Unable to shut down Creative Cloud Desktop

Nothing works for me this is really frustrating. Trying to uninstall give me this error. And how do I quit Creative Cloud?. No options at all.Open Updater brings the updater I start and again gives me the first error message....!!!

Branching this to a separate discussion as the behavior from the previous discussion does not appear to be related to the current error.
Luiescorial are you unable to quit the Creative Cloud Desktop application?  Have you tried force quitting the application?  Rebooting your computer?  What exact steps have you implemented?  Also which version of Mac OS are you using?

  • Blank white screen in Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop

I just had this issue after a passsword reset/update. I just wanted to thank the Adobe support team for the solution. Renaming the OOBE folder worked and was exactly what I needed to do.
My question is, was it the password reset or the update? If it was the password reset, shouldn't ACCD detect that a password reset has occured and prompt for log in? Is this going to happen each time I reset my password? If so, that is quite inconvenient.
For those that are having this issue, the solution is a bit buried, but you shut down Creative Cloud Desktop, rename the folder OOBE (or the file inside of it) to .old and then restart Creative Cloud Desktop.

  • Unable to download using the Creative Cloud desktop

When I try and download applications I get the following message: "Installation Failed.  Unable to reach Adobe servers. Please check your internet connectivity, firewall setting, and then try again."
I am definitely connected to the internet and have disabled the firewall but still have them same issue.  I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the creative cloud desktop.
    Operating System: OS X 10.8.4
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Penny,
    Welcome to the Community!
Please check the hosts file in your Mac and delete all the Adobe entries from the hosts file. Location is as follows:
    Finder>> Go>> Go to folder>> /etc>> Hosts
Open the hosts file with Textedit and delete the Adobe entries (If available)
Once you have deleted the Adobe entries from the hosts file launch Adobe Creative cloud.
If the issue is still not resolved then please check http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html for further troubleshooting.

    1) WHAT if I juse JUST ONE Adobe program pretty often?
They have a single use subscription for $20/mo.  Similar to upgrading extended version every 1.5 years.
    2)  WHAT if I created projects like 2 months ago and I didn't use Photoshop for a full month.  Who assures us that with the CC series the projects are opened with the old CS ones?Or don't use it every day?
Same problem if you own it.  If upgrade price is $400 every 1.5 year that is same as $16/month.  You can choose not to update and version will be same as when you last used it.
    3) WHAT if I don't use Adobe 24/7?  and 5) Making an day-based subscription??  Same problem if you own it.  If upgrade price is $400 every 1.5 year that is same as $16/month.
    4) Adobe, do you think to be the only one making these softwares?
Competition is always a factor in market.
    6) After all this mess, you discriminate Europeans, too?
Taxes charged by Governments and municipalities are not controlled by Adobe.

  • Creative Cloud desktop keeps trying to reinstall updates

Just over the last week or so, Creative Cloud desktop keeps trying to reinstall the same updates for Photoshop CC, Photoshop 6 and Bridge CC over and over again. As we do not have a fast broadband connection, this blocks the internet for everyone else at the same location for about an hour. I am running Bridge 6.0.1.6 and Photoshop CC 14.2.1. I thought I had wholly uninstalled PS6 on the machine in question (Retina MacBook Pro), so I don't understand why CC desktop is trying to update it. Updates have installed for each of the last three days, so I cannot imagine there is another huge update waiting to install again today, as CC desktop shows.
In addition CC destop keeps losing LightRoom 5 from my Apps. I already had a copy of LR5, which came with a Leica Camera but just to make sure it was linked to my CC acount, I reinstalled it via the CC desktop. It was showing as one of my updated apps but this morning has dropped down to showing "install" again, even though the latest version 5.4 is defintiely installed, synched and working.
    HELP!!

I guess I'm a little mystified by this reply.  I've reported no problem signing in or out of adobe, nor have I experienced any.
I've been going along with a creative cloud desktop and updates for over a yr now so not sure how my install would suddenly be 'faulty'.  Complete removal and reinstall is something like a days work if you have any related difficulties at all yet it seems to be the most often suggested remedy.
Is there no chance of something that does not require a hefty input of my time getting the tools to work rather than using them, that can be done to remedy what seems to be something like a stuck routine in the install routines?
Any other folks with an idea about this?

  • Creative Cloud desktop application fails to launch

I'm trying to install photoshop on my macbook, however, the Creative Cloud desktop client won't launch. It opens for a few seconds then shuts down with no error message. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but same thing happens. When I login in online, and try to install Photoshop that way, again, the Desktop client launches then shuts down after a few seconds. Earlier this evening I accidently wiped my mac by deleting everything using Filezilla (:-/). Related? Do you know how I can fix it? Thank you!

