is accessible to the browser javascript. I have also read that this same JSObject is accessible to VB as interface for IAC, so as the Air is Adobe's own product, I was wondering if equivalent of JSObject is accessible to htmlloader control as well.

As it is explicitly mentioned, that the functionality of adobe reader are exposed for plugin development, I thought someone here might have used external javascript to execute some safe methods in adobe reader. The functionality (i.e. external javascript interface-JSObject) is already available for VB programmers to develop IAC. Further, the Acrobat SDK example called "AcroPDFinHML" shows how one can embed a pdf-reader in a html page and execute some safe methods (like gotonextpage(), zooming etc.) in IE as ActiveX plugin. I have checked it myself for adobe reader 9, and it works perfectly, so there is no security issue as such to implement the same for another browser (like in my case, the htmlloader control in flex/air app).
I intend to create a note taking application in air, where it is very much required that I should be able to copy selected text from various pdf documents, that are open in my app, and subsequently paste/collect/save the collected notes and process them afterwords (offcourse, from the pdfs that allow me copying text). However, it is not happening for me here. As the pdfs are opened through adobe reader plugin, it does not register the copy command executed by my air app. It registers the system level copy command (by keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C), but my air app has no way to execute the system level copy command programmatically. So I am kind of stuck here...

Why cannot I copy selected text from a pdf file opened in Adobe Reader XI?

I had a problem when I tried to copy some selected text on a pdf file([Linux.System.Programming(2nd,2013.5)].Robert.Love.文字版.pdf) , which was opened in Adobe Reader XI as below (non-English version):
The error's text could be primarily translated as "An error occured when copied to clipboard. Internal Error." I'm not sure about the reason of this. I guess it is a problem or bug related to operating system or Adobe Reader XI. I had this problem when I used other versions of Adobe Reader though I cannot remember the exact number of versions now.
The version of XI I'm using is 11.0.0. The operating system is XP SP3.
As I was writing this question, the problem disappeared and I cannot reproduce it again now.
Could anyone help explain why the error message appearred or why the problem disappearred? If there is referrence provided, that would be finer. Thank you.

Even if it doesn't have a password, the original author has applied "plagiarism" prevention to it.
There is a program from Wondershare, called PDF Password remover, that will remove such restrictions, but I'm not allowed to recommend it, only to point out it's existence.

Unable To Select Markers For Bookmarked AAC Files In iTunes7

Previously if you have used ChapterTool to add index points to an .m4a to make it an .m4b, now iTunes7 considers it an audiobook only and places them under Audiobooks (renaming the file back to an m4a and reimporting places it under Music by the way) will not allow you to see or select those index points anymore. iPods still show the markers during playback. If you burn a playlist containing such a file, it will burn correctly so someone forgot to add that control to the iTunes interface. I hope Apple will fix this.
Gapless playback is going to take a while to iron out for iTunes and iPods so this is still the only true way to have gapless playback with compressed files on an iPod and being able to see and select the markers in the file in iTunes should be a given.

There is no need to start the MDIS (Import server) if you are importing the data manually.you just open the import manager, login into the repository and select type as XML as per your case and select the remote system (it depends on your requirement) and select the port on which your xml files resides.and enter in the import manager then map you data accordingly and you can import into the repository.
when you want to automate the process for importing the data in repository then you will need to Start the import Server. In that case import server automatically pick the file from the ready port folder and also set the property in console as the processing type is Automatic.

Reciver File channel unable to get message from Xi in file- file scenario

Hi All,
I have done a small File to File scenario.
Sender file adapter receiver the file and gives it to XI, then deletes the file from that directory.
Receiver is unable to get the file.
I have a message mapping defined for the receiver which concatenates two fields from one message type and transforms it to another.
I have configured the scenario.
When I check the adapter stats Sender channel picks the Xml deletes it from the directory.

I see a high payload in my monitor belonging to some other process ( shipped with XI) MAT_LEGACY.
The scenario which I executed is showing up a status of <b>scheduled</b>
Adapter has picked the message at 01:59:37 2006-09-12
and start time and the end time of the message is shown as
01:59:37 2006-09-13 in the XI monitor with a status of scheduled .
can I purge the sceduled messages for MAT_LEGACY scenario?
if yes how do i do that?
is this causing a problem for the file not being received by receiver?
when i go to the transaction manager with SMQ1 with the client 100 i see the queue on which the above message is persisted with a queue status of ready.
help me.

Audio is missing when I export longer mp4s from After Effects File via AME. Can you help?

I’m using After Effects to colour correct and add some titles to long .mov files. (typically 45 mins to 1.5 hours in length).
I am then rendering out to the Vimeo 720 25 preset (.mp4s with h.264) using AME.
The problem occurs when I try to render out larger compositions (anything over an hour).
I start to get audio issues, such as no audio, glitchy audio or audio that only starts after 40 minutes for example.
The shorter compositions work fine. And RAM previews always work fine.
(I’m using Creative Cloud on an iMac running Mountain Lion.)
Has anybody experienced this bug, or know a way to fix it?

