Unable to set favorite tags in finder

Hi there!
I'm supposed to be able to set favorite tags by dragging and dropping them on the "favorites" section. But I try to do this and nothing happens. Any suggestions?

Choose Preferences from the Finder menu, click on the Sidebar tab, and check the box for it. If needed, choose Home from the Go menu and open it there.

Unable to set asset tag number in bios 1.17 on Thinkpad Yoga S1

Hi I have a bunch of Thinkpad Yoga Machine Type 20CD002UUS and I've been trying to set the asset tag in the bios. According to support I can use this tool: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...
It was working great on a bunch of machines and then just stopped. I realized the only difference was the bios version.
On the ones that WORKED the bios is 1.16, the ones that DO NOT WORK are bios 1.17.
Has anyone has this issue? It doesn't say anything about the BIOS version being an issue, but it's realy annoying.
Anyone have any pointers?
Machines are running Windows 8.1 64 bit

I see one item that may be related, stressing "may": "(New) Improved the UEFI BIOS security feature."

Why do users get "unable to set template properties" message?

Hi there,
I am trying to administer a new site that was created with DW and has a .dwt (Templates/ locatedat the site root). I'm creating "Publisher" role connection keys so users can edit their subsections of the site. Users should be able to modify template properties when they edit/create new pages.
While testing the keys, the users report that they can connect and edit pages. However, when they try to modify template properties on either a new or existing page, they get this message "Unable to set template properties" and are prevented.
I've tried redefining the site and starting all over, tried CS3 vs. CS4 to see if it was a compatibility issue, looked at forum after forum but can't find any answers. I am experienced with DW but new to Contribute administration so I don't know what else to try. Hoping that someone will have encountered this before and can suggest a solution.

I did find this April 9, 2009 post from majtom2grndctrl that suggests the issue is how contribute treats https:// sites. My site is set up as majtom2grndctrl described and I am having the same problem.
"I've got a problem with not being able to edit Template Properties on our test sites we host on HTTPS servers. I've narrowed down the problem to Contribute CS4 ignoring the website root configuration when it looks for the Templates folder. For example, say you have a site hosted at the following address:
https://www.yourdomain.com/yourfolder/
Contribute is configured to know your site is in /yourfolder/, but for whatever reason, when you open or create a page, and Contribute reads the InstanceBegin template="/Templates/file.dwt" tag at the beginning of HTML documents, it looks for a Templates folder at the HTTP server root, not in /yourfolder/. This prevents Contribute from loading the template while editing a document, and any attempt to edit Template Properties will yield the infamous "Unable to set template properties" dialog box."

Set file Tags to None

Unless I'm really missing something. What do I do if I have a file already tagged, say "Important", and just want to change it to "None". You previously could do this with a right-click. I don't see the option any longer, only the oppotunity to change to another Tag.

It sounds like you have set some tags that you would like to delete. This article will help you do that in a few ways, step 5 of this section in particular:

In the Finder
If you've already saved a file, you can tag it directly from the Finder.
Select the files and folders you want to tag.
Control-click, or right-click on one of the highlighted items.
Select a favorite tag from the shortcut menu that appears. Select it again to remove a tag.
Select “Tags…” to access the Tags popover menu.
To add a tag from the popover menu:
Click on a favorite tag that appears in the menu to link it your document. Keep clicking your favorites to add more tags to this document.
Click “Show All…” to see the all of the tags you have created. Then, click on each tag you want to attach.
In the text field, begin typing the name of any tag you have created. Auto text completion offers each tag that matches what you type. Press return or click on the tag to attach it.
Start typing a new word or phrase to create a new tag. Press the Return key to create the tag and attach it to your document.
New tags you create automatically appear in other locations where tags are visible, such as in the Finder sidebar.
To remove a tag from your document, click the existing tag in the Tags field to highlight it, then press the Delete key.

