Unable to set Guest Network

I have set up a Wifi Network using one Apple Airport Extreme.
While me regular WiFi network is hidden and working fine, I am unable to set up the guest network.
I have enabled the guest network option with a password. under the wireless tab in airport utility
My internet connection is using DHCP.
The Router Mode in Network is OFF (Bridge Mode)

The Router Mode in Network is OFF (Bridge Mode)
That.....is one of your problems, since the Guest Network option will not operate correctly when the AirPort Extreme is configured to operate in Bridge Mode.
The other problem that you have.....is that Bridge Mode is actually the correct setting for the AirPort Extreme when you have another router "upstream" on your network......as you do.
To confirm that you have a modem/router or gateway device on your network........and not a simple modem, which is the device that you really need to enable the Guest Network to operate correctly.....please post back with the make and model number of your existing modem/router or gateway device that is providing your regular Wi-Fi network at the present time.

  • Unable to Create Guest Network with Time Capsule

Time Capsule version: 7.6.1, AirPort Utility: 6.0(600.92), Cabel Modem Ambit U10C018, iMac w/ Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I have the Time Capsule installed as the only router. The Network settings, Router Mode is: DHCP and NAT. I am unable to find any tab or button for "Advanced" that will allow me to set up a guest network.  I am pretty sure that cable modem does not function as a router because when I changed the Time Capsule to Bridge I was unable to make any wireless connections.
Any help woudl be greatly appreciated, but I will be away from the computer for the next 3 hours.

We will assume that your Time Capsule is not one of the 1st Generation models, which did not have Guest Network capability.
But, if your Time Capsule is a few years old, or you purchased it from another user....you may have a single band version of the product....which cannot offer the Guest Network option.
If your Time Capsule has the capability....here is how to set up the Guest Network
Open AirPort Utility and click on the Time Capsule icon that appears
Click Edit in the next window that appears
Click the Wireless tab at the top of the window
Enter a check mark next to Enable Guest Network
Edit the name of the network as you wish
Select Wireless Security...either WPA2 Personal or WPA/WPA2 Personal would be good
Enter a password for the Guest Network and verify
Click Update at the lower right

  • Unable to set up networking with systemd-networkd

I'm trying to set up networking on a VPS I purchased.
When I boot off the arch install image, the networking set up is configured via DHCP and everything seems to work perfectly.
This is the configuration I see from the
    ip addr
    and
    ip route
    commands:

I proceeded to follow the instructions at the systemd-networkd page, and enabled the right services.
I also created an ethernet.network file in the correct directory.
You can see the contents of the file in the following screenshot, along with the ouput of some of the ip commands in the following screenshot.

I'm unable to ping google, but somehow I'm able to curl successfully download the google.com page via curl.
I've demonstrated this in the following screenshot. I cannot fathom how this is possible.

That subnet is not only odd - it should not work.
A /32-subnet is perfect for localhost and the like. It basically means you can't reach any other IP than your own.
Also the gateway from your provider's DHCP-server (first screenshot) ist very far away from your own IP. I'm too lazy to calculate, but in order to reach that gateway with that IP, the netmask would have to be between 16 and 8.
In short: I can easily tell you why it wouldn't work - what I don't get is why it worked with curl in your setup or your provider's DHCP and/or what your provider did there.
In any case: talk to your provider - they might be able to give you the correct addresses/masks and maybe shed some light (I'm really very curious).

  • Unable To See Guest Network

    Hi everyone:
I've just purchased and installed an Airport Extreme on our office network. I'm able to see and connect to the wireless connection I've set up. However, I can't see the guest network. I've gone through the settings a number of times, but everything looks to be OK. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

DeanVernonWormer, Welcome to the discussion area!
Is this a NEW AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) or is it the previous/discontinued model? The MB763LL/A supports this while the MB053LL/A does not.
If you do have the newest base station, did you configure the AEBS to provide the guest network?

