Unable to set network time and date

My Applet TV2 is unable to set the network time and date making it so I cannot login to my itunes account so not Netflix or anything making it pointless. I have tried adjusting my router settings (although I've used the same router for over and year and this just started randomly) I have ensured Port's 123 are open, I've restored the ATV2 4 times and have reset my router. I've seen links showing how to use SSh to set the time but I'm unsure if that will work. Any help is appreciated as I'm at a loss at this point

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Of the things I've seen work for people in the community you seem to have done most of them, but did you try these.
Restart Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for a moment or two.
Ensure that the DNS address's used by the Apple TV and the router are the same and are the address recommended by your ISP.

What are the issues involved in setting the time and date on AppleTV?   Is this a network issue?

If the system is (made) a member of a Window administrative domain then all this is already in the box, and should be part of a well managed system (I have managed it on a workgroup as well, see the articles below for details). It's one of the things I try to promote as we often have systems switched on for hundreds / thousands of hours and knowing when some guy accidently switched it all off is realy usefull It helps with problems / events that occur outside our control and assists tracking down problems and stops drift / skewing of data.

Use the command NET TIME /? (on W2K and XP)
Either way you will come accross problems at the firewall if you want to get to an external time source. Unless you have on of those nifty little black boxes that pick up a radio signal from one of the available time sources.

t doesn´t let me set up time and date. It keeps searching endlessly. Therefore I can´t use appletv

That means it is having trouble connecting to the network.
Make sure location is set correctly. DNS should be set to automatic. Ensure router is up to date. If on wifi try ethernet. Reboot ATV and router.

    Jasion,
Maybe a bit beside the question, but it is always recommended here to open/save from/to own hard disk, and to copy from/to networks and removable media. You may be lucky, at least for a while, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
In addition to the (far greater) risk of file corruption, some issues are mentioned here:

It is very confusing and driving me mad as this is christmas gift and she can't set up time and date.
I've tried  update software using Nokia Software Updater and nothing

    Hi monpar77
If you are using restore factory settings in "Phone management" due to UDP = User Data Preservation feature of this device that may not be sufficient and you may need to carry out a "hard reset" as detailed elsewhere in the forum.

  • Setting PC Time and Date as a User, not administrator

    Good Day,
I'm trying to set the system time and date as a user. Currently running a hardware time server keeping the clocks on the network at the same time. The time is requested from the time sync server at the start of a DAQ run. This is to ensure every computer recording data has the same start time. We are currently changing network permissions and need to make a user run the software. User privelidges don't allow us to change the system time. Is there a way to allow a User to change the system time, or is that left to the Administrator only?
This function is already implimented on the administrator account and works successfully. Any information would be most appreciated.
    Thanks

  • UC320: how to set (correct) time and date, upload own AA messages, get caller ID, telnet?

    Hello there,
Just trying out the UC320 I got borrowed from Cisco AT for testing with firmware 2.1.2 (1) localized for Austria.
The device is connected to the cable modem of my ISP (Kabelsignal) utilizing two FXO ports, getting an IP address from my DHCP being connected to a WS-C2960G-24TD (LAN 1@UC320 connected to Gi0/18@C2960G port macro Cisco Switch enabled).
Now I would like to try/see the following features:
    - a correct time and date: huh? hwo/where???
No option to set this right??? No NTP option??? Am I just blind or too stupid to find that option/s?
    - upload own messages for the AA: ok, there are german messages but someone might have a little bit personalized ones - maybe telling callers the company name before asking them to dial the extension if they know it. Making custom messages is not the problem - but how to upload and in which sound/data format?
    - caller ID: my ISP told me that he transfers the caller ID correctly to analoge end devices if caller ID is available and not suppressed. All I can see when a call comes in is which FXO Port is being used by that call. So callback entries on the SPA phone is senseless. Any advise?
    - CLI: You can telnet the device - but which credentials to use to successfully logon? The pre-assigned credentials form Cisco AT are not accepted for logon.
BTW @Cisco guys: I am also voting for support for the older SPAs (e.g. 942)

    Hi Claus,
Thanks for giving the UC320W a spin and glad you found the support community!  Let met see if I can help answer your questions....
Time/Date & NTP -- The UC320W is preconfigured with Cisco's Small Business NTP server.  The preferred method for correct time you will need the UC320W WAN to be connected with Internet access.   If there is no WAN connectivity there is a feature in the 2.1.x firmware where you can set the time on a SPA phone GUI and it will then update the system time.  Alternatively, if you have a LAN side NTP server that is on the same subnet as your Data VLAN subnet, you can use the NTP.pmf file found here:  https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-16301
Upload custom Music on Hold and Auto Attendant prompt files.  We are currently in beta of a new Cloud service.  To participate in the Beta, please send an e-mail to [email protected] requesting MoH/AA Custom files Cloud Beta participation.
Caller ID on FXO:  Make sure that you have run the impedance matching tool on each of your FXO ports.  For additional information on running the Impedance Matching tool and Caller ID troubleshooting, please see the UC320W Troubleshooting Guide.
CLI access -- This is for Cisco Support personnel only for low level debugging.  This is not a IOS based device and there is no command line access for provisioning.

