Unable to Set Parent Tab on Pages

Hi,
I created some pages and I just created parent tabs. However, I am unable to apply the parent tabs to the page. I went to the "Utilization" area and it does not have reference to any page.

Hi Denes,
I totally agree that it would be worthwhile putting together some tips on handling tab creation. Somewhere earlier in this forum I did explain how to create everything manually (though I do tend to create tabs during the page creation wizard) but it would be helpful if there was a definitive guide somewhere.
I think my number one tip, as far as parent tabs goes, is to change the default sequence number to something other than 10 during creation. If you already have a tab with this number, you tend to lose your new one. I set this to 999 during creation and then change it afterwards.

  • Unable to set parent context for this record.

Has anyone seen this error when doing an import? In my case I was doing an import to the Opportunity Product record.
    the full error message is
Unable to set parent context for this record. Please make sure that the parent record is valid and you have permission to modify the parent record.
I was attempting to populate one field on the record with data.

    Hi,
Was there a resolution to this that you found, cause it's driving me crazy.
We've resorted to manually created a product in OnDemand with an EUI and exported it but we can't reimport it to overwrite it as we get the same error message "Unable to set parent context for this record"
The opty and the product both exist as they got manually created, although when you export them there are now 2 of them (I see this in reporting as well????)
Besides the Opty-Product External ID what else is required to do an import to overwrite?
    regards

  • Can't grasp the relation between tab set, parent tab, standard tab set and standard tab

Very novice to apex application building, but after trying to figure the concepts behind the tab sets I'm getting more and more confused about it as I always get different behaviour when changing things.
The documentation is not very clear on this.
Is there someone who can explain this in a comprehensive way?
It would be nice to have a view on the consequences of using these different levels of groupings.
Any help will be dearly appreciated ;-)

    One level tab application
Tabsets are used to group standard tabs.
Use full when splitting up the application in different sections. Much like how the apex is split up in the application builder, sql workshop, team developend and administration.
Parent tabs aren't used. And a one level tab application can't be turned into a two level tab application.
    Two level tab application
Parent tabs belong to only one tabset "main".
The standard tabset is the connection between the parent tab and standerd tab.
There is one standard tabset for every parent tab.
The standard tabset in the two level application has the same function as the tabset in the one level application.
The standard tabset also determines when a parent tab is current.
When on the page the setting Standard Tab Set is set then the parent tab belonging to that standard tabset is current.
This means that if you change a page form one parent tab to an other you not only need to change the tab settings. But also the settings on the page.
If you still in the position to choose between list or tabs as your main form of navigation I would recommend using lists.
The possibilities with the list templates are greater that with tabs.
Tabs have a maximum of two levels. List don't have such a limit.
If you created your application as a one level tab application you can't turn it in a second level application without some serious hacking.
Clicking on a standard tab submits the page and branch after the computations. This could also be viewed as a pro for tabs because with list navigation your page needs to be accessible by url. Did isn't necessary with standard tabs making them more secure. Parent tabs also use an url to navigate.
Only the standard tabs belonging to the current standard tabset are rendered making a drop down menu impossible.
Hope this clears up some of your questions.

  • How can I set the "tab groups" page as my home page?

I've searched for about:config options, and even installed Customizable Shortcuts 0.5.11.1 with the hopes that there would be a shortcut for "options" or "preferences", so that I could simply click "set as home page" while in the tab groups page. No dice. I've just started working with tab groups again (I was away on Chrome for maybe a year... but I'm back), and I think it would be great if I could simply have all my tab groups displayed when I start firefox up. How do I do it?

The tab view page is dynamically populated based on the tab groups in the current window. Although the "page" has an address, opening that address directly yields a blank tab, so I think that's a dead end.
Since the keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+e, maybe you can find a way to send that automatically?
Also, if you rely heavily on tab groups, I assume you are using something like the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/ Session Manager extension] to protect against data loss. Because tab groups (and of course the tabs themselves) are stored only long enough to restore the immediately previous session, it's not too difficult to accidentally lose them all.

