Unable to set path in win 98

hi!
i know it wud sound stupid but i am unable to set path variable in win 98. i added the line PATH=c:\j2sdk1.4.1_01\bin in autoexec.bat,
then executed the statement c:\autoexec.bat and then checked the value of path variable. it works fine but when i try to run any java file like
c:\javac Test.java the following error appears:
error: cannot read: *.java
1 error
wat shud i do??????

you should change into directory where you have these .java files, and then try again...

No matter what configurations I put in, when running through "simias-server-setup" I keep failing at this error:

I'm installing ifolder on a 32-bit Ubuntu Maverick, and followed the instructions from: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/iFolderInstall
I've gotten to the point where I can reach the web-interface, however (I did that a while ago, I don't remember if I actually got past this part before, but now I'm setting it up with ldap so I can sync user accounts).

Setting Path variable in Win XP Pro

I have installed Java SDK 1.3.0_02 on Windows XP professional.
I have set my path to:
%SystemRoot%\system32; %SystemRoot%; %SystemRoot%\system32\WBEM;
%SystemRoot%; %SystemRoot%\system32\WBEM; C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Adaptec Shared\System; %Java_Home%\bin; %Java_Home%; %Tomcat_Home%;
where %JAVA_HOME% refers to C:\jdk1.3.0_02.
I get the following error upon trying to use 'javac' in the DOS command
prompt:
'javac' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable
program or batch file
According to the instructions at

all I can. Also, according to this article I should not have to set a
classpath variable. Should I set a classpath variable?
Here are some conditions I cannot figure out:
1) When I use the 'java' command with any switches (such as -version) I get
a proper response.
2) When I type on the command line "set path=C:\jdk1.3.0_02" and then try
"javac" command it works. This happens only while the command window is
opened. If it is closed and reopened I will have to do it again. This should
not be required.
3) When I navigate to the "C:\jdk1.3.0_02\bin" directory and try using the
"javac" command it works fine.
4) Everytime I use the 'autoexec' command in the C: root directory I get an
old version of the path variable without my recent path settings.
What do I need to do to simply open a command prompt and compile Java code?
It seems to work fine on other installations. I want to be able to use
'javac' from any directory without referencing in the command line the
directory of 'javac'.
My main question is how do I set the path variable so it permanently stays in
Windows XP Pro? What is the simplist way to do this?
Should it be set in the environmental variables section under 'My Computer'? Should it be set in DOS? Should it be set in 'autoexec.syd' in the C: root directory (there is not autoexec.bat)? Someone mentioned to set the

From the command prompt echo your classpath (echo %classpath%) and see what displays. If it's not the one from your environment variables, then something else is getting it's dirty hands in the way.
You may want to take a look through your autoexec.bat and remove any lines that set the path variable. Leave it to your windows environment settings to do it for you.

[CUPS] Unable to set my new CUPS server with an HP printer (solved)

I come from Gentoo and I just installed my new Arch Linux server on a notebook with 2 NIC ... Now, I'm trying to set the CUPS deamon to share printer (HP DESKJET 895Cxi) for 3 workstations in my LAN. Before, it was working (printer and linux ... has never been very good...). But now, I'm not able, and it's about 1 hour I'm looking for a stupid error that I don't know if it's important or not ...

When starting cups service, all is fine : I can use a workstation to browse the Web Interface ... but printer seems to be not detected since it tells "No printers." when clicking on "Printers" tab. So, I go to "Administration" tab and, under "Printers", I click the "Find New Printers" and again, it says : "No printers found.".
Not goot ... so, like I was doing with Gentoo, I click on "Add Printer" ... then, I receive a redirection to HTTPS ... click on the link (or wait) and nothing happend (timed out): web interface is broken for HTTPS ... I really got no idea why HTTPS is not working .
After that, when updating the configuration (with vim) and restarting the service, deamon won't stop and I have to send a "kill -9" to the cupsd pid ...
I look in log and I can just see this :

This printer is working "well" with cups, since it's an old model and it's a HP printer, so is "fully?" working on Linux ...
Any idea on what to do/try now ?
EDIT: after that message, I just refresh the page (I'm using Chromium) and ... magically, HTTPS was working (after accept untrusted certificate for HTTPS?) ... Then, go back to "Find New Printers" and now, it was working. Printer has been added ... Seems to be OK, but the "Print Self Test Page" doesn't work right now because of this :

