"Unable to send mail" using Verizon email account

No matter what I try, my Incredible will not send an email using my Verizon email account. I receive emails but cannot send. I've verified the account settings numerous times and the verifications always work. But I still get the "Unable to send mail" message. Initially I thought it was the port but I've tried both 25 and 587. Neither work. I know I've sent messages before but it's been a while. Anyone have any ideas?

I tried SSL with 25 and 587 (Verizon recommendation). Still no go.
BTW, there isn't any way to save the Mail size limit and Download options is there. Every time I go thru this I have to go back and set these up again.
Thanks again for your help.

  • My talk talk email account was set up by a helpful apple employee to only send mail using an iname account (it worked perfectly well before this). How do I undo this?

my talktalk email account was set up by a helpful apple employee at one of their shops to only send mail via an iname account.
It had worked perfectly well before.
I have tried but been unable to undo this. Help!

From the Mail menu bar, select
    Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Look for the unwanted SMTP (outgoing mail) account in the window that opens. Double-click it. Another window will open, showing a list of all the outgoing mail accounts. The unwanted one will be selected. Click the minus-sign button to delete it, then click OK.
If there's more than one unwanted account, repeat.

  • Unable to SEND mail using Activesync in Exchange 2010 server on iPhone or Windows Mobile 6.1

    Hi All,
We've been setting up a new SBS 2011 server for a client this week. Everything is working, except the staff have 4 x iPhones to connect with Exchange ActiveSync.
There are 2 x iPhone 4's and 2 x iPhone 3Gs's. We can setup the Exchange accounts on each of the phones and they are all able to sync mail and calender etc with the server.
The problem we have is when any of them try to send mail from the phone, it gives an error : "Cannot Send Mail - An error occurred while delivering this message" and it sits in the outbox on the phone.
The newsgroups and forums are littered with people having issues with IOS4 and Exchange 2010 but most of these are from June-August 2010 when IOS4 version was around 4.00 or 4.01
A lot of these people had iPhone 3 handsets running with IOS 3.1.3 which worked with Exchange 2010 but when they upgraded to IOS 4, they had this problem sending mail.
It seems that for most of them, the fix came in the form of IOS version 4.1 which fixed the send issue for them.
We have a variety of Hansets and IOS versions (including an iPhone 3Gs running IOS 3.1.3) but are unable to send mail from any of them:
    iPhone 3Gs    IOS 3.1.3
    iPhone 3Gs    IOS 4.3.3
    iPhone 4       IOS 4.3.3
    iPhone 4       IOS 4.3.5
I was surprised that the iPhone 3Gs running 3.1.3 was unable to send either as nearly all the forums etc I read with this issue said the iPhone 3's worked with that IOS version.
Today we used a test iPhone 4 handset from our office to connect to an almost identical Small Business Server 2011 we setup two weeks ago for another client.
The test iPhone 4 was able to connect, Sync and Send email on that server but when set it to connect to this SBS 2011 server, it gets the "Cannot Send Mail" message the same as the others. So clearly the handset is working (on the other server at least),
it must be something misconfigured in this Exchange server right?
We ran the Exchange Remote Connectivity Analyser on the Exchange server and got green ticks across the board.
Outlook Web App and Outlook Anywhere both work normally. Everything we can test on the Exchange server works except sending from any iPhone.
Having said all that, I just setup a Windows Mobile 6.1 handset to sync with the Exchange 2010 server as a test, and it appears to have the same issue.
It will connect & Sync Mail, Contacts and Calendar but if trying to send an email from the phone, it will just sit in the outbox.
Does anyone have some insight into what the problem may be?

Further to this .. I found the solution on a MS Exchange 2010 support forum.
It was not a certificate or firewall issue, looks as thought the “Accepted Domains” in Exchange Mgmt Console –
Org Config – Hub Transport cannot have any spaces in the name field.
I had some spaces and the emails were not downloading fully and able to send. Once I removed the spaces from the Name field and
restarting the Exchange and IIS services emails were now being sent and received ok.

  • MAIL - click REPLY, Mail uses different email account to send reply

    MBP Early 2011
    4 GB Memory 2.3 i5
    10.7.5
    Hi.
When I click reply in MAIL the from field gets filled with one of my other account emails. I want the from email address to be the same as the original address the other person used. I get the drop down window to decide which account to use. But MAIL always picks the same less used account to fill the field. I have looked and can't find the way to fix this.
The "send new message from" box has the proper email/account highlighted. Mail still uses one of my other accounts/emails -- mind you it is always the same account it uses.

One option you can do is to rename the plist file, which keeps track of your mail options. It's possible it's corrupt and not recognizing your change. The downside is you may have to enter your mail account information and options again.
If you want to try it, close the mail application. Go to "your user name"/library/preferences and find com.apple.mail.plist . Hold down the alt key, click on it, and rename it, perhaps to com.apple.mail.oldplist. Restart mail, which will create a new plist file. Go into Preferences and on the composing tab set it to what you want.  If that now works, you can erase the file you renamed, or just leave it there if you want.

  • Problem sending email using Verizon email account in iPhone

I am having the exact problem as in this archived thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1266840
    I get an error:
"Cannot Send Mail, the sender address was invalid."
I am using an original iPhone with the latest software. I believe the problem started with the 2.0 or 2.1 update.
Even before coming here, I had noticed that the authentication under advanced was set to "MD5 Challange-response" rather than "password".
No matter how many times I change to "password" it doesn't stick, and of course the mail does not send.
How can I get the correct setting to stick, or am I doing something else wrong?

