Unable to start a new FB4 project

I'm a complete beginner at CF, CFB, and FB. I'm trying to follow along in the video:

However, no matter what I do in the "New Flex Project" dialog, I get this error message, and can't get past it.
Invalid root. The WEB-INF/flex folder must contain either flex-config.xml or services-config.xml.
The file flex_config.xml actualy exists, and is in the correct folder.
(See my settings in the attached image)
Note that according to a video that I watched previously, by Ben Forta, he said to change the project root for his example to:
C:\ColdFusion9\wwwroot
Which I did. In case that makes any difference.

it just jumps right into a dialog titled "Select Service Type". I don't know how to invoke this dialog. The video doesn't show. None of the buttons in the "Data Services" tab work because it complains that I need to have a project selected. I can't create a project because of the error above. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
HOLD THE PHONE! I was just high lighting the error message and file name when I noticed the difference. The new project dialog is looking for flex-config, when the FB installer, or something, put flex_config... underscore versus dash. Ok, if this is the problem... should I change the file name to suite FB? If I do, will I wreck something else?

There's another article here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/fcf_getting_started_coldfusion_flex.html that might also be an OK starting point. That said, sounds like something strange is going on because if you did the default installs really it should be pretty straightforward.
You installed CF9 beta from Labs and it's in C:\ColdFusion9? For the ColdFusion root (top box) try doing C:\ColdFusion9 and not C:\ColdFusion9\wwwroot. Might also be worth checking the checkboxes to have the defaults chosen?

What kind of computer are you connecting with? Imac, powerbook, other?
I am having a similar problem (same error) on a powerbook, but the problem is in my office (local network - sdsl router), and not at home (cable modem, wireless/4 port router) installed. With my office, I am having all sorts of other problems connecting to the network. I can only connect wirelessly, so I suspect that the AOL problem is linked to a larger network connectivity issue which I believe is ethernet incompatibility with the office's router. Best thing to do is take the client's machine to another location and see if it connects ok. If so, your client might be having some networking issues in his local space.

Unable to start a new project.

I have just installed Premier Elements 8, When I click New Project, it gets up to a loading stage called Hurdy Gurdy.dll and then comes up with a Can't load Module: Soundbytes Midisense. I click ok then it says Can't load Module: Caption. I click ok then it says Can't load module: Soundbytes Touchsense.
I am running this on a HP Dual core 2.6GH, 2 GB Mem on Vista home.
Elements Organizer works and I have updated to version 8.0.1
I have tried loading the program onto the laptop and it does work but it is unstable and keeps freezing or shuting down.
Does anyone have any idea about Can't load Module?

That's good news! I have not heard of Hurdy Gurdy, but it sounds like a music/SFX generator program, like Magix Music Maker, or similar.
As stated in the article, there are often VST's, that not only cannot be used by the NLE program, but will halt loading, or otherwise mess things up. These seem to involve "instruments" most often. I have Magix Music Maker, and it has one VST, SampleTank2.dll, which PrPro will load, but cannot use. On the first launch, after installing MMM, I got a message to the effect, "PrPro cannot use SampleTank2.dll, but will continue to load it." It does, and I only got that message once. In this particular case, the loading of that VST does not negatively affect PrPro, so all is well with it on my machine. Others are not so benign. Two known problem programs are, SoundFlower for the Mac and Native Instruments. I am certain that there are many, many more, but those two have been proven to cause issues.
As of CS4, PrPro has one neat feature on launch. It will halt on the loading of a problem VST, and write that info to a "blacklist." Next attempt to launch, will result in that VST being skipped, and with the next problem one, the blacklist will be updated. This goes on through all installed VST's, until all with a problem are blacklisted. Unfortunately, this "feature" is not documented, and there is also no message to inform the user what is going on, and urging them to continue to re-launch, until the blacklist is complete, so the poor user is in the dark. They do not know to keep trying, until the blacklist is full. That would be much better, IMHO. Fortunately, we know to instruct them to just keep launching, until the program comes up, but that is not 100% intuitive, as the user only sees the program hang, and does not know why. It's a step in the right direction, but incomplete, if you ask me. I do not think that a message has been added to CS5, but maybe Adobe has expanded the functionality of that feature.
I do not believe that PrE handles things in the same way, but could well be wrong. Remember, in PrPro, this feature is not documented, and it took one Community Professional, Jeff Bellune, months to find out the details on it. Maybe PrE is the same, and none of us has re-launched it enough times to get all VST's entered into the blacklist? Maybe Steve can comment, as he's much closer to Adobe, than the rest of us are. He also has had more looks "under the hood," than we have. I will do a bit of research and see if someone at Adobe can shed some light on PrE and how it might have similar. If I get an answer, I will report.
If there is such a feature, this would allow one to have some of the offending VST's installed, and after a number of re-launches, the VST's would just be bypassed.
More to come, if I can get some answers,

