Unable to sync playlists, ipod5

i am unable to sync playlists to my sons iPod 5. I have tried through the cloud and direct link to the computer via USB. it says "syncing" but the playlists checked are not the ones showing up in his music on his ipod

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Does any media sync to the iPod?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

  • Unable to sync playlists from iTunes to touch iPod, the songs sync but not the playlists

I use to be able to just plug my iPod into my computer and have it automatically update.  The songs are updating from the iTunes to the iPod but the playlists are not for some reason.  Someone by accident ended up deleting a playlist off my iPod, and I didnt worry as I thought when I plugged it back into my computer to iTunes it would automatically sync the playlists again, but it didnt.  Any help as to what I do from here? Do I wipe everything off the iPod and start again?  Thanks

Thanks, good to know that restoring it will not be my best use of time.  I hope we dont have to live with it as its easier to manage playlists and make new ones from the iTunes end vs the iPod end.  Thanks for your reply.

  • Unable to sync music onto iphone despite seeing all my playlists

    Hi
I'm unable to sync the music and apps on my iphone. The phone has recently being retored and this was the cause of all my problems
i can see all my music in itunes however I cannot add any songs or edit the playlists.
When I press sync music it does not do anything.
Another odd thing is that I see my phone name however there is also "on this phone" in itunes - and this does not contain any of music and does not allow me to add any music.
please help, how can I get my songs and apps back on my iphone?

  • I am unable to sync my playlist from computer to phone

shows up in the playlist, all the boxes are checked, it is instructed to sync, i've gone from individual songs to checking the entire library ... and it still says unable to sync, 26 songs missing.
I've about had it.  If there truly is an answer, i would sincerely appreciate it.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • After having yet another problem with my MacBook Pro and having to wipe the drive, I am now unable to sync my iPhones etc without erasing all the music on them. Is there a way around this? I have no other library!

iTunes is a mess! It couldn't find it's own libraries and I was forced to create a new one. Now I don't know where my music is or if any's missing.

    How crap is that?
    It's not crap at all.
It's not that simple. For example, I've 3500 songs on my MacBook but don't want them all on my phone, so I have to manually select each song again???
There has to be a solution.
Why not simply make a playlist with the songs you want on the iPhone?
and maintain a current backup of your computer.

  • Getting error message file not found unable to sync to ipod

90 percent of my music from my playlists wont load to my ipod. It has loaded in the past nut now i get message file not found unable to sync. Meanwhile I can play all of this music out of itunes I just cant seem to load it to my ipod. why? all of the songs in the playlists seem to have an "!" next to them in the track list. That is until i play them then it goes away im not sure if these things are related but i think they may be. plaese help

+all of the songs in the playlists seem to have an "!" next to them in the track list. That is until i play them then it goes away im not sure if these things are related but i think they may be.+
Yes, I'm sure they are related. I have no idea how your PC/itunes got into that state. What's happening now, is itunes thinks it doesn't know where the file is on your PC's hard drive, but when you double-click it, it mysteriously finds it.
I suspect after itunes finds it again, it will load to your ipod.
Is this music on an external HD?

  • I am unable to sync my ipod nano to my itunes.

I am unable to sync my ipod nano to my itunes. I have windows 8 and have updated everything on my computer and followed all of the tutorials for syncing. My ipod is recognized and my itunes says "ipod sync is complete" but I dont have any music on my ipod still... Help Please!

You probably need to set up automatic syncing.  If you have not set up anything to sync, iTunes will still sync, but sync nothing.
If you "updated everything," you probably have the new iTunes 12.  Connect the iPod.  Look on the horizontal bar that goes across the iTunes window (near the top), and click the "device button" (it looks like the connected device).  This shows the iPod's "management" screen.
In the sidebar (along left side of window), under Settings, click Music.  To the right, you see the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.  Check the box for Sync Music, which enables automatic syncing for Music.  NOTE:  If that was box not checked already, and you manually added songs to the iPod previously, any songs on the iPod now that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.
Below that, if your iTunes music library is small enough to fit on your iPod completely, you can choose the option to sync Entire music library.
Otherwise, choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that, select what you want to sync from the lists of playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  The "capacity bar" at the bottom of the screen shows you how much space on the iPod you are using.  A convenient way to do this is to first create one or more playlists in your iTunes library, and put only the songs you want on the iPod on those playlists.  Or you can use existing playlists.  Then, on the iPod's Music screen, only select (checkmark) the those playlists, under Playlists.
When you click Apply, iTunes syncs your iPod based on your selection on the iPod's Music screen.  Going forward, changes in your iTunes music library sync automatically to the iPod (based on how you set up the iPod's Music screen).  If you selected playlists to sync to the iPod, to update songs on the iPod, just update those playlists in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes updates the iPod with the same changes.

  • Unable to sync back ratings from Touch to iTunes

    Hello all,
I am unable to sync the ratings I have on my iPod Touch back to Itunes. Any guess?
I am using Windows Xp, iTunes 7.5, manual syncing

No, you can't stay in manually managing your music. You would be syncing. I have "Sync only checked items" selected on the summary page just because I uncheck holiday music during most of the year. You create whatever playlists you want (or use existing ones). When your iPod is connected you'll uncheck Manually manage music and videos. On the subsequent tabs, you select sync selected playlists and in the box below, check of the playlists that you want to sync. Be sure to press Apply in the lower right corner when you're done.
Yes, I can confirm that the ratings will transfer to the library. Playlists entries are simply pointers back to the actual file.
I haven't used iPodRip in years, though I remember it being an okay program.
I'm just not a fan of manually managing music. It's too much work. However, I recognize that other people have different preferences. Best of luck.

  • Unable to sync any music to iPhone

I have an iPhone 3GS which I recently upgraded to 3.1.3. I am unable to sync any music to the iPhone, either playlist or by artist. I used to have a bunch of songs on the iPhone, but I only had part of my music library and wanted to replace some of the songs with different ones from my library. I had previously synced via playlist, but decided to sync by artist instead of having to put together a new playlist just for the purpose. I never did get it to sync to the new set of songs and in the process it removed all songs from my iPhone, leaving me with nothing.
The current behavior has me select which artist or playlist to sync, and then attempting to sync with the phone. iTunes goes through the normal "Syncing iPhone do not disconnet" with the gray striped bar, and the iPhone itself reports "Sync in Progress". After everything says "OK to Disconnect" I do so and then click on "iPod" from my phone. It says that I do not have any music.

I should mention that this has been an ongoing problem since some time after installing the previous OS update (3.1.2?) and so is not unique to the latest OS.

  • I have been having a lot of trouble with the latest itunes update and my ipod classic 80Gb i.e. being unable to sync songs, but now i have no files at all on my ipod, it is completely blank when i view it from my computer. I need help, please, anybody.

As it says above, i have been having a lot f trouble with my ipod classic and the latest itunes update, i was unable to sync songs or anything to it and have tried every conceivable 'fix' i could find. i have run an itunes diagnostic and the results are posted below. a major problem is that when i try and view my ipod through my computer it displays nothing at all on the ipod, no files or anything, this may be the problem but i have no idea how it has happened or how i could resolve it.
This ipod holds huge sentimental value and i am loathe to buy a new one! If anybody can help it is greatly appreciated, than kyou in advanced.
