Unable to Sync Powerbook G4 to iMac G5

My iSync had been working perfectly until I took my G5 to the Genius Bar for an unrelated repair.
When I select the Sync Devices icon on the iSync tab I get an error message that I need to add devices. When I select Add Devices, it tells me no devices are found. However, when I go to the iSync tab via .Mac, it shoes both my iMac and Powerbook as added.
I am still unable to Sync my computers. Have I configured my iSync incorrectly? Thank You.

This is actually a .Mac Sync issue, and has nothing at all to do with iSync. There is a forum for .Mac Sync, located here:

I am a little confused by your terminology. The icon in your menu bar is referred to as the Sync Status icon. There should be no option to add devices using it, only a Sync Now option or one to open the .Mac Sync preferences pane. There is no iSync tab.
If you launch System Preferences and select the .Mac pane, you should see four tabs which you can select: Account, Sync, iDisk and Advanced. If you press the Advanced tab, you should be given the opportunity to unregister, and then reregister, the computers associated with your .Mac account. You should be able to perform this task from your iMac G5 to correct the problem.

    Obviously, syncing an iOS device with iTunes over USB is still supported in Mavericks. Calendar and contact syncing with iTunes is no longer supported. That has nothing to do with your problem.
    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
    When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

    - You can only syncewith one iTunes library.  It sounds like you change libraries such as changing the computer.
    - As you may know you can transfer iTunes' pruchases to a new computer by:
    iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer

  • I am unable to load the newest itunes update to my 10.5.8 osx. The update requires 10.6 so this makes me unable to sync my updated phone and ipad with my imac. Solutions?

    I am looking for suggestions and possibly a solution to the following problem: The new itunes update requires at least a 10.6 os.x. My imac is a 10.5.8. I am unable to sync my iphone or ipad, which both have the update, with my imac. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD and run the 10.6.8 combo updater.

  • HT204053 I am unable to sync all contacts on my iMac (which includes outlook for Mac contacts) with my iPad mini, how do I do this, I have enabled icloud on both devices and ticked all the boxes.

    I am unable to sync all contact in my address book on my imac with my ipad mini, it looks like only icloud & yahoo contact sync leaving out the ones in outlook for mac.  I have enabled icloud on both devices and ticked all the boxes.

    No, they are in the On My Mac account in the Mac Contacts app, not iCloud.
    or are they in a different format despite being in mac contacts?  If so can the outlook contacts be exported in some other way to icloud?
    Outlook is not compatible with iCloud, check Microsofts site if you need more verification.
    If you want them in iCloud use Mac Contacts and move them from On My Mac to iCloud. This will remove them from Outlook.

    I have the same problem as Sheilaza but haven't been able to solve it using the advice offered.  The same problem applies to my Calendars. When I look at my iPad settings in iTunes, it says:
    Sync Contacts
    Your contacts are being synced with your iPad over the air from iCloud.
    Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on your iPad.
    and the same for Calendars.
    On the iPad, in iCloud settings, I have checked 'Contacts' and 'Calendars' as 'ON' but the Calendar remains blank and the Contacts are a very old version that was somehow created when I set up the iPad initially.
    Any ideas?

    Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac.  You should be able to set a password for it. Save it.  Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer,  I suppose,  back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity.  As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro
    you should be able to sync your phone on your new MacBook Pro. Don't know if you can move the older backups yet-maybe try someone else, anyways,

    don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
    and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
    time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine  and go for it.  You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups  of your stuff.

When I go to "Screen Saver" on the ATV it is only able to access Apple Photos. I upgraded the ATV software without effect. What am I doing wrong?

    On the tv you should have selected 'settings/computers/connect to itunes library', I think you likely selected 'settings/computers/connect to shared library'. You may have to select your current shared library and unlink it before you can set it up properly but I'm not too sure as I've not had to do it myself.

    It is definitely important to have your reminders synced between your devices. I found an article that assists with troubleshooting reminders that are not syncing properly:

    I would pay attention to only the sections that are relevent to your devices: "General Troubleshooting," "Troubleshooting Reminders on OS X Mountain Lion," and "Troubleshooting Reminders on iOS devices."

    Have 2 Iphones and 2 IMacs.  Both phones, when USB connected to power and using WiFi, produce a message saying "Unable to sync 6 (or 9 apps, depending on which phone).  See ITunes."  That's the entire message, no listing of which apps won't sync and no help going to ITunes Store.

    There's some magic that's tricking you. Basically, if you switch out.println() for System.out.println() you'll see that BOTH urls start with satellitescheme://. What is going on is the URLs that are produced by the Sites UIs always are built with satellitescheme://.......#satellitefragment. Then, what happens is Satellite Server will process the result and substitute the strange string with one that corresponds to your URL assembler (and in this case you're using the GSF assembler).
    In your substring code, you're breaking the special string and are chopping the encoded URL. Satellite Server doesn't see the prefix and suffix combined, so it's not trying to do the substitution.
    So that's why your'e seeing what your'e seeing.
    A bigger question, however, is why you are trying to process the URLs that are generated by the APIs. I would guess that some sort of substitution is going to happen, but that shouldn't usually be done. What are you trying to do? I'm sure we can find the proper way of accomplishing your goals.

    As it says above, i have been having a lot f trouble with my ipod classic and the latest itunes update, i was unable to sync songs or anything to it and have tried every conceivable 'fix' i could find. i have run an itunes diagnostic and the results are posted below. a major problem is that when i try and view my ipod through my computer it displays nothing at all on the ipod, no files or anything, this may be the problem but i have no idea how it has happened or how i could resolve it.
    This ipod holds huge sentimental value and i am loathe to buy a new one! If anybody can help it is greatly appreciated, than kyou in advanced.

    Here is what worked for me:
      My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.
