Unable to stream live radio

I have a MacBook laptop and I'm currently unable to stream live radio to it. It had been working. My tech updated it and now it won't stream.
Is there a setting some place that I need to set to get it going again?
Thanks much!
Ginger

Maybe someone else know of a quick fix, not me unfortunaley, it is also a while since I used 10.6.8.
At least the audio system works correctly.
Few more questions.
Do you have any extentions in Safari preferences, such as Ad block, Flash block etc, these can stop streaming working? I cannot remember if these extentions were available for Snow Leopard.
Did you use a Proxy server in your network settings that as been disabled by the software upgrade, or have they set one up for you in network settings to use the school network?
Do use a particular station, if so what is it and I will try it on my computer. It may give some pointers to what is stopping on your computer.
and I should have asked this before, can you steam radio from other locations, say at home etc.

  • Streaming live radio online

Hi, Does anyone know how I can get my Macbookpro (Mac OS X 10.5.4) to stream live radio stations online? I particularly want to be able to listen to radio stations from Rio de Janeiro but I can't seem to get any to work. I've tried downloading Windows Media for Macs and Stuff it! Expander to open it but this doesn't seem to work.
    Thanks

    Hello,
    >>but my main concern is how to get urls of live streaming of various radio stations.
You will need to use your favor search engine to find more radio stations. This forum is to discuss windows phone development, it’s out of our support range.
Please feel free to post here if you have any dev problem.

  • Streaming Live Radio

Can anyone tell me how to stream live radio stations on-line? I like to listen to live radio streaming on-line. When I go to radio station websites and click the listen live button nothing happens. Thanks.

When I try the station website directly it doesn't connect me when I click on the listen live icon. A window appears with unrecognizable script. The link is www.kkla.com. It's a local radio station in the Los Angeles area. Thanks.

  • Why won't the iPhone 5 stream live radio?

I had a 4 that was stolen. While it wasn't perfect in the radio streaming department, (it cut out then without rhyme or reason would stream for longer periods), the iphone 5 is the WORST!! At most I get 4, or 7 or at most 10 minutes of content then *click* stream cut off and I have to enter passcode and reload page. It's 'Groundhog Day' in cycles of minutes. Entirely frustrating. *Does NOT happen with my iPad!! Wads of cash for an "upgrade" that cannot perform such a simple action. Help. Please.

@ Ralph. No. connections are fine. As indicated my iPad works seamlessly. And I've tried two 5's! Both do the same. I HATE not having the capacity to 'Listen Live' to public radio!

  • How to remove streaming live radio from music? (11.0.5)

I've got three public radio station streams in iTunes. At some point, they started appearing in my songs and albums lists.  This wouldn't be as annoying if I didn't use shuffle with iTunes Alarm (amazing how droning newscasts fail to wake me up in the morning) and if I didn't often want to shuffle my whole library when I'm listening.
I think this started happening this spring, when I first upgraded to version 11, because other things happened to my library around that time that made me unhappy, but this is the one that annoys me the most at the moment.  I confess to having tried to fix things by fooling with my iTunes folders, but frankly they make about as much sense as mud, so I don't want to make things worse than they already are.
    Any takers?

    Hi Jonathan,
    Thank you.
I had actually tried that and thought that is hadn't worked for me, with your reply I suspected that I needed to delete and re-save the content which I've just done and Voila!
    Thanks again

  • Listening to Live Radio Streams???

    Hmmmm...
This is a device has been promoted as a perfect portable internet device with iTunes, Internet, Safari, iPod, Podcasts and much more....but...
...why can't we listen to a live stream of a radio broadcast, particularly pro and college sports that are streamed on the internet that I CAN currently listen to on my Mac Powerbook...????
Why can't I listen to on my iPhone????
Am I missing something or is the PERFECT device missing something very important.

You should try searching google next time. There are NUMEROUS ways to stream live radio. You can use FlyTunes, not live but great channel selection. You can also use ORB, great service. Sign up fo ran account, link your favorite internet or radio channels, and boom all on your ipod. I use ORB and USirius t listen to my 120 plus channels of Sirius radio, as well as use ORB for WFAN Radio and ESPN....Also Accuradio, you should search google, there are numerous ways to stream

  • Can I assume that 2.0 FINALLY provides listening to live radio streams?????

