Unable to share, export or drag and drop
iPhoto Application (problems just started)
1)Can't drag and drop from library to desk top
2)Unable to share or export
3)If library photo is double clicked I get a black frame with a "caution" symbol with ! point in center
4)In the picture menu bar there are framed pictures as well as black frames with a dashed white square symbol in center
What has or is happening? Is there any way to correct problem?
Had a recent diagnosis done on IMac. Was told failing power supply and failing hard drive. Have replaced the power supply.
Is above indication of failing hard drive?

Unlikely.
This is a problem in the LIbrary and not the application. So reinstalling is unlikely to have any effect.
Try rebuild the Library.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

We havent done any testing of CR4Eclipse with MyEclipse. Could you try and see if everything works OK on a standalone version or if you get the same problem.Â

Unable to drag and drop mp4 movies into itunes but the file will import and play using home sharing
Strange problem with my brothers MacBook.
The movie files were converted to mp4 format ready to be played on an iphone and I imported them into my iTunes on an iMac with no problems.
Files were also saved onto a flash drive which I passed on to my brother.
My brother was unable to import files by drag and drop and also by "add to library", we even copied and pasted files from the flash drive to the desktop but that also didn't work.
Using "home sharing the movies imported and played with no problems.
Any ideas why this is happening?This appears to be a long-standing bug:

Oddly, it's possible to do the reverse, i.e. drag multiple eml files from Explorer to a TB folder. -
I am unable to create a new folder on either of my auxillary disk drives. I can access the files and folders that were there when I transferred one of the drives from a PC. Time machine uses one for backup and I want to use the other to store photos which are large files. An help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the reply. If I reformat the drive will I be able to access the files on it from the MAC. I do not share the drive with a PC. The files were originally created on a PC which I no longer use. I do want to continue to access the files put there by the PC. I would like to not have to copy them over to the MAC hard drive just to use them. The second aux drive is new and works fine because it was formatted by the MAC. I can drag and drop files there and work with just as if they were on the internal drive.

Unable to drag and drop out of aperture

As of a few days ago i've had a slight problem with my aperture libary.
I can no longer drag and drop images out of aperture onto the desktop or other apps etc.
I have not changed anything it was working fine until just recently - I haven't modified or done anything to change the behaviour.
Aperture settings has previews enabled.
I have attempted to regenerate previews by selecting images and clicking regenerate
I have rebuilt permissions
I have rebuilt the entire library
I have re-installed aperture
I have manually deleted previews and thumbnails from within the aperture library to force a rebuilt.
Nothing works.
I cannot drag out files
with the exeption I can drag and drop files which have had edits done to it - so the original master has been edited and it's created a modified version.
As I said - previews are enabled and I can also right click and export version or master without issues for any files.

Have you enabled "New projects automatically share Previews"?
How is "Share Preview with iLife set"?
I have manually deleted previews and thumbnails from within the aperture library to force a rebuilt.
Has the rebuild worked? Have you checked in the "Masters" folder, if the previews actually exist for the images, that will not be dragged?
Have you checked each project in question, of the Previews for that project are enabled?
Select each of the the projects in question and ctrl-click (right-click) the gear-icon in the upper right corner of the Library inspector. Check the setting for "Maintain previews for project".
If the previews are disabled in that menu, you cannot drag previews from the library.

Unable to upload a file with Drag and Drop and http
Hello,
I am trying to upload a file through the web interface (Netscape 4.7 and IE 5.0). When I click un upload, Via Drag and Drop, a new window is started, but never completes.
With Netscape, I get a message box: Netscape is unable to locate the server null. Please check the server name and try again.
With IE 5, I get an error: This page can not be displayed.
Are there any files I need to edit on the PC side to get this to work?

Drag & Drop is really just uses the browser built in FTP ability. -

Make sure your windows userid has full control and ownership over the entire music folder. Check the box to apply this to subcontainers (aka subfolders)

Drag and drop does not work in Exported release build
I am using the built in DragManager class to handle some drag and drop functionality in an application. When running from flex builder, It runs exactly as expected, but when I export the project to a release build, Dragging only works in the vertical direction. How is this possible? What might be causing such strange behavior.
Any help would be much appreciated.Sorry, I will try to be more clear. I am using drag and drop simply to move items around on a Canvas. This works perfectly when running from flex builder, but when i export a release build it starts behaving strangely.
I can drag items up or down on the canvas no problem, but as soon as I try to drag items left or right, there is no response. On a windows machine, it gives me the black circle with a slash through it icon, implying that the drag is not accepted. On Mac, there is no icon, it simply will not drag.
Hope that clarifies it, I could really use some help figuring this issue out.