EDIT3: I tested the ppd from cups (and not hpijs) and got the same problem ... The latest idea was to unplug USB and plug to another USB ... and it seams to works ... Now, the test page print "fine" ...
So, I shared the printer over my LAN, and tried to print from a workstation ... it works fine now ... when looking error_log, I can see than there is no more Ghostscript error .
But I have a last question .. if somebody can answer ... When choosing a PPD file, I have the choice between 3 version :
- hpijs, 3.10.9
- hpijs, 3.10.9.11
- hpcups, 3.10.9
Don't know why onlyl the HPIJS got the ".11" and not any others ... I selected this one and here is what Cups say about the printer :
HP_DeskJet_895C_USB_ES29Z231JKGO_HPLIP HP DeskJet 895C Local Printer HP Deskjet 895c hpijs, 3.10.9.11 Idle - "ready to print"
I hope when upgrading the system, I will not get error from PPD file not found ... With my current PPD file, I get (really not sure) this error, but print is working so, it doesn't matter :

Which is basically Western Digital informing you that their out-of-date utilities don’t support Mavericks.
In any case those utilities are not the most effective. The moral of the story is: the first thing you should do after buying a WD drive is to format it as HFS Extended (Journaled) and not install ANY of their utilities but instead use reliable applications like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper - or Time Machine.

Hello Matthew,
You should also change your temp directory to something woth no spaces, something like C:\temp.
Sapisnt sometimes has problems with the spaces in the temp path, and the Universal Installer nearly always
has a problem with this.

How to set Path on windows 98

sorry for my bit knowledge on Java first.
I am having a hard time to set a path in my windows 98.
First, I did instal Java 2SDK version 1.4.0
Then, I download j2EE RI server and documentation from sun's J2EE download site
Then, I run the installer for both the J2EE and documentation
then I did put these �set� command in a bat file.
set JAVA_HOME = C:\j2sdk1.4.0
set J2EE_HOME=C:\j2sdkee1.3.1
set ANT_HOME=C:\ant\apache-ant-1.5.3.1
set PATH=%PATH%;%JAVA_HOME%\bin;%ANT_HOME%\bin;%J2EE_HOME%\bin
My last step was to check all logging output to the current shell. So I went to the command line and type j2ee -verbose. However I got the following error message.

can you please help me how to correct this. I don't know DOS much so I may type something wrong.

Yes, I ran into the same problem on my Win 98 laptop. I used the exact same set command, but the problem was, it seems than Windows 98 forgets the set command after a shutdown/reboot.
Go into your autoexec.bat file (should be in your C:\ drive, as in C:\autoexec.bat, or I think you can type sysedit into the Run prompt (Start > Run) ) and then type in:
PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\j2sdk1.4.0\bin;
That worked for my laptop; I was able to run the javac and java programs in any directory, without referencing the full directory path each time.
Sorry, but I can't help you on the apache problem, although I suspect all you need you do is add that directory path onto the above line.

Well, like I mentioned, if DNS is not properly configured, all bets are off. And again, if you start services before making it an OD master, you could be asking for trouble. You may be able to fix the installation, but I'd seriously consider starting over.
You might be able to fix what you have well enough to make it work, but what happens in 6 months when it gets flaky about something. You may end up wondering of there was something wrong to begin with.
So yes, I'd start over.

I am getting following error-

I have checked the config path of both components and the structure of servlet is as below-

And for the properties files I have created them under the path- config/atg/dynamo/servlet/dafpipeline and config/atg/dynamo/servlet/pipeline
Inside these I am keeping the FacebookAuthStatusServlet.properties and FacebookProfileRequestServlet.properties files
The path of Initial.properties is as below- config/atg/dynamo/servlet/Initial.properties
The content of Initial.properties is -

Need help with error on Lion Server (kernel: add_fsevent: unable to get path for vp ..)

I have had some Xsan issues and one of my volumes kept failing. I did a complete hard reboot of the entire system after trying all the cvfsck options. Now the volume seems to be ok but I am now getting the following errors and can not figure out what they are. Any help to a new Admin would be greatly appreciated.

Turns out there were disk issues that I repaired by rebooting into Lion Recovery Mode (restart, hold Command-R during startup) and running Disk Utility. Disk Utility reported:
Volume bitmap needs minor repair for orphaned blocks
Invalid volume free block count
It fixed both problems and the drive then verified clean.
While I was there, I also repaired permissions, though I doubt that the permission oddities were the cause of the errors.
After rebooting into normal Lion, two things happend:
Time Machine quite happily went back to work and took a backup, no issue. Several hourlies have run since then, no problems.
Spotlight did some re-indexing. This caused some hangs (spinning beachballs) at first, but it self-cleared. It definitely didn't last long enough to re-index the entire drive; I'm guessing that it needed to re-index some of the repaired sections.
So far as I know, no files were corrupted -- but the drive is about 80% free space, so odds are that the orphaned blocks were not in a critical area.