  • Unable to set the tab order in a form I am creating

    Hello,
I have a form that I created a bunch of fields for. I did make some of the fields out of order, but was not concerned as I figured I would set the tab order as I have in the past.
However, for this set of fields, not mater what I do, and how many times I try to set the tab order manually, it skips over a bunch of fields. Even if I try to let acrobat automatically set the tab order, it still doesn't work.
These fields have been made from scratch as well as, copy and pasted to make sure their properties were all the same, other than a unique name. I can't figure this one out.
Has anyone ever had this happen to them before?
    thanks!!

At one poin,t a bad param error popped up..... ah ha!!
So, I exported the file back to postscript (deleting all the fields first)
and then made new ones and it worked fine...
Must have been a corrupted file ;-)

  • Unable to set "Fit one full page to window" as scrolling default for every PDF

I am trying to retain "Fit one full page to window" as default for every PDF so that when I open a document and scroll down once, it scrolls to the next full page, rather than chunks.  I then need to manually select the option from the menu bar, after which it functions properly. When I change the Default Layout and Zoom to "Fit Page", it merely changes the zoom factor; it doesn't enable the scrolling setting.  Is this no longer an option with Acrobat X? I recall being able to do so with previous versions.
I've even tried doing this manually for each PDF by going to File>Properties and setting the initial view similarly.  This didn't work, though even if it did it would be too impractical based on how many PDFs I read on a given day.

I've been hoping for an answer to this for awhile.  There's really annoying, since one would logically think "Default Layout and Zoom" under the page display contains that setting.  Yes, it will affect the zoom, but it has no effect on whether or not the "Fit one full page to window" option is actually selected.
Every time I open a PDF, I have to click that icon, which gets super frustrating since I work with dozens of user manuals every day looking for spare parts, etc.
I really hope someone can answer this.

  • Setting a tab canvas page to be visible

hi guys, when my form starts I have a page on my tabbed canvas in which the users cannot see. When a certain event triggers i then want to be able to make this tab visible and I was just wondering if anyone knows how to do this?
    I know about:
    set_item_instance_property(<item_name>,current_record,visible,property_true);
however I am unsure how to reference the specific page of the tabbed canvas using this, i thought it would be something along the lines of:
         set_item_instance_property('TABCANVAS.PAGE_NAME,visible,property_true);
Am I far of the mark?
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi,
If you want to display a tab, you can use the following:
    SET_TAB_PAGE_PROPERTY(tab_page_id,VISIBLE,PROPERTY_TRUE);
    SET_TAB_PAGE_PROPERTY(tab_page_id,ENABLED,PROPERTY_TRUE);Rgds
    Oups! someone answered b4 me!

  • Creating new page with new parent tab

Does this happen to anyone else? When I try to create a new page that will have a new parent tab and standard tab in a 2-level tab setup, it never seems to work right. I end up having to dele the new parent tab and standard tab I created while creating the new page. Then once the page is created, I go into Shared Components -> Tabs, and create a new Parent Tab and assign it to this new page. Seems like a crazy way to have to do it.
I know this sounds crazy and it is hard to explain the issue, but anyone who has had this problem with creating a new page with new 2-level tabs will understand what I am talking about.
Can anyone point me to an explanation on how this should be done? I know I must be missing something.
    Thanks,
    John

