Unable to SMPTE LOCK automation

i am still struggling here with this locking issue!! the regions are locking fine, but the automation is NOT locking on any of my projects...
After SMPTE locking automation, by accessing the automation event list, selecting all, and then locking everything, I can still click and MOVE automation, which results in the flattening out of the yellow automation curve across whatever track's automation I clicked on and moved, and thus the disappearance of the automation I've done.
If I change the tempo, after locking automation, even by the slightest amount, which is the ultimate reason why I am doing this, ALL yellow automation curves flatten out across ALL tracks, and same thing, as a result of the flattening, any automation I have done disappears.
So the problem is that I am not able to SMPTE lock the automation. And I would like to know if anyone knows what is causing this issue, so I can make the change, get the automation to lock, so I can ultimately change the tempo of the song without effecting automation or positioning of regions.

I am working with logic pro 8. ischwartz gave me the most concise instructions on how to SMPTE lock automation, he even let me send him a file, and he was successful in solving the issue on his machine, but still I could not get down to the bottom of it myself.
eriksimon's post doesnt help because I already know how to lock SMPTE position, open a new window containing only automation, etc, etc. i am TOO familiar with all that.
I need to be able to line up my vocals EXACTLY based on the proper tempo. I left this alone for a while because I thought I could pull off guesstimating where my voice can be copied and pasted for the choruses and be satisfied with that, but I'm realizing now that my project is almost complete, that I am not satisfied with guesses.
I cant make 1000 copies of my album, thinking that certain parts are slightly off, however slightly they may be. and the only way to get it to sound 100% natural so audio vocal regions can be copied and pasted with exaction, is to have the tempo SET prior to starting projects OR change the tempo from the default 120 to the proper tempo for each song NOW, which will only be possible through effectively locking all automation and of course, keeping all automation in tact.
Anyways, I didn't set the tempo prior to beginning these projects, so back to the issue at hand, I need to be able to lock automation, so I can change the tempo on projects that are almost compete -- full of automation (though only volume), full of cuts and pieces of regions here and there, and overlapping regions in some places.
Something is just holding me back from being able to lock automation, so I can change the tempo and solve my ultimate problem. And i feel like it might be something very simple...
Anyways Ive described this issue in every possible way I can. I just hope that there's somebody out there who can help me get this right.

I'm pretty sure this is a bug and would appreciate if others can verify this. In Logic Pro X, I've inserted a few markers. When I choose "SMPTE Lock" there is no visual indication that the marker is locked at all, except for the fact that I can't move it anymore. In Logic 9, you can easily tell when a region or marker has been locked.

SCORE: Sustain Pedal + SMPTE-Lock = Ped. Markings Disappear (Bug?)

Sustain pedal markings normally displayed in the Score Editor will disappear from view if the region becomes SMPTE-locked. The controller information itself is still there (it can be seen via hyperdraw or in the event editor) but the pedal graphics disappear in Score. Doesn't seem normal. Can anyone confirm this lil' scenario?

Unable to kill locks in table

I have identified a lock on a table and have killed the id holding the lock
alter system kill session '119,63799'

But after this, it shows that the lock is still present for ID 119.
On trying to kill the session again, it says "User session does not exist", but the lock is still present.
Is there a way to solve this problem without a database BOUNCE.

Sounds like something that I often face or faced recently. When the session with sid 119 is killed, and locks still persist on the same object, and when you tried to kill the session again, you got the message "User session does not exist". My suspicion here is that at this moment, it is a different sid that is holding up the object. If you kill that one, another one could suface
I believe Mohamed's suggestion is right - kill the OS process id that they all should be gone at once

Unable to retore locked iPad mini

So, I'm having a serious problem. I was testing out the Find My iPhone feature, and locked my iPad Mini just to see how it worked. Now, the ipad won't accept the passcode I'd typed in, so it's now locked and disabled. I've resigned myself to losing everything and being forced to update, but when I try to do so with itunes it won't work. I don't have a backup. So I'm trying to wipe the thing and restore, and after an hour of waiting for it to download the update each time, but itunes just keeps giving me an error saying that the network timed out. I have the most resent version of itunes. I've tired this in recovery mode, same thing. I've tried turning off my firewall and antivirus. I can not get this to work and my iPad is now a brick. Can anyone help me?