  • Unable to set network time and date

My Applet TV2 is unable to set the network time and date making it so I cannot login to my itunes account so not Netflix or anything making it pointless. I have tried adjusting my router settings (although I've used the same router for over and year and this just started randomly) I have ensured Port's 123 are open, I've restored the ATV2 4 times and have reset my router. I've seen links showing how to use SSh to set the time but I'm unsure if that will work. Any help is appreciated as I'm at a loss at this point

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Of the things I've seen work for people in the community you seem to have done most of them, but did you try these.
Restart Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for a moment or two.
Ensure that the DNS address's used by the Apple TV and the router are the same and are the address recommended by your ISP.

  • Guest Network not working in latest Airport Extreme

Just bought the latest Airport Extreme (802.11ac), and want to enable the Guest Network.
    - Installed latest firmware
    - Set Airport in Bridge Mode
    - Enabled Wireless Network
    - Enabled Guest Network
There is no connecting to Guest Network (iphone) and if possible (macbook) there is no internet.
With a previous version of Time Capsule, the Guest Network in the same setting worked like a charm.
Anybody seen this before or is the Airport Extreme working different than a Time Capsule?

According to the theory what you are saying about the A1355 is not possible.. ie there is no guest in bridge.. I have tested it and can assure you it did NOT work.. it fooled me into thinking it should and I spent many hours working on it.. our forum expert here.. Bob Timmons set me straight.
Now I am always a believer in voodoo and gremlins and maybe the tooth fairy when it comes to wireless.. it is about 80% of the above and 20% science.. so please do the test again and see if it is possible.. but I can assure you.. apple have set guest network to off in bridge.
There are ways around it.. complicated methods. ie if you extend wireless to your TC.. from another apple router where the router is on, then guest can be used. You can also use a managed switch to set vlans for the guest.

  • How do to set up time limits on a guest network

I have a new generation Airport Time Capsule and I have set up a Guest Network for my kids but I would like to set up time limits on the Guest Network also, is there a way to do it?

It is not possible to set up specific time limits for the Guest Network as a whole, but it is possible to set up individual time limits for each device that will be connecting to the Guest Network.....and, also the main network for that matter.
If you can provide us with some more specifics on what you are trying to accomplish, how many devices will be involved, etc.......that will help us craft our answer to provide accurate information.
Meanwhile, if you want to take a look at the general settings in Timed Access....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon, then click Edit
Click the Network tab at the top of the screen
Enter a check mark in the box next to Enable Timed Access
Click on the Timed Access button
Click Cancel to avoid making any changes to your current setup

  • Can I set up a default website for my guest network on an EA3500?

Just got a new EA3500, and plan to use its guest network feature to allow Internet access but not access to my LAN.  Wondering if I can set it up so that users on the guest network bring up a particular website when they open their browser.  I didn't see anything about this in the user's guide or in the forums.

That's actually how Guest Access feature works. You can share internet to your guest/visitors without giving them access to your local network. You may configure the Guest Access settings on the router using Linksys Smart Wifi through the local access interface; check this site for the instructions, http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=b509a1805dd6416ebb0e35a7e5a58937_Configuring_Guest...

If that is the case, then......
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utiltiies > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
Locate the Guest Network tab located just below the row of icons and click on it
(If you do not see a Guest Network tab....you likely do not have the Time Capsule connected to a simple modem)
Enter a check mark next to "Enable Guest Network"
Type in a name for the Guest Network
    Enter the password and confirm
Click Update to save your settings and Time Capsule will restart in 25-30 seconds

Badunit you said "Continue setting up without the network. You can skip past it, right?"
It sounds like he is setting up the iPod via wif. You can't continue. What yo can do is reset the iPod
    - Reset the iOS device.
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then start the setup over again but this time connect the iPod to a computer and set up via iTunes. Then he can troubleshoot the connection proboem.