Still hoping that 2.0 and/or the Apps Store will give us the ability to stream live audio on our iPhone.
Have been waiting for one year a feature that I assumed in 07 would be an automatic on the iPhone.
Why would the "perfect" device (yes I do like it) that has iPod, iTunes, Internet, Safari, Videos, Audio and much more NOT have the ability to listen to live streams of radio and in particular sports streams is really baffling.
I am praying that this feature is available in the 2.0 upgrade and/or at the Apps Store ...pls tell me it is available.

If the stream you want to listen to is using Windows Media it will probably never be available on the iPhone.
If it is using Flash then you need to go to the Adobe website and ask them to write a Flash client for the iPhone.

  • How can I record the audio for a radio station I'm streaming LIVE?

How can I record the audio for a radio station I'm streaming LIVE?
I don't want to record the sound in my room, but only on the sound I'm streaming

No. Preferably one records using direct input.
Your comment  It doen’t matter whether he/she is recording the audio from the macbook or any external speakers because if the room is noisy than obviously the ambient room noise will be recorded.  is pretty silly really. Think about what you just wrote.
And you do have a bad habbit in your posts of over using ???????? & !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Unable to Stream Audio

I'm unable to stream audio from a popular radio station. My old Win XP and Vista systems had no trouble. The radio station's site indicates that Windows Media Player is necessary. I'm hesitant to install anything having to do with Microsoft and/or Windows. What do I need to know? What are the pros/cons of installing Windows Media Player? Is there an Apple-approved version of WMP? Are there any other options available to me?

    Hi iTunesKruzr
Some radio stations will play in Safari and other OS X browsers and some will not without a wmp?
Download and install Flip4Mac first to see if that doesn't let you listen to you favorite station?

  • E65 problem with listening to live radio

I have a fine wifi connection and live tv access but have problem to connect to any live radio station while connected though wifi. can anyone kindly help me out?

how do I listen to live broadcasts using my mac and why isn't this ability written into the OS.
It's not "written into the OS" because a Mac does not have a radio receiver. If you are referring to streaming broadcasts that come over the Internet, that capability is dependent on the web browser, not the OS. And as mentioned above, iTunes also has the capability to stream Internet-based "radio."
You can also go to any number of web sites that stream "radio" broadcasts. Just do a Google search on "internet radio". For example, here is a web site that aggregates such streams.

  • Error streaming BBC radio feeds through RealPlayer...

    Problem
I am experiencing a problem with the version of Realplayer Mobile pre-loaded on a Nokia E90 running Symbian S60 (version s60.30.19.02M 10-May-2007 09:58:18). The problem occurs when trying to stream the BBC live radio feeds at www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/radio/listen after selecting an ‘RM’ feed there is a couple of seconds pause followed by the error message “Disconnected. Try connecting again?”
    Environment
The phone is connecting through my home wifi router (a Netgear WGT624v2) which acts as my network hub. This network hub services a home PC and a work laptop base station, via Ethernet cables, and also to various wifi devices such as PSP’s, laptops and the phone.
The internet connection is supplied by a broadband router (an SMC SMC7404 BRA UK) connected into the wifi network hub via Ethernet
All devices – the mobile, the hub, the broadband router – are running on the current firmware versions.
The wifi connection to the phone works for both web and email. Realplayer mobile plays video and music files.
    Further Information
I can successfully stream the www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/radio/listen feeds over my home PC (Windows XP service pack 3) using RealPlayer (Version 11.0.3 Helix Powered Build: 6.0.14.806) which obviously routes through the wifi hub and the broadband router.
On casting around various forums I notice that there may be an issue with Realplayer mobile using different ports than Realplayer. Although, there seems to be no official information on the port settings someone has suggested the range of 6970 to 7170 on UDP is correct. Although, I’m uncomfortable opening such a large range I have allowed port forwarding on the wifi hub to the mobile (no, the mobile is not using a static IP address but I have confirmed that the IP address is correct).
I have also opened both 6970 and 7170 ports on the broadband router for UDP (note not the full range.
Correspondingly, the Realplyer mobile Streaming settings on the phone are :
    Proxy->Use Proxy : “No”
    Network->Default Access point: “mywifihub”
    Network->Online Time: “Unlimited”
    Network->Lowest UDP port: “6970”
    Network->Highest UDP port: “7170”
    Help ?
I’m obviously looking for some guidance here. Can someone please solve my problem ?
    I’d like to know:
    • Why is realplayer mobile is connecting in a different way to realplayer ?
    • What are the ports that realplayer mobile requires, and why does it need them ?
    • Is there anything else I need to do to get this thing working ?
    Many Thanks,
    colin