Jlkj did you format and reinstall your operating system?  Are you attempting to recover from a back up?  If so did you only move over your documents and settings?  Finally what version of Mac OS are you using?

  • "Updating Creative Cloud desktop" hung -- now what?

Was prompted this morning to update Creative Cloud desktop app (Window 7). Accepted and waited, then, when prompted, allowed installer to run as administrator. The green progress bar has been stuck at nearly done for about 30 minutes. I tried shutting down every other obvious running program to no avail. When I started the update, Google Chrome was open along with a couple of local apps.
Can I safely kill the "Adobe Installer" program with Windows Task Manager and then install the desktop app from the new copy of CreativeCloudSup-Up.exe file I downloaded this morning? Do I need to reboot before installing?
    Edited to add the following:
No other Adobe apps (e.g., PS, LR, Reader) were running when I started the update.
    Edit: corrected spelling
    Thanks,
    -- Sam

When I tried to kill the installed via Windows Task Manager, I was told that the program was waiting for input from me but there was no prompt so I killed the process mercilessly. When I tried to uninstall the application, I was told that another copy of it was running somewhere in memory. So I rebooted, uninstalled the app, installed afresh from this morning's "CreativeCloudSet_up.exe" file, logged in to my Adobe account, and all seems well.
Was not thrilled with the experience but, hey, it's working now.

  • I am unable to apply my Creative Cloud updates

I've been eagerly awaiting the "October" updates to the CC products overviewed at IBC. I spoke to a customer service rep who didn't seem to fully grasp the English language, but he was unable to give me an approximate day that I should be getting these updates.
This is not good, and your Customer Service reps should know when you're planning to roll out major product updates. But that's not why I'm replying to this thread.
Finally, just now today, Creative Cloud tells me the updates are available.
When I try to update each individual app, or hit the Update All, they all always fail. It's almost like the app doesn't even try to connect with a server to download. I can open up a popup window that says that it failed to download (with 49 in brackets... I'm assuming that's the error number).
After waitng, restarting, and retrying multiple times, I gave up.
Going into a specific app and choosing Help>Update, I was able to download most of the updates without problem using the old Adobe Application Manager. Previous minor updates downloaded just fine.
Why can Adobe Application Manager download updates, but Adobe's Creative Cloud desktop app can't?
Please workout these bugs. My company pays top dollar for these apps, and we're constantly paying—because we have no other choice—but also because we want all the new features.
So far, Creative Cloud has been a headache. These sorts of stupid bugs, coupled with the recent major leak of credit card information is making me weary about wanting to continue using Adobe software in the future. This and the fact that I'm constantly having to re-accept the Licence Agreement, which stops any files I was trying to open from opening on launch. Waste of time.

Checked out that link and everything seems to be in order on this machine at this time.
I only have CC installed on this one machine, not even my secondary machine like is permitted. it seems odd that I'm asked to re-accept the Licence Agreement as often as I am. If I had to guess, it's almost every week, if not multiple times some weeks, that all the software will decide I should have to view the licence agreement.
Edit: I've never had any noticeable "errors" activating or anything like that. I just get asked to do it quite frequently.
This activation screen isn't too annoying (it involves clicking one single button), but like I stated earlier, if I'm trying to launch the software by double-clicking on a PSD, AI, PPROJ, AEP, etc... that file will fail to open.
I feel like that's probably not really a bug, but it is frustrating, since I did launch the application with the intent to edit that specific file I tried to open.
Again, something that you guys may consider working on.
Another annoyance is that: agreeing to the licence agreement is a per-application task, so if I see that Licence Agreement dialogue window by opening Photoshop (for example), I know that every other piece of software I have in the suite (Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, Audition) will be showing me that screen on it's next launch. Probably deliberate for legal purposes that I can't just agree once for the whole suite, but heck, it would save me a lot of minor headaches if it was a unified agreement.