  • Help setting up a private and guest network

If someone could help me out here it would be appreciated.  Here's the deal.  I have AT&T U-verse and a 2Wire modem (3801HGV).  What I'm looking to do is set up a private wireless network (to access all our computers/NAS/etc) and a guest network (which only has access to the public internet...for guests/co-workers).  Unfortunately, the AT&T router doesn't have a guest network feature.  So, doing a little research, I decided to buy an Airport Extreme because of its guest network feature.  Upon setting that up, the Airport Extreme asks me to go into bridge mode which automatically shuts off the guest network.  I thought maybe I could use an Airport Express to setup an additional wireless network that DIDN'T have access to the private network but unfortunately, it sees all the private stuff (it also wants to be in bridge mode).
Can anyone think of a solution for this?

Yeah, I tried this but unfortunately it didn't work
Was there a particular error message that you received?
Or was it a case of the 2-Wire not wanting to see a Double NAT situation on the network?
I can make this work with an AirPort Express using another Apple router as the "main" router, but I don't have a 2-Wire to test things out. By "work", I mean that computers on the AirPort Express network cannot "see" any of the devices on the "main" network.
If you are interested, I'll provide some details on the setup of the AirPort Express for you.

  • Unable to have my dell laptop and a Nook Reader access my  Apple Extreme Guest network

I have an AE base station (DHCP) to which my Dell desktop (windows Vista) is connected wirelessly via guest network (WPA2). However, both my newer dell laptop (Windows 7) and a Nook Reader cannot. They both see the guest network in the list of available networks but somehow they cannot access the guest network. I have an Imac and an ipad that use the primary network with no problem. Is there a specific setting I have to have on the AE base station? Thanks, any help would be appreciated!
    Jojo

Have you gone into the Iphone extreme app and set up a passcode for the guest network  AND also set it up as a WPA2 encription.  I beleive BOTH the main passcode and guestpasscode have to be the same security setting ( WPA/WPA2 personal OR just WPA2 personal.

  • Unable to set the ip address for hosted network client after creating WIFI hotspot

Original Title: INTERNET CONNECTIVITY PROBLEM WITH MY LAPTOP WIFI HOTSPOT
    HI all
I am able to use internet connection from my lap hotspot, when the internet source is Public or private wifi.
so I know the cmd window commands for hotspot and settings of client(sharing to hosted network client, assigning IP address etc.,)
but the problem I am facing is slight different
I am using my cdma wireless broadband datacard as my source internet connection(Reliance netconnect +)
when I try to create hotspot for this, as usual I am able to create the hotspot and able to share the internet to hostednework client.
but I am unable to set the ip address for hosted network client, if I try to set ip 192.169.137.1 and 255.255.255.0
as soon as I close the window, the ip address also disappears
when connect my android phone to that hotspot, it is able to connect but there is no internet connectivity.
when I check the hostednetwork client for packet transmission, both sent and received packet is happening., I mean transmitting
so what cause the failure in internet connectivity but success in hotspot connectivity?
    check the screen shots...
    can u help me..
    its little complicated

  • HT5569 When I attempt to choose the wi fi network I set up my iPhone message says "unable to join the network."  It's my network!

Recently, my iphone 4s lost connection with the wifi network I set up on my imac desktop.  The message I receive is "unable to join the network..."
Can anyone offer a solution to this problem?  Thanks!

Oh, so the problem has nothing at all to do with the iPhone ... it is that you cannot remember the network password!  No wonder the iPhone cannot join the network.
Why not simply destroy the network and set up a new one with a password you remember?

I am attempting to set up a guest network on the Airport Extreme Base Station. The Base Station is connected to a DSL Modem. The network is also extended using an Airport Express. When I have attempted to set up the Base Station using DHCP NAT in the netword feature I get a message that because the service has a private IP address the only way that I can connect is in Off Bridge Mode. In this mode I do not seem to be able to connect to the internet using the guest network. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Ok, your Speedport is actually a combination DSL modem and wireless router. In this case you would typically configure a downstream router, like your AirPort Extreme in Bridge mode. Unfortunately, when in Bridge mode, the AirPort does NOT support providing a guest network.
The only possible option is to reconfigure the Speedport as a bridge and use the Extreme as your Internet router. You would still need the DSL modem provided by the Speedport for Internet connectivity.
