Unable to send out mails from Solaris 10 Server
We are in the process of migrating all our Solaris 8 servers to Solaris 10 servers. I have installed core distribution of Solaris 10 with only ssh running and few additional packages such as SUNWntp etc. which do not come with Core. I do not want to run sendmail daemon, but be able to send out emails from this host. I tried adding smart host DS entry in /etc/mail/sendmail.cf - I tried both hand editing of this file and compiling a new one to hardcode smarthost entry -. But mailing works only when sendmail daemon is running otherwise, I am unable to sendout mails. Can you please share your knowledge to resolve this issue.
Thanks,
Karthik
I use /etc/mail/aliases file and I do not run sendmail on any of my servers.
I have an entry for root aliased to <my.email.address>,<my.coworker.email.address> so any system messages are sent to us at our corp email addresses. Our servers are setup to use corporate DNS which includes entries for corp. mail servers.

This method worked for Solaris8. I'm having somedifficulty making it work for Solaris10. We have no mailhost definition in DNS, so I'm not sure if that is why this does not work or is there something specific to Solaris10 that prevents me from using the method I describe earlier.
If I caused you extra work/confusion because of my earlier post, my apologies.

Why am I unable to send e mails from my iPhone, and get message rejected by server and message put in outbox. I have tried changing server ports but to no avail. I am not very technically minded so any suggestions in laymans terms please. This is a big problem as I work away frequently and need to answer e mails. This also happens when at home and on my own wifi.

E72- Unable to send e-mail from work mailbox
I am unable to send e-mails from my work e-mail through my E72 although it receives perfectly. I have been in contact with Nokia via e-mail for the last 2 weeks and they have sent several suggestions to solve the issue but nothing is working. I have set-up my work e-mail on my husbands Blackberry with the same settings and can receive and send perfectly. From that I conclude there is no issue with the settings I have or my work e-mail but with
Nokia!! The latest 'help' I have received was to download a patch but I have no idea how to do this and get it onto my phone. So far Nokia have not replied to me.
Any suggestions how to get this to work would be greatly appreciatedIf you're using a much older firmware, updating the phone would be a good idea. Find the Software Updates section of nokia.com and type your phone model. If you can't do an over-the-air update, download and install either the OVI Suite or the standalone Software Updater. This may hard reset the phone, so back up anything important with OVI Suite first.
Ignoring firmware for now, IMAP and URL's are like apples and oranges. If you work for a small company, the server may always be called " mail.mycompany.com", but IMAP will never use an HTTP or HTTPS prefix. URL's are typically associated with Microsoft Exchange servers. Within the email program, check Options -> Settings -> Mailbox settings -> Mailbox settings -> Advanced mailbox settings. Are "Outgoing email settings" set to something like
User authentication: Same as for incoming
Outgoing mail server: <compare to the setting for the Incoming server name; in a small company this will likely be the same>
Since you're getting far enough for the mail sever to reject your connection, the other settings should be fine as-is.
It does look like an authentication issue, so I'd say you're either hitting the wrong server or there's a bad username or password in there somewhere. If the Blackberry works with an IMAP connection, then you should be using the same server name(s), and user/password.
If all else fails, you can always try removing and readding the mailbox completely. Choose Menu -> Applications -> Email -> Settings -> <highlight your work account> -> Options -> Remove mailbox. And then set it up from scratch. I hope that helps a little! -
I am unable to send e-mails from my Outlook
Everything was working ok, for ages. Suddenly I am unable o send e-mails from my Outlook.
"The message I get is: 'Unable to send the message. Please verify the e-mail Address in your account properties'.
When I 'Send a Test Message' from Outlook, Tools, Accounts. All actions are completed besides sending a test message when I also get the instruction.Hi
If it happened suddenly so possibly it was a virus?
I dont know why you are not able to send the e-mails.
I think you should check the email account properties. Check the data of you POP3 and SMTP server.
Im not a outlook expert but this options should be found somewhere in the email account properties.
The last possibility would be deleting of the email account under outlook and then a new creation of the new account. -
When I send out mail from MS Outlook enterprise account in the office to my Mac at home they are received as "winmail.dat" files. Even if I perform a "save as" to the correct file name the file format is still not recognized. Why is this happening!?

just recently i am unable to send any sort of e mails from my i phone using my aol e mail account. I am unable to forward pics to others via e mail. It simply will not allow, when i have always been able to before.
We took our MacBook Pro to the apple store, after a long trial and error, they FIXED the problem!
It turns out that one of the files was corrupt, it was either Java or Silverlight.
My suggestion to you is to remove Java than restart and then reinstall Java. See if hotmail works. If not, than, remove Silverlight reboot than reinstall Silverlight.
For us, it was one of those two files that were corrupt and that was causing hotmail to not be able to send email.
I'm not sure what the procedure is to remove and reinstall files, all I know is that my wives MacBook can now send email using hotmail.
Hope this helps.

