Unable to "Send to: Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project"

With a solo clip in its own sequence, I wanted to do some audio work in Soundtrack Pro. I control-clicked on the clip and selected "Send to." The option for Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project is grayed out, not allowing me to select it.
Any suggestions?

I figured out you can only do "one track" at a time and not multiple tracks. Once I Option clicked on the single track, it came back. Just FYI.

  • From FCP timeline...send to soundtrack pro audio file project is greyed out

The send to multi track is not greyed out but that's not what I need.
The stereo audio file is 48KHz and I have 7 tracks of audio in the sequence all of which are stereo except the VO track.
If I use "open in editor" to open a stereo file from the timeline soundtrack only imports one channel.
I'm trying to run these stero audio clips through STP using the waveform editor to quickly analyze and fix the "clicks and pops" also adding a low cut off filter to some of the clips to help eliminate some wind noise.
Seems the only way I can get it to work is to export each clip as an aiff file and then import it to STP, edit non destructively, save as a .stap file and then reimport that .stap file back into FCP........
Any ideas why the "send to STP audio file project" is greyed out? perhaps I have forgotten a preference setting somewhere?
    All help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dave

Hey, Dave. That can happen if you captured your files with two audio tracks instead of a single stereo track. The two channels will show up on two tracks, but they're not actually stereo in the quicktime file.
When you captured, did you click the "OO" button next to the audio channels to link them to stereo? You can look at the contents of the quicktime file with Quicktime Player and see if you've got one audio track with two channels assigned to "left" and "right". If you have some other configuration in the file, check out these old threads for workarounds, or recapture if that's an option.

  • No Video when using the "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" Command

    Hello FCP Users,
After reading and rereading the FCP and STP manuals and scouring the boards; I still can not figure out how to view my video clip while I'm editing/sweetening audio in STP. I have even used the DVD tutorial in an attempt to figure it out (all works fine and good with the tutorial example), but I'm stuck here the real world.
I'm thinking their must be some preference setting somewhere in STP that I've missed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Best regards,
    Jeff
    From the Manual:
Soundtrack Pro creates a new audio file project (with the file type .stap) for the clip. The clip can contain video and audio or contain only audio.
In the Final Cut Pro Timeline, Control-click the clip, then choose “Send To >
Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project” from the shortcut menu."

    Rob,
The audio consists of two separate audio tracks A1 is from a lav mic and A2 is from an on-camera mic.
    It was captured DV.
If I rt click the video clip in the "video tl" the "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" in the dialog box is grayed out/not available for selection, but the Send To Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Program is available to select.
If I choose to Send To Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Program I get the following an error message: Error sending selection to Soundtrack Pro.
I've tried de-selecting the "linked selection" in the tl and rt click the audio clip in the "audio tl" and that allows me to "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" , but no video in the utility window of STP.
If I select the "linked selection" in the tl and rt click the audio clip in the "audio tl" the "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" in the dialog box is grayed out/not available for selection, but the Send To Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Program is available to select.
If I choose to Send To Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Program I get the following an error message: Error sending selection to Soundtrack Pro.
It looked all so simple in the tutorial. I'm going on five hours of trying to find an answer to this issue any other suggestions before I slit my wrists? Thanks for your input.

  • Cannot use the Send to Soundtrack Pro Audio File Command

I cannot use the Send to Soundtrack Pro Audio File Command, only the Multitrack and it's starting to really get on my nerves. It is unhiglighted. If I unlink the clip and select only half of the audio, the option re-appears. I have no idea what is wrong.

As an audio file, you can only send one clip at a time. This is a feature, not a bug. See the book for more information.

  • Unable to send to Soundtrack Pro

I am attempting to export an audio clip to Soundtrack Pro using FCP 6.0.3. I control click the clip in the Browser and scroll down to, "Send to", but the option which I need (Soundtrack Pro Multitrack project) is grayed out and I am unable to send the clip. I am sure that I am missing a setting somewhere but I am unable to figure out which one. Thanks.

I have tried taking it from the timeline with the same result. This was a Volume installation so the original install disc is somewhere else.

  • Soundtrack pro audio files with software

Im missing sound audio files. When I follow along with the lessons in Lynda.com the teacher shows something like 5011 files for audio and I have 2500. I did it step by step as he show to reset everything and still it finds only 2500 of the audio files. Im missing the audio files that the lesson is loading up for the lesson. Anyone know why I am missing the files? Where can I get the rest of them? Im missing all the audio files that start with the lettter A under instruments and bass loop. I have 78 and the lesson shows 306 I think. Thanks in advance.

Make sure you are indexing all of your Apple Loops folders. Do a spotlight search on Apple loops, and sort by type, to see the folders.
My main Apple Loops folder is in Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro, but I also have others for GB (some dupes) and others I have purchased in other folders.
Click Setup... to see your directories, then the + to add a directory, or select a directory and click Index now to re-index it.
If all of that fails, I think all of the loop content is on the install disks, but I don't know a way to get it without completely reinstalling.
OH, BTW, you're using the same version of STP as the Lynda.com tutorial, yes?