The mobile listening page on the BBC site is OK for live streams, but if you want to listen to programmes that have already been broadcast, you need to go to the "listen again" page.
I have this working today, perhaps because the BBC have fixed it (I'm sure I tried the same thing the other day).
Here is an example for Radio 3:
    * Go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/listen/index.shtml
    * Find the paragraph that starts: "But if you want to listen to a programme broadcast in the last 7 days..."
    * Click on the link: BBC Radio3 iPlayer
    * Choose the programme you wish to listen to. Episodes of
daily programmes can be found for the week after they have been broadcast: click on "show more episodes"
    * Click on the link of the programme you wish to hear.
    * A message comes up, inviting you to click on a link to listen in Real Player
    * Click that and Real Player opens. Adjust volume using right or left joystick button.
You cannot fast forward or rewind programme, but at least you can listen.
Wonderful. My only minor gripe now is the number of clicks necessary, but at least it works.
A quicker way, and definitely the best of you are using a normal computer rather than a smart phone, is to go to the programme's own page, and follow the link to the last programme(s). On S60 you get the invitation to click to open real player for less than a second, followed by the suggestion to instal Real Player.
Check it out in a few days, when I guess they'll have fixed this much more practical route.
Do post back if this works for you, or if anything is not clear.
I tried this on an E90, but I suppose any S60 phone should handle it.

  • Troubles streaming live video using Playbook

    Hi,
I have Bell's Fibe12 internet and am using their sagemcom f@st 2864 wireless modem.
My playbook is connected to my wireless network and I can browse the web no problem. However, when I start to stream live tv or radio, it starts to work fine for a little bit (longer with radio) and then starts to freeze up/ become choppy.
I connected my laptop to the same wireless network and stream the same video no problem.
Do you think it's the Playbook or something with my WiFi?
    Thanks!

Unfortunately, the one I use for streaming video is password protected as I am subscribed to it.
Someone mentioned to me that it has to do with the fact that my router is 2.4Ghz and that the Playbook needs a 5.0Ghz router in order to stream video with no issues.

  • Streaming web radio breaks up after a few seconds

    Hello,
I am trying to stream web radio on my ipod touch 1st generation but it does not work properly.
I tried many apps like calm radio or apps allowing to listen to web radio but the problem is the same. The music breaks up constantly as if the connexion was too slow.
I use my home wifi (8MB) and I tried many different apps and streaming quality (same result with 24kbps or 128). The wifi connexion is clear (I am standing next to the modem) and I reset/updated the ipod but did not have any better result.
Anyone as the same problem? Some leads on how to fix this?
    Thank you.

When audio (music or speech) is being streamed to your iPod, the "file" (or each few minutes of audio) has to arrive at your iPod at least as fast as it's being played to you. If it does, then everything will sound okay and if it arrives faster than required, your iPod will buffer the sound in its memory. When that's full, it will tell the originating website to stop sending for a while. But if the "file" doesn't arrive fast enough, then you get breakup of the sound.
So even though your Wi-Fi connection may be good, the internet itself may be slowing down the feed of the stream and that could be down to any one (or more) of several things.
    1. I assume your internet connection is broadband - that is the 8MB you referred to. Even so, it may be a slow connection, now or all the time. Have you done a speed test on your internet connection?
    2. The website itself may be busy. Unlike broadcast radio, where it makes no difference how many extra peple listen, every extra listener on the internet needs extra resources on the interenet and on the website sending the sound.
    3. Even if you have this problem with different radio services, it could be the App your using that's causing the problem.
    4. The internet itself may be busy. It's like trying to make a call on your mobile phone (cellular) at midnight on New Year's Eve. Well, here in the UK, it was so busy, you couldn't do so.
One trick you could try; if the App you're using has a pause button, pause the audio for about thirty seconds and then re-start it. It may, possibly help, but don't put money on it.
In the future, this breaking up problem will go away, but the internet (and radio streaming) is still relatively new and that's why there's a problem. So new in fact, that no one has yet come up with a suitable name for "listening to a live audio feed over the internet, from an organisation that broadcasts over *radio waves* at the same time". Radio, you might say. Well no, radio is short for "broadcasting over the "airwaves" by usng radio-frequncy transmission.
I suppose "internet braodcasting" - but that's not very catchy, is it?
So yes, other peoiple wll also have the same problem as you, I do ocassionally. The only things you can try that may help are those I've suggested above - check the speed of your broadband and try the pause trick.
    Good luck.
    Phil