Unable to start atg wizard

I have installed atg 10.1.1 and added the plugins shipped with it. But i am unable to create a new atg project. It shows the following error
The selected wizard could not be started.
Plug-in "atg.project" was unable to instantiate class "atg.eclipse.project.wizard.ProjectWizard".
atg/applauncher/AppLauncherException
plz help..

It could be because the ATG Server runtime is not selected from Eclipse. Adding the ATG runtime path fixed the issue for me.

How do I create a new iDVD project without a theme

I completed an iMovie HD project with an opening title (white letters on black) and all my edited film clips, transitions, sound, etc. It's just the way I want it when I play it back in iMovie. I shared it to Media Browser so I could import it into iDVD. When I start the new iDVD project is appears to force me to choose a Theme. I don't want a new theme. I just want my movie to look just the way I created in iMovie. How do I over ride this step?

A couple of ways to do this ....
1. What I recommend is an "AutoStart Dvd" which involves dragging and dropping your QT movie / file while in mapview to the first / top box. This allows the movie to play in Kiosk Mode and you can also select the loop function so essentially you never actually see a start menu (just the movie) since the dvd will automatically play as soon as it's inserted into most set top dvd players or computers. (the following pic is from iDvd6 however the procedure is idential in iDvd'08 as well).

2. A One Step Dvd from a QT movie / file is also possible and this approach has no menu at all.
To burn a OneStep DVD from a movie on your hard disk:
With iDVD open, choose File > “OneStep DVD from Movie.” as pictured above.
Locate the movie you want to add in the dialog that opens, then click Import.
Insert a blank DVD disc into your computer’s SuperDrive or an external drive when you are prompted to do so.

RoboHelp Error Message - Unable to start Word

I just recently updated to the full version of 6.0 (I was
previously using X5 and had the 6.0 Upgrade). When I open the
RoboHelp Explorer and try to load any of my projects, the correct
Word document opens at the start, but then the Explorer hangs. If I
click anywhere, I get the error message, "RoboHelp Explorer was
unable to start Word."
Another person has been able to open the same project from
their machine. I've tried copying the templates from the other user
(Local Disk > Documents and Settings (user) > Application
Data > Microsoft > Templates) as well as the Adobe templates
(Program Files > Adobe > RoboHelp 6.0 > RoboHELP >
Template > Custom > Custom 1 and Custom 2). I have also tried
deleting the .RTF files from the project so that they'd have to
re-generate.
The other user is still on X5 with the 6.0 Upgrade. Is the
problem specific to that? Has anyone else seen this error message
before?

I've experienced the same problem, solved it as described
below. Not the must beautiful solution, but better than
reinstalling RH each and every day.
In my case, the "unable to start Word" problem was related to
a .dot file mess up created by RH in
Local Disk>Documents and Settings (user)>Application
Data>Microsoft>Templates.
1. Reinstall RH.
2. In Windows Explorer, open the
Local Disk>Documents and Settings (user)>Application
Data>Microsoft>Templates folder.
3. Make a backup of the fresh, non-corrupted RoboHELP.dot by
copying (not moving) it to any place on your computer or network.
4. When RH shows "Unable to start Word", close the project
and RH.
5. In Windows Explorer, open the
Local Disk>Documents and Settings (user)>Application
Data>Microsoft>Templates folder.
6. Make sure that hidden files are shown (
Tools>Folder options>View...).
7. Delete
RoboHELP.dot,
~$boHELP.dot, and
~$Normal.dot.
8. Copy the backup RoboHELP.dot created in step 3 to the
Local Disk>Documents and Settings (user)>Application
Data>Microsoft>Templates folder.
9. Restart Word. If prompted to start Word in safe mode,
select
No.
Now, my RH does this a couple of times per day so I use a
batch file, instead of copying files manually:
1. Create a copy of the
Local Disk>Documents and Settings (user)>Application
Data>Microsoft>Templates folder (on the desktop, for
example).
2. Make sure that the folder contains a non-corrupted
RoboHELP.dot file and that
~$boHELP.dot, and
~$Normal.dot are not in the folder.
3. Insert the below code in a text file and save it as a .bat
on an easy-to-access place (the desktop, for example).

Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates"
xcopy /s /i "<path to copied Templates folder>"

4. As RH goes bananas, close RH and then double click the

Making a new JSF project

I'm using Nitrox IDE for JSF, but I'm unable to make a new JSF project.
I can only make a new JSP project or a SAMPLE JSF project. Where can i select that i want a JSF project and NOT a JSP project?

No, it is possible to create a JSF project.
The steps are as follows,
* Launch New Web App wizard
* Retain the default "New Web Application" selection, Click Next
* Type in a project name "MyProject"
* Select JSP &/ JSTL Configuration, Click Next
* Check "Add JSF Support" and choose either Sun RI or MyFaces implementation, Click Next
* Review the project settings - Click Finish
A template JSF project is created.

Unable to start new project in Premiere elements 10

I have had elements 10 (both photoshop and premiere) downloaded for a while from a multi-pack and have been using photoshop with no problems at all. Tried to use premiere and start a new project from the welcome screen, but it starts loading, gets to 'Loading Importer Quicktime.prm' then does nothing. I can open the organizer, but nothing else. Tried opening a new project from the organizer, but the same problem. I have uninstalled, reinstalled from disc, and checked quicktime, flash etc are all up to date. Any ideas?

What operating system are you using?
If Windows, have you manually gone to Windows Update and ensured you have the non-critical updates (which dont' download automatically)?
How fast is your processor, how much RAM do you have and how much free, clean, defragmented space is on your hard drive?

Your system is missing a couple DLLs that LR needs, but the fix at Adobe is to copy them to the LR folder which gets replaced for each install, so you have to redo it after each LR install. It would be worth documenting the process and saving the DLLs so you don’t have to ask about it each time:

You might also use the AIO210 program to add them as detailed in this YouTube video—maybe this is a more permanent fix, but since the files are from media-fire be very careful about what you do so as not to install a virus on your computer.
I’d scan the downloaded ZIP you download with whatever virus and internet security software you have and don’t be fooled by extraneous popups you might see during the download process. I was able to download the aio210.zip after authorizing one Captcha window and closed at least one bogus popup trying to get me to install other software. I don't like the solutions I saw there and I am not sure they will work.

Nobody replied so I called Apple. They seemed to think they could fix the problem but I had to agree to pay about $20 first. I told them to put it down as a complaint. I only want to use the software I bought. I can't see that it is my fault it is malfunctioning. I guess I will have to pay. It doesn't seem right.

Premiere 2.0 crashes when I try to start a new project. XP 64 OS

Core Processor 4200
2.21 GHz
6GB RAM
I am using Premiere 2.0, its part of the Creative Suite Production Studio Premium. Premiere will launch ok, but when I try to start a new project, i.e try to create a save location, it locks up. On one occasion I used the default save location and it opened fine, but when I tried to do anything such as import, save, etc...again it freezes. So basically I am not able to do anything at all without it freezing. Everything else in the CS Production studio works just fine, Premiere is the only problem...so I am baffled! Oh yeah, I uninstalled and reinstalled twice, and still the same problem. PLEASE HELP!

CC 2014 closes after opening/starting a new project.

So i called Adobe about this problem on Friday and after an hour and a half of trying stuff, it was all for not.
we ended up getting disconnected, and i didnt feel like calling them again.
once i open Premiere Pro CC2014 all seems good till i try to open a Project or start a new one,
it just immediately closes with out letting me do anything.
The Custmer Support guy tried:
- Reinstalling it.
- updating my graphics card.
- removing some files.
- making a new user on my computer.
all of which didnt work...i really hope that i can get it up and running soon ><

Are you on Windows or Mac, and exactly which operating system version?
