I get out of memory error when trying to set sga_target (oracle 10g) more than 2Go at a windows 2003 sp1 server.

CSA 4.5.1(657) high cpu usage on windows 2003 sp1

Hi,
We have experiancing high cpu usage on windows 2003 sp1, when somebody logs in remotely. The server has 1gb of ram and the cpu is 2ghz. The Cisco Trust Agent (1.0.55) is installed also.
When somebody logs in remotely the process okclient goes to 100% cpu and eats all the available RAM and the machine starts to swap, the pagefile has grown to 1gb. This is not all the time though, only in some cases like this one.
Could this be due to some specigic policies associated with this machine be the cause of such behaviour?

It could be due to some @remote rule but first some questions:
What is the server function?
What groups is it in?
Does it have 2 enabled NICS?
Is it sharing anything other than admin shares?
Is it a member of AD\Domain or standalone?
Why is the CTA installed?
Why is your page file dynamic and not static and why is it only 1GB (should be 1.5x physical RAM)? Growing a page file is a slow and painful process.
You can try some things right away:
Either remove if from the groups that have @remote rules or put the server in a group with no rules\policies at all. That will tell you if it's the agent or the rules causing the problem.

Unable to install Database 10gR2 on Windows 2003

I have Windows 2003 EE with Sp2 installed. I am trying to install Oracle Database 10gR2 but i get error when i click setup.exe.
The error is
*Error in Writing to directory C:\TEMP. Oracle Universial Installer needs you to have permission in this area to install. Installation cannot continue. Please make sure TEMP is set to a valid writable directory.*
Kindly please help me on this.

I am logged in as admin user and c:\temp is writable. However, i would also like to present one observation that i have made.
My Windows 2003 environment variable is as below
TEMP = %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
TMP = %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
When i use this parameter setting the error shows different path.

Not sure why this is happening and i believe Windows 2003 SP2 new security policy is restricting me to access the TEMP directory on E:\ drive

Right click My Computer, select Properties > Advanced tab > Environment variables button ...
It should be self-evident from that point.

Unable to Install jdevstudio11113install.exe on Windows 2003 IA64

I was trying to install jdeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 on ia64 windows 2003, and I kept getting error when installing:

Could not create the Java virtual machine.
Is this jdev supported on the machine/OS version?

I guess the problem is that the installer runs on a 32 bit JDK which is not the default on your machine. You can try the jar installer.

Unable to install ACS on Microsoft windows 2003 Virtual Server

I am trying to install Cisco Secure ACS on Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition which is hosted on a Microsoft Virtual Server, but the installation doesnt go beyond the enclosed screenshot.
Please let me know whether ACS can be installed on a Virtual Server or not.

We have ACS 4.0 installed in our lab systems on VM. Which VM are you running? ACS has been tested on and is only supported on VMware ESX 3.0 and later. Also, you need to have adequate resources allocated to the ACS/Windows VM instance.

Did you try to regenerate the form via adadmin? If not, please do so and check then.

Unable to set default boot as Windows XP after uninstalling Win 7

Installed Win7 on a diff partition(not primary) to enable dual boot ...during reboot process of installation, got error as 0X0000005c . after uninstallation of win7 & formating the partition, machine is still trying to boot to windows 7 as default OS . Have to manually navigate to windows xp to boot .. Plse let me know as to how to set windows xp as default os to load..

You are right being not sure :).
Do not touch the boot.ini file and do not play with Msconfig in XP!
The problem arose because Win7 replaced the XP boot manager (ntldr)
with its own (bootmgr). And uninstallation of Win7 and formatting Win7 partition
has not restored the boot manager of XP. Or, rather, ntldr remains intact on XP
partition, but the boot sector continues to launch bootmgr instead of ntldr
during the boot.
You have to choices now.
1) The first one is to restore XP's bootsector, which will launch ntldr
while booting (instead of bootmgr). This can be done by running the command
bootsect.exe /NT52 C:
(supposing that boot partition is C:. One can as well to use "ALL" instead of C:
if You are not sure which of partitions is boot). The program bootsect.exe
can be started from the folder "boot" of the Win7 installation DVD.
2) You can as an alternative to download, install and start
the program EasyBCD. Just press the button "Add/Remove entries",
click on XP entry in the list of boot menu options and press the red button "Delete".
This method will keep the boot manager of Win7 to boot XP, but will delete
the non-existent for now Win7 menu entry.

Hi, thanks for the screenshots. Your IE & FF Flash files are correct. However, the FlashPlayer Trust, I don't often see. From what I can tell this was something similar to the current Settings Manager, but for FP(Flash Player) 8 & 9 from Macromedia. I don't know if it is conflicting with the current Settings Manager or not. Cannot get a clarification on that.
All I can tell you is that most systems that I see have certain Flash files for FF and other browsers and the FlashPlayer Trust is rarely among them. Usually there are 4 Flash files for IE, 4 for FF plus the Flash Player.xpt.
In the IE add ons, did you find the Shockwave Flash Object...ActiveX Control...Flash10e.ocx (vs 10.0.45.2) and Enabled?
This will be listed as I've typed it except it may or may not list the version #, but everything else will be listed.
Now on the AVG, do you have the AVG free edition? It and the paid versions also have the LinkScanner, which causes problems. You said you Disabled AVG, did you just right click on the icon in the system tray and disable/turn off/exit?
Or did you Untick the Resident Shield active?
The LinkScanner component consists of 2 features and each needs Disabled.
With Spybot, do you use the Tea Timer?
Since FP is a browser plug-in, anything added to the browser has to be considered.

Unable to reset Eventlog Filters on Windows 2003 Server

After clearing the event log files on one of our Windows Server 2003 servers I noticed that the filter parameters have not been reset to All Records. In fact the last From date is 31 May 2013. I can reset it to Default then it displays all records. The
log files get stored and reset at the end of every month but these parameters will not change. I have disable the EventLog service and delete the EVT files, rebooted the server and reset the Eventlog Service to Automatic and restarted the service but the filter
paramets remain unchanged. I have looked in the registry but cannot identify where these parameters are held and there does not appear to be a specific INI file that stroes this information. Where to now?

As far as I know, to turn off event filtering, we need to click
All Records on the View menu.
Besides, filtering changes only the view, and has no effect on the actual contents of the log. All events are logged continuously, whether the filter is active or not. If
you archive a log from a filtered view, all records are saved, even if you select a text format or comma-delimited text format file.

Hi Stefan,
the users now have been created with the appropriate passwords. The installtion procedure now doesn't complain about missing users but the problem still remains. Here the some of the log messages:

Help -setting long classpath in windows 2003

i have around 50 jars .
i have to set classpath for all these jars.
when i try to set environmentvariables\classpath
its not taking the classpath completly.
and errors are thrown when program is compiled ..
pls help

If you're using Java 6 a new classpath feature may help:
"As a special convenience, a class path element containing a basename of * is considered equivalent to specifying a list of all the files in the directory with the extension .jar or .JAR (a java program cannot tell the difference between the two invocations).
For example, if directory foo contains a.jar and b.JAR, then the class path element foo/* is expanded to a A.jar:b.JAR, except that the order of jar files is unspecified. All jar files in the specified directory, even hidden ones, are included in the list. A classpath entry consisting simply of * expands to a list of all the jar files in the current directory. The CLASSPATH environment variable, where defined, will be similarly expanded. this problem probably occurred when a SQL user was trying to be created using a password with special characters, but failed.
Could you please copy the last couple of lines of the protocol named 'XCMDOUT.log' into this thread?