Service Desk Unable to set status to Customer Action and Proposed Solution

Hi Everyone,
We are unable to set a service desk issue to the status Customer Action or Proposed solution.
I have someone create a new issue in the bakend system and when I receive the issue I assign it to myself as the processor. When I try to set teh status to Customer action it is grayed out.
I have checked the following:
1. As a test I assigned My user with sap_all profile so does not appear to be authroisation related
2. The status profile has all six standard values (New, customer action, In Process, Sent to SAP, Proposed Solution, Confirmed).
3. The transaction types have been defined using the standard profiles for Text Det. Procedure, Partnet Determination Procedure, Status Profile. The Partner Function ORG is set to Sold-To-Party , The date profile is a SRV_SLA_ITEM and the Action profile is set to SLFN0001_ADVANCED. The Org Data Prof is set to a customer defined one: ZSSC000000001.
4. I have checked transaction ppoma_crm and the org structure and my user is assigned to a team lead position.

Hi Michael,
please check your status profile for the "lowest status no." and "highest status no." values of the status values as Alex mentioned!
You can find this in SPRO under "SAP Solution Manager> Scenario-Specific Settings>Service Desk>Service Desk>Status Profile".
If the "high" value of the status "New" is lower than the status number of status "Customer Action" than you can not set the message from "New" to "Customer Action"!

Unable to set kernel parameters using Reource Control

HI,
I'm trying to install DB2 8.2 on solaris 10.the problem i'm encountering in installation is unable to set MSGMAX and MSGMNB kernel parameters. I tried setting the new replacement parameter process.max-msq-qbytes through projects->Resource Control from the management console.but still uinable to set the parameters.
Can anyone help me in setting the above kernel parameters.
Its not possible to set it thru /etc/system.

I finally had some time to find the actual syntax for tuning process.max-msq-qbytes and process.max-msg-messages. prctl will change those paramaters for an existing process.
As a proof of concept I changed process.max-msg-messages to a 64k. process 2221 is my shell.

...Solaris 10 has different tunables and default values from 8 and 9. It's default tunables should be good for most applications per a given system's hardware. There are some great blog articles, and discussions on opensolaris.org and blogs.sun.com on tuning that explain the intent of tuning and why we shouldn't have to tune.

[CUPS] Unable to set my new CUPS server with an HP printer (solved)

I come from Gentoo and I just installed my new Arch Linux server on a notebook with 2 NIC ... Now, I'm trying to set the CUPS deamon to share printer (HP DESKJET 895Cxi) for 3 workstations in my LAN. Before, it was working (printer and linux ... has never been very good...). But now, I'm not able, and it's about 1 hour I'm looking for a stupid error that I don't know if it's important or not ...

When starting cups service, all is fine : I can use a workstation to browse the Web Interface ... but printer seems to be not detected since it tells "No printers." when clicking on "Printers" tab. So, I go to "Administration" tab and, under "Printers", I click the "Find New Printers" and again, it says : "No printers found.".
Not goot ... so, like I was doing with Gentoo, I click on "Add Printer" ... then, I receive a redirection to HTTPS ... click on the link (or wait) and nothing happend (timed out): web interface is broken for HTTPS ... I really got no idea why HTTPS is not working .
After that, when updating the configuration (with vim) and restarting the service, deamon won't stop and I have to send a "kill -9" to the cupsd pid ...
I look in log and I can just see this :

This printer is working "well" with cups, since it's an old model and it's a HP printer, so is "fully?" working on Linux ...
Any idea on what to do/try now ?
EDIT: after that message, I just refresh the page (I'm using Chromium) and ... magically, HTTPS was working (after accept untrusted certificate for HTTPS?) ... Then, go back to "Find New Printers" and now, it was working. Printer has been added ... Seems to be OK, but the "Print Self Test Page" doesn't work right now because of this :

EDIT3: I tested the ppd from cups (and not hpijs) and got the same problem ... The latest idea was to unplug USB and plug to another USB ... and it seams to works ... Now, the test page print "fine" ...
So, I shared the printer over my LAN, and tried to print from a workstation ... it works fine now ... when looking error_log, I can see than there is no more Ghostscript error .
But I have a last question .. if somebody can answer ... When choosing a PPD file, I have the choice between 3 version :
- hpijs, 3.10.9
- hpijs, 3.10.9.11
- hpcups, 3.10.9
Don't know why onlyl the HPIJS got the ".11" and not any others ... I selected this one and here is what Cups say about the printer :
HP_DeskJet_895C_USB_ES29Z231JKGO_HPLIP HP DeskJet 895C Local Printer HP Deskjet 895c hpijs, 3.10.9.11 Idle - "ready to print"
I hope when upgrading the system, I will not get error from PPD file not found ... With my current PPD file, I get (really not sure) this error, but print is working so, it doesn't matter :

