Unable to sync Ipod classic

I have downloaded 27 songs from store they are showing on the computer but I when I sync my ipod the songs will not transfer over.  Any advice

First see Corrupt iPod classic just to make sure there's no reason to suspect a real problem on the device.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

Try deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder. There may be more than one such folder. For its location see:

If everything is in your iTunes library, try doing a restore on the iPod and see if it then works ok.

  • So, I installed itunes on windows xp, but system locks up when I try to sync ipod classic

I recently installed Itunes on a computer with windows xp. At first it recognized my Iphone 4s and Ipod classic 160 g. Went through the standard procedure for registering both products and everything seemed fine. Then I started importing my cd collection with the intention of syncing them to my ipod classic.
I should mention that my previous computer crashed with my original Itunes account(that went with my ipod classic). I didn't know how to recover it so I just started over. When I tried to sync it with my cd collection everything locked up. Itunes and my computer froze up to the point where i had to do a "hard shut off". Although, it still accepts my iphone with no problem. How do I sync both on the same itunes account?

The problem is likely iTunes 10.5, which has loads of sync problems with the iPod Classic. If you look on this forum, you'll see lots of users like you with similar problems. Normally, I'd advise you to read this summary post of mine and consider downgrading to 10.4. But you want to sync both an iPhone and your classic, and you need 10.5.x if you want to use the iCloud features. So I'm not sure what to advise, other than to use the correct USB ports and possibly to disable realtime virus scanning during your sync efforts.

  • Can't sync iPod classic 160GB

I recently purchased an iPod classic 160GB. I am running Windows XP with SP2,
iTunes 7.4.3.1, QuickTime 7.2 (I am hesitant to install iTunes 7.5 due to known problems with QuickTime 7.3). I had to go to my local Apple Store to get the latest iPod Software Update installed (56.6 MB is pretty huge; this Update for my iPod video was only 6.2 MB).
Problem Number 1: iTunes cannot successfully download an iPod Software Update (1.0.2) if the download has been Paused and then Resumed; iTunes loses track of the size of the module it was working on. (If there are buttons in the application to pause and resume the download, they should work correctly.) (This happens with both the iPod classic and the iPod Video.)
Problem Number 2: I cannot successfully sync my Music Library (40GB) with my iPod classic. I actually got to listen to a song after 4 days of trying to perform this download (only 800 MB of my music made it into the iPod successfully.) iTunes froze up when the iPod was first attached and also while trying to perform the sync. (I also have and iPod Video (30GB) and it works fine although a little slow.) The Genius at my Apple Store was able to load the iPod successfully using one of their BootCamp machines since my Music Library resides on an external hard disk. (And it only took 4 hours of work to get this far.)
Device Manager in Windows also shows an additional driver (iPod Driver) in the USB section with the iPod classic attached (it is not shown when using the iPod video). Both iPods show as Drive J: in the My Computer window.
Note to Apple Management: When a customer pays $250 to $350 for and iPod, the customer has heightened expectation levels, especially if he/she has had success with prior successful products. Especially since the classic is the 6th generation machine. Please get on this Apple!!!!!

I solved my problem!! I just loaded my iPod classic 160GB with 40GB of music and one video file.
I upgraded to iTune 7.5.0.20 and iPod Software 1.0.2 with no major ill effects. (I had to install iTunes 7.5 a second time because it told me to.) Windows XP is at SP 2 level and appears to be fine.
I tried using msconfig to stop initally loading anything except iTunesHelper and qttask. Nothing major broken yet. This is good news.
I tried loading over one album at a time (Using the Manual button in the options) and iTunes started freezing up at weird places (but it usually came back after a while.)
So I set the iPod into Disk Mode and I went to the Summary screen and only checked the "Enable Disk Use" box. (The top box was already checked.)
I Clicked on the Music tab and chose Sync Music and All songs and playlists (I would suggest you try something less to test this; my whole list took almost 12 hours to copy over. But I'm running with 1.1 USB ports). It ran very smoothly and iTunes only got fussy when I asked it to eject the iPod, but it eventually did it.
After it said I could disconnect, I got the iPod out of Disk Mode by using Menu/Center buttons and presto, it was up and working. All my playlist present and accounted for.
It'll take me a couple of days to find any problems (I have 31 days of music to listen to), but it's looking good.
Thank you to all who have listened to my problems and provided help!!
Apple has managed to keep this customer.