Problem to send e-mails from bo server
Hi!!!
I want to send some webi reports from my bo server to a email addres, but it show me the following message:
address error. [Error sending address(es) to SMTP server. Return code: [SMTP 550 - Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable.]. Reason: [email addres].]: [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]
Can you help me please??
Ruddy AlvaradoWe are facing the same issue
server error. [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]: [Error initializing SMTP server. Return code: [TCP send failed.]. Reason: [XXXX.XXXX.XXXX:25].]
- I tried with FQDN, IP address of SMTP server
- I was able to send e-mail to myself from command line useing telnet xxxxx.xxx.xxx 25 (so that means port 25 is open and communication is happening between BO servers to SMTP server
- No firewalls on BO servers (2008 VMware)
- Antivirus has been disabled on these servers (just to see if that is blocking anything)
What else I can check with my SMTP admin.
Anybody here has any ideas? Appreciate your inputs.

Hi guys
I need to develop a program which monitors the error mails from SOST and forward the same mails to some other email.
is it possible technicaaly.
this is very urgent please let me know if there any possible solutions
Thanks in advanceHi Kittu,
The details you want to see through SOST transaction are possible with Tcode SOSV.
There is one more simple way to know the status of the the Mails along with Sender and receiver information.
SE16-> table SOST-> Field MSGTY (Status of the Mail S/ E)
SE16 --> SOOS ---> It will contain the Sender & Receiver Information as per the the Object No & Object Type.
Please let me know if you need any more information.
regards,
vikas.
plz reward if helpful.. -

Hi,
I am trying to send external mail from EBP server through the function module SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1. I have passed similar kind of values to the parameter which I have used for R/3 while using the same function module. In R/3 server the function module is working fine but not in EBP. I am new in EBP. Does this function module work fine in EBP ? If not can someone provide me any Function Module name through which I can send external mail ?
Thanks in advance,
AchirangshuHi,
Try the FM "SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1".

Smtp "offline" message, unable to send e-mails
I am unable to send e-mails from my Mac Mail. Receiving is no problem. I was just online with my internet/email server, did everything they told me to, which didn't solve the problem; they told me to contact Mac.
I did all the usual things, as recommended on the Mac website under "can't send e-mails". I was told by the Telus agent to select port #25 to be the custom port, which I did. I keep getting the SMTP offline notice in the "cannot send message" box. the "Doctor" tells me that trying to log-in to this account failed, verify username and password (which I did).
Any help would be appreciated!
ThanksHi
I've had a mac for years (10.5.8) and Telus for one year and this just happened two days ago to me too.
Would you believe all I had to do was remove the server settings and then re-enter them! Check the Telus website for the instructions. Mail sends no problem now!
Here's how I figured it out: .
I used the report within the mac server settings once the error occured and copied the text in order to review. I found this strange caption:
READ Jun 23 20:51:51.885 [kCFStreamSocketSecurityLevelNone] -- host:smtp.telus.net -- port:25 -- socket:0x145cf7f0 -- thread:0x145ce2f0
554 edmwcm02 bizsmtp ESMTP server not available, your ip is balcklisted by spamhaus. Go to http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=70.69.240.140
SO I went to their website and it suggested to check to box for stmp authentication for a quick fix. So I checked with the Telus instructions on their site and it said NOT TOO - so don't. Its sounds like spam glue!
Long story, Macs rock, everything you need is there, just think and you can use it allot easier and more to suceed than windows. -
I can't send e-mails from my hotmail account with my Macbook
Please help, I've noticed recently that I am unable to send e-mails from my hotmail account from my Macbook. I was able to send e-mails today from work (non-macbook). It's getting stressful as I have no idea what to do!

When I send a mail from my iPhone, it displays the mail server name to the receiver if the mail and does not display my name or e mail address. This only since upgrading my iPhone5 to iOS7. I've checked all settings etc. anyone have a solution please?

You need a separate email address but you've already ruled out that solution. -
all of a sudden I am not able to send out mail. I have checked and rechecked my account information including incoming and outgoing server info. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks
If you're having trouble sending mail, then either the SMTP (outbound) mail server settings — the server, the port, the user, the password, and whether SSL is in use or (unlikely) not — are incorrect, or the mail server is offline or has been reconfigured.
The SMTP (outbound) settings are in Preferences, but are buried rather deeply. Select Preferences > Accounts > select the account > switch the outgoing mail server (SMTP) to Edit SMTP Server List... and then select the SMTP server from the list, and verify that the settings are correct with your ISP, and that your username and password are correct.
The required settings vary by your particular mail ISP; you'll have to check with the ISP for the server and login details.
To test settings, select Window > Connection Doctor > then (when the tests fail) show the details, and (if you can't sort out what happened) sanitize the settings and post the output here.
Caveat: do not repeat password tests with the mail server, as various mail providers can be configured to assume these are a password brute-force attack, and lock out repeated login attempts.
Caveat: never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever not-at-all enter a password when Mail pops up a dialog box with the "OMG YOUR PASSWORD IS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE ENSURE YOU CANNOT LOG IN AGAIN!!!!!" dialog box. (I'm paraphrasing that error dialog box slightly.) The correct answer to that Mail.app password dialog box is almost always "cancel" button. Passwords stored in Keychain generally don't get lost or corrupted, and trying random passwords as that dialog box encourages just gets you locked out of various servers, and...