Unfortunately you have triggered Activation Lock, Apple's premier security feature and the scrounge of the NSA/CIA/FBI and other nasty three-letter agencies. Until you sort out the AppleID issue (which the device needs in order to unlock), there will be no joy. You may need to resort to Apple Support for that and need to visit a Store.

Unable to view locked data in Data Forms

Hi,
Does anyone know why we are not able to view locked data (it just shows empty orange cells) in Data Entry Forms? We added a column to the Data Form with the prior quarter information. This is just for information purposes and not for entering data, so the users see in one single form what they entered in the prior quarter. Unfortunately the cells do not show any data when the prior quarter is locked.

Unable to access locked iPhone

I locked myself out of my iPhone 4.
I followed all of the instructions posted here, but when I restore from my iTunes backup, it keeps the old passcode that I don't know. Is the only way to get around this to start from scratch on my iPhone? Because I really, really don't want to do that.
I have tried this restore multiple times but to no avail. Help?

I ended up having to reset to "factory settings" because the last backup I had on my iMac (like you) was done AFTER I had changed the passcode and the new passcode - which the iPhone would not accept - was part of the latest backup! Therefore restoring from "backup" was of no use to me.
Using the "Restore iPhone" when connected to iTunes has got me going again but the downside is having to reload all of the apps, data etc.
Nonetheless, I'm "up and running" again with an iPhone that's accessible.

You can lock audio. Why not video.

I assume you are using beat mapping and that it is messing up your video start time.
Beat Mapping is a useful tool for some things, but in its current form it is only of limited use for positioning cue start points or hit points.
Take a look at this thread and my post at the end to see the best way to do this. Your video will never lose its start point again!

Clearing locks automation

We have OEM 10.2.0.4 and we get blocking session's from Blocking Session Count metric. Here we manually clear locks. we wanted to automate it forms related locks only thru corrective action. Can you please share your thoughts?

You can do this by creating a corrective action script based on the blocking session alert. Set the number of occurrences on the alert to the length of time you want to wait before killing the session. I had this corrective action SQL script running in OMS 10.2.0.3. (Not sure about 10.2.0.4).

Baffling: Locking SMPTE position of events within a region

So I have a project with lots of tempo changes and MIDI notes recorded to it. I now wish to paste those notes into another project with a fixed tempo (120bpm) but preserve the original positions (reflecting the tempo changes) of the notes. I don't need to have a grid or anything for this region, I just want the notes to appear at the same SMPTE positions as the original project but in a fixed tempo project. I hope this is clear...
So, I figured it's simply a case of selecting the original region in the first project, opening the event list and selecting Functions>Lock SMPTE Position. This does indeed bring up the SMPTE lock symbol next to each note (looks promising). So presumably I can simply paste this region into a new project with a fixed tempo and the notes will appear at the same position as the original region... but alas no. The notes are simply locking to the new project tempo and not preserving the original SMPTE position.
Can someone please advise me if this is the correct way of doing this, or what I'm doing wrong because I cannot get this to work and I can't think of any other way of doing it. Cheers!

SMPTE-Lock everything (including automation) in the old project.
Set the old project's tempo to 120.
Copy-Paste or drag all Regions over to the new Project.

Beat Mapping/Changing Tempo & Maintaining Automation Timing

If you've ever changed the tempo in a song (beat mapping or other kind of re-clocking), you probably know that it's extremely important to SMPTE-lock your regions before attemping those operation (this way you can adjust the tempo/metronome to conform to real-time performaces not done to a click, etc. etc. etc. without affecting/changing the relative positions of regions/notes/events).
The problem with these kinds of operations is that changing the tempo after automation has been written totally screws up the timing of the automation moves, because the spacing between individual automation events will move according to the changes you make to the tempo.
So... the solution I've come up with is to not only lock regions prior to beat mapping/reclocking, but to also lock the automation data. This is accomplished in the automation arrange page (details below). Once you're done with your beat mapping/reclocking/tempo changing, re-open the automation arrange page and un-lock the automation regions.
So far this seems to work like a charm. Here's how you do it:
Assign a key command to open the automation event editor (on any track that contains automation). Hit CMD-1 to open the automation arrange window, CMD-A, and then SMPTE-lock. (having SMPTE-lock on a key command is very handy).
To unlock the automation data, follow the same procedure, except this time CMD-A and un-SMPTE-lock the regions (also handy to have on a key command).