    Hey catwoman001,
Thanks for the question, and great troubleshooting so far! iPod software version 2.0.5 is available for the iPod classic 160GB (Late 2009). If this is your model, you may want to update the iPod. If you are having issues with your iPod, the following troubleshooting assistant may help:

  • Problem with syncing ipod classic with iTunes and multiple accounts

Hi I have a 80gig ipod classic that I have just been using as is without putting any new music on it. I haven't had it hooked up to a computer or itunes in a couple years I've just been listening to the same music and using an iphone instead. To compound things I now have a couple (that I know about) apple id's that I am using. And a old HP computer which I am unsure if I can get running or salvage any of the music of it to transfer to my new Macbook Pro. I have logged onto apple and changed the password/id of the old apple id to authorize my new mac. I had some files transferred from the ipod to my new itunes but am still missing some 1100 songs. When I have tried to sync it I get an apple id prompt that I have never used before. I had my old apple id come up and with the new password got it to authorize on my Mac. Any help or direction on this will help me to bumble my way through until I can get to an apple store and try to get some help there. Thanks in advance!!!!!

  • Syncing iPod Classic with iTunes

    Hi guys,
I received an iPod Classic 80GB for xmas. It is my first iPod and im very happy with it. However, in my naivety, the first time I plugged my iPod into my computer, I chose to sync it with my iTunes library automatically, rather than manually selecting what to put on. Of course, now I can't get any music from other iTunes libraries, including others in my house.
Does anyone know the best way, or indeed anyway, to reverse this so I can go back and change the settings on my iPod so i can manually select what to put on it?
    Cheers,
    Jules

I tried this, i selected "manage my music and videos manually" and clicked "apply". when i try and put songs onto my ipod off another computer, i get the warning message telling me if i sync it with this library, it will delete everything off my ipod and replace it with what is in the library on that computer.

  • Syncing iPod Classic with iTunes on MacBook Air and QNAP NAS

Not sure what section this would sit under, but as it is primarily about getting my iTunes to work, I’ll post it here, for now:
For various reasons, I’m going to be switching most of my home computer usage from my PC to my Macbook Air (2010).
I have used Supersync to move my iTunes library to a QNAP T210 NAS (where my library file resides) and set up iTunes on the MBA to point to it.  I am using AFP to connect to the NAS.
The router is an Airport Extreme base station with the NAS directly connected via Ethernet and the MBA connected via wifi.
In my new setup, when I click on a song to play, there is a very – barely perceptible – slight lag compared to the old PC setup which used a directly connected USB hard drive. So no real performance issues on the MBA.
The issue arises, however, when I try to sync my iPod Classic 160G (reformatted for Mac, as I thought it would possibly be moreefficient?).  I’m just going through the first sync of  ~31k songs (no video orother content.)  I left it running between midnight and 0800, and it only managed about 3,000 tunes.  My old PC setup usually synced about three times as much in the same period.
Is there anything I can do to improve the performance of my setup?
Would running my NAS connection over NFS be quicker?
How about a powered USB hub to the MBA?
How about connecting the MBA to the Airport extreme via Ethernet (from a USB hub) instead of using the wifi?
Any suggestions (besides running iTunes on a local drive) greatly welcomed.
    Thanks,
    James

  • Cannot Sync Ipod Classic with Itunes 11

After installing Itunes 11, I cannot sync my Ipod Classic. It has worked perfectly up until this version. Here are the options I like:
    Open Itunes when... -- ON
    Sync only checked... -- OFF
Convert higher... ON (128) (I have a LOT of music I like to fit on this little ipod)
    Manually manage... -- OFF
    Enable Disk Use... -- OFF
I have tried restoring the ipod and resyncing everything, but that doesn't work eiter.
I also got some errors about not being able to copy some podcasts (like 100 of them) when I tried syncing after restoring, but I have seen that before and just ignored it and it still gets stuck.
It gets stuck around song 5, I've left it running for two days and still no progress. Even checking "On this iPod" shows me that no songs have sync'd.
    Help?
    Robb