  • Creative Cloud Desktop issue: "you've been signed out" when trying to sign in

    Hi,
Following the resolution guide for this issue on the adobe site, I have deleted the opm.db file from the oobe folder.  But the issue still remains.
    Steps carried out
    Quit the app
    Deleted opm.db file
    launched the app
    signed in
    same error
I have also done a restart after deleting the file.
    I also reinstalled the application.
Is this issue due to the maintenance?  My Colleague has the same issue.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi All,
    Issue:
When you launch the Creative Cloud desktop app, a "You've been signed out" message appears.
    Troubleshoot points of note.
    Mac Mavericks OS
This is happening on two Macs – regardless of user credentials used
This works using the user’s credentials from a PC using the windows Creative Cloud Desktop App
Creative Cloud Desktop successful downloaded one app on the 16/06/2014 to the Mac
    Adobe’s Resolution
    https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/unable-login-creative-cloud-248.html
Also tried renaming another folder – AAMupdater in the Adobe folder, as suggested on an Adobe Forum
Deleted OOBE folder in a second location (location that differs from that in the guide above)
Also used the Creative Cloud Cleaner to tidy up installation files
This issue is still on going and I have submitted a log to Adobe Tech for analysis on User: Daniel above.
If anyone has a solution please let me know.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Panel Issues

First, let me say that I've been an Adobe user for more than 18 years.
A while back (about two weeks ago) I went as usual to launch the little Adobe Creative Cloud desktop panel that shows what's installed, updated, available apps and available updates. Instead of it launching as normally, I was told that I had to LOG IN.  I'm pretty sure I did just that with my Adobe user name and pwd, but suddenly found myself no longer within the little app management panel, but instead on a screen that told me I could drag and drop files into the cloud there. I did not want to drag and drop any files at all! What I wanted was to use my CC desktop apps management panel so I could INSTALL Dreamweaver CC using the CC desktop apps management panel.
So I dismissed (exited out of) that "drag your files to here" screen. And now every time I launch the desktop panel, it asks me to log in, and every time I try, it comes back with "You've been signed out / Please sign in to continue."
I have been around that loop of changing the password several times over now, with no change to the behavior of the CC desktop apps management panel.  I simply CANNOT log in there any more ... What's perplexing is that I never HAD to log in to it before, either!  I had been using it for MONTHS since I first installed Adobe CC, and it showed me my apps list and available updates and all that just fine for quite a while, but now it has its head stuck in a corner.
Now when I launch it, I cannot get the panel to display my apps list as it should, but instead it keeps asking me to log in.  I have "changed the password" multiple times now.
Thing is, I can log in with that same user id and pwd to my CC account online through the Adobe web site, but the little desktop apps management panel is no longer usable.
Can/should I uninstall and reinstall the apps management panel?  Can I do that with the management panel ALONE and NOT cause problems with the CC programs that I DO have installed already (such as Illustrator CC, InDesign CC, and Photoshop CC?)
And why does Adobe support keep closing my case at the same time that I'm pleading with them to HELP me resolve this problem?
Should I simply uninstall the desktop apps management panel and forget about trying to use that and instead control all my CC apps directly from my account via the Adobe website instead?  CAN I do this?
Two weeks now and still not resolved.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop does not install

    Hi,
I am trying to install the trial of Adobe Creative Cloud on my Mac (10.9.5). When I run the Creative Cloud Installer, it shows 'Downloading Creative Cloud desktop' and then stops with the error message 'We’ve encountered the following issues: Installer was unable to create a critical file/directory. Please try installing again. (Error code: 44)'.
Here is what I tried so far:
    1) Trying again yields the same result.
    2) Trying the install from my admin account yields the same result.
    Other info:
    1) The machine has a licensed copy of Adobe Creative Suite 5.
    2) I previously installed a trial of CS6 but have since removed that to go to CC instead.
    3) Removal of the CS6 trial by the uninstaller failed - I had to remove components manually.
Does anyone have an idea what the issue could be? Very frustrating as I need to start using CC as soon as possible and purchase a subscription.
    Best regards
    Tim

    Hi Jeff,
I came to the same conclusion but finding the permissions problem was like hunting the needle in the proverbial haystack. I don't think using a temporary directory as you suggested is a solution as the user has no control on where the installer is actually installing the files.
In the end I did as follows:
Manually removed all Adobe products from my internal disk and cleaned caches, app support folders and preferences (BTW, that did not allow the installer to work either).
Cloned my internal SSD drive to an external hard disk.
    Formatted my internal SSD drive.
    Re-installed Mavericks 10.9.5.
    Installed CC Desktop successfully.
Pulled all my stuff back on to my internal SSD drive from the external hard drive using Migration Assistant.
It took a little time, but everything now works as it should.
    Problem resolved!
    Tim

  • Creative Cloud desktop app totally empty - not even Preferences...?