Which is basically Western Digital informing you that their out-of-date utilities don’t support Mavericks.
In any case those utilities are not the most effective. The moral of the story is: the first thing you should do after buying a WD drive is to format it as HFS Extended (Journaled) and not install ANY of their utilities but instead use reliable applications like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper - or Time Machine.

We have fatal or critical error message on Microsoft Intune Portal but all agents are working just fine. Before opening support ticket we would like to hear comments from the experts on this forum. We would also like to fix this error before starting to
manage mobile devices with Intune.
Error message on Intune Portal:
"Microsoft Intune was unable to set the desired mobile device policy for one or more users due to the following error: A2CE0100"
Repeated: 19 times.
Class: (System) Policy
Random Fatal error message on C:\Program Files\Microsoft\OnlineManagement\Logs\PolicyAgent.log found from one Windows 8.1 client:
2015-02-21 08:49:20:704 2852 1ab0 FATAL: DocumentProvider::IndicateToConsumer/pp->ProcessPolicies(NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL) failed with error 0x800704d5.
That said, we are not facing any specific problem but we would like to find symptom of this repeating error message on Intune Portal . We would appreciate to get any thoughts about this case.

Mobile policy doesn't apply to clients using the Full Client download. Please open a support case so the team can assist in further troubleshooting.

Unable to set working directory (-2147024832) for some app installs

I've found several drivers on a Dell Laptop that don't play well with others in MDT 2012, so I started making an application install package for them instead. Most of them fail with an "unable to set working directory" error. I checked
the app install logs and they don't really make any sense to me. I know the process as a whole works, because I can install .Net 4.0 runtimes without any problems using the same method. The important bits of the ZTI App log are below. Would
be for any guidance on this, as I'm stumped and none of the searches on the exact errors are of much help.
A sample error returned in the wizard is:

The ZTIApplication.log file contains the following... the first is one that works (.NET 4), the second is one that fails. (Not using code block for this one, it doesn't like it).

I'm not familiar with how Dell does their client side software, but for the server-side software (my area of expertise), I've always done something like the following:
I recommend running every application install in a VBScript/Powershell wrapper. You get logging for the application back on your SLShare as well as its cleaner (you can replace Drivers A05 with A06 by changing the script, rather than editing the application
in MDT).

I always copy any drivers that are installed after the fact (everything for me other than SAS/NIC drivers) to the C:\Temp as it can break. I always update my NIC drivers during the build to the latest Dell software using their packs. I try to
not mess with my boot image unless I'm adding a new model that is not supported by the built-in drivers.

Unable to set columns under Layout Margins and Columns

On certain pages in my 40 page document, I am unable to set the number of columns by using Layout>Margins and Columns. The columns option is dimmed out. I have tried to set them on a blank page and pages where columns were previously set (I can see the guides). I am using a single Master for page numbering and it is applied to every page in the document. There are pages where I can set the columns. I've done some page comparison and can't find the setting that might control this. Using InDesign CS6 on Windows. Thank you.

Why are you not using multiple column text frames instead of 2 text frames with columns on the master page? This would give more flexiblity.