I tried to reproduce this issue by adding a shape and a table in Publisher, export it as an index.htm file, copy and paste the HTML code which in the <head>
tag and <body> tag only.
It turns out that the original design is gone.
When digging into the HTML code, I found that the HTML code from Publisher might not be compatible with SharePoint page.
For example, a shape which is added in Publisher, the corresponding HTML code would be something like:

We can see that, the value “src” attribute of the <img> tag represents a relative path which can’t be found in the existing SharePoint site structure, it means

As a common practice, I would suggest you create a new HTML file using Visual Studio or SharePoint Designer and examine the design in browser during the development,
it would be easier to compose a valid and browser-compatible HTML file.

Unable to stop Quicktime from playing certain file types

Recently, Quicktime has begun to insist on playing certain file types accessed via Web Browser. I work at a radio station and we have to be able to import certain audio from the web into our own player/editing software.
I have it set in the preferences that Quicktime not play any audio files.
We have had to restrict the installation of Quicktime on our systems.
Anyone know when Quicktime will allow us to really set preferences again?

Each user account can set their own preferences for QuickTime browser playback.
QuickTime Control Panel/Advanced/MIME Settings allow you to change those that will open via the QT browser plug-in.
If your page code is "sloppy" and you directly link to the audio files then you may get a wide vary of responses from the viewing browser. Some users will download the file while others may get a QuickTime playback in a "new" window.

Importing sound effects

I have a small collection of sound bites of my kids from 1996 that I recorded on my mac.I do not remember the OS. I would like to use them in my sound effects file in 10.4.5. I have dragged them to the sound file in the library. They show up in the list but do not play.I have tried to import them into itunes and confert them to aiff files without success. I get a message from itunes saying the selected file ( on a zip disk or desktop...i tried both) can not be converted. I have tried "add to library" and nothing really happens...I can't find an imported sound in itunes. If I look under "get info" about the files they come up as a sound file and if I click on "play sound" they will play. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks DVF

Nothing wrong with the previous suggestion, but before buying QT Pro, I would invest a bit more effort in trying to accomplish your objective. Your original post doesn't seem to indicate the format (or just the extension) of the sound files, so if you could check into that using the Finder and report the information, that would be quite beneficial.

In Garage Band on iPAD, is there a way to make each key on the keyboard play a different sound effect?

I'd like to be able to play a number of selected sound effects using the keyboard in Garage Band. I've figured out how to import audio tracks from my itunes library into a track in Tracks View.

GarageBand on iPad does not have the SoundEffects instruments, that GarageBand on Mac has.
The closest you can get to this on your iPad will be the "Sampler" instrument. You can record a sound sample and play it using the "Sampler" instrument and adjust the pitch.
But you cannot assigne different samples to different keys.

Logic Studio install - Sound Effects option disabled

When I go to install Logic Studio, in the list of things to install the selections "Sound Effects" and "Music Beds" are greyed out and uncheckable. If I install everything I can select, it skips the discs Audio Content 1 and 2. Is there a way to get at least the Sound Effects option enabled?
(This is for Logic Studio upgrade w/ Logic Pro 9, upgrading from Logic Express 8)

So I understand correctly that you are not involved in creating music in any way? Then Logic is NOT what you are looking for. It is mainly aimed at either recording and/or composing original music, and not as a ready to select library sort of thing.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you what you should get, but maybe one of the pro guys can help you out. You'll probably find some users here who actually make the sort of content you want to use.
Logic Pro is the main program in the Logic Studio set.

Can FCP access Soundtracks sound effects

Hey all, I've been using FCP for some time now, not a pro by any means though. And I'd never ventured into soundtrack pro until a friend taught me a few things. He said included with Soundtrack were some generic sound effect files. I tried looking but came up empty handed. Does anyone know if this is correct and, if so, how to access them for use in FCP? thanks all!

Sure, there are both music loops and sound effects files included in STP. You can find them in the Search tab in STP:
Find a sound you want to use, right-click, and choose Reveal in Finder, then you can drag 'n drop from there.

Restore selected report from biar file using biarengine.jar

Hi Experts,
I have created a biar file with full backup of my boe server using biar command line tool.
Now I want to test the biar by importing a selected report from that biar file. How should I form my properties file? Does the exportQuery property work when action=importXML ?

Hi,
I found that always the full backup is being restored if I execute biarengine.jar to restore the biar file and it ignores exportQuery parameter.
What I did to restore a selected report from that biar file is as below:
1. Change the extension of the biar file to .zip.
2. Extract the files.
3. In the BusinessObjects.xml file, keep only those infoobjects which has to be restored and delete all other infoobjects.
4. Zip the files.
5. Change the extension of the zip file to .biar.
6. Execute biarengine.jar to restore the objects.
I checked and found that by this way, I can restore a selective object from the biar file.
Just wanted to know if this is a recommended approach or not. Can there be any issue later ?