Update:   More information and how I've temporarily solved this problem.  I installed the new iTunes 11 on two computers when it came out both of which have the same specs. One was an upgrade from most previous version of itunes, the other was a new install.  My idea was to move my library to my other laptop as the old one was running out of space.
I copied my iTunes library over to my other laptop, installed iTunes and started making adjustments like deleting smart playlists and turning off genius.  My thinking was to see if i could get itunes to run faster on my other laptop.  It did run alot faster with all the genius playlists btw.
I now have my music in two different locations; same everything minus some smart playlists.  Long story short, my identical playlists that where not syncing did sync from my original laptop. so there is something different between my two laptops that is causing the sync not to work, again my guess is converting tracks to acc. Maybe the upgraded itunes has files that my new install itunes does not which allow conversion of songs to ACC.
Good news is iTunes now allows you to have multiple locations without deleting your iPod so I can retransfer all my music on my old laptop and keep the library on my new laptop. At least until Apple comes up with a fix.
Good luck,  I'll drop more info if anything changes.

  • I can't sync iPod classic with iTunes Match since I have updated to iTunes 11

When I open iTunes (11) and connect my iPod (classic) it does not recognise the device.  I am using iTunes Match.   My question is how do I transfer the music from PC to my iPod?  I just bought a new PC and thought getting Match would be useful and save time transferring from my old PC.  It was fine to begin with until the iTunes 11 update.
    Any help would be appreciated!

The iPod classic not bring recognized is unrelated to iTunes Match. You should post this problem to either the iPod Classic forum https://discussions.apple.com/community/ipod/ipod_classic or the iTunes for Windows forum https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes/itunes_for_windows. Probably the former.
FYI it is only iOS devices that cannot be synced via USB with iTunes Match enabled.

  • ITunes freezing when trying to sync iPod Classic 160

    System stuff
    MacBook Pro OSX 10.5.8
    iTunes 10.6.1 (7)
    iPod Classic 160g
This iPod is only music, no photos, podcasts, movies, anything else.
I have had no issues syncing my iPod on my MacBook Pro, until the last two times, both times coinciding with iTunes updates.
The first time i had an issue, I got error messages telling me the disk couldnt be written to, and told me to restore the disk. I did this, and after 3 times it restored and synced successfully.
Yesterday I began to sync and it worked, but was going extremely slow. In aabout 3 hours it had added about 600 songs out of 2200. (Now I know its a big sync, but I often add a lot of music at once. It's my job.) After it got that far, iTunes froze. I force closed iTunes and that ejected the iPod. I lt it rest a few minutes, restarted my computer, and plugged in the iPod again. iTunes opened, it started syncing and then froze while determining tunes to sync. So I force quit, unplugged the iPod, opened iTunes and set to not automatically sync. Plugged the iPod back in, and restored the disk. Ive done this a dozen times, at least.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it.
    Thank you in advance!!

I am also having a very simalar problem but i am glad to hear it is also happening to someone else.
I still haven't been able to decide what the actuall reson for this problem is, for a while i thought it may have been an "intel problem" as one of my frends kindly put it, but i am now lead to belive that it is a problem with the auto sync.
For a temporary solution i have been updating my ipod manually but even then it does frezze occasionaly. So i would be very intersted if anyone has any solutions or resons why it happens.

  • Sync ipod classic with new HD

I replaced HD on MBP and upgraded to itunes 11.  I have two ipod classics and an iphone 4s.  When i connect ipods they get recognized show in sidebar and do a real quick sync, but don't add any of the music i just put in itunes yesterday (that's how I know they aren't syncing).  I moved my old library form HD into new MBP and that works fine.  I also can't manually drag files into ipods in sidebar.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

did restore on both classics and it worked...
