Unable to send text and play music after upgrading to IOS 6.1

After upgrading to IOS 6.1, I am having problems sending text messages (sms) to several of the contacts to whom I was able to send text earlier. Also all the songs I have downloaded previously from iStore have all stopped playing. Being a new IPhone convert I am seriously regretting why I got rid of my Blackberry

I can understand how you are upset, MJ406. I want to make sure that we do everything we can to get the text messages up and running with out any kind of problems.
When you are trying to send these text messages out are you connected to Wi-Fi or the cell network? If you are connected to wi-fi please do me a favor and turn of the wi-fi, try to send a text to see if it goes out without any kind of issues. Then go into Settings, Application Manager, Slide the screen to the ALL section, Scroll to Messaging and perform a force stop, clear cache, and clear data. Once that is done, power the device off and then turn back on. Once it is back up and running you can turn the wi-fi back on (if you had to turn it off) and retry sending a text message again.

Unable to change tracks on my stereo after upgrading to iOS 6

After upgrading to iOS 6 yesterday I've noticed a problem playing my music through Bluetooth on my Alpine car stereo. It still plays but I am unable to change tracks with the stereo, I have to manually do it on my iPhone. This is a problem, any ideas?

I spoke to a rep at Alpine today. They are aware that there are major issues with the release of iOS 6 and ALL their products. The said they will have to do a firmware update and he had no idea when that would be available.
Not good as I bought a new unit yesterday ! It workd great driving home and this morning no iPhone interface would function properly. I updated my OS last night. And I cannot go back to OS 5 I am told by Apple people.
I love Apple products but I must say I do not like their "we know best" attitude when it comes to deciding what OS I should run on my iPhone. I would much rather have OS 5 and let my iPhone work with my stereo.
Hopefully this firmware update will not take too long but I know there is no way it will be right away. The Alpine rep said his phone started ringing off the hook at 8 am from Alpine techs all over the country !
So clearly this was news to them.

IPhone and iHome Compatibility after upgrading to IOS 5

I have an iPhone 4 which I recently upgraded to ios 5. Prior to upgrading I was able to charge the phone on the iHome. After the upgrade, it doesn't work. I tried re-setting the phone, the iHome - at first this worked and let it charge. Now it doesn't charge - still plays music fine. The phone does charge with the adapter in the wall as well as an adapter for the car which charges and plays music over the airwaves.
I upgraded my phone first and had the above. My wife has the same iPhone 4 - same thing - charged and played music fine prior to upgrading. Now it doesn't charge but plays music fine.
So, what's the deal? Any suggestions or is this a result of a problem with the upgrade softwar which needs to be fixed?

My WiFi connection works fine, but 4G from ATT gives in 0.15 mpbs download. I called up ATT several times, but they have no resolution to this problem. Everytime they ask me to reset my network connection. This is a big deal for me as I am most of the time on Cellular Data and I need to use iPhone for my work. I am thinking to roll back to iOS 5.0.1. What in this world could turn a 3G phone into a 4G phone just by a software upgrade? I just feel like I am down to a 1G phone. Apple please fix this asap and release a patch, else I may not be able to use this phone.

IPhone 4S wont sync music after upgrading to iOS 7 on windows 7

After upgrading to iOS 7 on my iPhone 4S, I lost all my music.
When I try and sync (USB) with iTunes 11.1 (on Windows 7)
it hangs at the last step "waiting for changes to be applied" (step 5 of 5)
i am looking for weeks for a solution to this problem and i saw meny pepole suffer from it
but still i cannot find a way to fix it

You got it downloaded and I assume you mean it is installed as well. It was buggy for me.
I had to close and restarted iTunes before I could use it properly.
Then, I had to unplug and replug in my phone before it recognises it.
Just had to try everything. As final choice, update over the air. I try to avoid it as it tends to have more problems than a tethered update.

Lost my music after upgrading to iOS 8

After upgrading to ios 8 I lost all the music downloaded through iTunes (from ripping my CDs), on both iPhone 5 and iPad 3rd generation, except the music purchased online.

Hey Keisha, Are the photos in your iPhoto library on your computer? If so, you should be able to check the photos option in your iPod's summary page in iTunes and add then back. Hope this helps, Cheers.

After upgrade to iOs 5.1 my iPhone 4S makes no sound when arrives an email or a sms. Is it a bug??

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?

"Artists" category is missing on iPod Touch Music after "upgrading" to iOS 6

After "upgrading" my iPod Touch to the "latest and greatest" iOS 6, Music no longer has an "Artists" category. Instead, it's been replaced by a second "Albums" category. Yes, that's right - I now have two "Albums" buttons in Music, instead of an "Artists" button and an "Albums" button. Is this just a glitch on my device, or is this a bug in iOS 6? I don't see how something so obvious could have slipped through product development and testing.

That is probably a glitch. Try a hard reboot by holding down the home and power buttons at the same time until you see the black screen with the Apple logo. Then release the buttons. If that doesn't work, try restoring your iPod.

ITunes No Longer Plays Music after upgrade to 10.7.3

Since upgrading to Lion 10.7.3, music has stopped playing in iTunes. I double click on a tune, and it looks like it is playing but there is no sound and the little progress bar doesn't advance across the screen. I can play the tunes in the latest version of QT Player. Any idea what might be going on? I am running M-Audio studio monitors through a FocusRite Scarlett DA/AD USB converter box.

Well, after a complete re-start, the problem has gone away. Now I just need to sort out audio and video problems with Skype and FaceTime. But that's for another section of this board. Sorry for the false alarm.