  • Can I export my Soundtrack Pro audio files, including the video?

I'm new to soundtrack pro 2, could I export my audio files including the video?
I tried, but all i get was audio...
    thanks!

Export -> Master Mix - choose the File Type -> *Using Compressor*, this will give you options for re-encoding or preserving the video file.

  • Problem sending to soundtrack pro

I am using FCP 5.1.4 and in my timeline I have a clip with bad audio that i want to clean up in soundtrack. I right-click the file and go to "send to.." "soundtrack pro audio file" is greyed out, but the multitrack option is not, so i tried the multitrack option. In soundtrack i cannot set noise print or anything in the multitrack file. If i disconnect the right and left channels I can send them one at a time to soundtrack and clean them up, but that is too time consuming after a while. How can I send a stereo file, clean up the noise, and have it appear in FCP? I know i have done it before, but for some reason it will not work now.
    Thank you for your help.

Okay... so now it's not working again.
This was after getting the message:
    Unable to render file
    when I tried to normalize.
Then STP froze up on me and I had to force quit.
Resent from FCP, then tried to double click on a track to open it up, and STP crashed on me.
This is about the 5th crash I've had this evening in STP.
Not sure what the problem is... maybe I need to re-install the OS. But that's not going to happen tonight.
Would be nice to know if others are having this problem or if it is just me?

  • Operation Not Allowed When Sending to Soundtrack Pro

    Hi
I have a problem with FCP. I have a clip named
    main service.dv
When i try to Send To > Soundtrack Pro Audio Project, in the Save dialog, i tick Send only referenced media, and latest metadata... but when i hit Save, an "Operation not allowed" dialog appears. The file is saved, and I can open it in Soundtrack Pro, but its not associated back with FCP.
    Thanks.

The footage was already captured before coming to me. I have nearly completed my project, now just needed STP to get rid of an electrical buzz on a clip.
It's still a bad workflow by definition, "operation not allowed" means you canto proceed without some kind of workaround. You do not need STP to remove a simple 60Hz. But you will need advanced audio processing tools to augment the 60Hz removal if the rest fo the track has lots of content in that freq.

  • Soundtrack Pro Crashes when opening Audio File Project

I am just starting to use Soundtrack Pro 2 with FCP 6. When I try to send an Audio File Project from FCP, Soundtrack Pro starts up, then closes. If I try to open the Audio File Project within Soundtrack Pro the program closes. Any Suggestions? Thanks.

In trying workarounds, I exported the clip as a movie from FCP then tried to open it in Soundtrack Pro. STP closed. I also tried opening the (sent).stap file that FCP generated, and Soundtrack Pro closed again. Also, STP does not give me the error window saying the program closed unexpectedly and do I want to report it. It just stops. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot.

  • Missing audio when sending to Soundtrack Pro

I have a sequence that I'm sending to Soundtrack Pro. It sends and opens but I notice that there is audio missing from sections where I have .motn elements in my timeline. The audio is there in FCP...
Is there a solution to this?

Turns out the audio needed to be linked to the .motn sequence.

  • Exporting from FCP to Soundtrack Pro looses files!!!

I'm working on a project shot on an f900 HD camera with the tapes downconverted to HD-DVCPro to quicktimes. I sb-clipped the QT and I re-synced the audio with the .wav tracks recorded on set. My sequence is set up for a .wav project. I've exported a sequence from FCP by using both Send to Soundtrack Pro and exporting to Soundtrack pro. In both cases I received an error and when I went back to FCP some of my clips were gone. They weren't in the trash or in the Capture folder> I did a search for the file names and they had vanished, or had been renamed. Anyone had this problem before? Should I dump the STP then re-install it? I'll look at Apple support page. Is there a problem between the .wav and aiff? Can Soundtrack Pro bring in .wav or is it only aiff?

  • Soundtrack Pro audio

I just purchased soundtrack pro, i have final cut pro 5 and when i clicked "send to soundtrack pro multitrack mix" it goes into soundtrack with the selected video and music however the dialogue that was recorded from the camera is not at all what was on final cut. Why is this? and how can i fix it?
    Thanks!

I spoke to someone at the Apple Store he said I could export the movie via Quicktime and then import it into Soundtrack, but then i was thinking, I would loose the different audio tracks which would be the point of editing it. It works for my clips usually, however this one paticular movie is not working. It imports the video and .aiff files fine, however the dialogue that is linked with the audio that comes in is an audio that is not even in the timeline.

  • Send to Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Project - All I get are empty tracks

I have a sequence in Final Cut Pro that has a collection of clips and sequences inside of it. When I right click the sequence in the browser and select Send To -> Soundtrack Pro Multitrack project, it opens STP as it should. When STP opens, though, I have a correct video track, but all of the audio tracks are completely empty.
Am I doing something wrong here?

select the sequence in the browser and then send to STP
make sure the in & out are set correctly on the timeline