Unable to set default program for .pdf

CURRENT PROBLEM:
As show in print screen, when i attempt to set default program nth happens at all. The only way i can open any .pdf file now is by 1st opening adobe reader 9 and select the .pdf file manually
INITIAL STAGE OF PROBLEM:
Problem started after upgrading to windows 7 from vista. Windows 7 is able to recognise adobe reader 8 as a valid default program since it is in windows.old. Thus the default for .pdf is adobe reader 8 (it was installed in vista).
Subsequently, installing adobe reader 9 isof no use as it will be ignored and windows 7 will only continue to use adobe reader 8 as the default reader when i try to open a .pdf file, unless if i manually opened adobe reader 9 and selected a .pdf file manaually
However, I am unable to uninstall adobe reader 8 as the "program and feature" can only identify adobe reader 9 and does not think that adobe reader 8 exists.
ATTEMPTs TO SOLVE:
Thus, I removed windows.old by using the disk cleanup. However, I am still unable to set adobe reader 9 as the default reader. Instead, .pdf are no longer accessible/"open-able" unless I 1st opened adobe reader 9 and then selected a .pdf manaually.
I've attempted reinstalling and restarting comps etc, they dun seem to help. I suspect the OS is now only able to recognise adobe reader 8 from windows.old as a valid program directory due to some registry issues since it was initally set as the default when i 1st upgraded the OS. Now that adobe reader 8 is removed, there might be some corrupted registry somewhere that needs to be set right again?

As you guys can see, there's no adobe reader when u expand. Also, I already browsed the reader just in case too. Thus expanding doesnt help. =(
Also, I cant seem to find the "file type" tab in folder options

I am unable to set my WD mybook world edition (white light) for time machine.

I have new iMac running OS X Mavricks 10.9 and a WD mybook world edition (white light) connected via eithernet to router.
I am unable to set up time machine using this drive.
I can see the MyBookWorld drive in Finder and read and write files with no problems. I can also see the MyBookWorld_Backup drive but I am unable to connect.
Time machine can see the drive but when I select, use drive, it trys to connect and gives me an error message: There was a problem connecting to the server "MyBookWorld-Backup"
I have already updated the hardrive firmware.
Any ideas?

Unable to set up Express A1088

Hi Fellow Humans
I'm after some advice and would really appreciate any that you can offer, I recently bought an additional Airport Express to add to my network.
My Current network is set up with 1 time capsule and 2 additional express'. I purchased an Airport Express A1088 as an additional airtunes unit for a sound bar i have. I am having some issues setting this up, I have tried the following and wonder if there is something I may've missed.
Unable to set up using ios devices (ipad air, iphones 5s both running ios 7.1.2)
Unable to set up using macbook air running mavericks (I am aware that apple no longer support A1088 under mavericks)
Not registering on Windows 7/8 using original CD
Being recognised in Windows XP on Virtual Machine using original CD, I managed to get to start setting this up but it failed.
I am now stuck the device will not connect to my current network and keeps asking for me to insert the password I created during the failed set up. However after numerous Factory, Hard and Soft Resets still asks me for the password.
I purchased this from a seller on ebay who had a good reputation, I have noticed that the packaging appears to be a Chinese version - is this going to be an issue?
One of the express' on my network is an american version - apart from the plug change it was simple enought to set up.
Before contacting the seller I hope someone here could help me.

This would be the case as Apple no longer supports the older 802.11g AirPorts.

This is also because Apple does not provide support for these earlier AirPorts on Windows-based computers either.

I use Parallels as my Virtual Host. I find that I need to use the "Configure Other" option in order to access the AirPort when running inside a virtual machine.

Potentially, yes. Although all AirPorts can be adapted to work with different electrical standards, the Wi-Fi standards are most likely going to be an issue ... even in just the 2.4 GHz band. As you can imagine not all radio channels are supported everywhere.
In the long run you would better served to send the older Express back and get yourself either a 1st or 2nd generation 802.11n Express instead.

Unable to set safari in full-screen mode

I just factory reset my 15-inch MBP running 10.9.3. After doing so, I notice that I am unable to set Safari in full-screen mode. Any ideas??

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

Unable to set scratch disk error

I know this has probably come up before but I can't find the topic when I search. The error message says this...."Unable to set scratch disk. The selected directory is on write-protected or non-writable media."
In addition to that, whenever I try to render by pressing either option+r or apple+r I get an error message saying...."File Error: Access Denied."
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Trashing preferences?
Run Disk Utility?
Instead of control-clicking on the drive, try control-clicking on the Capture Scratch folder and the project Subfolder and changing permissions.
