I just changed my plan last week to include texting. however I am unable to send or receive any messages When I send  It reports message failed

I'd be lost without my text messaging! Let's get this up and running for you. Were you able to text before the plan change? Are there any other Verizon Wireless customers having the same issue? Also, what type of device do you have?

    I use text messages on a daily basis to keep in touch with friends and family so I understand how important it is to get this resolved. How long have you had this issue? What zip code are you located in? Do you receive an error when sending a message? Are you using a third party messaging application? If so, please remove and retry with the stock messaging application. Please share additional details so I can better assist.

  • Unable to send or receive texts and calls

    For nearly two weeks I've been unable to send or receive texts and calls I have tried resetting my phone deleting existing call / text convos and taking the sim out of my phone 4g internet still works but nothing else I'm using an iPhone 6. Why can't I send or receive anything?

    Have you tried the SIM in a different phone?
    Also have you tried a network reset?
    Note: Resetting the network settings will clear all WiFi passwords and refresh device network connections.
    From the home screen, tap Settings.
    Scroll down to, then tap General.
    Scroll down to, then tap Reset.
    Tap Reset Network Settings.
    Tap Reset Network Settings to confirm.
    Note: If a security code is enabled, this will need to be entered between steps 4 and 5.

  • Unable to send or receive text messages after updating iOS to 7.0.2

    I am unable to send or receive text messages aftering updating to iOS 7.02. I have an iPhone 4S. I have run all the suggested troubleshooting still can't text. I have been to my carrier, AT&T, there is no issue with my account. AT&T suggested resetting the phone to factory defaults (thereby wiping it clean). I am trying to avoid that as I had issues with transferring data & contacts before. Any one have a work around?

  • Unable to send or receive text messages after apply s/w update on Q10

    After apply software release 10.1.0.4181 (size 6mb) on my Q10, I can no longer send or receive text messages, pls help. At first I thought the text messages were only collapsed, but I am unable to send, receive or open any previous chat. I have rebooted the device multiple times, including removing the battery. When trying to do a text message, system seems stuck on the last message received yesterday, and am unable to open this chat session, reply, compose. I cannot compose for any contact, nor able to receive any text messages. PLs help !!

    I removed my battery again, this time left out for 5 minutes. SMS is now working again. (previously approx 2 min)
    However, the problem I was experincing, I have had before, where I cannot send an sms message. I believe I may have hit a hot key and basically does not allow you to send a message. Typically I reboot at this point and sms works again. I will try your new os option after I verify all is working properly again.  Thank you for your help.

  • Unable to send or receive text from another iphone after updating ver 7.02

    Before updating ver 7.02 I was able to send and receive text to any cell phone. After updating to ver 7.02 can no longer send nor receive any text from any iphone 4 or iphone 5. Can send and receive to/from an old iphone 3 and to any non-iphone but not iphone 4 or 5. Tried updating iTunes then restore phone from backup, no change. Deleted apps that were no longer being used and transferred all my pictures on phone to a folder on computer then deleted then out of iTunes. Tried restoring again, once again no change.
      Not having any idea what else to try, went to AT&T store for help. Pretty much got a shrug of the shoulders with the response of yep, a lot of texting problems after 7.02 update. No help at all.
    Anybody else have or had this issue? If yes,  what did you find causing the problem?

    Thanks for the response. I tried so many things forgot to list that I did try turning off iMessage, reset network and turned network back on- no change. Also forgot to mention it's my wife's phone, I'm more old school. If I need to talk to somebody, I just call since I already have a phone in my hand. That's my solution to the problem but she doesn't think so. LOL. Also tried hard restarting several times, didn't make any difference. I am still fiddling around with it, if I come up with anything I will post it.

  • Repeated "Call Failed" and unable to send or receive Texts or VMs

    Please Help Me:
    I have a beloved iPhone 3G and it has been no problem for the year and a half that I have owned it. Until last week...
    All of a sudden I am periodically getting repeated "Call Failed" screens when I attempt to make an outgoing call. Not once or twice but for hours at a time, I cannot call out or receive calls-in, nor can I send or receive text messages.
    Sometimes it will click-back-in (whatever that means) and I will suddenly get three voice messages and texts from my wife saying, "Where are you and why is your phone going straight to VM???"
    What did I do to troubleshoot?
    1. When I power off and power back on my phone it sometimes starts to work again.
    2. If I do a Home Button plus Power Off it works, until it "clicks off" again.
    3. I called AT&T support, they checked for network outages and there are none.
    4. I took the sim card out and blew-in it (a la Nintendo-HA!)
    5. I updated it. I hadn’t updated it since March. This took a while, because I kept getting an error (2003) message. But eventually, I completely UPDATED IT and RESTORED THE PHONE. I now have 4.0.2 on my iPhone and iTunes 9.2.1.
    6. It looked like the update/restore worked but then it started happening again.
    7. The problem is not local, i.e. it happens to me not in just one area but on the road, at home, at my office, out of my home area, etc.
    I’d prefer to only have to buy a new cell phone every two or two and a half years, rather than on an annual basis. I do not have an extended warranty or AppleCare.
    Does anyone know of any other hard-fix for this.
    I’m willing to take a gamble, because I know the next step is to go to AT&T and they’re just going to tell me I need a new phone (likely the same for an Apple Store as well).
    The rest of the phone is working fine. Even when getting Call Failed, I still can use the Internet and other applications.
    My phone connects properly to my PC (Windows XP) and my bars and network connection appear to be accurate, meaning that I’m not getting zero bars when the Call Failed screen appears.
    Any help, insight, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

    Alright, it's fixed:
    Switching Airplane Mode and/or "Show My Caller ID" OFF and ON or vice versa did work momentarily, particularly the Airplane Mode.
    HOWEVER, I read someone's post on another website about disabling 3G!
    Just recently my area received 3G (I know Pennsyltucky). So maybe the turnover had some effect on my phone. (AT&T did not admit to that when I called but...)
    Anyways, go to Settings > General > Network > switch "Enable 3G" to OFF
    It has worked for 24 hours, so keeping my fingers crossed.
    Please note that this may only be a fix for the older 3G iPhones (I bought mine new right when the 3GS was released). Plus, our area just received 3G networking.
    Hope this helps someone else.

    SMS/MMS, which are true text messages (not iMessage) are a carrier function. You need to contact the carrier and have them check your account to see if you have a SMS/MMS plan on your account.

    Hi. My husband gave me his Blackberry for a day so I could send emails from his phone. We switched our sim cards since we have the same carrier. While I had his phone and when we switched back, the phone would not send or recieve text messages. Help! We've tried rebooting, taking sim in and out. The service book for MMS is active. Thanks.

    Text Not Delvered on a few contacts on my iPhone 5.  deleted contacted and added it back in.  Same error.  rebooted phone, disable imessage, reset phone all settings.  same issue.  Contacts can't even text me.

    I deleted the contact from my phone, waited an hours and tried to send to the phone number, which is not an Iphone,  same issue.  I can call him with no problem.

    I have a Droid 2 Global and the text messaging is not working. Whenever I try to send a text I get a message that it has not been sent. I also asked a friend to text me, and the text did not come through. I tried rebooting the phone (removing the battery and such), but that was to no avail.     Wow that must be very inconvenient! Do you know when you last able to send or receive a successful message? Are you able to send and receive e-mails? Is it possible you have a message blocking feature on your account? Are you using a third party messaging app or the standard messaging application from the handset?