External Hard Drive won't play music after upgrade

I have all my music and iTunes on an external hard drive and it worked great unitl I upgraded to iTunes 10. Now it says it can't play the music because it is from an earlier version of iTunes. PLEASE HELP!!

Same here, but I can play everything that I own, but can't play rentals. I think that is the reason because it is on an external hard drive. iTunes is to big for my MBP hard drive. Not sure what the problem is.

My 3gs headphones only play music after upgrade

the clicker on the headphone cable now does nothing since upgrading iphone 3gs to ios5 - any ideas why and how to fix this, they still alow music through.its definatley the upgrade.

You can try cleaning it with the shaft part of Q-tip.. Just make sure that you do not leave parts of the q-tip in the jack. However, the headphone jack does "break" sometimes and replacement is required. A third-party place like this one is less expensive than Apple since Apple will only exchange your iPOf for a fixed price depending upon the capacity.

I can't hear music after upgrade to ios 7.0.2 on Iphone 4

I upgraded my Iphone 4 to IOS 7.0.2.
Everything goes well, except for listen to music. When I plug in my headphone, I can hear music.
Normal call using loud speaker is OK.
I don't know if it a bug of ios 7.0.2 or my hardware problems ?

I tried hard reset by press both power and home button.
I can not hear music played through the speaker. Just music only.
The speaker workes well with imcomming call or out going call by turn on loud speaker.

Problems with conference calls(adding and merging calls) after upgrade to ios 8.1.2 on iphone 5s

I am having weird problem intermittently with adding calls or merging them or swapping them. The issue happens 8 out of 10 times whenever I try to do a conference call. This issue came up after I upgraded to 8,1.2. Never experienced this in 8.1.1 or previous version.
Some of the scenarios that I have experienced is:
1. While on the call, when I try to add a new contact, it just doesn't dial the second number.
2. Sometimes the second number gets dialed, cannot merge the calls.
3. After talking to the second person, cannot go back to the first call.
I am very sure that this is not a carrier issue as it worked flawlessly before upgrade.
Anyone experienced this before? Any suggestions?

Thanks for the above infromation. I did a complete restore of my iphone through iTunes connecting it to my computer via cable. iOS8.1.3 was re-installed. I then added back my settings and data which were backed up prior to restoring the phone. I still have the same issue with conferencing and adding a third caller. When I hit the [+] box, the existing caller is not put on hold. The phone appears to be making a call but it is not dialing to the 3rd party. Shortly thereafter, the Merge icon appears but there is no active call to merge with. I have tried this several times using my wife's iPhone and our home phone to set up a 3-way call. I know it is not working because the 3rd phone (our home phone) does not ring. Is this a hardware problem? My wife's iPhone 6 works with no problem and was purchased the same time I purchased my iPhone 6. Probably time for a visit to the Apple Store unless there is another solution.

HT4623 iPhone 4 (2011) very sluggish and battery issues after upgrading to iOS 7

Hi,
I am experiencing crazy sluggishness in my GSM iPhone 4 (2011 model) after recently upgradig to iOS 7.0.2 from 6.1.3. Phone's freezing every few seconds and when it does, you can't do any activitiy, keyboard will not respond, videos will freeze etc.
Top of it, the battery is drying up like nuts. It used to work for more than 24 hrs with same settings earlier, now hardly 7-8 hrs !!! ..... I turned off everything like background-app refresh, wireless, 3G, bunch of other things, infact not even keeping any apps running in background while not using, I immediately kill it as soon as I am done using it.
Am very badly stuck, biggest mistake of my life that I ugpraded to iOS 7
- Is anyone experiencing similar issues ?
- Is there any way I can go back to previous version ... is Apple still signing iOS 6.1.3 ? I don't have shsh blob backup of previous version.
Any thought is greatly appreciated.

Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

Also try a Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

IMessage and Facetime issues after upgrading to iOS 8

My husband has a Mac-book pro, and I have an iPhone 5C and an iPad (with retina display). I just upgraded my phone and iPad to ios8. Before, my husband and I were able to send messages back and forth with iMessage and he was able to call me on Facetime and now we cannot. I did not accept the iCloud drive on the phone and iPad, but I think he may have on his end. He is currently out of town so i wasn't able to tell him not to when it popped up. We do use the same Apple ID for iTunes and the computer, iPad and iPhone, however for iMessage and Facetime he has his own Apple ID. Is there any way I can fix this so we can talk again with the iMessage? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Problem with home button and "messages" app after upgrade to iOS 4.1

I have noticed two interesting problems with my iPhone 4. I am not sure if it is in conjunction with the upgrade to the iOS 4.1 software, but I did not notice the problem prior to this. Both of these problems are very odd and are hit or miss. I have tried restoring and the problem is still present. Also, since both problems have presented at the same time, that is why I am starting to believe it is not hardware...
Problem 1: The home button has become considerably unresponsive. This is not all the time, but it does happen a lot. Sometimes it won't work for about 5-8 clicks and I have to use the power button to access the phone.
Problem 2: When composing a new text message the cursor would always default into the "To:" section of the app which allows you to easily type what contact you are trying to message. However, I am having the issue now occasionally when I am in the messages app and select to compose a new text message that the cursor now defaults into the chat box (where you type your actual message). This is very annoying and I know that this is not the intended behavior of this.
Please let me know if anyone has experienced similar issues and can provide me with some feedback.

I have tried restoring and the problem is still present.
You restored from your iPhone's backup, or as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup?
If whatever software problem is causing this is included with your iPhone's backup, restoring from the backup will also restore the problem.
Try restoring as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup to see if this makes any difference. If not, more than likely your iPhone has a hardware problem.