I've recently had to muck around with the 2 level tabs aswell. There are some things making this rather difficult indeed.
What i'd do when creating a new page you want to have under a new tab, but also with a new parent tab, is to create it with only a new STANDARD tab. Don't create a new parent tabset. All parent tabs are in the same tabset, and if you create a new tabset you'll effectively see only this new parent tab + tab on the page you created.
So unless you want the page to be on an absolutely new set of tabs, you'll probably just want the page to be on a new top-level tab with under that a new standard tab. Like so:
    <NEW PARENT> | parent 1 | parent 3 | parent 4
    <NEW TAB> |
To achiece this, you'll need a new standard tab set. You can create this when creating the page. The standard tab set is the set used for you lower level tabs, so obviously we do need a new one.
As for the parent set which you can choose upon page creation, choose the already existing parent tab set. This set contains all your already existing parent tabs, and you wish to add one for display.
When you finish creating the page and run it, you'll see that the standard (lower level) tab is there, and is set to active, but your parent tab is not there.
Go to Shared Components > Tabs. Select the "Manage Tabs" tab there. You can notice your new set there, but notice the striped outline of it. This tab has no parent tab for it! And this is the problem with tab creation in 2-level tabs: you can make a new STANDARD tab and tabset, and define a parent tab set OR create a NEW tab set with tab. Both options fail us: what we want is a NEW parent tab in an existing parent tab set!
So to fix our problem, from the manage tabs tab click on "Manage Parent Tabs", found on the right hand side of the screen in the region "Parent Tab Tasks".
This'll bring you to a magical new tab within the tab components. It's a mystery to me why it has to be hidden like this, and makes it a real pain to use. On this page you can manage your parent tabs (the only place to do so actually...). Here you'll see there is no parent tab for your page (again), but here you can create a new parent tab from the right hand menu "Parent Tab Tasks" > "Create New Parent Tab". Enter a label, and choose your existing parent tab set as parent tab set. Don't create a new set. As for target, refer to your new page again.
However, we are not done yet. You are returned to the "Parent Tab Management" page. You new parent tab will be shown there, but when you run your page, the parent tab will not be set active yet.
To fix that, go back to the "Parent Tab Management". Select your parent tab so you go to it's details. Firstly, give it a new sequence number, otherwise it'll be shared with one (the parent tabs are created with sequence nr 10, so most probably on a shared position with your first parent tab).
Then turn your eyes on the "Current on Standard TabSet" list item. It'll have an option selected, but take a good look: it'll be the same name as your parent tab. From the options, select your new Standard tab set (the lower level set) which holds your new page. Then apply your changes and run your page: both your parent and standard tab will be there and highlighted. Yay!

  • Parent Tab Set Problem with 1.6

    Hi,
I came across a small issue when trying to add tabs (2 sets) to a non tab enabled application. Here are the steps to reproduce it:
    1. Switch page default theme to 2 tab sets (edit theme)
    2. Click on tabs link in page editor, takes you to tab manager with 2 add buttons, one on parent and one on tab set.
    3. Click add parent (opens create parent tab wizard)
    4. Enter Parent Tab Label then click next
    5. Error: Tab set or new tab set must be specified.
It seems that the only way to create a parent tab set is through the new application wizard (defaults to main) or through the standard tab set wizard (Tab Parent). Do you think this should also be available through the create parent wizard?
I also had some problems with the automatic naming of the tabs. The wizards seem to be a little inconsistent, sometimes asking for a label (and deriving the name) and other times asking for the name. It gets very confusing when you have tabs and parent tabs named the same, especially with the addition of parent tab set and tab sets. Would it be possible to use a different prefix for the different tab types, e.g.
    PTS_XXX (parent tab set)
    PT_XXX (parent tab)
    TS_XXX (tab set)
    T_XXX (tab)
I'm really impressed with this product, but I think the tabs section tripped me up the most (page templates, page attributes, parent tab sets, parent tabs, tab sets, tabs, etc.) and the manual kind of glossed over a lot of it.
    Thanks.

You really need to upgrade. If your not the one in charge of that start complaining to whoever is, there are so many enhancements and new features it would be hard to list them.

