Unable to set up IMAP work email

I've input the correct addresses, ports, encryption settings, etc and I can only get back: "the server is not responding"
Very frustrated, as my previous 4 blackberries could all be set up simply by inputting my username and password.
I really like my new phone but without email it is useless to me. I talked to Rogers tech support and they were unable to help. My IT guy doesn't have any suggestions and just says "we don't administer outside devices, talk to your wireless provider".
It's too late to return my phone so unless I can get the email running I think I might have to put it on ebay or something.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Most likely it is a firewall issue with the servers where you work.  If it is a big company, they may have done some security measures and the local IT people are not aware of this. It is not the first time I've seen this.
I would set up the local email rules in your office software to do a forward of all your incoming emails to a Gmail or some other address. Then you can IMAP or POP the email with your phone. This is actually a more secure way to handle this for both you and the company.

I need help authenticating my outgoing server settings in setting up my work email on my Galaxy S5.  It says unable to authenticate or connect to server and I even called helpdesk at my email support and they tried every possible port (80, 25, 3535 or 465 SSL) and none of them work. Please help!

You will need to get the required info to create/access the account with an email client from your school.
Are you currently accessing the account with an email client on your computer - if you have a Mac with the Mail.app, or if you have a PC with Outlook Express, etc.? If so, you can get the required account settings there.

  • I have the new ipad and tried to set up my work email and it did not work.Tried several times, what is wrong?

I am trying to set up my work email on my new ipad3 and the exchange email is not working for me. What am I doing wrong?

Make sure your work it folks are ok with the pad.  They can tell device type, and some companies simply don't want pads on their mail systems. ( yes, I know....)
There is also usually another password entering the flow, your exchange password, that may be different than your normal password.  Give your friendly it guy a call.

  • Need help setting up my work email

I'm new to Blackberry and need help with setting up my device to receive my work email (we use Outlook).  They use BES but since I purchased my Verizon Blackberry on my own, my workplace IT department will not assist me in setting it up.  Since the desktop redirector does not allow me to get attachments, that is pretty much not a great option.
We can obtain email through Outlook Web Access, so I tried setting it up through BIS based on other postings.   I've tried every combination of user/mailbox names, with and without the full domain name attached, but still getting the error, "A connection could not be established..."  I don't believe we have Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server (no /CookieAuth.dll added to web address).  On the Web Access log-in page, I do have to select a domain from a drop-down menu, if that somehow plays a role in how I configure things??
Tried setting up a forwarding rule in Outlook, but it seems annoying that all the emails received from the device are from ME, and makes replying a bit painful.
    Any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks!

you can try integrating using POP or IMAP access if available.

  • How do I set up my work email account on my iPhone?

I have an iPhone by my IT department won't support it. So I have to set-up my email myself. The problem is I'm not sure what info to fill in and where.
I am able to access my email using remotemail on the web so I'm hoping I can use that info. My details look as follows:
    http://remotemail.company.co.uk
    [email protected]
I have a user name and password which I use to login which is the same for both remotemail and my network at work.
I have been trying to use the Microsoft exchange setup option on my iPhone but am struggling.
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers

Generally speaking, you need to set up an Exchange account using the Exchange setup option, then fill out the information as listed. The server should be remotemail.company.co.uk with your user name and password being the those that you use to log into your mail site.
However, you must remember that your IT department holds all the keys to the realm, if you will. Unless they have the proper options checked on your account, such as off network ActiveSync access you will not be able to set the iPhone up with your work email account.
Do other people in your company access their email using mobile devices? What devices do they use?

  • Setting up my work email (Outlook 2007 - Exchange) to receive on my Blackberry

    Hello everyone,
I am fairly new to this whole blackberry experience....but I LOVE IT!
My question/difficulty is setting up/configuring my work email to my blackberry. My work email is on Outlook 2007 Exchange 2007, I have tried the redirect thing it talks about in the help menu. I clearly did it wrong because I am still not receiving emails from my work accout.
If anyone can help or give me some direction I would GREATLY appreciate it.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Well, there are a few questions to answer before we can direct you down the proper path...
BES -- does your firm have it? If so, stop now and go see them...BES is the best way to integrate a BB to your firms messaging environment.
Did you get a BlackBerry Data Plan on your BB? With BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS)? (Call your carrier if you are not sure.). If so, then part 2 -- does your firm place your email accessible to you out on the raw internet (no VPN) via Outlook Web Access (OWA)? If also so, then you may be able to use BIS to be the conduit between your BB and your OWA. See these instructions:
KB03133 How to associate a Microsoft Outlook Web Access email account with a BlackBerry Internet Service account
Before you ask, there's no way for us to tell you if your firm has internet facing OWA...you need to ask them.
Desktop redirector is indeed a method...but don't use more than one method (BIS, BES, Redirector)...just one...otherwise much more pain is in your future.
For general email configuration instructions, see this demo:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/blackberry101/setup.jsp#tab_tab_email
Hopefully something in here will get you going. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I've got a blackberry torch 9850 and I cannot get google apps from my school email to work on it.
According to the school's helpdesk site, I should put my full ID [..]@uic.edu as my username.
When I do it it doesn't set up gmail as my server, but my school's server.
When I try to update it in advanced options, it doesn't allow me to change the username nor does it allow me to update the server to imap.gmail.com