Thanks for the response. I see based on your response that I had not been changing the outgoing method of authentication.
I found the outgoing mail authentication where you said it would be.
I have the same problem though, I can change it from "MD5 Challange-response" to Password, but the change does not "stick".
As soon as I leave the "page" and go back to it, the authentication has changed back to "MD5 Challange-response".
I checked my friends iPhone 3g (I have an original with the latest software) who also has verizon, and his phone is set to password.
On his smtp server page, authentication shows as "password" without even clicking on "authentication". My smtp page shows nothing next to authentication, I need to click on that to go to the next page to then see it has switched back to "MD5 Challange-response".
Another oddity is his phone lists server port as 25, mine lists as 587. I tried changing mine to 25, but nothing changed, my authentication would not "stick" at password, and outgoing mail still did not send.
Any help appreciated as sending e-mail from the phone is very important to me.

  • How to set up my iphone to send mail on verizon pop account

I have a Verizon account. I can receive mail on my iPhone just fine, but I can't send mail from it. I tried putting the user name and password under outgoing mail and still nothing. Any suggestions???

If Verizon's SMTP server does not support authentication, using authentication will not work.
Do you have a wireless network at home that you access via WiFi with the iPhone (connected to the internet via Verizon) and if so, does this occur when connected via WiFi or when connected via EDGE or both?
First thing to try is using 587 as the server port for Verizon's SMTP server.
    Go to Settings > Mail.
Select your Verizon account and under Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) in the Host Name field (which is Verizon's SMTP server address), add 587 to the address separated by a colon.
As an example only since I don't know Verizon's SMTP server address:
    smtp.verizon.com:587
And the User Name and Password fields should be blank if Verizon does not support SMTP authentication.
If this doesn't work when connected via the EDGE network, AT&T Wireless has an SMTP server you can use to send messages with the account.

  • Mail using wrong email account as default

I have two email accounts in Mail.  The main one and a Google email.  Sometimes, when I write a fresh email, it chooses the Gmail account rather than the main account and I accidentally send email out via the wrong account.  Why is mail not using the default account for outgoing email and how can I make it?

    How is this set?

  • Problems sending mail using my .me account

Hi, I just started using Lion and my mail (mobileme account) freezes when sending mail. Do I need to change the settings in the mail preferences pane?

You don't need any of that socket factory stuff. See the JavaMail FAQ for a simpler way
to do it. See also the smtpsend.java demo program for a simple way to switch between
using SSL and not using SSL.

  • Mailx command unable to send mail to internal email server

    Hi,
I am trying to send mail from my shell program registered as concurrent request in R12 its working fine for external server like (gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc) but when Im trying to send mail to internal mail within organization it fails. It does'nt error out though. Our dba has been working on the same but no luck. Any inputs will be of great help.
echo "Mail"|mailx -s "Test Mail from DEV" "[email protected]" ( fails within internal domain)
echo "Mail"|mailx -s "Test Mail from DEV" "[email protected]" ( successfully sends mail within external domain)
I tried disabling the dns resolution for public sites in the configuration file (/etc/resolve.conf) but no luck. Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,
    Ahmed

Thanks Koushik for your prompt reply. You mean the configuration file /etc/resolve.conf right? Here you go. If I comment all the below lines the mail does not work even for external sites as well.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------resolve.conf-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    search companymaildomain.com
    nameserver aa.aa.aaa.a
    nameserver bbb.bb.bb.b
Here first line has the company domain
second and third line is the ip address of primary and secondary dns server
    Thanks,
    Ahmed

  • Cannot send mail from yahoo email account.

I recently developed a problem with sending messages through the ipad mail app. The primary server is Yahoo! SMTP Server with the SSL use on and port 465 open. However the hostname isn't specific. Just says "Yahoo! SMTP Server". I can't access it to change it so I made a second one below it as outbound.att.net because on AT&T website they changed the smtp settings. The outgoing mail port # is still the same...465 and I read online to change to 25 if the account is a business yahoo email but mine isn't and the ipad froze on me while attempt to verify. Can someone help me sort this out? I only have this issue when I'm on the actual data plan and I'm on the go.

Not sure about yahoo, but for gmail, I done the following:
Set up using Exchange on iPhone, it'll keep prompting for password.  On PC use captcha option, log in to gmail account from PC after completingg captcha option, enter password on iPhone.
See how that goes for gmail, let us know.
Hopefully someone will have fix for yahoo.

  • Won't send mail using Yahoo Business Account

Since the 3.1.2 update, I can no longer send outbound mail with my Yahoo business account. This was a problem a while ago, but was fixed with an update. The latest update breaks it again.

Are you using BT-Yahoo or just Yahoo?
If you have been using BT-Yahoo, note that they have, in 2014, changed some users to BT mail through My BT and no longer use Yahoo - see BT Help online

  • Unable to send mails to some emails through wfmailer

    Hi All,
there is a request from client asking to receive mails which are not registered at application level
    there is a doubt here
are mail only sent to users who are registered at application level(in fnd_users) or can be sent to users even if they are not application users.
    situation at client end:
they have a local server(mail server) which is only accessible internally.
i have configured wfmailer for them and for all users who are registered at application level they are receiving mails
to some users they are not able to receive mails (these are not registered users)
but user says although they are not registered users few email addresses they are able to receive mails through wfmailer
is there a way to configure email address from back end or at application level
should the email address be registered at local server(mail server)
one more thing to ask can we configure wfmailer for  two instances for same mail server. or does it have to be only one wfmailer for each mail server?
are there any tables which gives such information?
please share any sql or note id for same
    environment:
    application:R12.1.3
    linux x86X64
    db:11.1.0.7
    thanks

Can i revert back to IOS5.1.1?????

Contact your email provider and get the correct settings to use for the outgoing mail server (SMTP) on a mobile device. If it's email provided by your ISP, they have likely blocked email from outside their network from relaying to prevent spam.