Unabled to set Environment Variables to point to javac.exe

Hi everyone
I have recently installed the Java Development Kit 6 in my Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit installation but not been able to set the path to the javac compiler in the Environment Variables. What I have done so far is:
Opened the Environment Variables dialog obx
Created a new PATH to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin under User Variables
Added C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin to the right end of the series of directories called 'Path' under System Variables
The instructions on this in the Oracle website seems to be written for Windows XP and apparently different setup is required for Windows 7. All I want to do is every time I launch Command Prompt, the Prompt knows where javac.exe is so it can execute it without my typing the path to the compiler.
A funny thing I noticed is that Windows 7 only has a variable called 'Path' under System Variables not under User Variables.
I would like to have as much as avice/instructions as possible because it has been nagging me for quite some time and irresolvable.

Environment (env) variable names are case insensitive. So Path and PATH are the same.
The 'System' env vars are at the top.
The 'User' env vars inherit from the 'System' env vars. So every env var in 'System' is in 'User'. The 'User' exists so that two people on the same box can have different env vars.
If you want to use 'User' to set the Path then you would do it like this in the User panel.
<pre>%PATH%;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin</pre>
That would add your java path to the System one. If you are not concerned about users then you can just modify System.
You can verify the settings by opening a console window and typing the following.
<pre>set PATH</pre>
As for why it is isn't working.
- You forgot to say 'Ok'. I do this occassionally. Until you hit Ok on the Env Variables main box your changes do not get applied.
- Something is actually wrong with the path that you typed.
- Win 7 might not propogate into the OS like previous systems. I believe I have seen this. I know that the console shell was re-written for Win7 to make it a more integral part of the OS. Rebooting solves this and log in/out might as well. Or I might just be mistaken as well.

Clone dbtier error-- ERROR : Unable to set CLASSPATH

i am setting a new clone of PROD server.i restored the backup from prod and now i ran
perl adpreclone.pl dbTier
Here is the error message-->

First Creating a new context file for the cloned system.

Please check /tmp/adcfgclone_1376.err file for errors
The err file does not have anything.
I added /u02/lifedb/9.2.0/jdbc/lib to path and classpath. classpath is empty. I made cc,ar,ld,make,perl come in the path as well.
Now how do i resolve the above err?

we fixed the issue,
for a particular user we didnt add his membership in a group in security realm, we added the user to a particular group, and then restarted weblogic, and deployed the module, and then status of deployment becomes successful.

Issue Setting Paths For Sickbeard

Hi again everyone.
Man I am having no end of trouble with my system at the moment. At first I had issues with SABnzbd but finally got it sorted but the thing that I am having a lot of trouble with at the moment is sickbeard. I only installed sickbeard this week from AUR.
I already have a heap of tv shows that I want to add but I am unable to set the path to them or even add a new show and set the path to there.
I want to set the path to /home/media/video/TVShows which is on my LVM but I can't get it set. I have even set the permissions at one point to 777 to try and get it to write there but it just won't.

Yes.
In server.xml (under the config dir of the oc4j installation) there is an application tag for each web application installed. One parameter for the tag is path, which can be set to anywhere on the filesystem.

T420s - Unable to set high resolution when on external monitor via DP.

Sorry, let me clarify -
Unlike the OP, I do *not* switch back to 50 Hz on battery. However, I am running the NVIDIA beta driver. I installed this because with the Lenovo driver, the machine was not outputiting 2560x1600 over the display port. The highest resolution it would output was 2048 x 1000-something (out of the office now and don't have the exact numbers).
So yes, with the Lenovo driver the external DP was working, just not outputting the highest resolution. Installing the Nvidia driver fixed that problem. Whether it is related or not, I don't know, but with this driver I do not get 50Hz resolution on the LCD on battery -- everything stays at 60.
I have not rolled back to the Lenovo driver to test whethe this is reall a driver issue, but suggest that the OP try out the Nvidia driver.

The unable to set high resolution issue on the T420 (not the T420s) was sent to engineering by JameZ just a few days ago. See more here. I suggest you post there or contact JameZ so they know it also occurs on the T420s.

Unable to create path

I just installed Tiger and it's not letting me create new mailboxes, giving the message:
Unable to create path ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/newbox.mbox
anybody know what that could be?

It might be a permission issue - try issuing the following command in the Terminal (you will have to supply the password of an administrator's account):
sudo chown -R `whoami` ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes
(this will set yourself as the owner of the hierarchy used by Mail to store mailboxes - it should be that way but maybe something messed this up...)