  • Setting the time and date.

Just recently when starting my computer I receive a message telling me my clock etc is set to a time and date in 2001 and it might be effecting how it operates. I keep trying to fix it but it keeps coming back and my clock is always wrong on start up.
Does anyone know what's going on? And more importantly, how do I fix it?

You might need to replace the 'backup battery'
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=34885
You may need to replace the battery if you have intermittent problems starting up your computer, or if settings such as date and time change when you start up your computer.
Also update to the latest version of OS X (10.4.11) if you haven't already (Your signature suggests you are running 10.4.3)

  • Setting computer time and date

After removing the battery from my Powerbook G4 to send to the dealer for the battery exchange program I have had problems setting the computer date and time. It has reverted back to 1 January 1970. I have been into system preferences and changed the date to current date and time - have done it both manually and also ticked box set date and time automatically but when I shut computer down and open again, it reverts back to the date 1 January 1970. Can anyone help, please?

    Hi sanvan,
    Did you follow these instructions:
To set the date and time manually:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Date & Time.
Click the Date & Time button.
Deselect the "Set date & time automatically" checkbox if it is selected.
Click today's date on the calendar and drag the hands on the clock to the correct time.
You can also set the date and time using the up and down arrows, or by typing over the current date or time.
Click Time Zone and follow the onscreen instructions to choose the correct time zone for your geographic region.

  • KDE: Setting time and date automatically

I've never been able to set the time and date automatically in KDE time settings. When I check the "Set time and date automatically" and authenticate myself, I always get the error message "Unable to contact time server: .". I'm wondering whether it's an upstream bug or I'm missing some required package? Does it work for you?

matt101 wrote:I don't get it i have installed ntpd using pacman -S ntp . And then after it installed I restarted my computer and i still can't change the time to London and am still getting the "Unable to contact time server" error. Am i misinterpreting this or what? Could somone please explain to me in simple terms how to make the KDE clock show London time?
    Have you set ntp correctly?
Also go to http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/use.html you'll have all the answers there.
    in short try this:
    ntpq -p
If nothing happens you did something wrong, if it does, then it already works just remove ntpd or openntpd from daemon array.

  • IPhone 4S time and date keeps resetting, despite being set to automatically do so.

After having recently upgraded my iOS to 7.0.4, my Verizon iPhone 4S has started to re-set the time and date every now and then at random. It does this, despite me having my Settings set to automatically set the date and time based on my location. I have called Verizon about this and all they had me do was to reset my network connections and reset my roaming capabilities...and despite me doing that this morning, the time re-set itself again this afternoon. I have found the only solution has been for me to power off my phone completely and then once on again, set the phone either into Airplane mode for a second - or to just wait until the Verizon signal switches the phone back to being the correct time and date on its own. I have also found that these issues have started to affect my ability to send and receive iMessages, as well. For some reason, when the date/time re-sets, the iMessage option becomes un-selected and I have to manually go back and turn that functionality back on. Anyone else having these same issues? It's incredibly frustrating and I'm not sure what else I can do save for constantly hard, re-starting my iPhone everytime I notice the time and date is out of whack. Also it's hard for me to tell if this is an Apple hardware issue/bug that just needs to be fixed - or something to do with Verizon. Any tips/info would be appreciated.

Try setting your time to manual. This way, the iPhone is the one controlling the time. As you correctly understand, when it is on auto, it is controlled by Verizon and their individual towers. If after setting the time to manual it works, then I would say it isn't a phone issue, but a Verizon one. Do you frequent the same area when this occurs? It could very well be an issue with a particular tower in your area and Verizon would need to check that. If the time goes off again while on manual, then it could be the phone. User troubleshooting is restart, reset, restore from backup and restore as new. Try each in order until the problem is fixed. If it cannot be, then make an appointment at the Genius Bar at Apple to have the phone looked at for hardware issues.