  • Unable to set up Google Apps email

    Hi
I am trying to set up my Google Apps email account in Apple Mail. (ML 10.8.5)
    It is an exchange account.
When enter account in Apple Mail, it creates the exchange account automatically.  However i think the incoming server is incorrect as it is not d/l emails from gmail.
I have seen notes where they say to enable IMAP on the account.  But my gmail account is set up as exchange.  Will this interfere with my exchange/push fucntionality on my ios device if I enable IMAP?
Do I have to enable IMAP at all?
    I am confused.
Thanks and I look forward to your reply.

  • Unable to set up imap on iMac

I am able to use Mail for a pop account on my 2009 iMac but can not get imap to be an option.
I use imap on my wife's and my Macbook Airs, on out iPads, and on our iPhones.
The iMac is running 10.7.4 and has the same Mail program as the Air (version 5.2(1278).
When I set up an account, the Account Summary shows server address as pop.gmail.com and there is no way to change this.
If I create this account ( my only option) and change the server settings to imap, then I am not able to send or receive mail.
    What's up?
    Lewis

It's okay if you want it as POP if that's what you are saying, but you should have no problem setting it up as IMAP. Be sure you have the correct settings. You can google search for IMAP & POP settings for gmail servers. I know the incoming port for imap is 993 and for POP it's 995. You also need to make your settings at the gmail site for IMAP or POP, depending on what you want to use and other settings you wish to make.
If you have it set up as IMAP, then you will have an IMAP GMail account folder at the bottom of Mail's sidebar. The only mailbox that is synced with Mail's main mailboxes will be the INBOX. The rest of the IMAP mailboxes will be under the GMail folder. You can expand it to see all that it contains. If you want to sync gmail's sent message to Mail's Sent mailbox, highlight the sent messages mailbox under the gmail folder and open Mailboxes in the menu. In the submenu, choose Use This Mailbox For and choose sent. You can do this for Trash, etc.
Whatever mailboxes you don't map to the main, local mailboxes will be created as needed. It's up to you what you want mapped to the main mailboxes, but I would leave the draft mailbox under gmail and just use local drafts. If you sync one and you decide you don't want it synced, open mail's preferences, accounts tab, mailbox behaviors tab, and uncheck to store on server.

  • HELP: Unable to set up a personal email account on the BlackBerry 8820

    Please advise

    Hello,
Please avoid any personal information within these forums...they are public, and you have just posted your personal email address for all spammers to troll for and use. Not wise.
Rather, you need to contact your carrier. To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will then have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.
    Good luck!

  • Ever since my upgrade to ios6 I have been unable to open my work email  which is through google.  Any suggestions?

Ever since I upgraded my iPad to IOS6, I have been unable to get into my work email, which is through Google.  No problems before update.

Downgrading to an older iOS version is not supported on iOS devices.
Make sure that you have downloaded all of the updates for your apps and see if that helps.
Try this as well. if the Apple apps are working OK and it is the third party App Store apps that are crashing - try downloading another app - any free app. See if that helps.
You said that you reset the iPad but you may have to restore your iPad to factory settings and then to a backup if you can't resolve the problem.

  • Setting up work email on iPhone

    Hi,
I'm having some difficulty setting up my work email (MS Exchange) on my iPhone 2.1. I've asked the IT administrator and she says that they won't allow (yet, at least) access to the Exchange server from outside the work network or on any device other than a computer when even in the network.
However, I know for a fact that one of my colleagues who has a Blackberry Curve is able to access the work account without any problems.
What's the deal here and is there any way I can replicate my colleague's Blackberry settings for my iPhone?
    Thanks,
    Nishant

You should post this in the iPhone forum where you're more likely to find someone with the expertise to help you. This is not the best forum for such a query.

  • I can't set up my personal email account

Hi!  am hoping someone might be able to help.  My storm was delivered this morning and I have been unable to set up my personal email accounts through the setup wizard.  I only have the option to set up a work email account using a Blackberry Enterprise server and NOT add or create an account.
I've already completed the suggestions of a previous post
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=9500&thread.id=483
i.e. setting up mailing account with vodafone and trying to activate on the wireless network but nothing seems to work.  Am I just being too impatient?? Do I have to wait for activation?  Or am I just stupid?!?!?
    Any suggestions much appreciated.

Rick you need to call them and let them know you have a new BlackBerry and have them register the PIN and IMEI number on your account, and re-establish the BIS account to your SIM.