I can confirm that the call to DragManager.acceptDragDrop is being reached in both cases, but the DragEvent.DRAG_DROP event is not being handled in the release build, (it is reached when run from flex builder) -
I am using the firefox version 17 and when i drag and drop an image on my website. It gives me the following error.

I have completed the above steps and it is still showing the same error message. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Yes the drag and drop functionality is java script based and i am not using any script blocker addons. -

I am trying to drag and drop a JLabel from a JPanel into another JPanel. I am no where near to figuring it out, but just for starters I notice that the exportDone() method is called in my custom TransferHandler immediately when the drag begins. Even stranger, createTransferable() is never called. (I am comparing my code to the DragPictureDemo that I found online). The question is, why is exportDone called immediately? Code below. Thanks. (BTW, any other suggestions about what I'm trying to do would be appreciated. I'm not confident in the direction I'm taking here... have yet to understand the Swing DnD mechanism...)
From DragPictureDemo, I notice that createTransferable and exportAsDrag are called immediately upon drag, and exportDone is called at the drop.

edit Since your earlier post, I've been trying to teach myself Swing DnD, but am finding the documentation confusing and the tutorials primitive... I'd reached a conclusion, which has every chance of being wrong, that I should call createTransferable from exportAsDrag. FWIW these are the methods as of now -- nothing works :-( @Override

I can "export", using file, many iphoto events to a data disk. When I do the same to a DVD the DVD window is blank and nothing has been exported. When I use drag and drop to a DVD it works but I can only get one event on the disk. How do I export many iphoto events to a DVD. I am using a write only DVD. I am using a Mac Book Pro OS 10. Thanks in advance.
GordWhen I click on the data stick icon on my desk top a window comes up. It lists the various events that I have exported. If i click on an event each picture shows up in a list. I can click on the picture and view a jpeg photo or view a avi video. When I export I select "original" as the file type. When I export to a DVD and klick on the the DVD icon the window shows up but it is blank.

Where are you dragging them to ?
You Can do it two ways using Drag.
One is to the Buddy's Name in the Buddy list and letting go (it gets sent as a loose file)
The Second is to drag it to the Text field during a Text chat (Excluding Group Chats)
The First causes an Invite to accept to pop up on the Buddies Screen.
You can also see see when it is Accepted (you may even have to confirm sending depending on your Settings)
The Second gets sent as a File Link in the Chat which the Buddy has to Also Accept...
You can also send files by highlighting a Buddy and going the the Buddies Menu > Send File.
This method tends to point to error with the File Transfer port not being open.
So...
Check you can send Files first by all three methods. (these tends to ignore Firewall and Router settings as it is Outgoing)
Get your Buddy to Send by all three methods.
IF this is AIM and you are having issues log out of the Account (IChat > Preferences > Accounts > Account Info Tab (Deselect "Use this Account")
Now go to the Sever Settings
Change the Default port from 5190 to 443.
iChat Logs in on port 5190 using the TCP Protocol.
File Transfers or Direct IMs when done in a Chat are sent on Port 5190 but on the UDP Protocol (It is Peer-to-Peer).
Some Router don't like this dual Use.
If you still have issues then you will need to either Enable the Firewall and check iChat in in the List of allowed Apps and/or open port 5190 in you router. (on the UDP Protocol if stated)

Unable to drag and drop files or folders
Hi
I'm unable to drag and drop files or folders. I can't drag from a folder to desktop, I can't drag from finder. I can't move files around. I can't drag from itunes into ipod.
I've run Onyx and disk permission repair, cleaned all caches etc, all to no avail.
Get info tells me I have read and write permissions.
Can someone please help me.
ThanksI'm having the same problem, the terminal command to make that testfile worked, guess its a good sign but i wouldn't know, I also have a couple of extra problems:
It started with VisualHub saying "Critical componats of Mac OS X are missing or damaged on your system, Without them, VisualHub is unable to continue. The affected componats is/are: - /tmp Temporary Directory. Try Repairing Permissions using Disk Utility"
So i did that using OnyX, rebooted, still didn't work, so i remember hearing about how reinstalling .3 of 10.5.3 can help replace files that are lost, so i did that and thats where it went wrong, it rebooted and it seemed to go good, but then i noticed a big ? where Camino is meant to be on my Dock and i looked in my stack and it was gone, Safari would crash on the 5th letter i typed anywhere on the browser, (Safari and Webkit Nightly) At least Firefox works so i can post this, Spotlight is gone from the menu bar, i can't drag anything from the dock and i can't drag safari from the App stack or the dock crashes.
The thing that worries me is why was Camino deleted? and Safari crashing?
If anyone has a solution to this you would be a HUGE help, i really don't want to reformat my mac because i don't have anywhere to backup my files, i don't have the money for a decent sized HDD to backup into.
