Unable to set up usb internet connectio.Help anyone

Recently brought a mac pro 13" & have been tryin to set up usb internet connections but it wont allow me to do this. Do apple allow usb internet connections @ all. Can anyone help plz?

Due to the way the forums work, if I respond to the very first original posting, my response gets placed at the end of the thread and keeps getting bumped down as the discussion develops and others respond to each other. That makes my early remarks seem like pontifications, and they have less and less relevance as the discussion develops.
If I respond to the last pertinent item posted (your post) it seems more like continuing the developing conversation and makes me feel more like I am included rather that like I am preaching from on high.

    You will have to contact and discuss your issue with the technical support unit of your provider.  Bimmer 7 Seriers makes an excellent point.  I too had to revert to Lion from Mt. Lion due to technical problems with a USB modem.  In my case, the modem cannot run in a 64-Bit environment.  I suspect that is your problem.
    I think that the solution lies with your provider or a different one.  There is nothing more I can do to assist you.

  • Unable to set up fibre optic/complaint/help!

    Hi all,  Was wondering if anyone could advise me about the situation I'm in. Currently having the worst customer service of my life from Sky. Here's what's happened so far: Switched to Sky from Virgin Media for TV, Broadband and phone line. TV installation went fine and was waiting on the phone line/broadband set up. However, received a very random email from Sky saying that my phone line/broadband installation had been cancelled. It was a generic email that seemed to imply I'd cancelled it/it had been cancelled by a third party. This happened right before I went on holiday, so was unable to resolve it. Now my Virgin Media internet contract has ended, I am stuck with no internet. Sky's mistake, and we suffer for it (my housemates require internet to work from home etc). But this isn't all that's happened - as, for some reason, Sky is incapable of having a complaints email, I was forced to call up. The first guy I spoke to wouldn't help me despite me being the account holder because I didn't have the bank details for the account for 'data protection laws' - despite this not actually being against data protection laws (it was never a problem with Virgin Media - unless Sky are alleging Virgin are breaking these laws/the laws don't apply equally to both companies?! I'm also trained in data protection and know this not to be true). So this call was fruitless, and I had to wait for my housemate, whose bank account we use for the Sky account, to come home from work to use the bank details. So onto the second phone call. After repeating this lengthy story twice because the woman on the phone wasn't listening, she tried to transfer me to a different department - a department which was closed, and the phone automatically hung up. Another 20 minutes wasted. So I called again. I explained the situation and the guy on the other end of the phone hung up. Lets assume that was a mistake. So I called again, and instantly asked to speak to a manager. The manager was very helpful and apologised for what I'd been through so far (including stating that the earlier woman on the phone should have known what time departments closed and it was unprofessional of her to try to transfer me), but that he couldn't do anything at this time because the department needed was closed. Nearly 40 minutes of phone calls to be told what I should have been told at the start - nothing could be done. He promised that one of his team would call me back at 1pm the next day (today) to resolve the issue. It's now 2pm and I haven't had a call. I assume it's not coming. I really am at my wits end with this. Obviously I can't use the online chat function because I currently only have mobile internet to work from (thanks, Sky!). I know this isn't the place for complaints, but I've exhausted all other avenues and this does at least relate to setting up Fibre Optic internet. Any ideas... anyone?!

    Regarding the cancellation of your order its not something anyone here can help with as this is a customer to customer only forum there are no Sky staff here to assist,you will have to keep on at Sky to progress your complaint.
    Have Sky given you any information as to why your order was cancelled?

    It seems that Captivate is not downloaded completely. Only one file is downloaded(i.e. .exe) , .7z file is missing.  You can follow the below instructions to download Captivate 7 via direct links.
    In order to download Adobe Captivate 7.0 Windows English, open the link mentioned below and sign in with your Adobe ID and password.

    Please Help, I deleted an account that was the same name as the administrator but was not the administrator. Also a samsung galaxy s phone was charging through the usb port.
    I closed out a program and got a message that the temp file could not be stored/saved.
    Then a Kernel panic message occurred and restart was necessary.
    The restart resulted in the screen with the apple logo and a continous swirl for 6+hrs,
    Attempted Safe Mode start up, unsuccessful,
    Single User Mode-sucess.
    Ran $ fsck_hfs -rfd /dev/disk0s2 Ran several times repairs made with one which remained. something about a node.
    No change in start up attempts
    Started with install CD matching current OS 10.6
    Ran Disk Utility Repair Permissions resulting in multiple errors:
    One line/error
    Warning: SUID file /////Ardagent has been modified and will not be repaired
    144 lines/errors of this type of series of lines
    Group permissions differ on...should be drwxr-xr-x, they are -rw-r--r-- .
    permissions differ on...should be drwxr-xr-x, they are -rw-r--r-- .
    unable to set owner and group...error 22: Invalid Argument
    unable to set permissions on...error 22: Invalid Argument
    Ran Repair Disk, result:
    Error: Could not unmount disk (in red)
    Ran Verify Disk, result:
    The volume HD appears to be ok (in green)
    Next I attempted to erase the dist to start from scratch since I have data backed up on time machine.
    Error message box
    Volume Erase failed
    Volume Erase failed with error:
    Could not unmount disk
    I am looking to solve without buying DiskWarrior unless only resort.