I have from before Production Premium CS6 and Lightroom 4 installed on my computer (Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB RAM).
I joined then CC Photography Package and after login to my account I went to the DL section to download one of the programs and install it. The Creative cloud desktop app is installed, but it is empty. Not only is there neither a Photoshop CC nor a Lightroom 5 there, there's no menu and if I try to determine the app version as in http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-missing-text.html - there's not even a Preferences to select...
I get no error message, and going to the Download center and trying to download Photosgop or Lightroom just gets me a blink of "waiting for creative.adobe.com..." and then focus is changed to the empty Creative Cloud desktop app.
Checking my account I can see that both my product licences for CS6/LR4 are there, as is my CC Photography package.
I can add that I have restarted the system, reinstalled the Creative Cloud app and tried other things I can think of. But I still only get an empty Creative Cloud app, without a possibility to login to my Adobe account.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App Doesn't Work Windows 8.1

The Creative Cloud Desktop App doesn't work on my PC running Windows 8.1. As shown below, no apps appear and the settings dropdown does not function with either left or right click. I have tried to uninstall, reinstall, change the name of the OOBE folder, connect directly to my cable modem by passing my router, removing all internet & firewall protection and I am unable to download any CC apps that I do not have on my PC. I have been updating existing apps from the help menus in the apps and have not used the CC app for downloads for a long time so I do not know when the problem started, but it does not work now. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Automatic updates are also not working.
    Thanks,
    Barry

Turning off "Enable Protected Mode" in the Security Tab of Internet Properties allowed the Creative Cloud Desktop App to function properly. I am still looking for a better long term solution that does not put my computer's security at risk.

  • Creative Cloud Desktop install crashes Windows Explorer and hangs

This all started with my inability to activate Adobe Acrobat on my computer after wiping the hard drive and reinstalling the OS.
I had no trouble initially downloading or installing anything from the Adobe Creative Cloud. I ran several apps and they worked (albeit in trial mode for a day or two)
And then the Initial Problem: Trying to Activate Adobe Acrobat failed to get pass the sign-in screen.
It would hang for about 30 minutes and then come back to the error that the computer's clock must be incorrect or an error with the Internet connection. (It's a standard error documented on Adobe's site that says you need to make sure your computer can really get to all of Adobe's activation servers/sites/etc. I double-checked everything in the troubleshooting list to be sure but found nothing wrong with the computer or the ability to get to Adobe's sites.
Exasperated. I went online for tech support. It was definately Level 1 support (had me checking all the stuff I had already spent an hour checking - and had already told him I tested it all).
Anyway, I spent an hour on the chat with Adobe Tech Support going through the usual stuff.
He had me check virus programs, computer clock, conenctions to Adobe sites (like the licensing servers). But nothing ever helped or worked. Then he told me to try going directly to the Adobe Creative Cloud site and trying to download and install the Creative Cloud desktop manager. I did that but it hangs when it launches the manager on the initial window with a black/grey Creative Cloud bar at the top (with the tool drop-down on the right side) but the rest of the window never loads.
After an hour of going in circles I decided it would be better to try again later with someone in second-level support.
In the meantime, I uninstalled ALL Adobe applications. There is no Flash-Player, no Acrobat Reader - nothing from Adobe in my programs list.
I then tried to download and install the Adobe Application Manager. It works up to the point where it launches the Creative Cloud Desktop tools and then hangs at the same place.
There is a Creative Cloud window with the normal black/grey bar at the top - but the rest of the window (where you would normally see and load the apps from) stays empty.
I have rebooted the computer several times to be sure it is a fresh start. That has not helped at all. One additional thing I have noticed in these multiple attempts is that when the Creative Cloud Desktop Manager installer gets about 95% done, it causes Windows Explorer to crash (not Internet Explorer but Windows Explorer). Once Windows Explorer resets, Creative Cloud continues the installation but then opens the window (above) that has nothing but the black/grey header.
I'm struggling for what to do next. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Right now I am paying $50 a month for something I can't even install or use.
For what it's worth, the system is an HP laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. 8GB of RAM and plenty of HDD space. All security updates applied and Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1. I doubt that any of that last line is relevant since I could run all of this with no problem before wiping the hard drive AND it was all running with no problem - other than Activating Acrobat at the start of this whole issue.

    Jim,
You are a lifesaver! I can't think of how many additional hours of frustration you just saved me - but Thank You!!
After posting, I had determined (like you said), that Explorer must be doing that for a reason. I created a new user profile on the system (added a user temporarily) and observed the same behavior of Windows Explorer (stopping/starting) but then continuing to work as it should. At that point I knew the answer was somewhere in the user's profile but I would have had no idea where to look. The opm.db file was indeed the culprit.
I sure do appreciate the excellent help.
    Jay