  • Disappearing Parent Tab

    Hi All,
I've been working on conditionally displaying various tabs in my application based on certain parameters in my authorization scheme. What I am running in to now is that my parent tab "Admin" is disappearing. I know this is happening because the parent tabs target page is a being conditionally suppressed also. When I click on one of the sub tabs that has not been suppressed then the parent tabs reappear.
If the parent tab had the option "Tab Also Current for Pages" like the subtabs then it seems the problem would be solved.
Other than splitting up the pages and putting them on seperate parent tabs I can't come up with another solution. Anyone have an idea?
    Tom

    Scott,
    Sorry for the confusion.
Let's say I have parent tab A with Subtabs B and C and Parent tab D with subtabs E and F. On A I have the target tab set to the page associated with tab B and on D I have the target tab set to the page associated with tab E.
Based on my security I have a condition set on tab E that prevents it from displaying for user TOM. Tab F though is allowed to be displayed.
When I login as TOM I see parent tabs A and D. When I click on tab A is see tabs B and C. This is what I want. When I click on tab D tab E is suppressed and tab F is displayed. The problem I face is that tab D also disappears until I actually click on tab F.
I hope this helps make the problem clear.

  • Dynamically set Tab current pages

Here’s a quick summary of the situation I’ve got.
Let’s say I have an application with 4 report pages. Three display some data about rows in my database. All 3 contain the column ‘Control #’ which is linked to the 4th report which displays more detailed information about that Control # object.
When I click on the Control # link and go to the 4th report, I would like the Tabs current for the 4th report to match the Tabs current of the page I came from. In other words, if I clicked on the Control # link on page 1, I would like the 4th pages current tabs to match page 1’s current tabs. The same goes for pages 2 and 3.
I’ve tried &(some global variable). and :(some global variable) and v(‘some global variable’) in the Tabs current pages fields but that doesn’t work.
Is it possible to do what I’m trying to do?

Reports 1, 2 & 3 all exist in individual two tab pages. Pages 1 & 2 would have the same parent tab and their own sub tab. Page 3 would have its own parent tab. When in those pages the appropriate tabs are 'current'. When I click on Control # on any page and go to page 4, I would like the source pages tabs to stay 'current' when displaying page 4.
By the way, my actual application has in the neighborhood of a dozen pages which are like reports 1,2,& 3 as I described above. Rather than build a dozen identical (with the exception of current tabs) page 4's, I would rather build one page 4 and dynamically set page 4's current tab to the source page's current tab.
It's a visual reminder to the user as to which page they were on when they clicked the Control # field.
I also have 8 - 10 SVG charts which I have linked to reports. About 6 of them display the same report using different parameters. Again, I would like THAT report to have the same current tab as the source chart (chart clicked on to invoke the report).

  • Problem Switching/Changing a page in one parent tab to another

I have 2 level tabs in my application. Lets call the 'top' set of tabs, Parent1 and Parent2.
Parent2 has only one tab 'below' or contained in it. While in Parent1, there are many tabs below it, each refers to a specific page that has some apex reports. I'm just trying to move one of those "sub" tabs and the corresponding report from Parent1 to Parent2.
To do that, in Application Builder, i click on the page that i want to essentially switch form Parent1 to Parent2. I can see under the Tab section, what its called on the right side, under Tabs. Lets call that Tab_X. So, i click on that Tab_X, and it allows me to edit the Tab itself. Now I open up the drop down box called "Standard Tab Set", and there, i can see my Parent1, and Parent2 sets. It is already selected to Parent1. So i change it to Parent2. Save/Apply.
Then i go run my application, and I do not see that Tab_X tab in Parent1 anymore (which is good-i wanted to move it). I click on the Parent2 top level tab, and there I can see the Tab_X in the sub-tab list, which is also good. So far.
When i click on Tab_X to run my report, it runs and outputs fine. But i lose my Parent tabs in the Parent tab bar. My subtabs look like the ones it was grouped with in Parent1, even though i can't see Parent1 or Parent2.
It seems like it sort of half made my change but not fully, and my navigation is now essentially not working properly.
Am I missing a step to do this change correctly?
    Thanks.