    So it looks like  solved it for now I will update later. What I did was after starting from the install cd for the 10.6 system I ran from terminal ran:
    diskutil disablejournaling /dev/disk0s2
    diskutil disableownership /dev/disk0s2
    diskutil repairPermissions /dev/disk0s2
    then i closed terminal and then when to disk utility and chose to repair disk with results all was fine. Then ran repair permissions and got similar results from terminal function next I erased disk and then chose to restore from time machine and it is now restoring! yea!

  • Unable to set mailbox forwarder within ECP using Internet Explorer

    We seem to have an issue that has developed where using Internet Explorer we are now unable to set a mailbox forwarder within the ECP.
    When we use Internet Explorer 11 the following is used to discover the issue:
    1. Under mailboxes select any recipient, click "mailbox features" > and under Mail Flow click "View details"
    2. Click "Enable forwarding" > "Browse" and then select and recipient you want to forward ail too.
    3. Once you click on "Ok" it will be observed that the field in IE is blank account to forward to is not there.
    We have tried rebooting the CAS already in case something was cached but this did not help resolve the issue.
    We have noticed that if you open the ECP and repeat the steps in Firefox or Chrome the issue is not there. This is happening on all our machines in the domain and says to me it is an IE issue rather than Exchange maybe.. Does anyone know what might be causing
    it?
    Our environment is Windows Server 2012 R2, Exchange 2013 CU6

  • HELP! how do i set up my internet so i can use BB messenger and Apps world?!

    right. ive looked everywhere on the internet for help and i cant find what im looking for. i phoned up Vodafone and asked for the Blackberry Internet Service and they added it to my contract.. 
    but now im stuck. i know that it has to say GPRS or something in the corner, and mine only says GSM, so first i want to know how to change this?
    second,  when i click Setup>Set Up Wizard> Email Setup  im sure theres meant to be an option to make a new address? but mine only says "i want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server" and when i click next it asks for an activation password ?
    i also tried to set it up on the blackberry site, and it asks for me to first choose my wireless service provider from a list of one.. how do i find out which one it is? and the only options are canada and united states.. i live in the UK! 
    also, i read something about "host routing table"?
    and when i click this and try to register an account it says "registration message queued. it will be sent once data coverage is available" whats this mean?

    That simply indicates that your Vodafone account is not yet provisioned with the BlackBerry Data Plan.
    Try this:  With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
    Now, try the personal email setup again.
    If still no personal email setup, you need to call Voda and get an ETA on the provisioning.

    First, I can’t open password request screen on http://192.168.1.1. 
    Second, when "Setup wizard" runs step #6 (“Check the router’s status”), the program asks for the password. Default password “admin” is rejected by the program and I can’t install Linksys software. Just in case I already pressed reset switch on the back of the router but to no avail. 
    Third, I don’t find out my Ethernet Adapter Wireless Network Connection and correct router’s IP address using ipconfig/all command after connecting WRT54GS with my computer. Ethernet adapter: DHCP disabled, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, IP address 10.32.132.193, default gate 10.32.132.1.
    Tell me please: what’s the matter?

     Seems interesting , first do this -  push the reset button on the back of router .
    push it till 30 seconds , unplug the power cable and plug in the power cable back in After completion of 30 seconds.
    then try to log into , 192.168.1.1 again . with the password "admin".
    see if it reply?

    Open Mac Mail.
    From the menu bar click Mail > Preferencees then select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab then click + to add the account.

    Did you buy your phone unlocked from Apple or did you have the original carrier unlock it? Or did you have some third party unlock it for you? If the latter, and you are trying to set the phone up with a different carrier than the original, you're going to have problems as the update most likely reversed the unauthorized unlock.

  • Could you please help me connect my Telstra usb internet stick to my new Macbook Air? This is my first Mac and I am really struggling!

    I just brought my first Mac at Christmas and I am trying to connect my Telstra usb internet stick to it.
    The Mac recognises the internet stick and the widget pops up for the stcik but then asks me to register the internet stick with this computer. I am provided with a a description on how to do this (go to Open Network Preferences > a new pop up will say New System/internet found etc), but the "new system/internet pop up never appears, so I can click on the "directIP" showing on the left hand sinde of the Open Network Preferences windon, but then I dont know where to go from there.
    Could anyone help me with a step by step (aka lamens description) of how to fix this?

    Hey there, my experience with the Telstra USB internet dongles is a little different, don't think you need to fuss with settings and all that, it's basically designed to plug and play almost.
    When you plug it in, it should prompt you to install the Telstra utility. Have you done this? You will know because in your 'Applications' you will see a Telstra icon. You need to use this utility to connecto the internet.
    So, if you have this, simply double click it and when the utility opens, click 'Connect' and as long as the dongle can detect the network it will connect. There should not be any other configuration required.
    If that utility is not there, then install it. When you plug in the dongle, you will see it appear as a drive, should be able to just double click it and then go through the installation process.
    Failing all that, head into a telstra store and the guys there will sort it out for you quite quickly.

    1) i restarted the workspace and planning services but even then the same issue.
